Best Places to Visit in February (2027): India and Abroad
The last cold-weather month before the heat: snow still on the slopes, beaches calm, wildlife easy to spot, and a Valentine's weekend in the middle. A destination-by-destination verdict, with the dates that change things in 2027.
February is the most underrated travel month for Indian families. The New Year and Republic Day crowds have gone home, prices in Goa, Kerala and the Andamans are below their December peak, and the weather across most of India is still cool and dry. The Himalaya keeps its deepest snow through the month, the tiger and rhino parks are at their best for sightings, and the deserts of Rajasthan and Kutch are comfortable at midday. It is short, too: 28 days in 2027, so the month fills up quickly once school exams are added to the calendar.
What makes February 2027 different from other years is its calendar. Lunar New Year falls on 6 February, so Vietnam, Singapore and Malaysia are busy in the first week. Ramadan is expected to begin around 8 February, which changes the feel of a Dubai trip for the rest of the month. Valentine's Day is a Sunday, giving couples a natural weekend. And two festivals many people expect in February — Maha Shivratri and Holi — fall in March this time. Below is a destination-by-destination verdict, a week-by-week calendar, honest "skip" advice, and costs in rupees including flights from Ahmedabad. Dates and visa notes are as of October 2026; rules change — we check before you book.

| From Thu 25 Feb | Gujarat board (GSEB) Class 10 and 12 exams, scheduled 25 February – 17 March | Families with board-year children travel before about 20 February or after mid-March |
Not in February this year: Maha Shivratri is on 6 March 2027 and Holi on 22 March 2027 (Holika Dahan on the 21st). If a Shivratri darshan at Somnath or Kashi is the reason for your trip, look at our March guide instead.

Snow in February: the last full month for Gulmarg and Auli
By February the Himalayan snowpack is at its deepest, but the days are longer and a little warmer than in January, which makes the month easier for children and older parents. Gulmarg's Gondola runs daily and its upper phase towards Apharwat opens when wind allows; Kongdori's slopes suit first-time skiers. Pahalgam and Sonamarg are white, though the road beyond some points can close after fresh falls. In Uttarakhand, Auli's ski slopes are at their most reliable from January to early March, with short GMVN and private courses.
- Why February rather than January: fewer sub-zero days in Srinagar, less fog on the flight route, and hotel rates lower than the New Year–Republic Day window.
- Late-month risk: in some years Gulmarg's lower slopes start to thin after about 20 February. If snow is the only point of the trip, travel in the first half of the month.
- Kashmir in Ramadan: from about 8 February, many local restaurants open later in the day. Hotels serve meals as normal, and we confirm vegetarian arrangements in writing.
- Not yet: Ladakh's road routes are closed in February; Chadar trek aside, it is a summer destination. Sikkim's North Sikkim valleys are often cut off by snow.

Beaches before the heat: Andaman, Kerala and Goa
Andaman Islands
February is when the Andaman Sea is calmest and clearest. Visibility for scuba at Havelock (Swaraj Dweep) and Neil (Shaheed Dweep) is at its seasonal best, ferries are easier to book than in December, and the afternoon heat has not yet built up. Radhanagar sunsets, the glass-bottom boat at North Bay and the light-and-sound show at the Cellular Jail make a balanced five-night plan. Verdict: the best February beach in India.
Kerala
Dry and green, with Munnar's tea gardens fresh in the mornings and Alleppey's backwaters calm. February is also a sensible start for an Ayurveda programme, before March humidity. The coast warms to 33°C by month-end, so plan beach time in the mornings and evenings. Pure-veg food is easy throughout the state. Our Kerala packages from Ahmedabad page has day-wise plans.
Goa and the Carnival
Goa's Carnival is expected around 6–9 February 2027, the four days before Ash Wednesday. King Momo's float parade moves through Panaji on the first day, then Margao, Vasco and Mapusa on following days. It is colourful and family-friendly in the daytime, but hotels in Panaji and North Goa charge weekend rates for the whole period. If you want Goa quiet and cheaper, choose the second half of the month. See Goa tour packages from Ahmedabad.
Heritage, deserts and festivals in February
Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Bikaner
February days are warm enough for forts and havelis and nights cool enough for a dune camp. Jaisalmer's Desert Festival is usually held over three days ending on the Magh full moon — 20 February in 2027 — with camel races, turban-tying contests and folk music at the Sam dunes; Rajasthan Tourism announces the programme nearer the date. Camps around Sam raise prices on festival nights, so book early. Verdict: one of the strongest February picks for families.
Agra and Khajuraho
The Taj Mahotsav usually runs for ten days from about 18 February at Shilpgram near the Taj, with crafts, regional food and performances. Khajuraho's classical dance festival against the temple backdrop has been held in late February and early March in recent years. Both suit culture-minded couples and families combining Agra with Orchha or Gwalior.
Rann Utsav: the final full month
The Dhordo Tent City season runs to 7 March 2027, so February is the last full month to see the White Rann this season. The salt crust is still hard and white, afternoons are warm at around 28°C and nights cool at about 10°C — gentler than in January for grandparents. The full moon on 20 February is the busiest night. From Ahmedabad it is a 6–8 hour drive, or a train to Bhuj.

