The first is the weekend road trip: Coorg, Chikmagalur, Wayanad, Ooty and Kabini are all within a five to eight hour drive, and a private car with a driver turns a tiring Friday-night escape into a relaxed one. Planning tips for travellers from Bengaluru
Getting to KIA
Kempegowda International Airport is about 35 to 40 km north of the city centre, and from Electronic City, Whitefield or Koramangala the drive can take 1½ to 2 hours in peak traffic. For morning international departures we plan an airport-side hotel the night before if you live in the south of the city. The airport has two terminals and airlines are split between them, so check the terminal on your ticket.
Trains from Bengaluru
KSR Bengaluru City (Majestic) and Yeshwantpur are the main stations for long-distance trains, with SMVT Bengaluru at Baiyappanahalli handling several more. The overnight train to Hosapete for Hampi and the trains to Ernakulam for Kerala are comfortable alternatives to flying, especially for senior citizens who prefer a sleeper berth to an early flight.
Weekend road trips done right
Leave before 6 am to clear Mysuru Road or Hosur Road before traffic builds, and return on Sunday afternoon rather than evening. The highway through Bandipur and Mudumalai is closed to traffic at night (roughly 9 pm to 6 am), which shapes any Ooty or Wayanad plan. A two-night weekend in Coorg or Chikmagalur works; Ooty and Hampi are better with three nights.
School holidays and long weekends
Karnataka state-board schools usually close from around mid-April to the end of May and give a Dasara break in late September or October; CBSE and ICSE schools follow their own, often shorter, calendars. Long weekends around Ugadi, Independence Day, Dasara, Diwali and Christmas fill Coorg and Chikmagalur homestays quickly, so book four to six weeks ahead.

Which international destinations are easiest from Bengaluru?
Colombo and Malé are under two hours from KIA, so Sri Lanka and the Maldives suit even a four or five night break. Bangkok, Singapore and Dubai are about four hours away. Bali has a non-stop flight of about six hours, which makes it a realistic honeymoon choice without a connection. We confirm current schedules for your travel dates before booking.
Is Kashmir or Ladakh practical from Bengaluru?
Yes, but plan a slightly longer trip. Most flights from Bengaluru to Srinagar or Leh connect through Delhi, so arrival takes five to seven hours. For Kashmir, six or seven nights works well. For Ladakh, you need at least two acclimatisation days in Leh before going to Nubra or Pangong, so a seven night plan is the minimum we recommend.

Most package prices on this page are land-only, because airfares from Bengaluru change daily. We can add flights or train tickets when you confirm, so that the pick-up time, hotel check-in and sightseeing plan match the actual schedule. If an airline reschedules, the same team adjusts the transfers and hotels for you.
When should Bengaluru families book summer vacation trips?
Karnataka school holidays usually run from mid-April to the end of May, which is also peak season for Kashmir, Himachal and Ooty. Book these by January or February for good hotels and sensible airfares. For international trips in April and May, eight to ten weeks ahead is usually enough, though Bali and Singapore fares rise sharply near the holidays.
Can you arrange vegetarian or Jain meals?
Yes. We request pure-veg or Jain meals from each hotel in advance and confirm them in writing before you pay. In Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu this is simple. In the Andaman Islands, Bali and parts of Southeast Asia choices are more limited, and we tell you honestly where to expect fewer options.
