Goa Trip Budget: The Real 2026 Cost, Line by Line

Air tickets or the train, which airport to land at, a beach hotel or a villa, scooters versus taxis, shack meals, drinks and nights out – added up in rupees for couples, families and friends.

The short answer: a Goa trip budget for two people is about ₹34,000 to ₹60,000 for 4 careful nights, ₹68,000 to ₹1.23 lakh for a comfortable beach-resort holiday, and ₹1.4 lakh upward for five-star stays and private yacht outings. Those totals cover return economy flights from a major Indian city, hotel nights with breakfast, getting around, sightseeing and water sports, meals, a realistic drinks line, and tips. The Goa trip cost changes more with your dates than almost any other Indian holiday: the same room can cost three times as much in the last week of December.

Goa price lists online tend to give a per-person land package or a "Goa under ₹10,000" headline that assumes a bus ticket, a hostel bed and no taxis. Neither tells a couple or a family what they will actually spend. This guide gives every cost line for real travellers, names the airport question that quietly adds ₹3,000 – 5,000 to many trips, puts drinks in their own row instead of hiding them, and shows totals for 3 to 6 nights. Rates are as of November 2026; Goa hotel prices move week by week in season, and we recheck them for your dates. For ready-made trips with live land prices, see our Goa tour packages.

Flights and trains to Goa from Indian cities

Goa has two airports. Manohar International at Mopa (GOX), in Pernem in the far north, and Dabolim (GOI), near Vasco in the south-centre. Pick the airport by your hotel, not by the fare: Mopa to a Palolem or Cavelossim resort is a two-hour-plus taxi, and Dabolim to Arambol or Morjim is similar. A fare ₹1,500 cheaper can cost ₹3,000 more in taxis.

FromHow people usually travel (November 2026)Return economy per person
DelhiNon-stop to Mopa or Dabolim, about 2½ hours₹8,000 – 15,000

BengaluruNon-stop to both airports, or an overnight train to Madgaon₹5,500 – 11,000
ChennaiNon-stop, about 1½ hours₹9,000 – 15,000
HyderabadNon-stop to either airport, about 1¼ hours₹6,000 – 12,000
KolkataNon-stop to Dabolim; Mopa usually needs a connection₹10,000 – 17,000

PuneNon-stop flights, the Goa Express, or a 9 – 11 hour drive₹6,500 – 12,000 by air

Trains from Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru reach Madgaon, Thivim or Karmali; a 3AC berth costs roughly ₹800 – 1,500 one way, and Vande Bharat chair car a little more than that. Driving from Pune, Mumbai or Bengaluru works for a group of four or five sharing fuel and tolls, about ₹6,000 – 10,000 for the round trip. City pages explain each route in detail: Goa from Mumbai, from Delhi, from Bengaluru, from Hyderabad, from Chennai, from Kolkata and from Pune.

Per room per night for two with breakfast, tax included, for November to mid-December and mid-January to March. Since 22 September 2025, hotel rooms up to ₹7,500 a night carry 5% GST and dearer rooms 18%.

  • North or South first. Calangute and Baga are busy, with the most restaurants and nightlife; Anjuna and Vagator are for cafés and clubs; Colva, Benaulim and Cavelossim are calmer, with larger resorts on long beaches, which is why families and senior citizens usually prefer the south.
  • Villas for groups: a 2- or 3-bedroom villa with a small pool in North Goa costs roughly ₹8,000 – 18,000 a night off-peak and shared among friends often beats three hotel rooms. Check that it is registered with Goa Tourism.
  • IFFI week: the International Film Festival of India runs in Panaji from 20 to 28 November 2026, and city hotels fill up and cost more during those days; beach areas are less affected.

Getting around Goa: scooter, taxi or car with driver

Transport is the line visitors most often get wrong. Goa has no Ola or Uber: as of November 2026 the state still keeps outside aggregators out. App bookings run through GoaMiles (about 5,000 taxis) and the state's own Goa Taxi app, and both airports have counters. Traditional tourist taxis at hotel gates charge by negotiation.

  • Rent only from licensed rentals, which carry yellow-and-black number plates. Carry your driving licence; helmets are compulsory for rider and pillion, and police checks on the Calangute–Baga stretch are frequent.
  • Short hops: local taxis and pilot motorcycle taxis cost ₹150 – 400 for a few kilometres in season. Agree the fare first, or book on GoaMiles.
  • For four days, a scooter couple spends about ₹5,000 – 7,500 including both airport taxis; a family using taxis and two days with a driver spends ₹10,000 – 15,000.

