From Bangalore, Singapore is less a big foreign holiday than a long weekend that happens to need a passport. Kempegowda International Airport has four non-stop departures a day as of November 2026 – IndiGo in the morning and evening, Singapore Airlines late morning and late night – and the flight takes a little under five hours. A Bengaluru couple can leave on a Thursday night, have three full days in the city and be back for a Monday stand-up. Families can take the morning flight, land in time for dinner and spend five unhurried nights at Sentosa, the zoo and Universal Studios.

This page is for travellers from Bengaluru and nearby Mysuru, Tumakuru and Hosur. It sets out indicative costs without airfare, compares the four KIA departures and what each does to your first day, explains the e-visa as of November 2026, and gives three itineraries: a three-night long weekend, a five-night family trip and a seven-night Singapore-plus-Bali holiday that flies home on Bali's non-stop to Bengaluru. It also maps the 2027 long weekends and Karnataka school holidays onto Singapore's weather, and covers Udupi-style vegetarian, Kannadiga and Jain food. Planning is done by our team in Ahmedabad on WhatsApp and phone; we have no Bangalore office. Every trip is private, with your own transfers and dates.

Airfare from Bangalore: as of November 2026, IndiGo returns to Singapore usually cost about ₹16,000 – 30,000 per person when booked six weeks ahead; Singapore Airlines, also sold by Air India as a codeshare, is usually about ₹26,000 – 42,000 with meals and bags. The Dasara break, summer holidays, Christmas–New Year and any long weekend push fares up by 40–60%, and long-weekend Thursday-night seats sell out first. For the Bali plan, a three-sector open-jaw ticket – Bengaluru to Singapore, Singapore to Denpasar, Denpasar back to Bengaluru – usually costs about ₹35,000 – 52,000 in economy.

Paid on the ground: most meals (SGD 8–15 per person at hawker centres and Little India), the Universal Studios Express Pass, SkyPark, Skyline Luge, Singapore Flyer, MRT and Grab rides on free days, and shopping. For the Bali leg, the e-VOA and Bali levy are added as separate lines.

Four KIA departures: which one suits your trip

International flights use Terminal 2 at Kempegowda. The pattern below is from schedule data as of November 2026; timings move by a few minutes between seasons, and we check the live timetable before quoting. Singapore is 2½ hours ahead of India.

Departure from BengaluruAirlineLands at ChangiBest for
Around 10.20 amIndiGoAround 5.40 pmFamilies: no lost night's sleep, evening light show on arrival
Around 11.50 amSingapore Airlines (Air India codeshare)Around 7 pmGrandparents and anyone who wants full service on a daytime flight
Around 8 pmIndiGoAround 3.20 amLowest fares, but a very early landing; book the room from the night before
Around 11.10 pmSingapore Airlines (Air India codeshare)Around 6.15 amLong weekends: leave after work, land for breakfast
  • Getting to KIA: the airport is at Devanahalli, far north of the city. Allow about 40 minutes from Hebbal, 60–90 minutes from Whitefield, Koramangala or the Outer Ring Road, and up to two hours from Electronic City or Sarjapur at peak time. The airport metro line is still under construction as of November 2026, so the options are a cab, your own car or BMTC's Vayu Vajra buses. For an 11 pm flight leaving from an ORR office, leave by 7 pm.
  • Coming back: evening departures from Changi land at KIA around midnight or later. If you have a Monday morning meeting, the earlier return is worth paying for.
  • Baggage and meals: Singapore Airlines includes both; IndiGo includes a checked bag on international fares but sells meals. For a three-night trip with cabin bags only, IndiGo is usually the sensible saving.
  • From Mysuru or Hosur: add two to three hours by road; the morning flights then mean a pre-dawn start, so families from Mysuru usually take the 11.50 am departure.

Singapore e-visa from Bangalore (as of November 2026)

Indian passport holders need a Singapore visa before they fly. It cannot be applied for in person: an Authorised Visa Agent files it online and the visa arrives by email.

