The Statue of Unity stands on Sadhu Bet island in the Narmada, about 3 km below the Sardar Sarovar dam, in what is now called Ekta Nagar (Kevadia), Narmada district. At 182 m it is the tallest statue in the world, and the area around it has grown into a full visitor zone: a viewing gallery inside the statue, a zoo-style jungle safari park, gardens, a river cruise, rafting, an evening laser and projection show and the Narmada aarti. For Ahmedabad families it is close enough for a long day out, but most people who try to see it all in one day go home tired and having missed half of it.

This page is for travellers starting from Ahmedabad. It sets out what Statue of Unity tour packages from Ahmedabad cost with one or two nights, the road route and the two daily Jan Shatabdi trains with their usual timings, ticket types and prices as of November 2026, the Monday closure, how the free e-buses inside the area work, where to stay at each budget, and how to add Zarwani falls, Rajpipla, Vadodara or Pavagadh and Champaner. Everything we arrange is private: your own car and driver, your own dates and pace.

Statue of Unity package price guide from Ahmedabad

Our Gujarat packages start at ₹11,000 per person today, with 24 on sale. For Ekta Nagar specifically, the bands below are per person on twin sharing, with hotel or tent and breakfast, a private AC car with driver from your door in Ahmedabad and back, tolls and parking. They move with the season, the hotel and the size of the car; Diwali week and long weekends cost the most.

TripStandard (simple hotels in Ekta Nagar or Rajpipla)Deluxe (well-run resorts and tent city)Premium (best resort or premium tents, river side)
1 night / 2 days₹4,500 – 7,000₹7,000 – 11,000₹11,500 – 18,000
2 nights / 3 days₹7,000 – 10,500₹10,500 – 16,500₹17,500 – 28,000
3 nights with Vadodara or Pavagadh₹9,500 – 14,000₹14,000 – 21,000₹23,000 – 36,000

Day trip: no hotel, so we price the car instead – about ₹6,000 – 9,000 for an AC sedan and ₹8,500 – 12,500 for an Innova Crysta for the full day, including tolls and parking.

How to read these: the car is a big part of the cost on a 400 km round trip, so two families in one Innova or a Tempo Traveller bring the per-person price down. Tent stays often include dinner and some activities, which makes them look dearer than a hotel when they are not.

Not in the package price: the statue and gallery tickets, the jungle safari, gardens, cruise, rafting and laser show tickets (listed in the ticket section below), lunches, and any Zarwani or Pavagadh ropeway fees. We book the timed tickets for you on the official portal and add them to the invoice at cost.

Train timings are as listed on railway schedule sites in November 2026; they change, so we recheck them when we book. There is no Vande Bharat running from Ahmedabad to Ekta Nagar at present. If you prefer a Vande Bharat or Shatabdi, take it as far as Vadodara and let our car do the last 90 km, about two hours.

From the station: Ekta Nagar station is a few kilometres from the statue. Free buses run from the station into the area, and you can also arrange a car through us so that your bags are not a problem on the day of checkout.

Best start time by car: leave Ahmedabad by 6:30 am and you reach before 10:30 am, ahead of the midday queues for the gallery lifts. Start later than 9 am and the day becomes a rush.

Tickets, timings and the Monday closure (as of November 2026)

Tickets are sold online on the official Statue of Unity ticketing portal (soutickets.in) in timed slots; buying them in advance is strongly advised, and on busy days counter tickets may simply not be available for the slot you want. • Monday closure: the statue and most attractions are closed on Mondays for maintenance. The authority has occasionally changed the weekly closure in big holiday weeks, so we check the official notice for your dates. Never plan a Sunday-to-Monday trip without checking.
  • Timings: the statue usually opens around 8 am, with gallery slots through the day until late afternoon. The laser and projection show and the Narmada Maha Aarti are in the evening, roughly 6:45 to 8 pm; times shift with the season.
  • Zarwani falls inside the Shoolpaneshwar sanctuary charges a per-vehicle entry and is reached by your own car; it is mainly worth it from July to October.

Ticket prices and slots change without much notice. We confirm the latest fare on the official portal when we book, and the amount on your invoice is what we paid.

Getting around inside Ekta Nagar

Ekta Nagar is spread out: the statue, the safari park, the gardens and the tent cities sit several kilometres apart along the river. The area is run by the Statue of Unity Area Development and Tourism Governance Authority as an "e-city", and private cars are kept to designated parking points rather than driven to every gate.

