Vietnam Tour Packages from Kolkata
Board at Dum Dum after midnight, watch the sun come up over Hanoi – private Vietnam holidays from Kolkata, planned around the overnight non-stop, the Puja break and a Bengali appetite for fish.
No big Indian city is closer to Vietnam than Kolkata. The IndiGo non-stop from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport reaches Hanoi in about 2 hours 40 minutes – about as long as a flight from Kolkata to Bengaluru – and because it leaves around 1 am, you land in time for breakfast in the Old Quarter. That makes northern Vietnam a realistic five-night trip for a Puja break or a winter holiday, not a once-in-a-lifetime plan, and it costs less than most people expect.
This page is for travellers from Kolkata, Howrah and Salt Lake, and for families from Siliguri, Durgapur or Asansol who fly out of CCU. It covers indicative package costs, how the overnight flight shapes day one and why the return leaves Hanoi around midday, the e-visa as of November 2026, three itineraries, how Durga Puja, the winter holidays and Poila Baisakh map onto Vietnam's regional seasons, and food for both the fish lovers and the vegetarians at the table. Planning is done by our team in Ahmedabad on WhatsApp and phone; we do not have a Kolkata office, and all tickets and vouchers are sent as PDFs.

Making the 1 am departure work
- All international flights use the integrated terminal at Dum Dum. Reach it by about 10.30 pm for a 1 am flight.
- The Yellow Line Metro to Jai Hind (Biman Bandar) station, opened in August 2025, helps for daytime flights from north Kolkata via Noapara. At night a cab is the practical choice: about 30 – 45 minutes from Salt Lake or New Town, an hour or more from Behala, Garia or Howrah.
- Have dinner at home and sleep on the plane. You land before sunrise, and we either book the hotel room from the previous night or drive straight to Ha Long Bay to board a cruise at noon, which turns the "lost" morning into a gain.
- Travellers from Siliguri, Guwahati or Bhubaneswar can take an evening domestic flight into CCU; leave three hours between flights if they are on separate tickets.
Vietnam e-visa for Kolkata travellers
Indian passport holders need a visa for mainland Vietnam. As of November 2026, the government e-visa on evisa.gov.vn costs USD 25 for a single entry or USD 50 for multiple entries and allows a stay of up to 90 days. Processing is usually three to five working days.
- What we need from you: a clear scan of the passport's photo page (valid six months beyond your return), a recent photo on a white background, and your entry and exit dates.
- Entry point: for this route the e-visa must name Noi Bai International Airport, Hanoi. If you plan to cross to Cambodia or Laos and come back, choose multiple entry.
- Before the Puja rush: apply at least three weeks before travel. Around Tet, Vietnam's New Year in late January or February, processing slows.
- Look-alike sites: several private websites charge USD 70 or more for the same form. We file on the official portal.
We prepare and submit the application; approval is at the discretion of Vietnam's Immigration Department. Step-by-step details are in our Vietnam visa guide for Indians.
Three Vietnam itineraries from Kolkata

- Day 5: Back to Hanoi; Old Quarter shopping, egg coffee, a Bengali-friendly fish dinner at Cha Ca street.
- Day 6: Midday flight home.
6 nights / 7 days – winter in the hills: Hanoi, Sapa and Ha Long