  • Fee: ₹2,100 per person, effective 1 January 2026, plus a ₹1,300 agent service charge; neither is refunded if the visa is refused.
  • Timing: applications should be made within 30 days before arrival, and usually take three to five working days. For a long weekend, start the file about three weeks before you fly so there is time for any extra document request.
  • Documents: Form 14A, a colour photo taken in the last three months, the passport bio page with at least six months' validity from entry, and in practice recent bank statements and a letter or payslips from your employer. Salaried IT professionals usually have the simplest files.
  • Multiple entry: Singapore e-visas are usually multiple-entry, which matters for the Bali plan if you route back through Changi.
  • SG Arrival Card: each traveller, children included, submits it free on the ICA website or MyICA app within three days before arrival. Your electronic visit pass is emailed after you clear immigration.

We prepare and submit your application through an authorised agent; approval is Singapore's decision, and we never promise a result. For Bali, the e-VOA is also prepared and submitted by us, with approval resting with Indonesian immigration. See our guides to the Singapore visa and the Bali visa for Indians.

Long weekends and Karnataka school holidays for Singapore (2026–27)

Karnataka school breaks

  • Summer vacation: state-board schools usually close from about the second week of April to the end of May. April is the better half: Singapore's own school holidays and crowds at Universal Studios start in late May.
  • Dasara (mid-term) break: roughly the end of September into mid-October. It overlaps the Singapore Formula 1 weekend in some years, when Marina Bay hotels cost much more; we stay in Bugis or Orchard that week.
  • Christmas break: a short break around 25 December for many CBSE and ICSE schools.

Singapore is warm and visitable all year, 25–32°C, with rain usually coming as a short, heavy afternoon shower. February to April is driest; November and December are wettest, though nearly every major sight is indoors or covered. Unlike Bengaluru, there is no cool season – pack for summer whatever the month.

Singapore, Bali or Thailand for a Bengaluru long weekend?

All three are non-stop from KIA, and Bengaluru couples often ask us to choose. A short honest comparison, as of November 2026:

SingaporeBaliThailand (Bangkok, Phuket or Krabi)
Flight from KIAAbout 4½–5 h, four departures a dayAbout 7 h overnight, one flight a dayAbout 3½–4 h
VisaE-visa in advance, about ₹3,400 with agent chargee-VOA, plus the Bali levyVisa-free up to 30 days
Three-night trip?Yes, easilyTight; five nights is betterYes
Ground costHighest – hotels and tickets cost moreLowest for pool villasLow to medium
SuitsFamilies, first trips abroad, seniors, food loversHoneymoons, villa holidaysBeaches, nightlife, shopping

If you want the beach more than the city, see Thailand from Bangalore; if you want a slower villa holiday, Bali. Singapore wins when time is short, children are young or grandparents are coming.

Udupi tiffin, Kannadiga meals and Jain food in Singapore

  • South Indian vegetarian: Little India serves idli, vada, masala dosa and full rice meals from early morning, much like a Udupi darshini at home. The sambar is often Tamil-style and sweeter than Kannadiga cooking; bisi bele bath and ragi dishes are rarely on menus.
  • Coffee: filter coffee is available in Little India. Singapore's own kopi, made with condensed milk at hawker centres, is worth trying once; ask for "kopi kosong" for no sugar.
  • Andhra, Kerala and North Indian: all are within a few streets of Serangoon Road – useful for mixed groups of colleagues.
  • Jain and no onion-garlic: several Little India restaurants cook to order, which Marwari families from Chickpet and Basavanagudi tell us is easier than they expected. We note the request on the voucher wherever meals are included.
  • Hawker centres: many Chinese stalls cook with pork or lard, so vegetarians should look for Indian or vegetarian signage. Lau Pa Sat and Tekka Centre have Indian vegetarian stalls.
  • Theme-park days: vegetarian choice inside Universal Studios and on Sentosa is limited; carry snacks and plan dinner in town.

