Do Indians need a visa for Dubai? Yes. An Indian passport holder needs a UAE visa arranged before the flight, unless they qualify for the conditional visa on arrival available to Indians who hold a valid US, UK or EU visa, residence permit or US green card, or a residence permit from Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand or Canada. For everyone else the standard choice is the 30-day single-entry tourist e-visa, applied through a UAE-registered sponsor such as a licensed travel company, a hotel or a UAE airline. The visa arrives as a PDF; there is no embassy visit and no passport stamping in India.

This guide is written for Indian families, couples and business owners planning a Dubai holiday in 2026. It compares every visa type with the government fee and the realistic all-in cost in rupees, lists the documents by traveller type, explains the visa-on-arrival conditions in plain language, covers OK-to-Board and transit visas, and lists the reasons UAE applications from India get refused. Fees and rules below were checked against GDRFA Dubai, ICP and airline information as of October 2026; rules change, so we check again before you book.

How to read this table: the government column comes from GDRFA Dubai fee schedules as reported in August–September 2026, at roughly ₹26 to the dirham. The all-in column adds the service charge that licensed sponsors add for document checks, submission and insurance, which is what you pay in practice. Express processing (24 hours or less) costs ₹3,000–10,000 more depending on urgency. The 5-year visa's AED 3,000 deposit is refunded when the visa is used correctly.

Visa-on-arrival fee note: sources disagree. Gulf News, citing ICP, gave AED 100 for the 14-day visa and AED 250 for the 60-day visa or a 14-day extension; a September 2026 Indian report quotes AED 250 plus a AED 100 smart-services charge. Budget for the higher figure and treat anything lower as a saving.

Inside a Vibrant Holidays Dubai package the 30-day tourist visa is already included in the price; a visa-only service is quoted separately before you pay.

Documents for a Dubai tourist visa from India

For every applicant

  • Passport: colour scan of the front and back pages, valid for at least six months from your arrival date. Scans must be sharp, uncropped and without glare on the photo page.
  • Photograph: recent colour photo on a plain white background, face fully visible, no spectacles glare, no caps. Phone selfies against a wall are the most frequent reason for a resubmission request.
  • Confirmed return air ticket matching the visa dates.
  • Hotel booking for the whole stay. Since late 2024 UAE authorities have asked for bookings that can be verified, often with a QR code; a screenshot from a booking app is not always enough.
  • PAN card copy – many sponsors ask for it to complete the application.

Additional documents by traveller type

  • Salaried: last three to six months' bank statement showing salary credits; some sponsors also ask for a salary slip.
  • Self-employed or business owners: bank statement and ITR or GST registration if requested.
  • Children under 18: passport scan, photo, and both parents' passport copies; a consent letter if travelling with one parent.
  • Senior citizens and homemakers: a covering bank statement, or the sponsoring family member's statement and proof of relationship.
  • Staying with relatives in the UAE: the host's Emirates ID and tenancy (Ejari) contract or proof of address; for family-sponsored visits the host's salary must meet the minimum for that relationship.
  • Travel insurance: included by most sponsors; check that it covers the full stay.

Funds: there is no published minimum bank balance for tourist visas, but officers look for steady balances rather than a large deposit a few days before applying. Carrying around AED 3,000 per person in cash or available card limit on arrival is a sensible precaution.

Processing time: how early to apply

  • Standard: GDRFA Dubai publishes a 48-hour turnaround for single-entry tourist visas once the application is complete. In practice, allow three to five working days, because of document corrections, weekends and holiday peaks.
  • Express: 24-hour and same-day options exist through sponsors for an extra fee; useful for business emergencies, not something to rely on for a planned holiday.
  • Peak periods: Diwali, Christmas–New Year, Eid holidays and the Dubai Shopping Festival see heavier queues. Apply two to three weeks before travel.
  • Do not apply too early either: a tourist visa must normally be used within 60 days of issue, so applying three months ahead is not possible.
  • Do not apply twice: filing the same passport through two agencies "to be safe" can trigger a block, because the system sees an open application.

