Singapore Tour Packages from Chennai
Four hours from Meenambakkam to Changi, a city where Tamil is an official language, and banana-leaf meals in Little India – a private Singapore trip matched to the right Chennai flight.
Singapore is closer to Chennai than Delhi is. The non-stop flight takes about four hours, more than a dozen departures a week leave Meenambakkam at all hours, and you land in a country where Tamil is one of the four official languages, printed on station signs and spoken in the shops of Serangoon Road. For many Chennai families it is the first foreign holiday with the children, a natural honeymoon, or a visit to relatives who moved there for work. Because the city is compact, four or five nights are enough to see the big sights without rushing.
This page is written for travellers from Chennai and the rest of Tamil Nadu who fly out of MAA. It compares the five airlines on the route and what their timings mean for your first and last day, explains the Singapore e-visa and SG Arrival Card as of November 2026, gives realistic package costs, three day-wise itineraries, the Tamil Nadu holiday windows, Little India's temples and festivals, and food and shopping notes – including what Indian customs allows on the way back. Planning is done by our team in Ahmedabad over WhatsApp and phone; we have no Chennai office. Packages shown here carry live prices.

Airfare from Chennai: because five airlines compete on the route, Chennai has some of the cheapest Singapore fares in India. As of November 2026, low-cost return tickets on Scoot, IndiGo or Air India Express often fall between ₹18,000 and ₹30,000 per person when booked six weeks ahead, and Singapore Airlines usually costs ₹30,000 – 50,000 return with meals and checked baggage. Pongal week, the December half-yearly break and the April–May summer holidays can add 40–70%. Compare low-cost fares only after adding checked baggage and meals.
Not in the package price: lunches and most dinners (SGD 8–15 per person in Little India or a hawker centre), the Universal Studios Express Pass, Skyline Luge, Singapore Flyer, Marina Bay Sands SkyPark, Adventure Cove waterpark, MRT and Grab rides on free days, shopping, and the hotel's card deposit. We list each with an approximate figure.
Chennai–Singapore flights compared: which timing suits you
Singapore is 2½ hours ahead of India. The table shows the typical pattern of non-stop flights from MAA as of November 2026; schedules change, and we check the live timetable on your dates.
| Airline | Typical departures from Chennai | Flying time | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Singapore Airlines (also sold as Air India codeshare) | A late-night flight around 11.30 pm and a morning flight around 10 am | About 4 – 4¾ h | Full-service: meals and checked baggage included. The night flight lands about 6 am; the morning one lands about 5 pm |
| IndiGo | Three a day: around 3 am, mid-afternoon and around 10 pm | About 4¼ h | Most choice. The afternoon flight lands at night, so day one is only check-in |
| Air India Express | Around 2 am and early afternoon | About 4¼ h | Low-cost fares; check what baggage your fare includes |
| Scoot | Around midnight, landing about 6.30 am | About 4¼ h | Often the cheapest; the basic fare has no checked bag or meal |
How we pick the flight for each family
- Families with small children: the morning Singapore Airlines departure is the gentlest option. Nobody loses a night's sleep, you reach the hotel by evening, and the Gardens by the Bay light show at 7.45 pm or 8.45 pm is an easy first outing.
- Couples and young travellers: a midnight flight saves a hotel night and gives you a full first day, but you will be tired. We request early check-in or book the room from the previous night when sleep matters.
- The return: most flights back to Chennai leave Changi in the morning or around 8–10 pm. An evening flight gives you a last day for Jewel Changi and shopping; keep the hotel room until late afternoon or use a day room.
- Getting to MAA: international flights use Terminal 2 (the new integrated terminal); check your ticket. For a 2–3 am departure, a cab from Anna Nagar, Velachery or OMR at midnight takes 30–50 minutes; the Metro does not run at that hour.
By sea: is there a Chennai–Singapore cruise?
