Kerala packages start at ₹5,600 per person on this page. What you pay depends on three things: the number of nights, the hotel category, and whether the houseboat is private or shared. Add for flights: Ahmedabad–Kochi return fares are usually ₹7,000–12,000 per person when booked 4–6 weeks ahead, and higher in Diwali and Christmas week. Usually extra on the ground: Eravikulam / Periyar entry tickets, Kathakali show, Jeep safari in Munnar, Ayurvedic treatments and any speed-boat rides – we list these clearly on every quote so there are no surprises.
How to reach Kerala from Ahmedabad
- By air (recommended): non-stop flights from Ahmedabad's SVPI Airport to Kochi (COK) take about 2 h 30 min to 3 h. For a south-Kerala loop we book you into Kochi and out of Thiruvananthapuram (TRV) so you never drive back the same road. Calicut (CCJ) is the gateway for Wayanad.
- By train: Ahmedabad is connected to Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram by long-distance trains along the Konkan coast. The journey takes well over a day each way, so it suits groups with time who enjoy the ride and want to save on fares.
- Getting around: all our packages include a private air-conditioned car (Dzire, Innova Crysta or Tempo Traveller for groups) with a Malayali driver who knows the hill roads. Distances are short – Kochi to Munnar about 4 hours, Munnar to Thekkady 3 hours, Thekkady to Alleppey 4 hours.

4 nights / 5 days – Kerala honeymoon
- Day 1: Fly Ahmedabad–Kochi, drive to Munnar via Cheeyappara waterfalls; check in to a valley-view resort with honeymoon décor.
- Day 2: Munnar – Eravikulam National Park, Mattupetty dam, Echo Point, tea museum; evening at leisure.
- Day 3: Drive to Alleppey and board a private houseboat at noon; cruise, sunset on the deck, candle-light dinner on board.

7 nights / 8 days – complete Kerala with the beach
Follow the 5-night route, then add two nights at Kovalam or Varkala for the beach, a lighthouse sunset and an Ayurvedic massage, and fly home from Thiruvananthapuram. With a 9th night we add Kanyakumari for the sunrise at the southern tip of India.
Senior citizens and Ayurveda
For parents and senior groups we keep drives under four hours, choose hotels with lifts, skip Top Station's narrow road, and replace the overnight houseboat with a day cruise if anyone prefers a hotel bed. A 7-night Ayurveda stay in a Kovalam or Kumarakom resort during the monsoon (June–August) is the traditional treatment season and the best value of the year.
Alleppey houseboat guide – what to book
The houseboat night is the part of a Kerala trip people remember, and also where quotes vary most. Here is how to read them:
- Private vs shared: we book only private houseboats – the whole boat, its crew and cook are yours. Shared boats are cheaper but you share the deck and the menu with strangers.
- Bedrooms: a 1-bedroom boat suits a couple; families of 4–6 take a 2- or 3-bedroom boat. Larger groups can take two boats that cruise together.
- Deluxe, premium or luxury: deluxe boats have AC in the bedrooms at night; premium boats have full-time AC and an upper deck; luxury boats add a jacuzzi, glass-walled lounge or a private chef.
- Timing: check-in is around 12 noon and check-out at 9 am the next day; the boat anchors at sunset by rule, so board on time to get the full cruise.
- Food on board: all meals are cooked on the boat. We confirm a pure-vegetarian or Jain menu with the operator in writing before you travel.
- Alleppey or Kumarakom? Alleppey has the widest choice of boats and the busiest canals; Kumarakom is quieter with resort-style lake stays. Many honeymooners do one night on a boat plus one night in a Kumarakom resort.

Gujarat school vacation (May) is a good time for Munnar and Thekkady; Diwali week is the single busiest week in Kerala for Gujarati families, so we open bookings for it in August.

