Thailand Trip Cost from India: A Line-by-Line Budget
What a 5 or 6 night Thailand holiday really costs once flights, hotels, transfers, island tickets, meals and a SIM card are all counted – in rupees, for couples, families and friends.
Ask five people what their Thailand trip cost from India and you will hear five numbers between ₹35,000 and ₹1.5 lakh per person. They are all true, because the total depends on a handful of choices: which Indian city you fly from and when, Bangkok–Pattaya or Phuket–Krabi, the hotel class, whether transfers are private or shared, how many paid tours you take, and whether you eat at Indian restaurants twice a day. This page takes those choices one at a time and puts a rupee range on each, so you can build your own number before you look at any quote.
Everything here is per person unless stated, in Indian rupees at about ₹2.8 to the Thai baht – the rate in early November 2026. Baht prices are given too, because that is what you will see on the ground. Visa and fee information is as of November 2026; rules change – we check before you book. If you want ready-priced packages rather than a do-it-yourself budget, our Thailand tour packages page lists live land prices and day-wise itineraries; this page is about the full trip cost, flights and pocket money included.

Thailand trip cost at a glance
| Trip style (5 nights) | What it looks like | All-in per person |
|---|---|---|
| Budget | Low-cost flights with cabin bag or a sale fare, 3-star hotels, shared transfers, two paid tours, street food and simple Indian meals | ₹40,000 – 55,000 |
| Mid-range (most common) | Full-service flights with checked bags, good 3- or 4-star hotels, private transfers, four paid tours, Indian restaurant meals | ₹55,000 – 85,000 |
| Comfort | 4- or 5-star resorts, pool-access rooms on the islands, private speedboat or premium tours, dinner cruise and shows | ₹85,000 – 1,40,000 |
Add roughly ₹6,000 to ₹15,000 per person for a sixth night, depending on hotel class and city. Peak dates – Diwali week, 20 December to 5 January, and the Songkran week in April – push every line up by 20 to 50%.
Flights to Thailand from Indian cities
Airfare is usually the largest single line. Ranges are return economy per person, booked five to eight weeks ahead, outside the peak weeks. Bangkok has two airports: Suvarnabhumi (BKK) for most full-service flights and Don Mueang (DMK) for many low-cost ones.
| From | Bangkok return | Phuket or Krabi return | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Delhi | ₹18,000 – 30,000 | ₹20,000 – 34,000 | Most choice of airlines; overnight flights common |
| Mumbai | ₹16,000 – 28,000 | ₹18,000 – 32,000 | Non-stops to Bangkok and Phuket; good for Pune travellers too |
| Bengaluru | ₹16,000 – 28,000 | ₹18,000 – 31,000 | Non-stops to Bangkok; island routes vary by season |
| Chennai | ₹14,000 – 24,000 | ₹17,000 – 30,000 | Among the cheapest Bangkok fares in India |
| Hyderabad | ₹14,000 – 22,000 | ₹17,000 – 30,000 | Short overnight flight to Bangkok |
| Kolkata | ₹13,000 – 24,000 | ₹16,000 – 30,000 | Shortest flight from India, about 2½ hours |
| Ahmedabad | ₹16,000 – 26,000 | ₹20,000 – 34,000 | About 4–4½ h to Bangkok; island trips usually connect in Bangkok |
The cabin-bag trap: the cheapest fares on Don Mueang often allow only 7 kg. Adding 15–20 kg checked baggage each way can cost ₹2,500 to ₹5,000 per person, which can make a full-service ticket the better deal for families. A Bangkok–Phuket domestic flight, if you combine regions, is about ₹3,500 to ₹7,000 one way with a bag. City pages with exact airports and timings: Thailand from Delhi, from Bengaluru, from Chennai, from Hyderabad, from Kolkata and from Pune.
