Andaman Trip Cost: What an Island Holiday Really Costs in 2026
Air tickets, three islands of hotels, catamaran seats, the Cellular Jail show, a first scuba dive, island cabs and every meal – the Andaman bill added up for a couple and for a family of four.
The short answer: a 5-night Andaman trip cost for two people flying from Delhi is about ₹61,000 to 1.08 lakh if you keep it simple, ₹1.03 to 1.82 lakh for the comfortable trip most couples and families choose, and ₹1.7 lakh upward with the best beach resorts on Havelock. From Chennai, Kolkata or Bengaluru the same trip is ₹8,000 to 12,000 cheaper for the couple because the flight is shorter; from Pune or Ahmedabad it costs a little more.
Those totals cover return flights, hotels on three islands with breakfast, private catamaran seats between Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair), Havelock (Swaraj Dweep) and Neil (Shaheed Dweep), airport and jetty transfers, sightseeing cabs, entry tickets, one water activity each, lunches and dinners, and small extras. Most "Andaman from ₹X" offers quote only the land part per person and leave out the airfare, which in the Andamans is often a third of the whole bill. This page lists every line with the range we see when we cost real trips, so you can check any quote. Figures are as of November 2026; ferry fares and activity rates are revised each season and we confirm them before you book. Ready itineraries with live prices are on our Andaman tour packages page.

Andaman trip cost at a glance: couple, 5 nights
Two adults, 5 nights and 6 days – two nights in Port Blair, two on Havelock, one on Neil – flying from Delhi, outside Christmas–New Year and the summer vacation.
| Style | What it looks like | Total for two | Per person |
|---|---|---|---|
| Budget | Guest houses and simple 3-star rooms, economy ferry seats, shared or scooter transport on Havelock, snorkelling instead of scuba | ₹61,000 – 1,08,000 | ₹30,500 – 54,000 |
| Mid-range | 4-star or good beach resorts, premium ferry class, private cab for every transfer, a try dive each | ₹1,03,000 – 1,82,000 | ₹51,500 – 91,000 |
| Premium | Top resorts on Havelock and Neil, royal or business ferry lounge, private SUV, several dives or a sea walk plus a private boat day | ₹1,68,000 – 3,30,000 | ₹84,000 – 1,65,000 |
Two things set the Andamans apart from a mainland beach trip. You pay for boats on almost every day – ferries between islands, the boat to Ross and North Bay, the boat to Elephant Beach – and the hotel you pick on Havelock can move the total more than any other single choice.
Airfare to Port Blair from major Indian cities
Return economy fares per person to Veer Savarkar International Airport (IXZ), booked four to seven weeks ahead outside peak weeks, as seen in November 2026. Children above two pay nearly the adult fare.
| From | Usual routing | Return fare per person | For a couple |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chennai | Several non-stops a day, about 2 hours | ₹10,000 – 18,000 | ₹20,000 – 36,000 |
| Bengaluru | Non-stops, about 2½ hours | ₹10,000 – 18,000 | ₹20,000 – 36,000 |
| Kolkata | Non-stops, about 2 hours | ₹11,000 – 19,000 | ₹22,000 – 38,000 |
| Hyderabad | Non-stop on most days, else via Chennai | ₹11,000 – 20,000 | ₹22,000 – 40,000 |
| Delhi | Early-morning non-stops, about 3½–4 hours | ₹14,000 – 24,000 | ₹28,000 – 48,000 |
| Mumbai | Non-stop at dawn, or one stop | ₹14,000 – 24,000 | ₹28,000 – 48,000 |
| Pune | One stop, usually via Chennai, Bengaluru or Hyderabad | ₹16,000 – 28,000 | ₹32,000 – 56,000 |
| Ahmedabad | One stop via Chennai, Kolkata or Bengaluru | ₹18,000 – 32,000 | ₹36,000 – 64,000 |
Peak weeks – Diwali, 20 December to 2 January, the January school break in the north, Holi and the May vacation – can lift every row by 40 to 70%. Flights land between about 8 am and 1 pm; an early landing lets you take the same-day catamaran to Havelock and save a Port Blair night. Our city pages explain airports, timings and the best departure days: Andaman from Delhi, from Mumbai, from Chennai, from Kolkata, from Bengaluru, from Hyderabad and from Pune.
