Australia is the long-haul trip that Gujarati families take when the children are old enough to remember it and the budget has grown past Southeast Asia. The reasons are practical: English everywhere, clean and safe cities, theme parks on the Gold Coast, the Great Barrier Reef from Cairns, and a very large Indian community that makes vegetarian food easy in Sydney and Melbourne. The seasons are the reverse of ours, so Diwali and the December holidays land in the Australian summer.
All packages on this page are live and bookable today. Below them you will find a dated price guide and an itemised budget, flight routing from Ahmedabad, three itineraries for families, honeymooners and first-timers, a plain-language walkthrough of the visitor visa, a month-by-month table that overlays Gujarat holidays on Australian seasons, and the twelve questions we answer most often about this trip.
Australia tour package price guide (2026)
Packages on this page start at ₹95,000 per person. Australia is not a cheap destination – hotels, meals and attractions cost roughly what they do in Western Europe – but the price is predictable and there are few hidden extras once the big tickets are in. The bands below are per person on twin sharing, excluding international flights, and include hotels with breakfast, internal flights between cities, airport transfers and the main sightseeing tours.
| Trip | Standard (3★) | Deluxe (4★) | Premium (5★) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7N/8D Sydney + Gold Coast (family) | ₹1,25,000 – 1,55,000 | ₹1,70,000 – 2,10,000 | ₹2,80,000+ |
| 9N/10D Sydney – Melbourne – Cairns (classic) | ₹1,65,000 – 2,00,000 | ₹2,20,000 – 2,80,000 | ₹3,60,000+ |
| 12N/13D with Hamilton Island or Uluru | ₹2,20,000 – 2,70,000 | ₹2,90,000 – 3,60,000 | ₹4,80,000+ |
| 13N/14D Australia + New Zealand | ₹2,80,000 – 3,40,000 | ₹3,70,000 – 4,60,000 | ₹6,00,000+ |
Add for flights: Ahmedabad–Sydney or Melbourne return fares with one stop are usually ₹70,000–1,10,000 per person when booked 8–10 weeks ahead; December is the most expensive month. Usually extra on the ground: the visitor visa fee, travel insurance, Great Barrier Reef cruise (unless named in the package), Gold Coast theme-park passes beyond those listed, Sydney Tower and Opera House tours, Blue Mountains scenic rides, lunches and dinners not listed, and tips, which are optional in Australia. We list each item in your quote.

How to reach Australia from Ahmedabad
- By air: there is no non-stop flight from Ahmedabad. The smoothest routing is one stop through Singapore, Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok, with total travel time of 15–18 hours to Sydney or Melbourne. The alternative is a domestic hop to Delhi or Mumbai and a non-stop flight from there to Sydney or Melbourne (about 12–13 hours on the long sector). We compare both for your dates and choose the one with the shorter layover and better fare.
- Open-jaw tickets: we fly you into one city and out of another – for example into Sydney and out of Melbourne, or into Brisbane for the Gold Coast and out of Cairns – so you never repeat a sector. Internal flights (Sydney–Melbourne 1 h 30 min, Sydney–Gold Coast 1 h 20 min, Melbourne–Cairns 3 h 15 min) are included in our packages.
- Time difference: Sydney and Melbourne are 4 h 30 min ahead of India in their summer (5 h 30 min with daylight saving), so you arrive in the morning after an overnight flight; we keep the first day light.
- Getting around: private transfers and guided day tours in the cities; a self-drive hire car is a good option on the Great Ocean Road for confident drivers, since Australians drive on the left like India. Every trip is a private, customised itinerary – your own dates, your own transfers.