Not as a regular service. Cordelia Cruises has run occasional one-way voyages from Chennai to Southeast Asia, such as a 10-night sailing via Phuket, Langkawi and Kuala Lumpur to Singapore in July 2026, and you then fly home. These are seasonal and depend on the ship's deployment, so we check what is on sale when you enquire. Far more common is flying to Singapore and taking a 3- or 4-night round-trip cruise from Marina Bay to Penang, Phuket or Port Klang, which needs a multiple-entry Singapore visa.
Singapore visa and arrival card for Chennai travellers (November 2026)
Indian passport holders need a Singapore visa approved before they fly; there is no visa on arrival. Singapore has a Consulate-General in Chennai, but individuals do not apply to it directly: every tourist application goes through an Authorised Visa Agent appointed by the Singapore mission, and the visa is issued electronically.
- Fee: ₹2,100 per person to the High Commission, plus an agent service charge of up to ₹1,300. Children pay the same. The fee is not refunded if the application is refused.
- Papers: Form 14A signed by the applicant (a parent signs for a child), a passport valid for at least six months from entry, a recent 35 × 45 mm colour photo on a white background, plus a covering letter, bank statements and income or employment proof that agents ask for in practice.
- Visiting relatives: many Tamil families stay with brothers, sisters or children working in Singapore. The mission may ask for Form V39A, a letter of introduction from a Singapore citizen or permanent resident aged 21 or over. Ask your relative to keep a copy of their NRIC ready.
- Time: three to five working days after submission in a normal week. Apply two to three weeks before travel, four to five weeks before for the April–May and December peaks.
- SG Arrival Card: every traveller files it free on the ICA website or MyICA app within three days before arrival. Use an email address you check: your electronic visit pass, showing how many days you may stay, is emailed after immigration.
- Checks before boarding: since 30 January 2026 Singapore can instruct airlines not to board passengers who do not meet entry rules. Problems are therefore caught at the Chennai check-in counter, so carry the printed e-visa and a passport with more than six months' validity.
We prepare your file and submit it through an authorised agent; approval is always at the discretion of Singapore's Immigration and Checkpoints Authority, and we never promise a result. We hold flight options while the visa is processed and issue tickets once the e-visa arrives. The full process, documents and the 96-hour transit rule are on our Singapore visa guide for Indians.

Malaysia is visa-free for Indian tourists until 31 December 2026, with the free MDAC arrival card; the rule after that date has not been confirmed, so for 2027 travel we check before booking. A Singapore e-visa usually allows multiple entries, which matters if your plan returns to Singapore after Malaysia. Every trip is private: your own transfers, your own dates, and extended families travel as a private group with a coach and driver for the sightseeing days.
Tamil Singapore: Little India, temples and festivals
For many Chennai visitors, the part of Singapore that surprises them most is how familiar it feels. Tamil appears on government signs and MRT station names, Tamil newspapers and radio stations are local institutions, and Little India around Serangoon Road, Race Course Road and Buffalo Road feels like a cleaner, quieter T. Nagar.
- Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple on Serangoon Road, with its tall gopuram, and Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple nearby are a short walk from most Little India hotels.
- Sri Mariamman Temple in Chinatown is Singapore's oldest Hindu temple and a national monument.
- Sri Thendayuthapani Temple on Tank Road is the end point of the Thaipusam procession, usually in late January or early February, when devotees walk from Serangoon Road carrying kavadis. Visitors may watch respectfully from the roadside.
- Pongal is celebrated in Little India with street decorations and cooking events around mid-January – useful because it matches the Tamil Nadu Pongal holidays.
- Deepavali brings the Serangoon Road light-up, usually from late September or October, and a festival bazaar. It is the busiest time in Little India hotels.
- Indian Heritage Centre on Campbell Lane tells the story of Tamil and other Indian migration to Singapore; it is air-conditioned and easy for grandparents.