Visa, arrival card and the proposed tourist fee
- Visa: ₹0. Since 15 September 2026 Indian passport holders can visit Thailand for tourism for up to 30 days per entry without a visa. Before that date the visa-free stay was 60 days, so older blog posts are out of date. Stays beyond 30 days need an extension in Thailand (about 1,900 baht) or a tourist e-visa applied for before travel. Full details are on our Thailand visa for Indians page.
- Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC): ₹0. Every visitor fills it online within 72 hours before landing. Use only the official site; look-alike sites charge for a free form.
- Proposed tourist entry fee: not charged yet. Thailand's tourism policy committee approved a 450-baht (about ₹1,250) fee for foreign visitors in principle in August 2026, replacing an older 300-baht plan. As of November 2026 it still needs Cabinet approval and publication in the Royal Gazette, and the proposal allows 180 days after that before collection starts, so it is unlikely before 2027. We will add it to quotes only once it is actually in force.
- Proof of funds and return ticket: immigration can ask for them. Carry printed hotel bookings, the return ticket and a card or some cash; our vouchers cover the paperwork.
Hotel costs by city and tier
Per room per night, two adults, with breakfast, in the November–April season outside the peak weeks. Divide by two for the per-person share.
| City | 3-star | 4-star | 5-star / pool villa | Area tip |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bangkok | 1,500–2,800 baht (₹4,200–7,800) | 2,800–5,000 baht (₹7,800–14,000) | 5,000–12,000 baht (₹14,000–33,600) | Pratunam for shopping, Sukhumvit for Indian food and the Skytrain |
| Pattaya | 1,200–2,500 baht (₹3,400–7,000) | 2,500–4,500 baht (₹7,000–12,600) | 4,500–10,000 baht (₹12,600–28,000) | Beach Road or Jomtien for families |
| Phuket | 1,500–3,000 baht (₹4,200–8,400) | 3,000–6,000 baht (₹8,400–16,800) | 6,000–18,000 baht (₹16,800–50,400) | Patong for nightlife and Indian restaurants, Kata or Karon for calmer beaches |
| Krabi (Ao Nang) | 1,300–2,600 baht (₹3,600–7,300) | 2,600–5,000 baht (₹7,300–14,000) | 5,000–15,000 baht (₹14,000–42,000) | Ao Nang for the beach and boat pier |
From 20 December to early January, island hotels can double and often demand minimum stays; in May to September Phuket and Krabi resorts drop 25 to 40%. A family needing two rooms or a family suite should budget the room cost, not the per-person figure, because children's discounts on rooms are small.
Transfers and getting around
| Journey | Shared (per person) | Private car or van (per vehicle) |
|---|---|---|
| Bangkok airport to city hotel | Airport Rail Link up to 45 baht (₹125) plus a short taxi | 1,000–1,500 baht (₹2,800–4,200) |
| Bangkok to Pattaya (about 2 h) | Coach or shared van 150–400 baht (₹420–1,100) | 1,800–2,800 baht (₹5,000–7,800) |
| Phuket airport to Patong or Kata | Airport bus or shared van 150–200 baht (₹420–560) | 800–1,200 baht (₹2,200–3,400) |
| Phuket to Krabi (about 2½–3 h) | Shared van or ferry 400–700 baht (₹1,100–2,000) | 2,500–3,500 baht (₹7,000–9,800) |
| Within Bangkok | Skytrain or metro 17–65 baht per ride | Grab car 150–400 baht for most city trips |
For a couple, private transfers add about ₹5,000 to ₹9,000 each across a five-night trip; for a family of four sharing one van the per-person cost falls sharply, which is why we usually recommend private vehicles for families and seniors with luggage.