12 nights / 13 days – Australia honeymoon
Take the classic route and add three nights at Hamilton Island in the Whitsundays – a seaplane or helicopter over Heart Reef, Whitehaven Beach's white silica sand, and an island resort with a private balcony – or two nights at Uluru for the sunrise walk and the Field of Light. For couples we book harbour-view rooms in Sydney, a Yarra Valley day with hot-air ballooning out of Melbourne, and a sunset dinner cruise on the Reef.
Senior citizens
The journey is long, so for parents we break it with a night in Singapore each way, cap the Great Ocean Road at the Twelve Apostles with a hotel stop instead of a 12-hour return, choose reef cruises with a semi-submersible, and keep one free day in every city. Australian hotels, trains and attractions are fully step-free.
Australia visitor visa for Indians – how it works
Every Indian passport holder needs a Visitor visa (subclass 600, tourist stream) before travel. It is applied for online and there is no visa on arrival. This is the part of an Australia trip that most often goes wrong when people self-book, so here is exactly what happens when you book with us.
- Application: we prepare and submit your application online through the Department of Home Affairs system, with a cover letter, confirmed itinerary, hotel bookings and flight reservations. Approval is at the discretion of the Australian authorities; our job is to make the file complete and consistent.
- Documents: passport valid for six months beyond return, recent photo, six months' bank statements, three years' income-tax returns, proof of employment or business, property or investment papers if available, and for retired parents a sponsorship letter from children in India. Students and dependants need their own set, which we list for you.
- Biometrics: most applicants must give fingerprints and a photo at the Australian biometrics collection centre in Ahmedabad after submitting; we book the appointment.
- Timeline: most tourist applications are decided in 2–5 weeks, but the published range runs longer in peak months. We ask for documents 10 weeks before travel and never ticket non-refundable flights before the visa is granted.
- Fee: about AUD 200 per applicant (roughly ₹11,000–12,000), paid online at submission and non-refundable. We quote the exact current figure with your package.
- Validity: visas are usually granted for 12 months with stays of up to three months per visit; some applicants receive three-year multiple-entry visas, which is useful if you have family in Australia.
- Health insurance: not mandatory for the visa but strongly advised – we include a travel policy because Australian medical costs are high.
Best time to visit Australia – month by month
Australia's seasons are opposite to India's, and the country is large enough that Cairns and Melbourne can be in different weather on the same day. This table overlays the Gujarat school calendar so you can pick the right window.
| Months | Weather | Good for | Prices |
|---|---|---|---|
| October – November | Spring: Sydney and Melbourne 18–25°C, Cairns warming, reef water clear | Best all-round window; Diwali departures from Ahmedabad; jacaranda season in Sydney | Moderate to high |
| December – January | Summer: 25–32°C south; hot and humid in Cairns with stinger season on the reef (stinger suits provided) | Beaches, Sydney New Year fireworks, Christmas vacation from Gujarat | Highest – Australian school holidays mid-December to late January |
| February – March | Late summer, warm and settled in the south; wet season easing in the north | Couples and honeymooners; Melbourne Grand Prix usually in March | Moderate, good value after January |
| April – May | Autumn: 15–22°C south, dry season begins in Cairns, reef at its clearest | Gujarat May vacation; Great Barrier Reef and Uluru; comfortable sightseeing | Moderate |
| June – August | Winter: Melbourne 8–15°C and grey, Sydney mild, Cairns and the Gold Coast at their best (dry, 25°C) | Queensland-focused trips, whale watching off Sydney and the Gold Coast | Lowest in the south, moderate in Queensland |
| September | Early spring, wildflowers in Western Australia, pleasant everywhere | First-timers who want to avoid crowds | Moderate |
For a Gujarati family the Diwali window (late October–November) is the best fit: pleasant weather in every city, reef visibility good, and prices below the Australian Christmas peak. The May vacation is excellent for Queensland and the Reef and acceptable for Sydney; Melbourne is chilly by then.
Places to visit in Australia

- Blue Mountains: the Three Sisters, Scenic World's steep railway and glass-floored skyway, two hours from Sydney.

- Great Ocean Road: the Twelve Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge and surf beaches on Australia's most photographed drive.
- Phillip Island: the nightly penguin parade and koala conservation centre, 90 minutes from Melbourne.
- Gold Coast: Movie World, Sea World, Dreamworld and Wet'n'Wild, plus Surfers Paradise beach – the family favourite.
- Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef: outer-reef pontoons, Kuranda rainforest railway and the Daintree.

