Tour Packages from Kolkata
Darjeeling, Sikkim, Bhutan and the North East on your doorstep, Bangkok two and a half hours away – private trips for Kolkata travellers, planned on WhatsApp and phone.
Kolkata is the natural starting point for the eastern Himalaya. A one-hour flight to Bagdogra or an overnight train to New Jalpaiguri puts you within a few hours of Darjeeling, Gangtok and the Dooars, and Druk Air and Bhutan Airlines fly from Kolkata to Paro. Guwahati, gateway to Shillong, Kaziranga and Tawang, is about 1¼ hours away. Kolkata is also well placed for the sea: Port Blair is about two hours by air, and the Vande Bharat reaches Puri in roughly 6½ hours. Abroad, Bangkok is only about 2½ hours from Kolkata, closer than from any other metro.
Vibrant Holidays is a travel agency based in Ahmedabad that has planned holidays since 2014. We do not have a Kolkata office. Each trip is private – your own dates, your own car and driver, hotels you approve before paying. We do not run group tours.

Planning tips for travellers from Kolkata
Kolkata airport
Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport at Dum Dum handles domestic and international flights from one integrated terminal. From Salt Lake or New Town allow about 30 to 45 minutes; from south Kolkata, Behala or Howrah allow 1¼ hours or more, especially on weekday evenings and during Puja traffic.
Howrah or Sealdah
Howrah handles the Vande Bharat trains to New Jalpaiguri and Puri along with most trains to the West and South. Sealdah runs the classic overnight trains to the hills, such as the Darjeeling Mail and Padatik Express to New Jalpaiguri. Kolkata (Chitpur), Shalimar and Santragachi stations handle some long-distance trains too, so check the station printed on your ticket.
Planning around the Puja holidays
Durga Puja is the biggest travel window of the year for Kolkata families. Offices close around Saptami to Dashami, and many schools stay closed from the Puja through Kali Puja and Bhai Phonta. Most families leave right after Dashami, which makes that week the most expensive for Darjeeling, Sikkim, Puri, the Andaman Islands and Bangkok. Book three to four months ahead for Puja dates, and consider leaving a few days later if your holidays allow.
Bhutan and Sikkim permits
Indian citizens visiting Bhutan need a valid passport or voter ID, and pay a Sustainable Development Fee per person per night, which we include in your quote. North Sikkim, Nathula and Tsomgo Lake need permits arranged through registered local operators, for which we need ID copies a few days before travel. We handle both as part of the booking.
Tour Packages from Kolkata: FAQs
Do you have an office in Kolkata?
No. Vibrant Holidays is based in Ahmedabad, and our team plans trips for Kolkata travellers remotely. We discuss your plan on WhatsApp or phone, send a PDF itinerary and quote, and share vouchers, permits, hotel confirmations and driver details before departure. Payment is by bank transfer or UPI against an invoice, and support is available 24×7 during the trip.
Should I fly or take the train from Kolkata to Darjeeling?
Both work. The flight to Bagdogra takes about an hour, and you reach Darjeeling the same afternoon. The Vande Bharat from Howrah takes about 7½ hours to New Jalpaiguri, and overnight trains from Sealdah save a hotel night. For families with senior citizens, a morning flight is usually less tiring than an early-morning arrival at NJP.
How do I travel to Bhutan from Kolkata?
Druk Air and Bhutan Airlines fly from Kolkata to Paro on certain days, in about an hour to an hour and a half. The other route is by road: fly or take a train to Bagdogra or Hasimara, drive to Jaigaon and enter Bhutan at Phuentsholing. Indians need a passport or voter ID; we arrange the entry permit and the daily fee.
When should Kolkata families book a Puja holiday?
Book three to four months ahead. Flights and trains around Dashami fill early, and good hotels in Darjeeling, Gangtok, Puri and the Andaman Islands sell out. Fares for Bangkok and Singapore also rise sharply in Puja week. If you can leave three or four days after Dashami, prices drop and the hill weather in late October is usually clear.
Are flights or trains included in your tour packages from Kolkata?
Most package prices on this page are land-only, because fares from Kolkata change daily and swing sharply around the Puja. We can book flights or trains with your package so that pick-ups and check-ins match your schedule. If a flight is rescheduled or a train runs late into NJP, our team adjusts the car and hotel for you.
Can you plan a North East trip covering Meghalaya and Kaziranga?
Yes. A typical route starts in Guwahati, spends three nights in Shillong and Cherrapunji, then two nights in Kaziranga for jeep safaris, and returns to Guwahati. Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh needs an Inner Line Permit and two days of driving each way, so add four or five nights for it. Kaziranga safaris run roughly November to April.
Do you run group tours from Kolkata?
No. Every trip we plan is private and customised: your own dates, your own car and driver, and hotels you approve. Large families travelling together during the Puja can travel as a private group on their own dates, and we arrange vehicles and room combinations to suit. Local guides can be added for monasteries, tea estates or wildlife days.