Tamil Nadu holidays and Singapore weather
| Window (2026–27) | Approximate dates | Singapore then | Prices |
|---|---|---|---|
| Half-yearly / Christmas holidays | 24 December 2026 – 3 January 2027 (state-board calendar) | North-east monsoon showers; Christmas lights on Orchard Road, New Year fireworks at Marina Bay | Highest; book now |
| Pongal | Mid-January 2027 | Showers easing; Pongal in Little India; Chinese New Year preparations | High |
| February – March | Exam season; couples travel | Driest weeks of the year | Medium |
| Summer vacation | From about 24 April 2027 to early June | Hot and humid with afternoon storms; Singapore's own school holidays add crowds from late May | High from mid-May |
| Quarterly holidays | Late September – early October | Warm; Formula 1 night race weekend raises Marina Bay hotel prices | Medium |
| Deepavali | October or November, by the lunar calendar | Little India light-up at its best; occasional haze in some years | Medium-high |
CBSE, ICSE and matriculation schools in Chennai often differ from these dates by a few days. Chennai's own north-east monsoon (October to December) can also disrupt flights out of MAA during cyclone alerts, so keep travel insurance for trips in those months.
South Indian food, shopping and practical tips
Eating like you are at home
- Banana-leaf meals and tiffin: Little India has long-running vegetarian restaurants such as Komala Vilas and Ananda Bhavan, and branches of Chennai chains like Saravana Bhavan. Idli, dosa, pongal, full meals and filter coffee are easy to find from breakfast onwards.
- Non-vegetarian: Chettinad and Indian-Muslim restaurants on Race Course Road serve fish-head curry, mutton and biryani; Tekka Centre's hawker stalls are cheap and busy.
- Hawker centres: look for Indian or "vegetarian" signs. Many Chinese stalls use pork or lard, so vegetarian travellers should ask before ordering.
- Sentosa and Universal Studios: Indian vegetarian choices are limited. Carry snacks for the park day and plan dinner back in Little India.
- Jain or no onion-garlic: possible at several Little India restaurants with a request; we note it on the voucher where meals are included.
Shopping and customs on the way back to Chennai
- Mustafa Centre in Little India, open round the clock, is where most Chennai families buy chocolates, perfumes, electronics and luggage. Mid-range gold jewellery shops are also on Serangoon Road.
- Tourist GST refund: claim it at Changi for purchases above SGD 100 at participating shops; keep the receipts and the goods in your hand luggage.
- Gold: Indian customs is strict on gold at Chennai airport. The concessional jewellery allowances apply to Indians who have lived abroad for over a year, not to someone returning from a holiday, so gold bought on a short trip is generally dutiable beyond the general free allowance. Declare it in the red channel rather than risk seizure, and check the current rules before you buy.
- Other limits: e-cigarettes are illegal in Singapore, chewing gum is not sold, and medicines should travel in original packaging with a prescription.
Practical notes
- Money: one Singapore dollar is roughly ₹65–70 as of November 2026. Cards and contactless payments work almost everywhere, including the MRT gates; carry some cash for small shops.
- Getting around: the MRT is quick and cool, and Little India, Farrer Park and Bugis stations sit on the same lines as most sights. Grab taxis fill the gaps.
- Weather: 25–32°C all year, usually with a short heavy shower in the afternoon. Carry a compact umbrella and a light layer for strongly air-conditioned malls.
- Phones: an eSIM or a tourist SIM from Changi costs SGD 12–30; Indian roaming packs are also an option.
- Rules: fines for littering, eating on the MRT and smoking outside marked areas are enforced.

- Visa handled with the package: we prepare and submit your application through an authorised agent and send the SG Arrival Card reminder; approval is Singapore's decision.
- Food and stay to your taste: Little India hotels for those who want South Indian meals daily, Marina Bay for honeymooners, and meal requests written on vouchers.
- Support during the trip: a 24×7 WhatsApp line and a Singapore ground partner for transfers and ticket changes. IATA-accredited; member of TAAI, TAFI, ADTOI and IATO; recognised by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.

How much does a Singapore tour package from Chennai cost?