  • Free e-buses: air-conditioned electric buses run between the main points free of charge. Twenty-five new ones were added on 30 October 2025, bringing the fleet to 55, and they include a lift for wheelchair users.
  • Pink e-rickshaws: driven mostly by local women, they cover short hops at a fixed fare. Handy for families with seniors who do not want to wait for a bus.
  • Your own car: still useful for moving between parking areas, going to Zarwani, Rajpipla or Garudeshwar, and checking out with luggage.
  • Walking: the walk from the bus drop to the statue base is long, partly covered and partly on moving walkways. Inside, lifts take you to the gallery; there is no climbing.

Day trip, one night or two: three Statue of Unity itineraries

Day trip from Ahmedabad (Tuesday to Sunday)

  • 6:30 am: leave Ahmedabad; breakfast on the expressway or at Vadodara.
  • 10:30 am: statue, museum and viewing gallery in your booked slot; Valley of Flowers on the way out.
  • 1:30 pm: Gujarati thali lunch in Ekta Nagar.
  • 2:30 pm: jungle safari park or the Butterfly and Cactus gardens, not both if you have seniors.
  • 5 pm: Sardar Sarovar dam viewpoint, then the drive home, reaching around 9:30 pm. Staying for the laser show means reaching Ahmedabad after midnight, which we do not suggest with children.

1 night / 2 days – the plan most families choose

  • Day 1: leave Ahmedabad by 7 am. Statue and gallery before lunch, check in, rest in the afternoon heat, then Glow Garden, the Narmada Maha Aarti and the laser and projection show in the evening.
  • Day 2: jungle safari park early, when the animals are active and it is cooler; Children Nutrition Park or Arogya Van; Ekta Cruise or the dam viewpoint; lunch, then home by 7 pm.

2 nights / 3 days – everything, without hurrying

  • Day 1: drive from Ahmedabad; Garudeshwar Datta temple and the weir on the way in; evening show and aarti.
  • Day 2: statue and gallery in the first slot, Valley of Flowers, the safari park after lunch, Glow Garden after dark.
  • Day 3: rafting for the adults who want it, or the cruise; Cactus and Butterfly gardens; Zarwani falls in the monsoon or Rajpipla's palace town in winter; drive home.

Two nights is also the right length if your group includes grandparents and small children together: each day then has one big outing and one easy one.

Where to stay: tent cities, resorts and simple hotels

  • Tent cities by the river: two large tent camps near the Narmada offer AC tents with attached bathrooms, a restaurant serving Gujarati meals, and evening programmes. They suit families who want the stay to be part of the trip. Premium tents and river-view rows sell out first.
  • Resorts and hotels in Ekta Nagar: a growing number of mid-range and upscale hotels sit within a short drive of the statue and the safari park. They are the practical choice for seniors, with lifts, proper rooms and quieter nights.
  • Budget stays in Rajpipla and around: simpler hotels about 20–25 km away cost noticeably less and work if you have a car and do not mind the extra drive.
  • Vadodara: about two hours away; useful if you want city hotels and plan to see Laxmi Vilas Palace or Pavagadh the next day.

We tell you plainly which properties are far from the statue, which tents face the river and which ones face a parking area. For Diwali week, book four to six weeks ahead.

Adding Zarwani, Rajpipla, Vadodara or Pavagadh and Champaner

  • Zarwani waterfall: in the Shoolpaneshwar wildlife sanctuary near Ekta Nagar, a short forest drive and walk. Full and loud from July to September, thin by winter.
  • Rajpipla: the old princely town of the Gohil rulers, with the Rajvant Palace and the Vijay Palace exteriors, about 25 km from the statue. A calm half-day in winter.
  • Vadodara: on the way home, Laxmi Vilas Palace, the Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum and the old city. One night in Vadodara turns a two-night trip into an easy three.
  • Pavagadh and Champaner: about 45 km from Vadodara. The ropeway goes up to the Mahakali temple, and the Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park below is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with old mosques and step-wells. Avoid Navratri and Sundays if crowds bother you.
  • Further: Ekta Nagar to Saputara is a long day's drive. For a separate hill trip, see our Saputara tour packages from Ahmedabad.

Diwali vacation 2026: Gujarat schools are off from 5 to 25 November 2026, with Diwali on 8 November. Mondays in that window are 9, 16 and 23 November; the 9th is the day after Diwali, when many families plan a trip, so check whether the authority keeps the statue open that day before you fix it. Book gallery slots, the express ticket if you can afford it, and the tents as soon as dates are firm.

Dam overflow: the Sardar Sarovar dam overflows only when the Narmada catchment gets heavy rain and the gates are opened, which in recent years has happened in August or September. It is never guaranteed, and roads near the river can be closed on release days. We watch the news and move your trip by a weekend if needed.

