Singapore Visa for Indians: Fees, Documents and Process (October 2026)

There is no visa on arrival and no direct online form for Indians. You apply through an authorised agent, and the e-visa comes back as a PDF in about a week. Here is every step, cost and pitfall.

Packages from₹28,000 per person
Visa needed?Yes, before travel (unless you qualify for the 96-hour transit rule)
Cost₹2,100 High Commission fee + up to ₹1,300 agent fee
Processing3–5 working days after submission
Before landingFree SG Arrival Card, within 3 days of arrival

The quick answer: yes, Indian passport holders need a visa to visit Singapore, and it must be approved before you fly. Indians cannot apply on their own on the ICA website and there is no visa on arrival at Changi. Every tourist application from India goes through an Authorised Visa Agent (AVA) appointed by the Singapore High Commission in New Delhi or the Consulates in Mumbai and Chennai. The agent uploads your Form 14A, photo and supporting papers, and the approved e-visa arrives as a one-page PDF that you print and carry. The High Commission's processing fee is ₹2,100 per person and the agent may add a service charge of up to ₹1,300.

The one exception is the Visa Free Transit Facility: Indians passing through Singapore to or from a third country can stay up to 96 hours without a Singapore visa, but only if they hold a valid visa for one of eight specific countries. Everything below is drawn from the High Commission's visa page (updated 11 August 2026), ICA's own pages on the SG Arrival Card and transit facility, and the latest list of agents dated 2 July 2026. Information is as of October 2026; rules change — we check before you book, and again a week before departure.

What a Singapore visa costs in rupees

ItemAmountNotes
High Commission processing fee₹2,100 per applicationPaid when the agent submits; not refunded if refused or withdrawn
Authorised agent service feeUp to ₹1,300The ceiling stated by the High Commission; some agents charge less
Photographs (35 × 45 mm, white background)₹100–300Two copies, taken within the last three months
Translation of Hindi documents, if any₹300–800 per pageAll papers must be in English
Typical total per personAbout ₹3,400–3,800Children pay the same fee as adults

Watch for websites quoting ₹6,000–8,000 for an "express Singapore visa". The government fee is the same for everyone; what changes is the reseller's margin. Express processing is not an official product, so paying more does not move your file ahead in the High Commission's queue. For a family of four the honest budget for visas is roughly ₹14,000–15,000.

For context, one Singapore dollar is roughly ₹65–70 at current rates, so the visa is a small line in a trip budget. Keep that in mind when deciding whether to apply early: losing a non-refundable flight because you applied late costs far more than the visa itself.

Step-by-step: how Indians apply for a Singapore e-visa

  1. Pick an authorised agent. The High Commission publishes the list as Annex A on its visa page; the current version is dated 2 July 2026. Large travel companies and specialist visa firms are on it. A reseller who is not on the list simply passes your papers to one who is, often for an extra fee.
  2. Fill Form 14A. This is ICA's application form for an entry visa. Names must match the passport exactly, including the order of given name and surname. Sign it yourself; for a minor, a parent signs.
  3. Collect the supporting papers listed in the next section. The agent will tell you if anything else is needed for your profile.
  4. Hand over the file and pay. Most agents accept scans by email or WhatsApp; your original passport is not sent anywhere, because Singapore issues electronic visas.
  5. Submission and processing. The agent uploads everything to the High Commission's system. Processing is generally three to five working days, not counting the day of submission, weekends and public holidays. Some files take longer, especially in May–June and around Diwali.
  6. Receive the e-visa PDF. The agent forwards it, or you download it from ICA's status-check page using the application reference number. Check the name, passport number and date of birth immediately.
  7. Print it. Airlines in India ask to see the printed visa at check-in, and some counters will not accept a phone screen.
  8. Fill the SG Arrival Card online within three days of landing, as explained further down.

You do not have to buy flights before applying. The High Commission states this plainly, and warns that if you book tickets and the visa is refused, the loss is yours. We usually hold flight options without paying, apply for the visa, and issue tickets once the PDF arrives.