Hotel costs on each island
Per room per night for two adults with breakfast, taxes included, in the October–April season but outside the Christmas fortnight. Havelock is the island where prices climb fastest.
| Class | Port Blair (Sri Vijaya Puram) | Havelock (Swaraj Dweep) | Neil (Shaheed Dweep) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Budget – guest house or simple 3-star | ₹2,000 – 3,500 | ₹2,500 – 5,000 | ₹2,000 – 4,000 |
| Mid-range – 4-star or good beach resort | ₹5,000 – 8,000 | ₹7,000 – 14,000 | ₹5,500 – 10,000 |
| Premium – the top resorts | ₹9,000 – 18,000 | ₹18,000 – 45,000 and more | ₹10,000 – 20,000 |
- Five nights for two (2 Port Blair, 2 Havelock, 1 Neil) add up to about ₹11,500 – 21,000 budget, ₹30,000 – 54,000 mid-range and ₹64,000 – 1,46,000 premium.
- Beach-facing rooms cost extra. On Havelock a sea-view cottage is often ₹2,000 – 5,000 a night more than a garden room in the same resort. Radhanagar beach is a 15–20 minute drive from most resorts in any case.
- Meal plans: breakfast-only is normal. Half-board adds roughly ₹1,500 – 3,500 per couple per night and is worth it on Neil, where the evening choice is small.
- Christmas and New Year: many resorts charge a compulsory gala-dinner supplement, typically ₹3,000 – 10,000 per person, and the room rate itself can double between 22 December and 2 January.
- Families: an extra mattress with breakfast is usually ₹1,200 – 2,500 a night; some cottages take only two adults and one child, so a family of four may need two rooms.
Ferry costs: private catamarans vs government boats
Four private operators run the Port Blair – Havelock – Neil triangle as of November 2026: Makruzz (including its larger Makruzz Gold), Nautika, Green Ocean and ITT Majestic. Fares are per person, one way, and vary by vessel and class.
| Leg | Private, economy or base class | Private, premium or royal | Government (DSS) ferry |
|---|---|---|---|
| Port Blair → Havelock (about 1½ – 2 h private, 2½ h government) | ₹1,100 – 1,700 | ₹2,000 – 4,000 | About ₹400 – 500 |
| Havelock → Neil (about 1 h) | ₹1,000 – 1,500 | ₹1,800 – 3,000 | About ₹300 – 450 |
| Neil → Port Blair (about 1 – 1½ h) | ₹1,100 – 1,700 | ₹2,000 – 4,000 | About ₹400 – 500 |
- The usual three legs for a couple cost about ₹6,500 – 10,000 in base class and ₹12,000 – 22,000 in premium or royal. With government ferries the same loop is about ₹2,500 – 3,000, if you get seats.
- Government ferries are run by the Directorate of Shipping Services and leave from Phoenix Bay jetty. Tickets for Havelock go on sale about two days before sailing, at the counter or through the DSS e-ticket system, and islanders get priority. They suit backpackers with flexible days, not a couple with a fixed flight home.
- Jetty and port charges of a few tens of rupees per person are sometimes collected separately at Havelock and Neil.
- Luggage: private operators allow one check-in bag and one cabin bag per passenger, roughly 20 – 25 kg in total; excess is charged by weight.
- Weather risk: when the administration suspends sailings in rough seas, operators refund or move the ticket under their own rules. A spare night in Port Blair before the flight home costs ₹2,000 – 8,000 and is cheaper than a missed flight.
Permits and entry fees
Indian citizens do not pay for any permit to visit Port Blair, Havelock, Neil, Ross, North Bay or Baratang; an original photo ID is enough and is checked at the airport and at every jetty. What you do pay are small entry and show tickets, plus the boats to reach the smaller islands.
| Item | Approximate cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Cellular Jail entry | ₹30 per person | Official rate; video cameras ₹200 extra |
| Cellular Jail sound-and-light show | ₹300 per adult, ₹150 per child aged 5 – 11 | Several evening shows, mostly in Hindi; book a day ahead in season |
| Ross Island (Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep) | Small entry fee plus boat, about ₹500 – 900 per person with North Bay | Its own evening show costs ₹300 per adult |
| North Bay boat (combined with Ross) | Included in the combo boat above | Sea walk and semi-submarine are extra |
| Baratang day trip (limestone caves, mangrove creek) | ₹6,000 – 9,000 per couple with car, boat and forest permit | Leaves Port Blair around 3 am for the convoy |
| Chidiya Tapu, Corbyn's Cove, Radhanagar, Laxmanpur | Free or a nominal parking fee | Lifeguards on duty at the main beaches |
| Samudrika naval museum, Anthropological museum | Tens of rupees each | Closed on Mondays and some holidays |
For a couple, entry tickets, shows and the Ross–North Bay boat together usually come to ₹3,000 – 5,000; with Baratang added, ₹9,000 – 14,000.
