International Trips Under ₹1 Lakh per Person in 2026
Once the budget crosses ₹50,000 the question changes from "which cheap country?" to "how much better a trip?" – here is what ₹50,000 to ₹1,00,000 per person buys, destination by destination, with return flights counted.
A budget of up to ₹1 lakh per person is the most common figure our planners hear for a first or second foreign holiday – it is what a couple means when they say "₹2 lakh for both of us", and what many families set aside for a week abroad in the May vacation or Diwali. It is also a budget where the honest advice changes. Under ₹50,000 you are choosing the country that fits; between ₹50,000 and ₹1,00,000 almost every short-haul Asian country fits, so the real decisions are how many nights, which hotel class, whether to add a second region, and whether one long-haul island or Turkey is within reach.
This guide uses one definition throughout: per person on twin sharing, including return economy flights from a major Indian city, hotels with breakfast, airport and inter-city transfers, the main sightseeing, and visa or entry fees. Lunches, dinners, shopping and optional activities sit outside it. If your budget is closer to half this figure, our page on international trips under ₹50,000 covers that band line by line; this page starts where that one stops.

Destinations that fit ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh: the full table
The ranges below are the per-person totals our team quotes for 2026 travel, rounded, with flights from the nearest sensible Indian gateway. The low end is a good 3-star hotel outside peak weeks; the high end is a 4-star or resort stay, or peak dates. Visa notes are for ordinary Indian passports as of October 2026; rules change – we check again before you book.
| Destination | Nights | All-in per person (incl. flights) | Visa / entry for Indians | Best months |

| Vietnam (Hanoi + Ha Long + Da Nang/Hoi An or Ho Chi Minh City) | 7 | ₹70,000 – 95,000 | E-visa, USD 25 single entry | February – April, August – November (centre) |
| Thailand (Bangkok + Phuket or Krabi) | 6 | ₹60,000 – 90,000 | Visa-free 30 days since 15 Sep 2026; free TDAC | November – April |

| Dubai (city, desert, Abu Dhabi day) | 5 | ₹70,000 – 1,00,000 | UAE tourist e-visa via agent, about ₹6,500 – 8,500 | November – March |
| Azerbaijan (Baku + Gabala or Shahdag) | 5 | ₹70,000 – 1,00,000 | E-visa, USD 25 standard (about 3 working days) | April – June, September – October |
| Nepal in comfort (Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, 4–5 star) | 6 | ₹55,000 – 85,000 | No visa; passport or Voter ID | October – November, March – April |
| Bhutan with Paro flights (Thimphu, Punakha, Paro) | 6 | ₹75,000 – 1,10,000 | No visa; entry permit plus SDF ₹1,200 per adult per night | March – May, October – December |
| Mauritius (one resort, two tour days) | 5 | ₹90,000 – 1,25,000 | Visa-free on arrival; free All-in-One Travel Form | May – June, September – November |
| Turkey (Istanbul + Cappadocia) | 6 | ₹95,000 – 1,35,000 | Sticker visa via VFS; e-visa only with a valid US, UK, Schengen or Irish visa | April – June, September – October |
| Maldives (3 nights, beach villa, from Mumbai or Bengaluru) | 3 – 4 | ₹85,000 – 1,40,000 | Free 30-day entry on arrival; IMUGA form | November – April |
Read the table from the top: the first five rows land under ₹1 lakh in most months from most metros. Dubai, Azerbaijan, Nepal and Bhutan fit if you avoid the peak fortnight. The last three are honest stretches – they fit only in shoulder season, from the right airport, or with fewer nights.
What the second ₹50,000 actually buys
Doubling the budget does not double the holiday; it changes four specific things. Knowing which one you want most makes the choice of country easier.
- Full-service flights with baggage. On a tight budget the airfare is a low-cost ticket with 7 kg cabin bag and no meals. At ₹1 lakh you can usually afford a full-service carrier with 25–30 kg checked in, a sensible departure hour, and – for Bali, Vietnam or Mauritius – a single connection instead of two.
- A second region. Bangkok plus Phuket, Hanoi plus Hoi An, Kuala Lumpur plus Singapore, Kandy plus the south coast: an internal flight and one extra hotel change cost roughly ₹8,000 to ₹15,000 per person, and this is the upgrade most couples choose.
- Better hotels. Moving from a city 3-star to a 4-star with a pool, or to a private-pool villa in Ubud, adds ₹2,500 to ₹6,000 per person per night in South-East Asia. In Dubai or Singapore the same jump is closer to ₹4,000 to ₹9,000.