Food, seniors and practical tips for Ahmedabad families

  • Food: Ekta Nagar is used to Gujarati visitors. Thali restaurants, the food courts near the statue and the tent cities all serve Gujarati and Punjabi vegetarian food. Jain meals (no onion, garlic or root vegetables) are made at the better hotels and tent camps with notice; we write the requirement on the voucher.
  • Snacks: carry thepla, khakhra and water for the drive and for the safari park, where food stops are spread out.
  • Seniors: the gallery is reached by lift, the e-buses have a lift for wheelchair users, and most gardens are flat. The tiring part is the walking between drop points. Take one big attraction in the morning, rest after lunch, and keep the laser show for those who are still fresh.
  • Children: the safari park, Children Nutrition Park, Glow Garden and the cruise keep them happy. Rafting is only for 14 and above.
  • Heat: from March to June carry caps, umbrellas and ORS; plan outdoor parks before 11 am.
  • Security checks: bags are screened at the statue; large bags and some items are not allowed inside. Leave them in the car or at the hotel.
  • Bigger families: joint families and friends travel as a private group on their own dates, usually in a Tempo Traveller.

Statue of Unity tour from Ahmedabad: FAQs

How much does a Statue of Unity tour package from Ahmedabad cost?

Our Statue of Unity packages currently start at ₹11,000 per person for 1 nights. Most of our Statue of Unity packages fall between ₹22,500 and ₹38,500 per person. The final cost depends on the travel month, hotel category, number of travellers and whether flights from {$from} are added. Open any package below to see exactly what is included, or ask us for a quote with flights.

How far is the Statue of Unity from Ahmedabad?

It is about 200 km by road, roughly three and a half to four hours by car via the Ahmedabad–Vadodara Expressway and Dabhoi. Vadodara is about 90 km, or two hours, from Ekta Nagar. Leaving Ahmedabad by 6:30 am gets you there before the midday queues at the gallery lifts.

Is there a train from Ahmedabad to the Statue of Unity?

Yes. Two Jan Shatabdi trains run daily from Ahmedabad Junction to Ekta Nagar station, about three hours each. As of November 2026 they leave around 7:55 am and 3:20 pm, and return around 11:15 am and 8:55 pm. Free buses connect the station with the statue area. Timings change, so recheck before booking.

Is the Statue of Unity closed on Monday?

Yes. The statue and most attractions at Ekta Nagar close on Mondays for maintenance. In some big holiday weeks the authority has changed the closure day, so check the official notice if your dates include a Monday such as 9 November 2026, the day after Diwali. Plan a weekend or Tuesday visit instead.

What is the Statue of Unity ticket price?

As of November 2026, the entry ticket costs ₹150 for adults and ₹90 for children, and the viewing gallery ticket costs ₹380 and ₹230. Express entry, with priority lift access, costs about ₹1,030. Children under three go free. The safari park, cruise, gardens, rafting and evening show have separate tickets.

Can we do the Statue of Unity as a day trip from Ahmedabad?

Yes, from Tuesday to Sunday. With an early start you can see the statue and gallery, Valley of Flowers, lunch, one more attraction such as the safari park and the dam viewpoint, and reach home around 9:30 pm. You will miss the evening laser show unless you stay the night.

How many days are enough for the Statue of Unity?

One night is enough for most families: the statue, gallery and evening show on the first day, and the safari park and a garden or cruise on the second. Two nights covers almost everything at an easy pace and suits groups with grandparents and small children together.

Where should we stay near the Statue of Unity?

Tent cities by the Narmada suit families who want the stay to be part of the experience, with Gujarati meals and evening programmes. Hotels and resorts in Ekta Nagar suit seniors better. Simple hotels in Rajpipla, about 25 km away, cost less if you have a car. Book four to six weeks ahead for Diwali.

Can we take our own car inside Ekta Nagar?

You can drive to designated parking points, but movement between the statue and most attractions is by free air-conditioned e-buses, pink e-rickshaws or on foot. The e-bus fleet grew to 55 in October 2025. Your car remains useful for Zarwani falls, Rajpipla, Garudeshwar and checkout with luggage.

When does the Sardar Sarovar dam overflow?

Only after heavy rain in the Narmada catchment, usually in August or September in a good monsoon, when the gates are opened. It is never guaranteed and weekends during an overflow are very crowded. We track water releases and can shift your trip by a weekend to catch it.

Is the Statue of Unity suitable for senior citizens?

Yes, with planning. Lifts take you up to the viewing gallery, the e-buses have lifts, and most gardens are flat. The tiring part is walking between bus drops and gates. We suggest one big attraction each morning, rest after lunch, and a hotel rather than a tent for those who need comfort.

Is Jain food available at the Statue of Unity?

Gujarati and Punjabi vegetarian food is available everywhere in Ekta Nagar. Better hotels and the tent camps prepare Jain meals without onion, garlic or root vegetables when told in advance, and we write it on the voucher. Food courts near the statue may not follow the full restriction, so carry dry snacks.