Scuba, snorkelling and other activity prices
Per person, as quoted by licensed operators in the 2026–27 season. Prices on Havelock and Neil are similar; North Bay prices are for boat-based activities from Port Blair.
| Activity | Approximate cost | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Try dive (Discover Scuba), shore or boat, about 30 – 40 minutes underwater | ₹3,500 – 7,500 | Non-swimmers aged 10 and over, after a medical questionnaire |
| PADI or SSI Open Water course, 3 – 4 days | ₹25,000 – 38,000 | Anyone who wants a lifetime certificate; plan a 7-night trip |
| Fun dive for certified divers | ₹4,500 – 7,000 per dive | Licensed divers; two-dive boat trips cost less per dive |
| Snorkelling at Elephant Beach, with boat | ₹1,000 – 2,500 | Families; children who can float with a jacket |
| Sea walk (helmet walk) at North Bay or Elephant Beach | ₹3,500 – 4,500 | Seniors and non-swimmers who want to see coral up close |
| Semi-submarine or glass-bottom boat | ₹600 – 3,500 depending on the boat | Small children, grandparents |
| Jet-ski, banana ride, parasailing | ₹600 – 3,500 per ride | Teenagers and young couples |
| Mangrove kayaking or night bioluminescence kayak, Havelock | ₹3,000 – 4,500 | Couples; best on moonless nights |
A couple doing one try dive each and a snorkelling trip spends about ₹9,000 – 16,000. Snorkelling only keeps it to ₹2,000 – 5,000. Ask whether the dive price includes photos and video, which are often ₹1,500 – 3,000 extra, and whether the operator is licensed by the administration.
Food, cabs and the small costs
- Lunch and dinner: about ₹500 – 900 per person a day at local restaurants, ₹1,200 – 2,500 at resort restaurants. Seafood is the local strength, and a grilled lobster or crab dinner can cost ₹2,000 – 4,000 for two by weight.
- Vegetarian and Jain: Port Blair has several pure-veg restaurants serving North and South Indian food; Havelock has a few; Neil has very few. We ask resorts to cook vegetarian or Jain meals and confirm it in writing, and we tell you plainly that the menu on Neil will be short.
- Transfers and sightseeing cabs: a private sedan for airport, jetty and Port Blair sightseeing costs about ₹1,500 – 2,500 a day; on Havelock and Neil a cab for the day runs ₹2,000 – 3,500. Over 5 nights, a couple spends ₹8,000 – 14,000 on cabs, or ₹5,000 – 9,000 using autos and a rented scooter.
- Scooter on Havelock or Neil: ₹500 – 900 a day plus fuel, with a driving licence.
- Drinking water and snacks: bottled water, coconuts and snacks cost a little more than on the mainland, about ₹200 – 400 a day for two.
- Mobile network: works in Port Blair and Havelock, weaker on Neil. Card payments and UPI work at most hotels; keep some cash for autos and small shops.
- GST: packages carry 5% GST; hotel rates above are quoted with tax.
Line-by-line budget: couple, 5 nights from Delhi
All figures for two people together.
| Cost line | Budget | Mid-range | Premium |
|---|---|---|---|
| Return flights Delhi – Port Blair | ₹24,000 – 40,000 | ₹28,000 – 48,000 | ₹30,000 – 55,000 |
| Hotels, 5 nights with breakfast | ₹11,500 – 21,000 | ₹30,000 – 54,000 | ₹64,000 – 1,46,000 |
| Ferries, three legs | ₹5,000 – 9,000 | ₹8,000 – 15,000 | ₹14,000 – 22,000 |
| Transfers and sightseeing cabs | ₹5,000 – 9,000 | ₹8,000 – 14,000 | ₹14,000 – 22,000 |
| Entry fees, shows, Ross and North Bay boat | ₹3,000 – 5,000 | ₹5,000 – 9,000 | ₹6,000 – 10,000 |
| Scuba, snorkelling and other activities | ₹3,000 – 8,000 | ₹9,000 – 16,000 | ₹15,000 – 30,000 |
| Lunches and dinners | ₹8,000 – 13,000 | ₹12,000 – 20,000 | ₹20,000 – 35,000 |
| Water, tips, insurance, odds and ends | ₹2,000 – 3,000 | ₹3,000 – 6,000 | ₹5,000 – 10,000 |
| Total for two | ₹61,000 – 1,08,000 | ₹1,03,000 – 1,82,000 | ₹1,68,000 – 3,30,000 |
From another city, swap the first line for your couple fare from the flight table. From Chennai, for example, the mid-range total becomes about ₹95,000 – 1,70,000.