- Longer reach. Mauritius, Turkey and a short Maldives resort stay only enter the conversation at this level. They cost more because the flight alone is ₹35,000 to ₹60,000 return, not because the ground arrangements are expensive.
Our suggestion for most travellers is to spend the extra on one of the first three and keep the destination short-haul. A seven-night Vietnam or Bali trip in 4-star hotels at ₹85,000 usually feels richer than a five-night Mauritius trip squeezed into the same money.
Airfare by departure city: where your airport helps or hurts
Return economy fares are the single biggest swing in this band. The bands below are typical for bookings made six to eight weeks ahead outside Diwali, Christmas and May, per person.
| Destination | Delhi | Mumbai | Ahmedabad | Bengaluru / Chennai | Kolkata |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bali | ₹30,000 – 45,000 | ₹30,000 – 45,000 | ₹35,000 – 50,000 | ₹26,000 – 40,000 | ₹30,000 – 45,000 |
| Vietnam | ₹22,000 – 35,000 | ₹24,000 – 38,000 | ₹28,000 – 42,000 | ₹24,000 – 36,000 | ₹22,000 – 34,000 |
| Sri Lanka | ₹22,000 – 34,000 | ₹18,000 – 28,000 | ₹16,000 – 30,000 | ₹12,000 – 22,000 | ₹22,000 – 34,000 |
| Dubai | ₹20,000 – 32,000 | ₹18,000 – 30,000 | ₹18,000 – 30,000 | ₹22,000 – 34,000 | ₹26,000 – 38,000 |
| Azerbaijan (Baku) | ₹28,000 – 42,000 | ₹32,000 – 48,000 | ₹36,000 – 52,000 | ₹38,000 – 55,000 | ₹38,000 – 55,000 |
| Mauritius | ₹45,000 – 65,000 | ₹38,000 – 58,000 | ₹45,000 – 68,000 | ₹42,000 – 62,000 | ₹50,000 – 70,000 |
| Turkey (Istanbul) | ₹35,000 – 55,000 | ₹35,000 – 55,000 | ₹38,000 – 58,000 | ₹38,000 – 58,000 | ₹40,000 – 60,000 |
Two patterns stand out. South Indian cities reach Sri Lanka and Bali for the least money, so a Chennai or Bengaluru traveller can afford a premium hotel on a budget a Delhi traveller spends on the ticket. Delhi is the natural gateway for Baku and Kathmandu, and Ahmedabad and Mumbai are strongest for Dubai. From Ahmedabad there is now a non-stop to Colombo several times a week as well; see our Sri Lanka from Ahmedabad page for the details.
Three sample budgets, line by line
Per person, twin sharing, rounded. These are the trips we quote most often at this level, built as private itineraries on the traveller's own dates.
| Line item | Bali 6N from Mumbai (May) | Vietnam 7N from Delhi (March) | Mauritius 5N from Mumbai (June) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Return airfare (full-service, bags included) | ₹34,000 – 42,000 | ₹26,000 – 34,000 | ₹40,000 – 52,000 |
| Hotels | ₹22,000 – 30,000 (3N Ubud pool villa, 3N Seminyak 4-star) | ₹20,000 – 28,000 (4-star; one night on a Ha Long cruise) | ₹32,000 – 45,000 (4-star beach resort, half board) |
| Internal flight | – | ₹5,000 – 7,000 (Hanoi – Da Nang) | – |
| Transfers and sightseeing | ₹8,000 – 11,000 (private car, Kintamani, Uluwatu, Nusa Penida) | ₹9,000 – 12,000 (Hoi An, Ba Na Hills, city tours) | ₹7,000 – 10,000 (north and south tours, Ile aux Cerfs) |
| Visa and levies | ₹3,400 – 3,800 (VOA + Bali levy) | ₹2,200 – 2,600 (e-visa) | Nil |
| Travel insurance | ₹700 – 1,200 | ₹800 – 1,200 | ₹900 – 1,400 |
| Total | ₹68,000 – 88,000 | ₹63,000 – 85,000 | ₹80,000 – 1,08,000 |
Notice how Mauritius uses up the budget on just five nights with half board, while Vietnam gives seven nights, two regions and a cruise for less. Neither is wrong; it depends whether a beach resort or variety matters more to you.
Destination verdicts: who each one suits
- Bali – best for honeymooners who want villas. At this budget a private-pool villa in Ubud becomes realistic, which is the upgrade that matters in Bali. Flights need one connection from most cities; Nusa Penida and a Mount Batur sunrise are the add-ons worth paying for. Our Bali from Ahmedabad page has the Gujarat-specific routing.