- Day 3: Fansipan cable car to the "roof of Indochina" at 3,143 m, then a walk down to Cat Cat village. Sapa in December and January is 5 – 12°C, colder than Darjeeling at the same time, with frost on some mornings.
- Day 4: Muong Hoa valley terraces and a Hmong village; drive back to Hanoi.
- Days 5 – 6: Ha Long overnight cruise, then a final Hanoi evening.
- Day 7: Fly to Kolkata.
Kolkata families who love Darjeeling and Sikkim usually like Sapa; the difference is rice terraces where you would expect tea gardens.
8 nights / 9 days – honeymoon after a winter wedding: North and Central
- Days 1 – 2: Hanoi boutique hotel with decoration; city tour and a rooftop dinner.
- Day 3: Deluxe Ha Long cruise with a balcony cabin and a private dinner on deck.
- Day 4: Back to Hanoi; evening flight to Da Nang.
- Day 5: Ba Na Hills – the Golden Bridge held by giant stone hands and the French Village by cable car.
- Days 6 – 7: Hoi An – lantern boat on the Thu Bon river, a basket-boat ride in the coconut forest, tailors who stitch a suit in a day, a couple's spa.
- Day 8: An Bang beach or the Marble Mountains.
- Day 9: Fly Da Nang–Hanoi and on to Kolkata the same day.
Central Vietnam is often wet from October to early December, so for a November or December wedding we swap Da Nang for two nights on Phu Quoc. Each trip is private, with your own car and guide; extended families travel as a private group on their own dates.
Puja, winter and Poila Baisakh: matching Kolkata's holidays to Vietnam's regions
Vietnam has three climates from north to south, and Kolkata's holiday calendar falls neatly on them.
- Durga Puja (October): the North is at its best – clear skies and 22 – 28°C in Hanoi, calm water on Ha Long Bay. In 2027 Saptami falls on 6 October and Dashami on 10 October. Families who leave on the night of Dashami pay peak fares; leaving two or three days later, still inside the long school break, is usually cheaper. Avoid Central Vietnam in Puja season, when Hoi An can flood.
- Kali Puja and Bhai Phonta: still good for the North, and the start of the dry season in the South.
- Christmas and the winter break: Hanoi drops to 12 – 18°C with mist, which many Kolkata travellers enjoy; Sapa is cold. Phu Quoc and Ho Chi Minh City are dry and warm. A north-plus-south trip covers both moods.
- Poila Baisakh (mid-April): Central Vietnam is dry and Hoi An's beaches are calm; Ha Long is clear too. A good time for a first trip for couples.
- Summer vacation (May – June): choose Da Nang, Hoi An and Ba Na Hills; the North turns hot and stormy.
- Bengali wedding months: Agrahayan and Magh, roughly late November to February, fill honeymoon cruise cabins early. Book the cruise as soon as the date is fixed.

Food for Kolkata travellers: fish lovers and vegetarians
Vietnam is a rice-and-fish country, which suits most Bengali travellers well, and it has a long Buddhist vegetarian tradition for those who do not eat fish.
- For the fish lovers: Hanoi's cha ca – turmeric-marinated fish fried at the table with dill and spring onion – is the dish Kolkata clients talk about after the trip. The Mekong Delta serves whole fried elephant-ear fish wrapped in rice paper, Ha Long cruises put out squid, clams and prawns, and Phu Quoc's night market grills seafood to order. Mustard oil and kasundi are missing; some travellers pack a small bottle of kasundi.
- Rice every day: com (steamed rice) comes with almost every meal, so nobody goes without bhaat. Pho noodle soup is the breakfast of choice.
- Vegetarians and Marwari or Jain families: look for "com chay" Buddhist vegetarian restaurants, which cook without fish sauce. Hanoi's Old Quarter, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City's District 1 have several Indian restaurants; Jain food needs advance notice, which we give in writing. Ha Long cruises serve a vegetarian set menu when booked.
- Fish sauce: nuoc mam goes into many "vegetable" dishes. Say "khong nuoc mam" (no fish sauce) and "an chay" (I eat vegetarian).
- Sweets: there is no mishti doi, but egg coffee in Hanoi, coconut candy from the Mekong and che, a sweet bean-and-coconut dessert, are good substitutes.
Practical notes
- Money: about 300 Vietnamese dong to the rupee. Carry VND 2,000,000 – 3,000,000 cash per couple for markets and tips, plus a forex card. Count the zeros on the 20,000 and 500,000 notes.
- Packing for winter trips: a proper jacket for Hanoi from December to February and warm layers, gloves and a cap for Sapa – the kind you would carry to Lachung.
- Getting around: private cars are included; Grab is cheap for free evenings. Cross Hanoi's roads at a steady walk and let the scooters flow around you.
- Phones: buy a Viettel tourist SIM or eSIM at Noi Bai; Wi-Fi is fast almost everywhere.