5, 6 or 7 nights: sample Andaman budgets
| Couple from Delhi, flights included | Budget | Mid-range | Premium |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 nights – Port Blair 2, Havelock 2, Neil 1 | ₹61,000 – 1,08,000 | ₹1,03,000 – 1,82,000 | ₹1,68,000 – 3,30,000 |
| 6 nights – adds a Baratang day and a third Havelock night | ₹72,000 – 1,27,000 | ₹1,20,000 – 2,10,000 | ₹2,04,000 – 3,97,000 |
| 7 nights – adds a second Neil night or a dive course | ₹78,000 – 1,37,000 | ₹1,31,000 – 2,29,000 | ₹2,32,000 – 4,52,000 |
| Each extra night adds about | ₹6,000 – 10,000 | ₹11,000 – 19,000 | ₹28,000 – 55,000 |
Four nights is possible but tight: one Havelock night and Neil as a hurried day. Five nights is the length we recommend most, and six suits families who want a slow day on the beach between ferries. A dive course needs at least three clear days on Havelock, which is why it belongs in a 7-night plan.
Family of four, 6 nights from Chennai
Two adults and two children aged 6 to 12, mid-range hotels with an extra mattress, a private SUV throughout.
| Cost line | For the family |
|---|---|
| Return flights Chennai – Port Blair, four seats | ₹40,000 – 72,000 |
| Hotels, 6 nights with extra mattress | ₹42,000 – 75,000 |
| Ferries, four passengers, premium class | ₹15,000 – 28,000 |
| Private SUV transfers and sightseeing | ₹14,000 – 22,000 |
| Entry fees, shows, boats | ₹8,000 – 14,000 |
| Snorkelling for all, try dives for the adults, glass-bottom boat | ₹14,000 – 24,000 |
| Lunches and dinners | ₹22,000 – 36,000 |
| Sundries | ₹4,000 – 8,000 |
| Total | ₹1,59,000 – 2,79,000 |
That is about ₹40,000 – 70,000 per head. Infants under two travel almost free on ferries and pay only a small fare on flights, so a family with a toddler pays noticeably less.
How the season moves the Andaman trip cost
| Period | Sea and weather | Price level |
|---|---|---|
| October – mid-November | Rain easing, seas settling; occasional cyclone warnings | Low to moderate, except Diwali week |
| Mid-November – mid-December | Calm, clear water, good visibility for diving | Moderate; a good value window |
| 20 December – 5 January | Best weather, heaviest crowds | Highest of the year; book by September |
| Mid-January – March | Dry, calm seas, best snorkelling | Moderate to high around Holi and long weekends |
| April – mid-May | Hot and humid, still calm | High in the summer vacation, lower in the second half of April |
| Late May – September | Monsoon; ferry cancellations, many dive sites closed | Lowest hotel rates, highest risk of a changed plan |

Ten ways to lower the Andaman trip cost
- Book flights first. The airfare moves faster than any hotel rate; five to seven weeks ahead is the sweet spot outside peak weeks.
- Fly from the nearest hub. From Pune or Ahmedabad, a cheap fare to Chennai plus the Chennai non-stop can beat a through ticket.
- Take the same-day ferry to Havelock when your flight lands early, and save a Port Blair night.
- Spend on Havelock, save on Port Blair. You sleep in Port Blair mainly for the jetty; a clean mid-range hotel there is enough.
- Choose base class on the short Havelock–Neil leg and premium only on the longer legs, or for anyone who gets seasick.
- Pick one big activity. A try dive or a sea walk, not both, saves ₹7,000 – 9,000 for a couple.
- Snorkel from the beach at Neil's Bharatpur and Havelock's Kalapathar on calm mornings instead of paying for every boat.
- Rent a scooter on Havelock and Neil if you ride; it costs less than a cab and goes everywhere on the island.
- Travel in late November, early December or the second half of April for good weather without peak pricing.
- Ask for a quote that lists every ferry, cab and activity by name and price, so you can compare two offers line for line.
How Vibrant Holidays costs an Andaman trip
- Private and customised: your own dates, your own cab for every transfer, and the hotel class you choose on each island; no shared coaches.