Tour and entry ticket costs
Typical adult prices for shared tours with hotel pick-up, as of November 2026. Children usually pay 60 to 80% of the adult price. National-park fees are often collected separately in cash at the pier.
| Tour | Adult price (baht) | In rupees | Extra to budget |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phi Phi Islands by speedboat with lunch (from Phuket or Krabi) | 1,500–2,500 | ₹4,200–7,000 | Park fee about 400 baht (₹1,100) |
| James Bond Island and Phang Nga Bay | 1,300–2,200 | ₹3,600–6,200 | Park fee about 300 baht; canoeing often extra |
| Krabi Four Islands by long-tail boat | 500–900 | ₹1,400–2,500 | Park fee about 400 baht |
| Coral Island (Koh Larn) by speedboat, Pattaya | 600–1,000 | ₹1,700–2,800 | Parasailing, sea walk 500–1,500 baht each |
| Safari World and Marine Park with lunch, Bangkok | 1,100–1,600 | ₹3,100–4,500 | A full day; private transfer if not included |
| Alcazar or Tiffany's show, Pattaya | 600–1,200 | ₹1,700–3,400 | VIP seats cost more |
| Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew | 500 entry | ₹1,400 | Dress code; a guide is extra |
| Chao Phraya dinner cruise | 900–1,600 | ₹2,500–4,500 | Vegetarian buffet on most cruises |
| Nong Nooch Garden with shows | 600–1,000 | ₹1,700–2,800 | Transfer from Pattaya |
A first-timer on Bangkok–Pattaya usually takes Coral Island, Alcazar, Safari World and one city or temple tour: about ₹8,000 to ₹12,500 per adult. A Phuket–Krabi trip with Phi Phi, James Bond Island and Four Islands, park fees included, comes to about ₹10,500 to ₹17,000.
Food costs, including vegetarian and Jain
- Thai street food and food courts: 60–150 baht (₹170–420) a dish. Vegetarian options exist – ask for "jay" (vegan-style, no fish sauce) – but strict vegetarians should be careful with stocks and sauces.
- Indian restaurants: a vegetarian thali or two dishes with rotis costs about 250–450 baht (₹700–1,250) per person. Bangkok's Sukhumvit and Pahurat, Pattaya's Second Road and Patong in Phuket have the widest choice, including Gujarati and Jain-friendly kitchens that cook without onion and garlic on request.
- Hotel buffets and island-tour lunches: buffet dinners 600–1,200 baht (₹1,700–3,400); tour lunches are included but often thin on vegetarian food, so tell the operator in advance.
- Daily food budget: about ₹1,200–1,800 per person if you mix street food and Indian meals, ₹1,800–3,000 if you eat at Indian restaurants for lunch and dinner, more with seafood or drinks. Krabi's Ao Nang and quieter Phuket beaches have fewer Indian kitchens, so Jain travellers often carry khakhra, thepla and ready-to-eat packs.
Sample 5-night budgets: couple, family and friends
Rounded, outside peak weeks, built as private trips on the traveller's own dates.
| Line item | Couple, Bangkok 2N + Pattaya 3N, 3-star, from Delhi (per person) | Family of 4 (2 children under 12), Bangkok–Pattaya, 4-star, from Ahmedabad (whole family) | Four friends, Phuket 3N + Krabi 2N, from Mumbai or Bengaluru (per person) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Return flights | ₹18,000 – 30,000 | ₹64,000 – 1,04,000 | ₹18,000 – 32,000 |
| Hotels | ₹10,500 – 19,500 | ₹49,000 – 84,000 (family room or two rooms) | ₹11,000 – 25,000 |
| Transfers | ₹5,500 – 9,000 (private) | ₹13,000 – 20,000 (private van) | ₹3,200 – 4,500 (private, shared by four) |
| Tours and tickets | ₹8,000 – 12,500 | ₹28,000 – 42,000 | ₹10,500 – 17,000 |
| Food | ₹9,000 – 15,000 | ₹24,000 – 39,000 | ₹12,000 – 22,000 (incl. evenings out) |
| Visa and TDAC | Nil | Nil | Nil |
| SIM, insurance, tips | ₹1,500 – 2,500 | ₹4,000 – 6,000 | ₹1,500 – 2,500 |
| Total | ₹52,500 – 88,500 per person | ₹1,82,000 – 2,95,000 for four | ₹56,200 – 1,03,000 per person |
For 6 nights: add one hotel night, one day's food and possibly one more tour – about ₹5,000 to ₹9,000 per person on Bangkok–Pattaya and ₹6,000 to ₹12,000 on Phuket–Krabi. The family column works out to roughly ₹45,000 to ₹74,000 per head, lower than the couple per person, because rooms and vans are shared and children pay less for tours. Shopping is not counted anywhere in these tables.
