Adventure Tour Packages from Ahmedabad
Ladakh road trips, Ganga rafting, Andaman reefs and Himalayan treks – adventure planned with permits, acclimatisation and safety gear sorted, so you only have to show up fit.
Adventure travel from Ahmedabad used to mean a college trip to Manali. Today it means a 30-year-old couple driving the Manali–Leh highway, a family with teenagers learning to scuba dive at Havelock, a group of friends paragliding at Bir, and a 55-year-old doing the Everest Base Camp trek he promised himself at 40. The destinations are well known; what is not well explained is who each one suits, how fit you need to be, what the permits cost and what time of year it is actually safe.
This page is that explanation. Every adventure trip we plan is private – your own dates, your own vehicle and driver where roads are involved, licensed local operators for the activity itself – with the paperwork, insurance and emergency contacts arranged from our C G Road office in Ahmedabad.

Ladakh and Spiti – the high-altitude road trips
These are the two trips we are asked about most, and the two where planning matters most.
Ladakh (6–7 nights)
- Fly in, acclimatise: Ahmedabad–Leh via Delhi lands you at about 3,500 m. Days 1 and 2 are rest and gentle Leh sightseeing (Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace, Hall of Fame) – no exceptions, even for the fit.
- Route: Leh – Sham Valley (Magnetic Hill, Sangam, Alchi) – Nubra via Khardung La (Diskit, Hunder sand dunes, Turtuk) – Pangong via Shyok road – back to Leh via Chang La. Add Tso Moriri and Hanle with two more nights.
- Permits: Inner Line Permits for Nubra, Pangong and Tso Moriri are applied online; we arrange them before you land.
- Vehicle: a Ladakh-registered Innova or Xylo with a local driver is mandatory for most routes; self-drive is possible only with Ladakh-registered rentals. Bikers can rent Royal Enfields in Leh with a back-up vehicle we provide.
- Health: we carry an oxygen cylinder in the vehicle, recommend Diamox after consulting your doctor, and advise anyone over 60 or with heart or blood-pressure conditions to get written clearance first.
- Manali–Leh or Srinagar–Leh by road: for the full experience, fly Ahmedabad–Srinagar, drive to Leh over Zoji La and Kargil (2 days, gradual altitude gain), tour Ladakh, and drive out via the Manali highway (2 days) to fly home from Chandigarh or Delhi. Ten to eleven nights.
Spiti (7–8 nights)
- The full circle (Shimla – Kinnaur – Nako – Tabo – Kaza – Kunzum – Chandratal – Manali) is open roughly June to early October, when Kunzum Pass and Rohtang/Atal Tunnel routes are both open.
- The winter half (Shimla side up to Kaza) is open most of the year for snow lovers, but temperatures drop to –20°C and homestays are the only option.
- Roads are rougher than Ladakh – expect 7–9 hours of driving on the longest days. Not for anyone with back problems or motion sickness.
- Highlights: Key monastery, Kibber and Chicham bridge, Langza's fossil fields and Buddha statue, Hikkim's post office, Komic, Dhankar lake hike, a night under the stars at Chandratal camp.
Water adventures – rafting, scuba and sea sports
- Rishikesh rafting: the Shivpuri–Rishikesh stretch (16 km, Grade II–III rapids like Roller Coaster and Golf Course) is the standard run; Marine Drive (26 km) adds Grade III+ and takes 4 hours; Kaudiyala (36 km) is for the experienced. Camps at Shivpuri include rafting, meals and bonfire. Rafting shuts from late June to early September.
- Andaman scuba: Havelock (Swaraj Dweep) and Neil (Shaheed Dweep) have reef dives for complete beginners – a 30–45 minute discover scuba dive with an instructor, no swimming needed. PADI Open Water certification takes 3–4 days. Sea walk at North Bay and snorkelling at Elephant Beach suit children and grandparents.
- Thailand scuba: Koh Tao is one of the cheapest places in the world to get certified; Phuket and Krabi have day-trip dives to Phi Phi and the Similan Islands (October–May).
- Bali: Ayung river rafting near Ubud (Grade II–III, suitable from 7 years), Nusa Penida snorkelling with manta rays, surf schools at Kuta and Canggu, and Waterbom park for families.
- Meghalaya: kayaking and snorkelling in the clear Umngot river at Dawki and Shnongpdeng, with riverside camping.
- Kerala: bamboo rafting on Periyar lake (full-day, with forest walk) and kayaking in the Alleppey canals.
