From Bangalore, Goa is the beach weekend that actually works. Flights from Kempegowda International Airport are short enough that a Friday-afternoon departure still gets you to a shack for dinner, and there is a daily evening train from Yesvantpur that rolls into Madgaon in the small hours. Bengaluru travellers also have something the rest of India does not: a coastline of their own on the way. Gokarna, Murudeshwar, Honnavar and Karwar sit on the Karnataka shore just south of Goa, so a slightly longer trip can pair quiet Karnataka beaches with Goa's food, forts and nightlife.

This page is for travellers starting in Bangalore. It covers realistic package costs, which Goa airport your KIA flight uses and why that matters, the train, bus and road choices including the coastal drive, three itineraries – a fly-in weekend, a Gokarna-and-Goa loop and a slower family week – and planning notes around Karnataka school holidays, IT-company long weekends and the monsoon. Vibrant Holidays is based in Ahmedabad and plans Bengaluru trips on WhatsApp and phone; there is no Bangalore office. Every trip is private, with your own car and driver, and the packages below show live prices.

We currently have 24 Goa packages on sale, starting at ₹5,999 per person. The grid shows typical per-person costs on twin sharing for hotels with breakfast, airport or station transfers and a private AC car for sightseeing. Flights or train tickets from Bangalore are not included.

Return airfare from Bangalore: non-stop Bangalore–Goa returns usually cost ₹5,500 to ₹11,000 per person when booked three to five weeks ahead. Fares peak on Friday evenings, on Christmas and New Year dates, and on any long weekend that follows a Monday or Friday holiday in Karnataka. Midweek departures are often 30–40% cheaper.

What is not included: water sports and parasailing, boat trips to Grande Island or the Palolem islands, Dudhsagar jeep safari tickets, entry to Mirjan Fort and the Gokarna beach-hopping boats, casino entry, meals other than breakfast and personal tips. We list typical rates for each in your quote.

Two things move the price most: whether your Goa nights fall on a Friday and Saturday (resorts charge weekend rates), and how much of the trip is in Gokarna, where good resorts are fewer and cost more than the town's backpacker image suggests.

Bangalore to Goa: flights, trains, buses and the drive

Flights from Kempegowda (BLR)

Several non-stop flights a day connect Bangalore with Goa, flown by airlines including IndiGo, Akasa Air and Air India Express, with about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes in the air. The detail people miss is the airport: some flights land at Dabolim (GOI) near Vasco and others at Manohar International, Mopa (GOX) in the far north. The two are roughly 1½ to 2 hours apart by road.

If your hotel is in…Fly toApproximate transfer
Arambol, Mandrem, Morjim, AshwemMopa (GOX)30 – 45 minutes
Anjuna, Vagator, Calangute, CandolimMopa (GOX)About 1 hour
Panaji, Dona Paula, BambolimEither; Dabolim slightly closer40 – 60 minutes
Colva, Benaulim, Varca, CavelossimDabolim (GOI)30 – 45 minutes
Agonda, Palolem, PatnemDabolim (GOI)About 1½ hours

Bengaluru's airport traffic is its own factor: from Electronic City, Whitefield or Sarjapur allow 1½ to 2 hours to reach KIA at peak times. A mid-morning flight avoids the worst of it and still leaves you a Goa afternoon.

Train from Yesvantpur

The daily Yesvantpur–Vasco da Gama Express leaves Yesvantpur in the afternoon and travels via Tumakuru, Davangere, Hubballi and Londa, then down the Braganza ghat past Dudhsagar falls, reaching Madgaon around 3.30 am – roughly 14 hours in all. It is comfortable in 2AC or 3AC, and the ghat section is spectacular in the monsoon, though in the dark on the way down. Some families take the train back by day instead, when seats and timings allow.

Overnight buses

Private sleeper buses and KSRTC services leave Bangalore in the evening and reach Panaji, Mapusa or Margao the next morning in about 11–13 hours. They are cheap and practical for students and solo travellers. For families we usually suggest the train or a flight instead.

Driving: highway or coast

Leaving Bangalore before 5 am clears the Tumakuru Road exit before traffic builds. Dharwad (for its famous pedha) and Hubballi are the natural lunch stops. We plan the ghat stretches in daylight, especially Anmod and the Yellapur–Ankola descent, which are busy with trucks.