Wildlife: why February is the sweet spot
February sits between winter's freezing dawn safaris and the heat of April and May. Grass is drying, water is still available but shrinking, and animals start to gather near it.
- Kaziranga, Assam: peak season for one-horned rhinos, wild buffalo and swamp deer, with migratory birds still on the wetlands. Pair it with Shillong and Cherrapunji in a six-night north-east trip.
- Jim Corbett, Uttarakhand: the Dhikala zone is open and February mornings are clear. Combine with Nainital for families.
- Ranthambore, Rajasthan: tiger sightings improve as the month warms; morning safaris are less bitterly cold than in January.
- Gir, Gujarat: lions are active and the forest still green; an easy weekend drive from Ahmedabad with Somnath.
Safari permits are released online in fixed quotas; weekends sell out first. Tell us your dates and we add permits to the same itinerary as your hotels.
Valentine's Day 2027: a Sunday, so plan a weekend
With 14 February on a Sunday, the natural break is Friday 12 to Sunday 14 February, or Thursday to Sunday with one more day off. Romantic resorts price this weekend like a long weekend, so the cheaper option is often to go the weekend before or after.
| Time you have | From Ahmedabad | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| 2 nights | Udaipur by road, or Goa | Lake-view rooms and Pichola boat rides; or a quiet South Goa resort |
| 3 nights | Dubai, or Kerala's Kumarakom | Short flight; Ramadan evenings in Dubai are atmospheric, but check that your restaurant serves in the daytime |
| 4 nights | Sri Lanka on the Ahmedabad–Colombo non-stop, or Havelock | Bentota beach plus Kandy; or the Andamans' best snorkelling |
| 5 nights and more | Maldives, Vietnam or Gulmarg | Overwater villa; Hoi An lanterns; or snow |

Best countries in February for Indian travellers
Visa notes are as of October 2026; rules change — we check before you book. For every visa we prepare and submit your application; approval is at the embassy's or authority's discretion.
Sri Lanka — the strongest overseas pick
February is the driest month across most of the island: Kandy, Sigiriya and Ella are clear, the south-west beaches are calm, and Colombo's Navam Perahera procession falls on the February full moon. The tourist ETA is free for Indians but must be approved before travel; see our Sri Lanka visa guide and Sri Lanka packages from Ahmedabad.
Vietnam — go after Tet week
Tet falls on 6 February 2027. Expect higher fares and some closures roughly from 3 to 12 February; after that, the south is dry and sunny, Da Nang and Hoi An are mild, and Hanoi is cool at 14–21°C. Indians need the e-visa; read our Vietnam e-visa guide.
Thailand
Dry across the Andaman coast and Bangkok, before the April heat. As of October 2026 Indians enter visa-free for up to 30 days, with the online Digital Arrival Card. Chinese New Year in early February fills Bangkok's Chinatown. Details in our Thailand visa guide.
Dubai in Ramadan
Ramadan is projected to start around 8 February and run into early March. Tourists are welcome and malls, parks and the desert safari operate, but eating and drinking in public during daylight is discouraged, live entertainment is reduced and some restaurants open only at sunset. The upside: lower hotel rates and beautiful iftar evenings. Families wanting the full Dubai experience should travel in the first week of February. See our Dubai visa guide.
Singapore and Malaysia
Both celebrate Chinese New Year from 6 February with two public holidays; attractions stay open but are crowded. Malaysia's 30-day visa exemption for Indians runs to 31 December 2026; its position for 2027 had not been announced as of October 2026, so we check before you book — see our Malaysia visa guide.
Maldives and Australia
The Maldives is in high season with calm seas; Indians get a free visa on arrival with a confirmed resort booking. Australia is in late summer — Sydney's beaches and the Great Barrier Reef warm, Melbourne pleasant — and suits families visiting relatives during a long leave.
Skip for now: Bali and Mauritius
Bali is in its wet season, with heavy afternoon rain. Mauritius is hot and humid, with cyclone risk until about March. Both are better from April or May.
Board exams and February family travel
For many Gujarati families, February is decided by exams. GSEB Class 10 and 12 theory exams are scheduled from 25 February to 17 March 2027, and CBSE's main board exams also begin in February (the board publishes its date sheet in late autumn). That leaves three practical patterns:
- A short break in the first half of February for families with children in Classes 8 or 9 — Gir, Kutch, Udaipur or Goa, all within easy reach.
- Grandparents and parents travelling without the board-year child, often to Kerala, Sri Lanka or a pilgrimage circuit — common for families where one parent stays home.
- Booking now for after the exams — late March or April holidays to Kashmir, Sikkim or Singapore, when fares can be locked early.
Every trip we plan is private and on your own dates, so a family can split travel around exams without being tied to anyone else's schedule.
Why plan a February holiday with Vibrant Holidays
- Dates checked for your year: Tet, Ramadan, Carnival, full moons and exam calendars change every year; we plan around the 2027 dates, not last year's.
- India and abroad compared fairly, with flights included, so a Kerala week and a Sri Lanka week can be weighed on the same basis.
- Visas and permits in one plan: Sri Lanka ETA, Vietnam and Dubai e-visas, safari and Rann permits; approval always rests with the authority.
- Pure-veg and Jain meals arranged on request and confirmed in writing, with honest notes where choices thin out.
- Ahmedabad team since 2015, planning on WhatsApp or phone for travellers anywhere, with 24×7 on-trip support; IATA-accredited; member of TAAI, TAFI, ADTOI and IATO; recognised by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.