- Ferry seats booked with the hotels, on sailing times that fit your flights, with a buffer night where the season calls for one.
- Every line visible: named hotels, ferry operator and class, and activity prices listed separately, so the price on the quote is the price you pay.
- Vegetarian and Jain meals requested in writing with each hotel, with an honest word on where choice is thin.
- 11 years of planning holidays from our C G Road office in Ahmedabad, booked on WhatsApp or phone from any city, with 24×7 support while you travel. IATA-accredited; member of TAAI, TAFI, ADTOI and IATO; recognised by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.

What is the total Andaman trip cost for a couple?
For 5 nights with flights from Delhi, a couple usually spends about ₹61,000 to 1.08 lakh on a simple trip, ₹1.03 to 1.82 lakh mid-range and ₹1.7 lakh or more with top Havelock resorts. That covers flights, hotels on three islands, ferries, cabs, entry tickets, one water activity each and meals. From Chennai, Kolkata or Bengaluru the total is a little lower.
Is ₹50,000 enough for an Andaman trip for two?
Only from Chennai, Kolkata or Bengaluru, and only with care. A sale fare of about ₹20,000 for two, four nights in guest houses, government or base-class ferries, a scooter on Havelock and snorkelling instead of scuba can come close to ₹50,000. From Delhi, Mumbai or Ahmedabad the flights alone take ₹28,000 to 64,000, so plan on ₹65,000 or more.
How much does a 6-night Andaman trip cost per person?
With two people sharing a room and cab and flights from Delhi, a 6-night trip costs roughly ₹36,000 to 63,000 per person on a budget and ₹60,000 to 1,05,000 mid-range, including a Baratang day. A family of four pays less per head because rooms and cabs are shared. Each extra night adds about ₹3,000 to 10,000 per person.
What is the ferry fare from Port Blair to Havelock?
As of November 2026, private catamarans run by Makruzz, Nautika, Green Ocean and ITT Majestic charge about ₹1,100 to 1,700 per person one way in base class and ₹2,000 to 4,000 in premium or royal class. The government ferry from Phoenix Bay costs about ₹400 to 500 but sells out quickly and gives priority to islanders.
Can tourists use the government ferry in Andaman?
Yes, but it is hard to plan around. Tickets go on sale about two days before sailing at the Phoenix Bay counter or the DSS e-ticket system, the tourist quota is small and the boat takes about 2½ hours to Havelock. It suits travellers with spare days. With a fixed flight home, private catamarans booked in advance are the safer choice.
How much does scuba diving cost in Andaman?
A try dive for beginners, about 30 to 40 minutes underwater with an instructor, costs ₹3,500 to 7,500 per person depending on shore or boat diving and the site. A full Open Water course of three to four days costs about ₹25,000 to 38,000. Photos and video are often extra, so ask before you pay.
Do Indians need a permit or pay an entry fee for Andaman?
Indian citizens need no permit for Port Blair, Havelock, Neil, Ross, North Bay or Baratang; carry an original photo ID for flights and jetties. You pay small site fees instead: ₹30 for Cellular Jail, ₹300 per adult for its sound-and-light show, a boat fare to Ross and North Bay, and a forest permit that comes with a Baratang trip.
Which is the cheapest time to visit Andaman?
The monsoon months, late May to September, have the lowest hotel rates, but ferries are often cancelled and many dive sites close. The best balance of price and weather is mid-November to mid-December and the second half of April. The most expensive weeks are 20 December to 5 January, Diwali and the summer school holidays.
Is Andaman cheaper than the Maldives or Thailand?
From South and East India, a mid-range Andaman trip usually costs about the same as Thailand and much less than the Maldives, with no visa or forex. From Delhi, Mumbai or Ahmedabad the airfare closes much of the gap with Thailand. The Andamans cost more than Goa because every island move needs a ferry and food prices are higher.
How much should I budget for food in Andaman?
Plan about ₹500 to 900 per person a day for lunch and dinner at local restaurants, and ₹1,200 to 2,500 at resort restaurants. Breakfast is usually included in the room rate. Seafood dinners priced by weight cost more. Vegetarian food is easy in Port Blair and possible on Havelock, but the choice on Neil is limited.
Is an Andaman package cheaper than booking it myself?
Often it is similar in price. Where a package helps is in matching ferry times to flights, holding catamaran seats in peak weeks and arranging cabs at every jetty. Compare quotes line by line: which ferry class, which hotel on Havelock, and whether activities and entry tickets are included or left for you to pay.