Three Goa itineraries starting from Bangalore

2 nights / 3 days – the KIA weekend (couples and friends)

  • Day 1 (Friday): Late-morning flight from Bangalore into Mopa. Check in near Vagator or Ashwem; sundowner at Chapora Fort and dinner at a beach shack.
  • Day 2 (Saturday): Morning at Morjim, the Saturday night market near Arpora in season, or a kayaking trip on the Chapora river. Evening on the Anjuna cliffs.
  • Day 3 (Sunday): Fontainhas lanes and a Goan breakfast in Panaji, then the airport and an afternoon flight back to Bangalore. Back home before the Monday rush.

Taking Friday off is the one trick that matters here: Thursday-evening or Friday-morning flights are cheaper than Friday evening, and you gain a full beach day.

4 nights / 5 days – Gokarna and Goa by air and road

  • Day 1: Fly Bangalore–Dabolim. Drive south about 2½ hours via Canacona and Karwar's Tagore beach to Gokarna. Evening at Mahabaleshwar temple and the main beach.
  • Day 2: Gokarna beach trail by boat or on foot – Kudle, Om, Half Moon and Paradise beaches – with a lazy lunch at Om beach. Optional detour to Mirjan Fort.
  • Day 3: Drive north to Palolem or Agonda (about 2 hours). Butterfly beach boat trip in calm weather; sunset at Palolem.
  • Day 4: Cabo de Rama, Colva and Margao market, then move to a resort in Benaulim or Varca for the last night.
  • Day 5: Short transfer to Dabolim and fly back to Bangalore.

6 nights / 7 days – family week with train out and flight back

  • Day 1: Afternoon Yesvantpur–Vasco Express from Bangalore; dinner on board.
  • Day 2: Early arrival at Madgaon; we arrange early check-in at a South Goa family resort. Rest, pool, beach in the evening.
  • Day 3: Dudhsagar falls by forest jeep from Collem (October to May), with a spice farm lunch near Ponda.
  • Day 4: Move to Candolim. On the way, Old Goa's Basilica of Bom Jesus and Se Cathedral, and the Reis Magos fort.
  • Day 5: Aguada Fort, Sinquerim, a dolphin trip from Sinquerim jetty and the Mandovi evening cruise.
  • Day 6: Free – water sports at Calangute for older children, or a quiet day at the resort.
  • Day 7: Fly Mopa–Bangalore.

Pairing Goa with Gokarna and the Karnataka coast

Bengaluru travellers ask about this combination more than any other city, and it makes sense: Gokarna is about 140–150 km south of Panaji and the drive along NH66 runs past rivers, mangroves and the Kali bridge at Karwar.

  • Gokarna: a temple town with five beaches a short boat ride apart. Quieter and more spiritual than Goa, and almost entirely vegetarian near the temple. Good resorts are limited, so book them first.
  • Karwar: Rabindranath Tagore beach, Devbagh island and the Kali river mouth. Good for a lunch stop or a night at a Devbagh beach resort.
  • Murudeshwar: the giant Shiva statue and the temple tower on the shore, plus snorkelling trips to Netrani island in season. It sits further south, so it fits a six- or seven-night road trip.
  • Jog Falls: worth the inland detour from July to October when the falls are full; in summer the flow is thin.

Our advice: give Gokarna one or two nights, not more, unless your group wants a pure beach-and-yoga break; Goa offers more for evenings and families. Travel south to north or north to south in one direction, and fly in and out of different Goa airports, so nobody spends the last day driving back.

Bengaluru's IT calendar matters too. Many tech companies give long weekends around Ugadi, Independence Day, Dasara and Diwali, and the whole city seems to head west together. On those dates we either book early or suggest flying out a day before the holiday.

Food and travel tips for visitors from Bangalore

  • South Indian vegetarian food: Udupi-style restaurants are common in Panaji, Margao, Mapusa and Ponda, so dosa, idli and a proper meals plate are easy to find. In Gokarna the temple area has simple veg meals everywhere.
  • Jain and no-onion-garlic requests: most 4- and 5-star resorts handle them with notice; we confirm in writing on your vouchers.
  • Coffee: filter-coffee drinkers may want to carry their own; many shacks serve instant.
  • Weather difference: Goa is hotter and more humid than Bangalore all year. Pack cottons, a cap and sunscreen, and drink more water than you would at home.
  • Swimming: swim only between lifeguard flags; in Gokarna the beaches between Om and Paradise have strong currents and few lifeguards.
  • Two-wheelers: rented scooters are common in North Goa and Gokarna; carry your licence and wear a helmet.
  • Cash and UPI: UPI works widely in Goa, less reliably on Gokarna's remote beaches – keep some cash.