Document checklist by traveller type

The High Commission's own minimum is short: signed Form 14A, a passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry, and two recent colour photographs. In practice agents ask for financial and travel papers too, because a thin file is the main reason for delays. This is what we collect from clients:

TravellerPapers to add to the basic set
Salaried employeeCovering letter, last three months' salary slips, bank statement for three to six months, latest ITR acknowledgement, employer leave letter if available
Business owner or professionalCovering letter on letterhead, GST or shop-establishment registration, two years' ITR, personal and business bank statements
Retired parentPension papers or bank statement showing income, and a sponsor letter from the child paying for the trip if applicable
HomemakerSpouse's financial papers plus a marriage certificate or a passport that lists the spouse's name
Student or childSchool or college ID, birth certificate for minors, parents' bank statement and a consent letter if a parent is not travelling
Visiting relatives in SingaporeForm V39A (Letter of Introduction) from a Singapore citizen or PR aged 21 or over, with a copy of their NRIC

About Form V39A: the High Commission may ask for a local contact case by case. For a business trip, the contact must sign on behalf of a Singapore-registered company. Ordinary tourists on a holiday package are rarely asked, but if the request comes, the High Commission can accept its own letter of introduction instead.

Photo rules people get wrong: 35 mm wide by 45 mm high, colour, plain white background, no border, face fully visible with eyebrows uncovered, no glare on spectacles, and avoid white clothing against the white background. Religious headwear is accepted if the face is fully shown.

SG Arrival Card, the e-pass and the 2026 no-boarding checks

Every foreign visitor who clears immigration at Changi must submit the SG Arrival Card (SGAC). It combines personal details, trip details and a health declaration.

  • Window: within three days before arrival, counting the day you land. For a Sunday arrival you can submit from Friday.
  • Where: the ICA website or the free MyICA app on Android and iPhone. The app can store your profile, which helps on a return visit.
  • Cost: nothing. ICA states that submission is free and that it does not endorse paid services; sites charging a fee are not connected to ICA.
  • Your email address matters: since March 2022 visitors do not get a passport stamp. The electronic visit pass, showing how many days you may stay, is emailed to the address you entered on the card.
  • Who skips it: passengers who stay airside and do not seek immigration clearance.

No-Boarding Directive: from 30 January 2026, ICA screens passenger lists before departure and can tell airlines not to board travellers who do not meet entry requirements, for example someone without a valid visa or with a passport valid for less than six months. Airlines may also check that your arrival card has been filed. In practice this means problems are caught at the Indian airport rather than at Changi, so the printed e-visa, a healthy passport and a submitted SGAC are all worth checking the night before.

The 96-hour visa-free transit rule, explained with examples

ICA allows Indian nationals in transit through Singapore to or from a third country to stay up to 96 hours without a Singapore visa. The conditions are specific:

  • You hold a confirmed onward air, ferry or cruise ticket leaving Singapore within 96 hours.
  • You hold a visa or long-term pass for Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, the United Kingdom or the USA, valid for at least one more month from your Singapore entry date.
  • A Schengen visa counts only if it allows entry to Germany or Switzerland.
  • You may arrive by any mode but must leave by air or sea. No extension is possible.
TripDoes VFTF work?
Ahmedabad – Singapore (3 nights) – Sydney, holding an Australian visitor visaYes, within 96 hours
Returning from Tokyo with a Japan visa, stopping two nights before flying homeYes
Mumbai – Singapore – Mumbai with a valid US visaNo: there is no third country, so you need a Singapore visa
Singapore stopover on the way to Bali, holding a UK visaYes, if the UK visa has a month left
Five nights in Singapore before a cruiseNo: more than 96 hours

Even when you qualify, the final decision rests with the ICA officer. If the stopover matters to your plans, a regular visa at about ₹3,400 removes the uncertainty.

Reasons Singapore applications from India are refused or delayed

  • Mismatched details: a different spelling of the father's name, swapped given name and surname, or a date of birth that differs from the passport.
  • Weak finances without explanation: a large deposit a week before applying, or a balance that barely covers the trip. A short covering letter explaining who is paying helps.
  • Old or unusable photographs: a scanned print of an older photo, a coloured background or a cropped forehead.
  • Previous immigration problems in Singapore or elsewhere that were not declared on Form 14A. Always answer the background questions truthfully.
  • Purpose that does not fit a visit visa: job interviews arranged by unregistered agents, or anything that looks like work. The High Commission warns about fake work passes issued in India.
  • Hindi documents with no English translation.
  • Passport with less than six months left on the date you plan to enter.

A refusal is not explained in detail, and the ₹2,100 fee is not returned. A new application can be made, but sort out the weak point first, or the second attempt will fail the same way.

When to apply: timing by season

Travel windowApplyWhy
Summer vacation (mid-April to early June)4–5 weeks beforeIndian school holidays bring the heaviest volume of the year
Diwali and the week after4 weeks beforeGujarat, Maharashtra and the south travel together
Christmas to New Year3–4 weeks beforeIndian demand plus Singapore's own holiday season
Formula 1 weekend (late September or early October)3 weeks beforeHotel prices jump; visas are routine
Ordinary months2–3 weeks beforeThree to five working days is normal, but leave room for a document query

The e-visa is usually issued for multiple entries over a validity period chosen by the High Commission, sometimes a few weeks, sometimes much longer. You cannot pick the length, so do not assume an earlier visa still covers a new trip; check the dates printed on it.