Activities and sightseeing costs

Approximate prices per person, as of November 2026. Most of Goa's best sights cost nothing: beaches, the forts at Aguada and Chapora, the churches of Old Goa and the Latin quarter of Fontainhas.

Private yacht or catamaran, 1 – 2 hours₹8,000 – 20,000 per boatGroups of 6 – 10 share the cost
Spa massage, 60 minutes₹1,200 (local) – 4,500 (resort)

A couple doing one water sports session, a spice farm and a sunset cruise spends about ₹4,000 – 7,000; add Dudhsagar, a dolphin trip and one massage each and it becomes ₹8,000 – 12,000. A casino night or yacht hour is where Goa activity budgets jump.

Food, shacks and drinks: the honest numbers

Licensed beach shacks operate roughly from October to May and must come down before the monsoon, so between June and September you eat at restaurants and hotels instead.

  • Shack meal: about ₹400 – 800 per person; seafood thalis and fresh fish by weight cost more.
  • Local restaurants and Udupi-style vegetarian places in Panaji, Mapusa and Margao: ₹150 – 350 per person.
  • Well-known restaurants and beach clubs in Candolim, Anjuna and Assagao: ₹1,200 – 2,500 per person before drinks.
  • Vegetarian and Jain: shacks share kitchens with seafood, so strict vegetarians should eat at veg restaurants or the hotel; Jain food is possible at larger hotels with notice and at a few Gujarati and Marwari restaurants in Calangute and Panaji, but options are limited.

Drinks are a real line in many Goa budgets, so we show them separately. Retail alcohol is cheaper in Goa than in most states because of lower excise. At a shack, a beer is about ₹150 – 250 and a cocktail ₹300 – 700; at clubs and beach clubs, ₹400 – 900 a drink plus cover charges of ₹1,000 – 3,000 on busy nights, often adjustable against drinks. Drinking on the open beach or in public places and cooking on beaches are banned and fined, and drink-driving checks are strict.

Daily food budget for two, breakfast included at the hotel: about ₹1,200 – 2,000 at local places and shacks, ₹2,500 – 4,500 with restaurant dinners, ₹6,000 – 10,000 at resort and fine-dining restaurants. Drinks on top: ₹500 – 1,000 a day for a couple of beers, ₹1,500 – 2,500 for a couple who enjoy their evenings, much more with club nights.

On a stay of five nights or more, splitting it – two or three nights in the north, the rest in the south – costs one transfer of about ₹2,000 – 3,000 and shows both sides of Goa.

Friends who drive down from Pune or Mumbai in one car save the most; families save most by choosing a resort with a pool and a kids' club in the south and skipping the long day-trips to the north. Both kinds of group travel privately on their own dates.

Peak season: Christmas, New Year and festival dates

From about 20 December to 2 January, Goa's prices behave differently from the rest of the year.

  • Hotels often cost two to three times their November rate, with minimum stays of three or four nights, and many resorts add a compulsory gala dinner on 24 and 31 December at ₹5,000 – 15,000 per person.
  • Flights from most metros commonly reach ₹15,000 – 30,000 return per person, and the cheapest seats go by October.
  • Taxis and scooters charge more and are harder to find on New Year's Eve; roads around Calangute, Baga and Anjuna are jammed.
  • Sunburn is not in Goa this year. The 2026 edition of the Sunburn festival is being held in Mumbai, at Mahalaxmi Racecourse on 18 – 19 December, so North Goa's December rush this year comes from Christmas and New Year rather than that festival. Other club parties still run in Vagator and Anjuna.
  • IFFI, 20 – 28 November 2026, raises Panaji hotel rates for those days.

Rough rule: a mid-range 4-night couple trip that costs ₹68,000 – 1,23,000 in early December costs about ₹1,30,000 – 2,40,000 over New Year. If you want Goa in winter without the premium, the first half of December and the second half of January are the value windows. Our guides to New Year destinations in India and December holidays in India compare Goa with other options for those weeks.

Monsoon Goa: cheapest, with conditions

June to September is the cheapest time to book: good 4-star resorts often drop 40 – 60% below winter rates, and flights are at their lowest outside long weekends. The trade-offs are real. The sea is rough and swimming is unsafe; most shacks, water sports and the Grande Island boats stop; and some days it rains without a break. It suits couples who want a resort with a pool, green countryside, waterfalls once roads are open, and quiet beaches to walk, and families who mainly want the hotel. A mid-range 4-night monsoon trip for two often costs ₹45,000 – 80,000 including flights.