Dubai visa on arrival for Indians: who qualifies

The UAE allows certain Indian passport holders to get a visa at the airport counter without applying in advance. As of October 2026, the conditions published by ICP and reported by UAE media are:

  1. Ordinary Indian passport (not diplomatic or official), valid for at least six months from arrival.
  2. And one of these, valid on the day you land:
    • a visa, residence permit or green card issued by the United States;
    • a visa or residence permit issued by the United Kingdom or an EU member state;
    • a residence permit issued by Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand or Canada (added in February 2025).
  3. Family members travelling with an eligible holder may also qualify; carry proof of relationship.

Options: a 14-day visa that can be extended once for 14 more days, or a 60-day visa that cannot be extended.

Safer reading where sources differ: some pages say any US or UK visa qualifies, others say tourist visas, residence permits or green cards. If your US or UK visa is valid but unused, it should still count; if it has expired, even by a day, it does not. For the six newer countries, rely on a residence permit rather than a visitor visa. If you are unsure, take the pre-arranged e-visa – being refused at the arrival counter after a three-hour flight is a poor start to a holiday.

Who should still apply in advance even if eligible: families where only one member qualifies, travellers whose US visa is in a cancelled or renewed passport (carry both passports), and anyone connecting onward from Dubai the same week.

OK to Board (OTB): is it still needed?

OK to Board is an airline message confirming that a passenger's UAE visa has been verified. For years Indian carriers insisted on it, and passengers without it were held at check-in. Air India states that OKTB is not required for travel to the UAE with effect from 15 December 2024, and most airlines flying India–UAE have relaxed the requirement in a similar way.

  • Carry a printed copy of the visa; check-in staff verify it against the GDRFA (Dubai-issued) or ICP (other emirates) website.
  • If a particular airline or fare type still asks for OTB, it is done by the agency that booked the ticket and usually takes a few hours.
  • When we book your flight and visa together, we confirm the airline's current rule at ticketing so it never becomes an issue at the counter.

Common reasons Dubai visas get rejected for Indian applicants

ReasonWhat it looks likeHow to avoid it
Poor scan or photoBlurred passport page, shadow on the face, cropped edgesScan on a flatbed or use a scanning app; white background photo
Name mismatchSurname on ticket differs from passport; given name and surname swappedCopy names exactly from the passport data page
Unverifiable hotel bookingScreenshot or a booking that is later cancelledUse a confirmed booking with reference number or QR code
Previous overstay or absconding caseEarlier UAE overstay, even if the fine was paidDisclose it; a sponsor can check status before applying
Earlier rejection in the UAE or GCCRecent refusal not addressedFix the cause first; there is no mandatory waiting period
Weak or inconsistent financesLarge unexplained deposit just before applyingSubmit a normal 3–6 month statement
Duplicate applicationSame passport filed by two agenciesUse one sponsor only

A refused tourist visa fee is not refunded. If you are refused, find out the reason before reapplying – resubmitting the same file usually gets the same answer.

How Vibrant Holidays applies for your UAE visa

  1. Share documents on WhatsApp: passport front and back, photo and PAN for each traveller. We check them the same day and point out any scan or photo that is likely to be bounced.
  2. Choose the right visa: 30-day single entry for most holidays; multiple entry if your plan includes Oman or a cruise; we check visa-on-arrival eligibility if anyone holds a US, UK or EU visa.
  3. Book flights and hotels first: the confirmed return ticket and hotel vouchers go into the application, so dates match exactly.
  4. Submit through our UAE partner: we prepare and submit your application; approval is at the UAE immigration authority's discretion. You see the status on WhatsApp.
  5. Receive the e-visa PDF: usually within three to five working days. We verify it on the official portal and send it with your vouchers.
  6. Before you fly: we confirm the airline's OTB position, send a printable document pack and brief you on arrival formalities, the Tourism Dirham charged by hotels and the AED 60,000 cash-declaration threshold.

Every Dubai trip we plan is private and customised – your own dates, private transfers, Gujarati veg and Jain meals arranged on request and confirmed in writing, and 24×7 on-tour support. We are IATA-accredited; members of TAAI, TAFI, ADTOI and IATO; and recognised by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. Our office is on C G Road, Ahmedabad, open Monday to Saturday.