Air and mountain adventures – paragliding, treks and caving
- Bir Billing paragliding: take-off from Billing (2,400 m), landing at Bir, a tandem flight of 15–30 minutes with a licensed pilot; cross-country flights of an hour or more for the brave. Fly Ahmedabad–Chandigarh or Dharamshala, then 2–3 hours by road. The Tibetan colony, Deer Park and nearby Barot valley make a relaxed 4-night trip.
- Vagamon paragliding: Kerala's own take-off site, best from September to May; a convenient add-on to a Munnar–Thekkady trip.
- Nepal treks: Poon Hill (3,210 m, 4 days from Pokhara) is the ideal first Himalayan trek for families and anyone over 50. Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m, 8–10 days) needs moderate fitness. Everest Base Camp (5,364 m, 12–14 days from Lukla) needs a previous high-altitude trek, 3 months of training and a flexible return date because Lukla flights are weather-dependent. We work only with registered Nepali trekking agencies with licensed guides and porters.
- Himachal treks: Triund (Dharamshala, 1 day), Hampta Pass (Manali, 4–5 days, June–September), Kheerganga (Kasol, 2 days), and Beas Kund – good practice before Nepal or Ladakh.
- Meghalaya caving and the root-bridge trek: Mawsmai is lit and easy; Arwah has fossils; Siju and Krem Liat Prah are for guided serious caving. The double-decker root bridge at Nongriat is about 3,500 steps down and up – 4–6 hours and the hardest part of a Meghalaya trip, worth training for.
- Dubai skydiving: a tandem jump over the Palm Jumeirah (18+, under 90 kg, booked weeks ahead) is the single most-requested adventure add-on on our Dubai trips.
Fitness and age guidance – honest answers
| Level | What it means | Trips |
|---|---|---|
| Easy | Anyone in ordinary health; children from 7–10 with parents; seniors with no heart or breathing issues | Rishikesh rafting (14+), Andaman scuba and sea walk, Bir tandem flight, Bali, Thailand island hopping, Dubai desert, Poon Hill at a slow pace |
| Moderate | Can walk 8–10 km in a day with climbs; comfortable with long drives or 2–3 days above 3,000 m | Ladakh road trip, Spiti circuit, Meghalaya root-bridge trek, Hampta Pass, Annapurna Base Camp, Mount Batur |
| Hard | Trained for 3 months, previous high-altitude experience, 12+ days available | Everest Base Camp, Chadar trek, Zanskar rafting expeditions, Stok Kangri-type peaks |
- Altitude is the real risk on Ladakh, Spiti and Nepal trips, not fitness. Headache, nausea and breathlessness on day one are normal; worsening symptoms mean descending. We build rest days in and never schedule Khardung La or Kunzum on your first two days.
- Medical clearance is advised for anyone over 60, pregnant women, and anyone with heart, lung, blood-pressure or diabetes conditions before Ladakh, Spiti, Nepal treks or scuba. Scuba operators ask you to sign a medical declaration.
- Children: rafting operators take children from 14 on the main stretch (some run calmer family stretches from 10); scuba intro dives from 10; paragliding tandem from 14 with a parent's consent; Ladakh is fine for children over 12 who are told to drink water constantly.
- Insurance: standard travel policies exclude adventure sports and altitude above 3,000–4,500 m. We arrange adventure-cover policies for Ladakh, Nepal treks and scuba trips; for Nepal we also recommend helicopter-evacuation cover.
Pure-veg food, packing and practicalities
- Food: Rishikesh is entirely vegetarian; Ladakh, Spiti, Meghalaya and Nepal all have vegetarian options and Leh, Kaza and Pokhara have Indian and Gujarati restaurants; Andaman hotels serve pure-veg on request. We confirm Jain meals where kitchens can manage them and carry dry snacks in the vehicle on long drives.
- Packing: layers (even Ladakh in July is cold at night), a windproof jacket, trekking shoes broken in before the trip, sunglasses and SPF 50, a reusable bottle, power bank, and your medicines. Scuba and rafting gear is provided by the operator.
- Connectivity: only postpaid SIMs work in Ladakh (BSNL and Jio best); Spiti and Nongriat have patchy or no network – tell your family in advance.
- Documents: Aadhaar for permits in Ladakh and Spiti; passport for Nepal (or voter ID), Bali, Thailand and Dubai.
- Getting there from Ahmedabad: Leh via Delhi (about 5–6 hours total); Rishikesh via a Dehradun flight or overnight train to Haridwar; Port Blair via Chennai, Bengaluru or Kolkata; Shillong via Guwahati; Bir via Chandigarh or Dharamshala; Kathmandu via Delhi; Bangkok, Dubai and Singapore (for Bali) non-stop.