Practical notes for Bengaluru travellers

  • Money: one Singapore dollar is roughly ₹65–70. UPI is accepted only at some shops, while cards and contactless payments work almost everywhere, including tapping a card at MRT gates.
  • Clothes: Bengaluru-weather jackets stay at home – cottons, sandals, a compact umbrella and one light layer for cold malls.
  • Rules: fines for littering, eating on the MRT and smoking outside marked areas are enforced; e-cigarettes are illegal.
  • Working while away: hotel Wi-Fi is fast and cafés are laptop-friendly, but a visit visa is for tourism; keep work to email and calls.

  • Food requests in writing: vegetarian, Jain and no-onion-garlic notes on vouchers, with hotels near Little India for those who want South Indian breakfasts every day.

Which airlines fly non-stop from Bangalore to Singapore?

Between them there are about four departures a day from KIA Terminal 2: mid-morning, late morning, evening and late night. The flight takes a little under five hours. We confirm the timetable for your dates.

Can we do Singapore in a three-night long weekend from Bengaluru?

Yes. Take the late-night Singapore Airlines flight on Thursday, land around 6 am, and you have three full days for Gardens by the Bay, Sentosa and Marina Bay before a Monday midday flight home. Book the hotel from Thursday night so you can sleep on arrival. Universal Studios needs a fourth day.

How long does it take to reach KIA from the city?

About 40 minutes from Hebbal, 60 to 90 minutes from Whitefield, Koramangala or the Outer Ring Road, and up to two hours from Electronic City or Sarjapur at peak time. The airport metro is not open yet as of November 2026, so use a cab or a Vayu Vajra bus and reach Terminal 2 three hours before departure.

How much does a Bangalore to Singapore return flight cost?

As of November 2026, IndiGo returns usually cost about ₹16,000 to ₹30,000 per person when booked six weeks ahead, and Singapore Airlines about ₹26,000 to ₹42,000 with meals and bags. Long weekends, the Dasara break and Christmas cost 40 to 60 percent more. These are typical ranges; we quote live fares.

How long does a Singapore visa take for Bengaluru applicants?

Usually three to five working days once an authorised agent has submitted the file, and applications should be made within 30 days before arrival. The cost is ₹2,100 plus a ₹1,300 service charge as of November 2026. We prepare and submit the application; approval is Singapore's decision. Start about three weeks before a long weekend.

Can we combine Singapore and Bali from Bangalore?

Yes, and it works well from Bengaluru. Fly to Singapore for three nights, take the 2½-hour flight to Bali for four, and come home on IndiGo's Denpasar–Bengaluru non-stop, so you never backtrack. You need the Singapore e-visa and the Indonesian e-VOA plus Bali levy, both prepared and submitted by us.

Is Singapore better than Thailand for a short trip from Bangalore?

For families, first trips abroad and seniors, usually yes: it is compact, safe, air-conditioned and easy to get around. Thailand is cheaper on the ground, visa-free and better for beaches. Singapore costs more for hotels and tickets, and needs an e-visa in advance, so allow three weeks.

When is the best time to visit Singapore from Bengaluru?

Singapore is warm all year. February to April is driest. For Karnataka families, April in the summer vacation is better than late May, when Singapore's own holidays bring crowds. The Dasara break works well but may overlap the Formula 1 weekend, when Marina Bay hotels cost more.

Is South Indian vegetarian food easy to find in Singapore?

Yes. Little India has idli, dosa, vada and full meals from breakfast, and filter coffee, much like a darshini at home, though sambar is often Tamil-style. Jain and no onion-garlic food is possible on request. Vegetarian choice is limited at Universal Studios and on Sentosa, so carry snacks for those days.

Which flight should families with small children take from KIA?

The 10.20 am IndiGo or the 11.50 am Singapore Airlines departure. Both land in the early evening, so nobody loses a night's sleep, and the Gardens by the Bay light show is an easy first outing. The 8 pm IndiGo flight lands at about 3.20 am, which is hard with toddlers.

Do you have an office in Bangalore?

No. Vibrant Holidays is based on C G Road, Ahmedabad, and has planned holidays for 11 years. Bengaluru clients plan with us on WhatsApp, phone or video call, pay online and receive the e-visa, tickets, vouchers and invoice as PDFs. During the trip, a 24x7 WhatsApp line and our Singapore ground partner handle changes.