- Vietnam – best value for seven nights. North and centre (Hanoi, Ha Long, Hoi An) or north and south in one trip, with an overnight cruise. Vegetarian food needs planning outside the big cities. See Vietnam from Ahmedabad.
- Thailand – best for a beach plus a city. At ₹50,000 you get Bangkok and Pattaya; at ₹80,000 you get Bangkok and Phuket or Krabi with island boat days and a 4-star resort. The 30-day exemption makes it simple.
- Malaysia + Singapore – best for families with children. Theme parks, aquariums, Genting's cable car and Sentosa in one week. Singapore is the expensive half; keeping it to three nights holds the total near ₹1 lakh.
- Sri Lanka – best for parents and the Ramayana trail. Six or seven nights with 4-star hotels, the Ella train and a Bentota beach resort comfortably fit; flights are the shortest on this list. Read Sri Lanka tour packages from Ahmedabad.
- Dubai – best for short-break shoppers in winter. November to March is pleasant but hotels double compared with summer. Five nights including an Abu Dhabi day fits if you avoid New Year week.
- Azerbaijan – best for something different. Baku's old city, the Gabala cable cars and snow at Shahdag in winter. Flights from Delhi are short; vegetarian food is limited, so we pre-arrange Indian restaurants.
- Nepal and Bhutan in comfort – best for seniors. Spend the extra on 4–5 star hotels, a Pokhara–Kathmandu flight instead of the long drive, or the Druk Air flight into Paro instead of the road route. Bhutan's daily SDF makes long stays costly, so six nights is the sweet spot.
- Mauritius – a stretch that works in shoulder season. May–June and September–November give good weather and lower resort rates. From Mumbai a five-night half-board trip can land just under ₹1 lakh; from other cities it usually goes over. Details on Mauritius from Ahmedabad.
- Turkey – usually just over. Istanbul plus Cappadocia with a domestic flight and the balloon ride is a ₹1 to ₹1.35 lakh trip for most. Without the balloon and with a 3-star in Istanbul, a few April or October departures sneak under. Apply for the sticker visa at least four weeks ahead.
Entry costs and paperwork at this budget
Visa fees are a small line in a ₹1 lakh trip, but the timelines matter more as you go further. Position for ordinary Indian passports, as of October 2026; rules change – we check before you book:
- Nothing to pay: Thailand (30 days, plus the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card), Malaysia (exemption currently to 31 December 2026, plus the free MDAC), Sri Lanka (free tourist ETA since 25 May 2026, 30 days with double entry, applied for on the official portal), Mauritius (entry stamp on arrival, usually for up to 60 days for tourism, plus the free All-in-One Travel Form), Maldives (free 30-day entry, IMUGA declaration), Nepal.
- Fixed online fee: Vietnam e-visa USD 25; Azerbaijan e-visa USD 25 standard (urgent processing costs more); Bali VOA IDR 500,000 plus the IDR 150,000 tourist levy.
- Agent-filed: UAE tourist e-visa and the Singapore visa, both filed through authorised agents; allow one to three weeks.
- Embassy process: Turkey for most Indians means a sticker visa through the VFS centre with bank statements and bookings. The online e-visa (about USD 43) is available only to Indians holding a valid US, UK, Schengen or Irish visa or residence permit.
- Daily fee: Bhutan's Sustainable Development Fee of ₹1,200 per adult per night, collected with the entry permit.
Wherever a visa or e-visa is needed, we prepare and submit the application; approval is at the authority's discretion. For the countries that need nothing in advance, see our list of visa-free countries for Indians, and for the details of two popular ones, Thailand visa for Indians and Dubai visa for Indians.
Month by month: where ₹1 lakh goes furthest
| Month | Best value at this budget | Avoid or expect to pay more |
|---|---|---|
| January – February | Sri Lanka west coast, Thailand islands, Vietnam south | Bali (wet season), Dubai in the first week of January |
| March – April | Vietnam north and centre, Nepal, Bhutan, Turkey late April | Thailand in the Songkran week if you dislike crowds |
| May – June | Bali, Mauritius, Sri Lanka east coast, Azerbaijan | All flights in the Indian school holidays – book by February |
| July – August | Bali (peak but dry), Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai summer offers | Turkey and Baku are hot and busy with European visitors |
| September – October | Turkey, Azerbaijan, Mauritius, Vietnam centre in September | Diwali week, when fares rise 30% or more |
| November – December | Dubai, Thailand, Mauritius before mid-December | The 20 December – 2 January fortnight everywhere |
If your dates are fixed to an Indian holiday, the cheapest move is to pick the destination whose own season is quiet: Mauritius and Sri Lanka's east coast in May, Turkey in October, Dubai in late November.