- Uluru: the red centre's sunrise and sunset, the Field of Light installation and Kata Tjuta walks.

Food, hotels and tips for Gujarati travellers
- Vegetarian and Jain food: Australia has one of the largest Indian diasporas in the world, with a strong Gujarati presence in Sydney and Melbourne. Harris Park in Sydney is a full Indian precinct with Gujarati thali houses, chaat and sweet shops; Dandenong and Clayton in Melbourne are the same. Both cities have pure-vegetarian and Jain-friendly restaurants that will cook without onion and garlic on request, and Swaminarayan and other temples serve weekend meals. The Gold Coast and Cairns have Indian restaurants with vegetarian menus but fewer pure-veg options; supermarkets everywhere stock Indian ready meals, fruit and salads, and most hotel rooms have a kettle. We share a city-wise restaurant list with your vouchers.
- Hotel categories: 3-star in Australia is clean and reliable but rooms are compact and often without breakfast; 4-star is the sweet spot for families, with apartment-style hotels (kitchenette, washing machine) on the Gold Coast and in Cairns that suit Gujarati families cooking a simple dinner. 5-star harbour-view rooms in Sydney are worth it for a honeymoon.
- Money: the Australian dollar is roughly ₹55–58; cards and tap-to-pay are universal and tipping is not expected. Budget ₹2,500–3,500 per person per day for meals not included. UPI does not work.
- Customs: Australia is strict about food – declare every packed item (theplas, khakhra, pickles, sweets) on the arrival card. Declared, commercially packed dry food is normally allowed; undeclared food attracts heavy fines. No fresh fruit, seeds or dairy.
- Pack: layers for Melbourne in any month, strong sunscreen (the UV index is severe), a hat, swimwear and reef-safe sunscreen for Cairns, and an Australian-type three-pin adaptor.
- Timings: shops close early (5–6 pm) outside Thursday late nights and city centres; theme parks open around 9:30–10 am; book reef cruises and the penguin parade in advance in December and January.