Practical points once your visa is approved

  • Entry window: the visa validity starts on the day you enter, not the day it was issued, but it must be used within its entry validity (normally 60 days from issue).
  • All emirates covered: a UAE tourist visa lets you visit Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and the other emirates. It does not cover Oman; Musandam or Muscat trips need separate entry arrangements.
  • Overstay: fines are charged per day after the visa expires and can affect future applications. If a flight is cancelled, contact your sponsor before the visa expires.
  • Medicines: carry prescriptions for any medication, especially strong painkillers or psychiatric medicines, which are controlled in the UAE.
  • Cash: amounts above AED 60,000 (or equivalent) must be declared on arrival.

Dubai Visa: FAQs

What is the Dubai visa price for Indians in 2026?

The GDRFA government fee for a 30-day single-entry tourist visa is about AED 265 including VAT, roughly ₹6,900. With the sponsor's service charge and insurance, most Indians pay ₹7,000 to ₹9,000. A 60-day single-entry visa costs about ₹9,800 to ₹12,500 all-in, and multiple-entry visas cost more. Express processing adds to the price.

Can Indians get a visa on arrival in Dubai?

Only if they hold a valid US, UK or EU visa, residence permit or US green card, or a residence permit from Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand or Canada, with a passport valid for six months. They can take a 14-day visa, extendable once, or a 60-day visa at the airport. Everyone else must arrange the visa before flying.

How long does a Dubai tourist visa take for Indians?

GDRFA publishes a 48-hour standard turnaround once the file is complete. In practice allow three to five working days, as scans or photos often need correcting and weekends intervene. During Diwali, Christmas and Eid, apply two to three weeks before travel. Express options of 24 hours or less cost extra.

What documents are required for a Dubai visa from India?

A clear colour scan of the passport front and back pages valid for six months, a white-background photograph, a confirmed return ticket, a verifiable hotel booking and usually a PAN card copy. Salaried and self-employed travellers may be asked for bank statements. Children need both parents' passport copies, and visitors staying with relatives need the host's documents.

Is OK to Board required for Dubai from India?

Mostly no. Air India states that OKTB has not been required for UAE travel since 15 December 2024, and most carriers on India–UAE routes have relaxed it. Carry a printed visa copy, which check-in staff verify online. If a specific airline still asks for OTB, the booking agency arranges it within a few hours.

Which is better for a holiday: the 30-day or 60-day Dubai visa?

For a normal holiday of up to four weeks, the 30-day single-entry visa is enough and cheapest. Choose the 60-day visa only if you will actually stay longer, such as parents visiting children working in the UAE. If you plan to leave and re-enter, for example to visit Oman or take a cruise, choose a multiple-entry visa.

Why do Dubai visas get rejected for Indians?

The usual reasons are unclear passport scans or photos, names that differ between passport and ticket, hotel bookings that cannot be verified, an earlier overstay or rejection in the UAE or another Gulf country, unexplained large deposits in the bank statement, and the same passport being submitted by two agencies. The visa fee is not refunded on rejection.

Does a UAE tourist visa allow travel to Abu Dhabi and Sharjah?

Yes. Although many people call it a Dubai visa, it is a UAE visa valid for all seven emirates, including Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah. You can visit the BAPS Hindu Mandir and Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi on the same visa. It does not cover Oman, which has its own entry rules.

Can I get a 5-year multiple-entry Dubai visa as an Indian?

Yes, the 5-year multiple-entry tourist visa is open to Indians, usually with strong bank records. It allows stays of up to 90 days per visit. The non-refundable cost is about AED 715 and there is an AED 3,000 refundable deposit. It suits frequent business visitors and families with relatives in the UAE rather than one-time holidaymakers.

Do I need a transit visa for a Dubai stopover?

Only if you want to leave the airport. Passengers on Emirates, Etihad or flydubai can get a 48-hour or 96-hour transit visa issued by the airline on the same booking, with an onward ticket to a third country. If you will stay longer than four days, a regular 30-day tourist visa is the better choice.

Is a Dubai visa included in Vibrant Holidays packages?

Yes. Our Dubai packages include the 30-day single-entry UAE tourist visa unless stated otherwise. We prepare and submit the application with your flights and hotel vouchers so dates match exactly; approval is at the UAE authority's discretion. We also handle visa-only requests and check visa-on-arrival eligibility for travellers with US, UK or EU visas.