Goa tour from Bangalore: FAQs

How much does a Goa tour package from Bangalore cost?

Our Goa packages currently start at ₹5,999 per person for 2 nights. Most of our Goa packages fall between ₹11,999 and ₹24,999 per person. The final cost depends on the travel month, hotel category, number of travellers and whether flights from {$from} are added. Open any package below to see exactly what is included, or ask us for a quote with flights.

Which Goa airport do flights from Bangalore use?

Both. Some non-stop flights from Kempegowda land at Dabolim near Vasco, which is closer to South Goa, while others go to Mopa in North Goa. The airports are 1½ to 2 hours apart by road, so check the arrival code (GOI or GOX) before you book and choose the hotel area to match.

How long is the flight from Bangalore to Goa?

Non-stop flights take roughly 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes. With the drive to Kempegowda, security and the transfer in Goa, plan on four to five hours door to door. That makes a Friday-to-Sunday trip realistic, especially if you take a late-morning flight and avoid Bangalore's evening airport traffic.

Is there a direct train from Bangalore to Goa?

Yes. The Yesvantpur–Vasco da Gama Express runs daily, leaving Yesvantpur in the afternoon and reaching Madgaon at about 3.30 am, roughly 14 hours via Hubballi and Londa. We arrange an early hotel check-in or a station pick-up with breakfast so the family can rest on arrival.

How far is Goa from Bangalore by road?

About 560 to 580 km via Tumakuru, Chitradurga, Hubballi and Dharwad, then the Anmod ghat to Ponda – around 10 to 11 hours of driving. Going via Karwar on the coast adds about 40 to 60 km but lets you stop at Gokarna. We send a private car with an experienced driver and avoid ghat roads after dark.

Can we combine Gokarna and Goa in one trip from Bangalore?

Yes, and it is one of our most requested combinations from Bengaluru. Fly into Dabolim, drive about 2½ hours to Gokarna for one or two nights, then move north to Palolem and the rest of Goa. One private car covers both states, and we handle Karnataka and Goa hotel bookings together.

Is a weekend trip to Goa from Bangalore worth it?

Yes, if you fly. Two nights in one part of Goa, chosen to suit the arrival airport, gives one full beach day and two evenings. Driving or taking the train for a two-night trip is not worth it, because travel eats both days. Taking the Friday off makes the weekend far better value.

Are overnight buses from Bangalore to Goa a good option?

They are cheap and leave Bangalore in the evening, reaching Goa in 11 to 13 hours, so they suit students and solo travellers. Families and senior citizens usually find the train or a flight more comfortable. If you take a bus, we can start your package with a pick-up at Panaji or Mapusa bus stand.

What is the best time for a Goa trip from Bangalore?

November to February has the best weather. March and late October give lower rates with mostly good weather. From June to September the sea is rough and swimming is restricted, but the train ride through the Western Ghats is lovely and resorts are at their cheapest. Avoid Christmas week unless you book months ahead.

Can we get South Indian vegetarian food in Goa?

Yes. Udupi-style restaurants serving dosa, idli and meals plates are easy to find in Panaji, Margao, Mapusa and Ponda, and most resorts serve South Indian breakfasts. Gokarna's temple area is largely vegetarian. We share a list of veg restaurants near your hotel and confirm Jain needs in writing.

Do you have an office in Bangalore?

No. Our team is in Ahmedabad and plans Goa trips for Bengaluru travellers on WhatsApp and phone. You get a written quote, day-wise plan, vouchers and invoice as PDFs, pay by bank transfer or UPI, and can reach our team at any hour during the trip.

Can you plan a Goa trip for an office team from Bangalore?

Yes. We plan private offsites for teams with resort stays, conference space where needed, coaches or Tempo Travellers, a beach dinner and activities such as kayaking or a river cruise. The team travels on its own dates as a private group. Flights from Bangalore can be booked together so arrivals match the transfers.