Australia tour packages – frequently asked questions
How much does an Australia trip cost from Ahmedabad?
Packages on this page start at ₹95,000 per person. A 9-night Sydney, Melbourne and Cairns trip in 3-star hotels costs about ₹1,65,000–2,00,000 per person excluding flights; 4-star takes it to ₹2,20,000–2,80,000. Add ₹70,000–1,10,000 for return flights from Ahmedabad, about ₹11,500 for the visa and ₹25,000–30,000 for meals not included.
Do Indians need a visa for Australia?
Yes – a Visitor visa (subclass 600) applied for online before travel; there is no visa on arrival. We prepare and submit the application, arrange your biometrics appointment in Ahmedabad and track the decision. Most tourist visas are decided in 2–5 weeks, but approval is at the discretion of the Australian authorities, so we start 10 weeks before departure.
How many days are enough for a first Australia trip?
Nine to ten nights is the right first trip – Sydney, Melbourne and Cairns, or Sydney, the Gold Coast and Cairns for families. Seven nights works for Sydney plus the Gold Coast only. Anything under seven nights does not justify the 16-hour journey from Ahmedabad. Add 4–5 nights if you want New Zealand in the same trip.
Is there a direct flight from Ahmedabad to Australia?
No. We route you with one stop via Singapore, Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok (15–18 hours total), or connect through Delhi or Mumbai to a non-stop flight to Sydney or Melbourne. We book open-jaw tickets – into one city, out of another – so no sector is repeated, and include the internal flights in the package.
Which is the best time to visit Australia from India?
October–November is the best all-round window: spring weather in Sydney and Melbourne, clear reef water and prices below the Australian Christmas peak, and it matches Diwali holidays. December–January is summer and the most expensive. April–May is excellent for Queensland and the Reef during the Gujarat vacation, though Melbourne is cool by then.
Is vegetarian and Jain food available in Australia?
Easily in Sydney and Melbourne, which have large Gujarati communities – Harris Park in Sydney and Dandenong in Melbourne have pure-veg thali restaurants and sweet shops, and Jain meals are cooked on request. The Gold Coast and Cairns have Indian restaurants with vegetarian menus. Supermarkets stock Indian ready meals, and we book apartment-style hotels where families prefer to cook.
Is Australia good for a honeymoon?
Yes, especially with 12 or more nights. Sydney harbour-view rooms, a Yarra Valley balloon flight, the Great Ocean Road and three nights at Hamilton Island in the Whitsundays with a Heart Reef flight make a varied, relaxed honeymoon. Compared with Europe, the language, safety and food are easier; the cost is similar.
Is the Great Barrier Reef suitable for non-swimmers and seniors?
Yes. Outer-reef pontoon cruises from Cairns include a glass-bottom boat, a semi-submersible and an underwater observatory, so you see the coral without entering the water. Snorkelling is guided and life jackets are provided. Stinger suits are issued from November to May. The cruise is a full day, so we keep the following morning free.
Can we combine Australia with New Zealand?
Yes. New Zealand adds 4–5 nights (Auckland, Rotorua, Queenstown) and roughly ₹1,00,000–1,40,000 per person including the trans-Tasman flight, and needs a separate NZ visitor visa that we also apply for. We suggest it for trips of 13 nights or longer; for a first 9–10 night trip, Australia alone is enough.
What is usually not included in an Australia package?
International flights unless added, the visitor visa fee, travel insurance, Great Barrier Reef cruise and theme-park passes unless named, Sydney Tower, Opera House tours, Scenic World rides, meals not listed, personal shopping and 5% GST. Tips are optional in Australia. Every quote lists each exclusion so you can add it if you wish.
Is Australia suitable for senior citizens?
Yes, with the right pacing. We break the long flight with a night in Singapore each way if wished, keep one free day in each city, choose a hotel stop on the Great Ocean Road rather than a 12-hour return, and pick reef cruises with a semi-submersible. Australian cities, hotels and attractions are fully accessible, and medical care is excellent.
How far in advance should we book an Australia trip?
Ten to twelve weeks before departure for Diwali or December travel – that allows the visa timeline, biometrics and good fares from Ahmedabad. For other months, eight weeks is comfortable. Australian school holidays (mid-December to late January, and two weeks in April, July and September) push hotel prices up, so avoid them where you can.
How much is the Australian tourist visa fee for Indians?
The base application charge for the visitor visa subclass 600, Tourist stream, lodged outside Australia is AUD 250 per applicant from 1 July 2026, plus a small card surcharge. It is paid online through ImmiAccount and is not refunded if the application is refused. This is as of October 2026; fees are revised each July, so we confirm before lodging.
How long does an Australian visitor visa take from India?
Most tourist applications are decided within about three to six weeks after biometrics are given, though some take longer. Peak periods before Christmas and the Indian summer holidays are slower. We recommend lodging eight to ten weeks before your flight. Approval is at the discretion of the Department of Home Affairs.
Where do I give biometrics for an Australian visa in Gujarat?
After the online application is lodged, Home Affairs normally sends a biometrics request letter. You then book an appointment at the Australia Visa Application Centre run by VFS Global; Gujarat applicants usually use the Ahmedabad centre. Fingerprints and a photo take a short visit. We book the slot and tell you which original documents to carry.
Can I carry homemade food like thepla to Australia?
You may carry food, but you must declare every item on the Incoming Passenger Card. Officers inspect it and may allow commercially packed snacks while seizing homemade, fresh, dairy or seed items. Not declaring can lead to a large fine. Carrying sealed packets from known brands is the safest way to bring Gujarati snacks.
Can I visit my relatives in Australia on a tour package?
Yes. Many Ahmedabad families do exactly that. We book the parts you want – flights, some hotel nights, sightseeing days and domestic flights – and leave free days for your relatives. If you stay with them, an invitation letter strengthens the visa file. Every package is private, so the plan follows your family's timetable.