Adventure tour packages from Ahmedabad – frequently asked questions
How much does an adventure trip from Ahmedabad cost?
A 3-night Rishikesh rafting trip starts under ₹15,000 per person excluding flights and ₹15,000–28,000 including them. Bir Billing with paragliding costs ₹22,000–38,000, Ladakh ₹40,000–70,000, Andaman with scuba ₹38,000–60,000, and Nepal treks ₹45,000–1,40,000 depending on length. Activity fees are listed separately on every quote.
Is Ladakh safe for first-time travellers from Ahmedabad?
Yes, if you respect the altitude. We schedule two rest days in Leh, carry oxygen in the vehicle, use local drivers who know the passes, and arrange Inner Line Permits in advance. Anyone over 60 or with heart, lung or blood-pressure conditions should get a doctor's clearance first. June to September is the safe window for the road trip.
What is the best time for adventure trips?
Ladakh and Spiti June–September; Rishikesh rafting September–June (closed in monsoon); Andaman scuba October–May; Meghalaya October–April; Bir Billing October–June with October–November the best flying weather; Nepal treks October–November and March–May; Bali April–October; Thailand November–April; Dubai November–March.
Can children join adventure activities?
Many of them. Scuba intro dives and sea walks from 10 years, rafting on the main Rishikesh stretch from 14 (calmer family stretches from 10 with some operators), tandem paragliding from 14 with parental consent, Bali rafting from 7, and Ladakh road trips from about 12. Everest Base Camp, Chadar and skydiving are adults-only in practice.
How fit do I need to be for Ladakh or a Nepal trek?
For the Ladakh road trip, ordinary fitness plus the discipline to rest on arrival – altitude, not stamina, is the challenge. Poon Hill needs the ability to walk 5–6 hours a day on steps. Annapurna Base Camp needs 8–10 days of 6–7 hour walking. Everest Base Camp needs three months of training and prior high-altitude experience.
Is adventure travel insured?
Standard travel insurance excludes adventure sports and high altitude, so we arrange adventure-cover policies for Ladakh, Spiti, Nepal treks and scuba trips, and recommend helicopter-evacuation cover for Nepal. Licensed operators carry their own liability cover; we book only with registered rafting, diving, paragliding and trekking companies.
Do you arrange the Ladakh and Spiti permits?
Yes. Inner Line Permits for Nubra, Pangong, Tso Moriri and Hanle are applied online with your Aadhaar before you land in Leh, and the environment fee is paid with them. Spiti needs no permit for Indian citizens on the main circuit. We also handle Chadar trek registration and medical checks when you book that trip.
Can I do a bike trip to Ladakh through you?
Yes. We arrange Royal Enfield rentals in Leh or Manali, a back-up vehicle carrying luggage, spares and oxygen, a mechanic on longer routes, and hotels and camps along the way. You need a valid licence, riding experience in the hills and a helmet of your own or rented. The Manali–Leh highway needs 2 days each way.
Is pure-vegetarian food available on adventure trips?
Yes. Rishikesh is fully vegetarian, Leh and Kaza have Indian and Gujarati restaurants, Nepal's tea houses serve dal-bhat and vegetarian thalis, Andaman hotels cook pure-veg on request, and Bali, Thailand and Dubai have Indian restaurants in every tourist area. We confirm Jain meals where kitchens can manage them and carry snacks on long drives.
What is the easiest adventure trip for a family with grandparents?
Andaman: sea walk and snorkelling for the grandparents, scuba for the teenagers, Radhanagar beach for everyone, and no altitude or long drives. Rishikesh with a calm family rafting stretch and camping, or Bali with Ayung rafting and Nusa Penida snorkelling, are the next best. Ladakh works for fit seniors with a doctor's clearance and three rest days.
How many days do I need for Ladakh, Spiti or Meghalaya?
Ladakh: 6–7 nights flying in and out of Leh, 10–11 if you drive in from Srinagar and out via Manali. Spiti: 7–8 nights for the full circle from Shimla to Manali. Meghalaya: 6 nights covering Shillong, Cherrapunji, Nongriat, Dawki and Mawlynnong. Rishikesh and Bir need 3–4 nights each.
Can a group of friends travel together on their own dates?
Yes. Friend groups and extended families travel together as a private group on their own dates – one or more vehicles, camps or hotels block-booked, activities scheduled for the whole group and one consultant handling everyone. Ladakh, Spiti, Rishikesh, Bir and Meghalaya are the most popular friend-group trips from Ahmedabad.