Which is the best place to visit in February in India?
For snow, Gulmarg in Kashmir and Auli in Uttarakhand still have deep cover in February. For beaches, the Andaman Islands have their calmest, clearest sea. Kerala, Rajasthan and the Rann of Kutch are dry and pleasant, and Kaziranga is at its best for rhino sightings. Each suits a different kind of traveller.
Which countries are best to visit in February from India?
Sri Lanka has its driest weather across most of the island, Vietnam is excellent once the Tet week passes, Thailand is dry before the April heat, and the Maldives is in high season. Dubai is pleasant but in Ramadan from about 8 February 2027. Bali and Mauritius are better later in the year.
Is February a good time to visit Kashmir?
Yes. February has the deepest snow of the season in Gulmarg, with skiing, sledging and the Gondola running, and days slightly warmer than January. The first half of the month is the safest bet for full cover. Fly into Srinagar, keep a spare day for weather, and choose a hotel with dependable heating.
Can we see snow in India in February?
Yes. Gulmarg, Sonamarg and Pahalgam in Kashmir, Auli in Uttarakhand and Solang and Sissu near Manali all usually have snow in February. Higher Sikkim valleys have snow too but roads may close. For the most reliable cover, travel before about 20 February and pick a higher resort such as Gulmarg.
Is Maha Shivratri in February 2027?
No. Maha Shivratri falls on Saturday 6 March 2027, and Holi on Monday 22 March 2027, with Holika Dahan the evening before. Both are in March this year because of the lunar calendar. Festival dates can differ by a day between almanacs, so confirm with your local temple calendar.
Is it a good idea to visit Dubai in February 2027?
The weather is ideal, at around 15 to 26°C, but Ramadan is expected to start around 8 February 2027. Attractions stay open and hotels are often cheaper, yet daytime eating in public is discouraged and evenings change in character. Families wanting a normal Dubai experience should travel in the first week of February.
When is the Goa Carnival in 2027?
Goa Carnival is held over the four days before Ash Wednesday, which falls on 10 February 2027, so it is expected around 6 to 9 February. Float parades usually start in Panaji and move to Margao, Vasco and Mapusa. Goa Tourism announces the confirmed schedule and routes in January.
Is February a good time for Andaman?
February is one of the best months for the Andaman Islands. The sea is calm, water visibility for snorkelling and scuba is excellent, rain is rare and ferries are easier to book than in December. Daytime temperatures are around 23 to 30°C. Five nights across Port Blair, Havelock and Neil works well.
Where can couples go for Valentine's Day 2027?
Valentine's Day 2027 is a Sunday, so a Friday-to-Sunday break works. From Ahmedabad, Udaipur by road, South Goa or Kumarakom suit two or three nights. With four nights or more, Sri Lanka on the non-stop flight, Havelock in the Andamans, the Maldives or Vietnam work well. Book by mid-December.
Is the Rann Utsav open in February 2027?
Yes. The Dhordo Tent City season runs from 1 November 2026 to 7 March 2027, so February is the last full month. Days are warm and nights cool at about 10°C, gentler than January. The full moon falls on 20 February 2027, the busiest night, so book early for those dates.
Is February good for Vietnam?
Yes, once Tet is over. Lunar New Year falls on 6 February 2027, and the week around it brings higher fares and closed shops. From mid-February the south is dry and sunny, the centre is mild, and Hanoi is cool. Indians need the official e-visa, which takes about three working days.