Who this visa suits, and how it fits wider trips

Families travelling with children, first-time international travellers and senior couples find Singapore one of the least stressful visas to arrange: no interview, no biometrics, no passport courier. The only real effort is the paperwork. It suits:

  • Four to six night city holidays built around Sentosa, Gardens by the Bay and the zoo parks.
  • Singapore plus Malaysia by road or a short flight; Malaysia has its own rules, set out on our visa-free countries for Indians guide. If you return to Singapore after Malaysia, make sure your visa allows more than one entry.
  • Singapore plus Bali as a city-and-beach honeymoon; see the Bali visa guide for the Indonesian side.
  • Cruises from Marina Bay that call at Penang or Phuket and return to Singapore, which also need multiple entries.

Singapore Visa: FAQs

Do Indians need a visa for Singapore?

Yes. As of October 2026, Indian passport holders need a Singapore visa approved before departure. There is no visa on arrival. The only exception is the 96-hour Visa Free Transit Facility for travellers going to or from a third country who hold a valid visa from the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Germany or Switzerland.

How much is the Singapore visa fee for Indians?

The Singapore High Commission charges a processing fee of ₹2,100 per application, and authorised visa agents may add a service fee of up to ₹1,300. Most travellers pay about ₹3,400 in total, plus a little for photographs. The fee is the same for children and is not refunded if the visa is refused.

How long does a Singapore visa take from India?

The High Commission states three to five working days, counted from the day after submission and excluding weekends and public holidays. Some applications take longer, particularly during the summer vacation and Diwali. We advise applying two to three weeks before travel in normal months and four to five weeks before in peak season.

Can I apply for a Singapore visa online myself?

Not directly. Indian nationals must apply through an Authorised Visa Agent appointed by the Singapore High Commission. The agent submits your Form 14A and documents online, and the visa is issued electronically. You can check the status and download the e-visa yourself on the ICA website once you have the application reference number.

What documents are needed for a Singapore tourist visa?

The basic set is a signed Form 14A, a passport valid for six months from entry and two recent 35 × 45 mm photos with a white background. Agents also ask for a covering letter, bank statements, ITR and proof of employment or business. Visitors staying with relatives may be asked for Form V39A from a local sponsor.

Is the SG Arrival Card mandatory, and does it cost anything?

Yes, every visitor who clears immigration must submit it within three days before arrival, including the arrival day. It is free on the ICA website and the MyICA app. Any site charging a fee is not official. Enter a working email address, because your electronic visit pass is sent there after you pass immigration.

How many days can Indians stay in Singapore on a tourist visa?

The stay is decided by the ICA officer at the checkpoint, not printed on the visa. Holiday visitors usually receive up to 30 days. The exact number appears on the electronic visit pass emailed after arrival. If your plans run longer, tell us before applying so the covering letter and tickets match.

Can I visit Singapore without a visa if I have a US or UK visa?

Only in transit. With a valid US, UK, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, Japanese, German or Swiss visa that has at least a month left, and an onward ticket to another country within 96 hours, you can use the Visa Free Transit Facility. A return trip from India to Singapore and back still needs a regular visa.

Do I need a Singapore visa for a transit at Changi?

Not if you stay in the airside transit area and do not pass through immigration, which is usual for a connection on one ticket. If you need to collect bags, change terminals landside or leave the airport, you need either a Singapore visa or to qualify for the 96-hour transit facility.

Is the Singapore visa single or multiple entry?

E-visas issued to Indians generally allow multiple entries within the validity period printed on the visa, which the High Commission decides. Some are valid for a few weeks, others for much longer. Check the dates before planning a Malaysia side trip or a cruise that returns to Singapore, and before reusing an old visa.

Should I book flights before applying for a Singapore visa?

It is not required. The High Commission says you need not buy a ticket before applying, and that any loss from a refused visa or mismatched dates is yours. Hold fare options, apply, and buy tickets once the e-visa arrives. We follow this order for every client unless fares are about to jump.

Why do Singapore visas get rejected for Indian applicants?

Common causes are names or birth dates that do not match the passport, bank statements with unexplained deposits, old or incorrect photos, undeclared earlier immigration problems and a purpose that looks like work. The High Commission does not give detailed reasons, so fix the weak point before reapplying. The fee from the first attempt is lost.