How we plan a ₹1 lakh trip with you
- Two options, side by side: for one budget we usually quote a "more nights" version and a "better hotels" version, so you can see the trade-off in rupees rather than guess.
- Every line shown: airfare with baggage, hotels by name, transfers, tours, visa fees and insurance listed separately, with what is not included.
- Private trips only: every itinerary is customised – your own dates, your own car where it matters; families and friends travel together as a private group.
- Veg and Jain meals requested at each hotel and confirmed in writing, with an honest note where options are thin, such as Azerbaijan or rural Vietnam.
- Since 2015 in Ahmedabad: planned by our team on C G Road and booked on WhatsApp or phone from anywhere in India, with 24×7 support on tour; IATA-accredited; member of TAAI, TAFI, ADTOI and IATO; recognised by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.

Which is the best international trip under ₹1 lakh per person?
For most travellers, Bali for six nights with a villa, Vietnam for seven nights across two regions, or Sri Lanka for a week in 4-star hotels give the most holiday for the money. Thailand with two regions and Malaysia plus Singapore also fit. Mauritius and Turkey are possible only in shoulder season and from well-connected airports.
Is ₹1 lakh enough for Mauritius?
Sometimes. A five-night trip in a 4-star resort on half board with two tour days comes to about ₹90,000 to ₹1,25,000 per person including flights. From Mumbai in May, June or September it can land under ₹1 lakh; from Delhi, Ahmedabad or Kolkata, or in December, it usually goes over.
Can I do Turkey under ₹1 lakh from India?
Only with care. Istanbul and Cappadocia over six nights usually cost ₹95,000 to ₹1,35,000 per person with flights, the domestic flight and the visa. Choosing April or October, a 3-star in Istanbul and skipping the balloon ride can bring it under ₹1 lakh. Most Indians need a sticker visa through VFS.
Is Dubai possible for ₹1 lakh in winter?
Yes. Five nights in a 4-star hotel between November and March, with the e-visa, desert safari, Burj Khalifa and an Abu Dhabi day trip, typically costs ₹70,000 to ₹1,00,000 per person including flights. Avoid the Christmas–New Year fortnight and the Dubai Shopping Festival weekends, when hotel rates jump.
Is Malaysia and Singapore together possible in ₹1 lakh?
Yes for six or seven nights with 3- or 4-star hotels, keeping Singapore to three nights. Expect ₹80,000 to ₹1,10,000 per person including flights. Malaysia is visa-free for Indians until 31 December 2026, while Singapore needs a visa filed through an authorised agent, which we prepare and submit.
How many nights abroad can I get for ₹1 lakh?
Usually five to seven. Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Nepal stretch to seven nights with good hotels; Bali and Thailand give six; Dubai and Malaysia–Singapore give five or six. Mauritius and Turkey use the budget in five or six nights because the airfare is so much higher.
Does ₹1 lakh per person include flights?
On this page, yes. Every range includes return economy flights from a major Indian city, hotels with breakfast, transfers, main sightseeing, visa or entry fees and insurance. Lunches, dinners, shopping and optional activities are extra, so keep ₹8,000 to ₹15,000 per person aside depending on the country.
Which countries are visa-free for Indians at this budget?
As of October 2026: Thailand (30 days), Malaysia (until 31 December 2026), Sri Lanka (free ETA applied online), Mauritius (entry on arrival), the Maldives (30 days on arrival) and Nepal. Bhutan needs no visa but charges a daily development fee. Rules change, so we check again before booking.
Is a Maldives trip possible under ₹1 lakh?
A short one. Three nights in a beach villa at a mid-range resort with speedboat transfers and half board can come to ₹85,000 to ₹1,40,000 per person from Mumbai or Bengaluru. Water villas, seaplane transfers or all-inclusive plans push it well past ₹1 lakh. Local-island guesthouses are cheaper but alcohol-free and simpler.
When should I book a ₹1 lakh international trip?
Eight to twelve weeks ahead for most months, and four to five months ahead for Diwali, Christmas or the May vacation. Long-haul fares to Mauritius and Turkey move more than short-haul ones, so lock those flights first. Turkey and Singapore visas also need two to four weeks.
Is ₹2 lakh enough for a couple to go abroad?
Yes. ₹2 lakh for two equals ₹1 lakh per person, which covers six to seven nights in Bali, Vietnam, Sri Lanka or Thailand with 4-star hotels, or five nights in Dubai in winter. Couples set on Mauritius should travel in shoulder season and fly from Mumbai to stay within it.