How much does a Vietnam tour package from Kolkata cost?
Our Vietnam packages currently start at ₹21,999 per person for 3 nights. Most of our Vietnam packages fall between ₹48,000 and ₹70,000 per person. The final cost depends on the travel month, hotel category, number of travellers and whether flights from Kolkata are added. Open any package below to see exactly what is included, or ask us for a quote with flights.
Is there a direct flight from Kolkata to Vietnam?
Yes. As of November 2026 IndiGo flies non-stop from Kolkata to Hanoi, leaving around 1.10 am and landing about 5.20 am Vietnam time after roughly 2 hours 40 minutes; current listings show it daily. Ho Chi Minh City is usually reached with one stop, though IndiGo has sold non-stops on some days. We confirm the schedule for your dates.
What time does the Hanoi flight return to Kolkata?
The IndiGo non-stop usually leaves Hanoi between about 11.40 am and 2 pm local time and reaches Kolkata in the early to mid-afternoon. That means your last morning is for check-out and the airport, so we plan the final night in Hanoi, close to Noi Bai, rather than on a cruise or in Sapa.
How do I reach Kolkata airport for a 1 am flight?
Take a cab. The Yellow Line Metro now reaches Jai Hind (Biman Bandar) station at the airport, but trains do not run that late. From Salt Lake or New Town allow 30 to 45 minutes; from Behala, Garia or Howrah, an hour or more. Reach the terminal by about 10.30 pm for international check-in.
Is Vietnam good for a Durga Puja holiday from Kolkata?
Very good, if you choose the North. October brings clear skies and 22 to 28°C in Hanoi and calm water on Ha Long Bay. In 2027 Dashami falls on 10 October; flights out that night cost the most, so leaving two or three days later saves money. Avoid Hoi An and Da Nang in October, when floods are possible.
How much does the Vietnam e-visa cost for people from Kolkata?
As of November 2026, the official e-visa costs USD 25 for a single entry or USD 50 for multiple entries, valid for up to 90 days, and is usually processed in three to five working days. We prepare and submit it on the government portal with Hanoi's Noi Bai airport as the entry point; approval is at Vietnam's discretion.
How many days are enough for Vietnam from Kolkata?
Five nights cover Hanoi, an overnight Ha Long cruise and Ninh Binh, which suits a Puja break. Six or seven nights add Sapa in winter. Eight or nine nights combine the North with Da Nang and Hoi An, or run from Hanoi to Phu Quoc. The short flight means even a five-night trip feels unhurried.
Will Bengali fish lovers enjoy Vietnamese food?
Most do. Rice comes with nearly every meal, and Hanoi's cha ca, turmeric fish fried with dill at the table, is a favourite with Kolkata travellers. Ha Long cruises serve squid, clams and prawns, and Phu Quoc grills seafood to order. Mustard oil and kasundi are the only things missing, so some people pack their own.
Is vegetarian food available in Vietnam for Marwari or Jain families?
Yes, with planning. Buddhist "com chay" restaurants cook without fish sauce, and Hanoi, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City have several Indian restaurants with large vegetarian menus. Jain meals need advance notice, which we give each hotel and cruise in writing. Fish sauce is common in local dishes, so always ask.
Is Sapa worth adding on a winter trip from Kolkata?
Yes, if you enjoy the hills. Sapa sits among terraced rice fields under Fansipan, Indochina's highest peak, reached by cable car. In December and January it is 5 to 12°C with frosty mornings, colder than Darjeeling, so pack warm layers. It needs two nights and about 5½ hours by road each way from Hanoi.
Vietnam or Thailand from Kolkata – which should we choose?
Both are under three hours from Dum Dum. Thailand is easier for shopping, nightlife and Indian food and is very familiar. Vietnam offers more scenery – the Ha Long cruise, Ninh Binh and Hoi An – costs a little more once the e-visa and cruise are added, and fewer Indian tourists go there.