Our Singapore packages currently start at ₹28,000 per person for 3 nights. Most of our Singapore packages fall between ₹45,500 and ₹79,000 per person. The final cost depends on the travel month, hotel category, number of travellers and whether flights from Chennai are added. Open any package below to see exactly what is included, or ask us for a quote with flights.
How long is the flight from Chennai to Singapore?
About four to four and three-quarter hours non-stop. Singapore is 2½ hours ahead of India, so a flight leaving Chennai around midnight lands at about 6 am local time, and a morning departure lands in the late afternoon. Exact times depend on the airline and season.
Which airlines fly non-stop from Chennai to Singapore?
As of November 2026, Singapore Airlines, IndiGo, Air India Express and Scoot operate non-stop flights, and Air India sells seats on the Singapore Airlines flights as a codeshare. Between them there are several departures a day, at night, early morning and in the afternoon. We compare baggage and timings, not only fares.
What is the cheapest way to fly from Chennai to Singapore?
Low-cost carriers such as Scoot, IndiGo and Air India Express usually have the lowest fares, often ₹18,000 to ₹30,000 return when booked six weeks ahead. Their basic fares may exclude checked baggage and meals, so add those before comparing with Singapore Airlines, which includes both.
Can I apply for a Singapore visa at the consulate in Chennai myself?
No. Although Singapore has a Consulate-General in Chennai, tourist visas for Indians are submitted only through authorised visa agents, and the visa is issued electronically. The fee is ₹2,100 plus an agent charge of up to ₹1,300. We prepare and submit the file; approval is Singapore's decision.
How many days are enough for Singapore from Chennai?
Four nights covers Gardens by the Bay, the city, Sentosa, the Night Safari and a full day at Universal Studios. Three nights suits couples on a long weekend using the midnight flight. Add two nights for Kuala Lumpur, or three for Bali, if you want a combined trip.
Is South Indian vegetarian food easy to find in Singapore?
Very easy in Little India, where long-running restaurants and Chennai chains serve idli, dosa, banana-leaf meals and filter coffee. Hawker centres have Indian vegetarian stalls. Food is harder on Sentosa and at Universal Studios, so we suggest a Little India hotel for families who want home-style meals daily.
Is there a ship or cruise from Chennai to Singapore?
There is no regular passenger service. Cordelia Cruises has run occasional one-way voyages from Chennai to Singapore via Thailand and Malaysia, such as a 10-night sailing in July 2026, after which you fly home. Most travellers instead fly to Singapore and take a short round-trip cruise from there.
When is the best time to visit Singapore from Chennai?
Singapore is warm and visitable all year. February to April is driest. For Tamil Nadu families, Pongal and the December half-yearly break are popular, and Deepavali brings Little India's light-up. Book eight to ten weeks ahead for December and the April–May summer holidays.
Can we stay with relatives in Singapore on a tourist visa?
Yes. The visa application is the same, but the mission may ask for Form V39A, a letter of introduction from your relative, who must be a Singapore citizen or permanent resident aged 21 or over. Keep their NRIC copy and address ready. We can still book attractions and transfers for you.
How much gold can I bring back from Singapore to Chennai?
The concessional gold allowances in Indian customs rules apply to Indians who have lived abroad for more than a year, not to holiday travellers. Gold bought on a short trip is generally dutiable beyond the general free allowance. Declare it at the red channel and check current rules before buying.
Do we need the SG Arrival Card if we are on a package?
Yes. Every traveller, including children, must submit the free SG Arrival Card on the ICA website or MyICA app within three days before arriving. Ignore sites that charge a fee. Use a working email address, because your electronic visit pass is sent there after immigration.
Can we add Malaysia to a Singapore trip from Chennai?
Yes. Kuala Lumpur is five to six hours by road or one hour by air, and there are non-stop flights from Kuala Lumpur back to Chennai. Malaysia is visa-free for Indian tourists until 31 December 2026 with the MDAC arrival card; for 2027 trips we confirm the rule before booking.