Nine ways to stretch a Goa trip budget

  1. Choose the airport by the hotel – Mopa for Candolim northwards, Dabolim for Panaji southwards in most cases.
  2. Avoid 20 December – 2 January unless New Year in Goa is the point of the trip.
  3. Travel Sunday to Thursday. Weekend rates in North Goa are noticeably higher, especially for villas.
  4. Rent a scooter only if you ride regularly at home; otherwise two days with a car and driver is safer and not much dearer for a family.
  5. Use GoaMiles or the Goa Taxi app for airport and evening rides to avoid negotiating at hotel gates.
  6. Take the train from Mumbai, Pune or Bengaluru if your dates allow a slower start.
  7. Eat lunch at local places and keep the beach-club budget for one evening.
  8. Buy drinks retail for your room or villa rather than ordering every round at a club.
  9. Get a quote that names the hotel, the room type and the transfer plan so a cheap headline does not hide a two-hour taxi.

How Vibrant Holidays plans a Goa trip

  • Itemised quotes with named hotels, the meal plan and New Year gala charges shown up front.
  • Pure-veg and Jain meals requested in writing at hotels, with veg restaurants noted near your stay; we say clearly where options are thin.

Goa Trip Budget: FAQs

What is a good budget for a Goa trip for two?

For 4 nights, a couple usually spends about ₹34,000 to 60,000 on a budget trip, ₹68,000 to 1.23 lakh mid-range and ₹1.4 lakh or more at five-star resorts. These totals include return flights from a major city, hotels, transport, activities, food, drinks and tips, outside the Christmas–New Year fortnight.

Is ₹20,000 enough for a Goa trip?

For one person, yes, if you come by train from Mumbai, Pune or Bengaluru, stay in a guesthouse, ride a scooter and eat at shacks and local places for three or four nights. For a couple flying in and staying in a decent hotel, ₹20,000 is too little; plan for at least ₹34,000.

How much does a 3-day Goa trip cost?

A 3-night, 4-day trip for two costs about ₹29,000 to 51,000 on a budget and ₹56,000 to 1 lakh mid-range, flights included. Per person that is roughly ₹14,500 to 25,500 or ₹28,000 to 50,000. Christmas and New Year dates can double these figures.

Which airport should I fly into for Goa?

Fly into Mopa (GOX) for hotels from Candolim northwards, including Calangute, Baga, Anjuna, Vagator and Morjim. Choose Dabolim (GOI), near Vasco, for Panaji and the South Goa beaches such as Colva, Benaulim and Cavelossim. The wrong airport can add a two-hour taxi and ₹3,000 or more.

Are Ola and Uber available in Goa?

No. As of November 2026, Goa still does not allow outside ride-hailing apps such as Ola and Uber. You can book through GoaMiles or the state Goa Taxi app, use prepaid counters at the airports, or hire a tourist taxi at an agreed fare. Car-with-driver days cost about ₹2,500 to 3,500.

How much is scooter rent in Goa per day?

A standard scooter such as an Activa or Jupiter costs about ₹400 to 600 a day, with ₹100 to 300 more in peak weeks, plus about ₹200 to 300 of petrol. Rent only licensed bikes with yellow-and-black number plates, carry your licence and wear helmets.

What is the cheapest time to visit Goa?

June to September, the monsoon, is cheapest: resorts often cost 40 to 60% less than in winter. The sea is unsafe for swimming and most shacks close. In the dry season, the first half of December and the second half of January give the best value.

How much do drinks cost in Goa?

At a beach shack, a beer usually costs about ₹150 to 250 and a cocktail ₹300 to 700. Clubs and beach clubs charge ₹400 to 900 a drink, sometimes with a cover charge. Retail prices are lower than in most states. Drinking on the open beach is banned and fined.

Is Sunburn happening in Goa in December 2026?

No. The 2026 Sunburn festival is scheduled in Mumbai at Mahalaxmi Racecourse on 18 and 19 December, according to the organisers. Goa still has Christmas and New Year parties, and prices from about 20 December to 2 January remain the highest of the year.

How much does a Goa trip cost for a family of four?

A 5-night mid-range trip to a South Goa beach resort for two adults and two children costs about ₹92,000 to 1.63 lakh, including flights, a family room with breakfast, transfers, three days with a car and driver, activities, meals and extras. School-holiday and New Year dates cost more.

When are beach shacks open in Goa?

Licensed beach shacks run roughly from October to May and are taken down before the monsoon. Some open only in late October, and from June to September you eat at restaurants and hotels instead. Shacks share kitchens with seafood, so strict vegetarians should choose veg restaurants.