Food, hotels and tips for Gujarati travellers
- Vegetarian and Jain food: vegetarian food is available everywhere – Kerala's traditional sadya is fully vegetarian. For Jain meals we inform the hotels and the houseboat cook in advance; choices are widest in Kochi, Munnar and larger resorts. Gujarati thali restaurants exist in Munnar and Kochi; we share the list with your voucher.
- Hotel categories: we work with 3-star, 4-star and 5-star properties in every town. In Munnar the biggest difference is a valley-view room; in Thekkady choose a resort close to the lake; in Alleppey/Kumarakom a lake-facing resort is worth the upgrade.
- Pack: a light jacket for Munnar evenings, an umbrella in any season, comfortable shoes for plantation walks, and motion-sickness tablets for the hill road.
- Money and connectivity: UPI works almost everywhere; mobile network is weak inside Eravikulam and on the backwaters.
- Timings: Eravikulam closes for calving season, usually February to early April – we re-route to Lakkam falls and Anayirangal dam on those dates.

Kerala packages on this page start at ₹5,600 per person. A typical 5-night family package with 3-star hotels and a private houseboat costs ₹20,000–26,000 per person excluding flights; 4-star hotels take it to ₹28,000–38,000. Ahmedabad–Kochi return flights add roughly ₹7,000–12,000 per person.
How many days are enough for Kerala?
Five nights covers Munnar, Thekkady, an Alleppey houseboat and Kochi at a relaxed pace. Four nights works for a honeymoon (Munnar + houseboat + Kochi). With seven nights you can add Kovalam or Varkala beach, and with nine, Kanyakumari.
Is there a direct flight from Ahmedabad to Kerala?
Yes. Non-stop flights connect Ahmedabad with Kochi in about 2½–3 hours, and there are convenient one-stop options to Thiruvananthapuram and Calicut. We usually fly you into Kochi and out of Thiruvananthapuram for a south-Kerala loop.
Is pure-vegetarian and Jain food available in Kerala?
Vegetarian food is easy to find across Kerala, and Jain food is arranged on request – we inform the hotels and the houseboat cook before you arrive and confirm the menu in writing. Gujarati thali restaurants are available in Munnar and Kochi.
Which is the best month to visit Kerala?
October to February has the best weather and is peak season. March to May is hot on the coast but pleasant in Munnar, which makes it fine for the May school vacation. June to August is the monsoon – very green, quieter and 30–40% cheaper, and the traditional season for Ayurveda.
Is a houseboat stay included in the package?
Most of our 4-night-and-longer Kerala packages include one night on a private houseboat in Alleppey with lunch, dinner and breakfast on board. Shorter packages can add a day cruise instead. The package page lists exactly what is included.
Is Kerala good for a honeymoon?
Yes – it is one of the most popular honeymoon trips from Ahmedabad. We recommend three nights in a Munnar resort with a valley view, a private houseboat night with a candle-light dinner, and a beach stay at Kovalam or Varkala. Honeymoon inclusions such as room décor and cake are added on request.
Is Kerala suitable for senior citizens and small children?
Very much so. Drives between stops are 3–4 hours on good roads, hotels have lifts on request, and the food is mild and vegetarian-friendly. For seniors we skip the steep Top Station road, keep one free afternoon, and can replace the overnight houseboat with a day cruise.
What is usually not included in a Kerala package?
Flights (unless you ask us to add them), entry tickets to Eravikulam and Periyar, Kathakali or Kalaripayattu show tickets, jeep safaris, Ayurvedic treatments, speed-boat rides, personal expenses and GST at 5%. Every quote lists inclusions and exclusions side by side.
Can I customise the Kerala package?

Kerala or Goa – which is better for a family holiday?
Kerala if you want hills, backwaters, culture and mild vegetarian food in one trip; Goa if you want a beach-only holiday with a short 1½-hour flight. Families with grandparents and children usually prefer Kerala in October–March and Goa for a quick long weekend.
How far in advance should I book a Kerala trip?
For Diwali, Christmas–New Year and the May vacation, book 6–8 weeks ahead – the better houseboats and valley-view rooms in Munnar sell out first. For other months, 3–4 weeks is enough and flight fares are still reasonable.