Forex, cards and tax on payments
- Rate: about ₹2.8 per baht in November 2026. A quick rule: multiply baht by three and subtract a little.
- How to carry money: a multi-currency forex card for hotels and malls, plus some baht in cash for markets, boat piers, park fees and tips. Thai ATMs charge about 220 baht per withdrawal on foreign cards, so withdraw larger amounts less often. UPI is accepted only at a limited number of shops; do not rely on it.
- How much cash: ₹8,000 to ₹15,000 per person in baht for a five-night trip covers park fees, snacks, tips, massages and small shopping when hotels and tours are prepaid.
- TCS: since 1 April 2026, Tax Collected at Source on an overseas tour package is 2% from the first rupee; buying forex for your own travel attracts no TCS up to ₹10 lakh in a financial year. TCS is not a cost – it is adjusted against your income tax or refunded when you file your return. GST also applies on a package invoice.
- Insurance: a 6–7 day travel policy costs about ₹500 to ₹1,200 per person and is worth it for medical cover and missed connections.
Ten ways to bring the cost down
- Travel in May to September for Bangkok and Pattaya, or late October and November before the December peak; avoid Diwali week and 20 December to 5 January.
- Choose Bangkok–Pattaya for a first trip: no domestic flight and lower hotel rates than the islands.
- Book flights early – five to eight weeks ahead for normal dates, three to four months for festival dates.
- Compare departure cities. Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata often have cheaper Bangkok fares; a cheap domestic flight to one of them can save money for large families.
- Fly into Phuket and out of Krabi (or the reverse) to avoid backtracking.
- Use shared tours for islands, private vehicles for airport and city transfers.
- Do the Bangkok temples yourself by Skytrain and river boat; save guides for Safari World logistics.
- Eat one meal a day at a food court in a mall such as Terminal 21, where vegetarian stalls are labelled and prices are fixed.
- Buy an eSIM before you fly – about 300–600 baht for 8 to 15 days, far cheaper than roaming.
- Get a written quote with every line – hotel names, transfer type, tours and park fees – so a cheap headline price does not hide ₹20,000 of extras on the ground.
If your hard limit is ₹50,000 per person, see our guide to international trips under ₹50,000, which shows exactly how Thailand fits that budget.

How much does a Thailand trip cost from India?
A 5-night trip usually costs about ₹50,000 to ₹90,000 per person including return flights, hotels, transfers, main tours and food. Budget travellers can manage ₹40,000 to ₹55,000 with sale fares and 3-star hotels, while 4- or 5-star island resorts take it to ₹85,000 to ₹1.4 lakh per person.
Is ₹50,000 enough for a Thailand trip?
Yes for a 4 or 5 night Bangkok–Pattaya trip on 3-star hotels if flights are booked early from a city with cheap fares such as Chennai, Hyderabad or Kolkata, and you avoid peak weeks. Phuket–Krabi, private transfers everywhere or Indian restaurant meals twice a day usually push it past ₹50,000.
What is the cost of a Thailand trip for a couple?
For 5 nights on Bangkok and Pattaya with 3-star hotels and private transfers, a couple from Delhi typically spends about ₹1,05,000 to ₹1,77,000 together, flights included. Phuket and Krabi with 4-star resorts usually comes to ₹1,40,000 to ₹2,20,000 for two. Honeymoon pool villas cost more.
How much does a Thailand trip cost for a family of four?
A 5-night Bangkok–Pattaya trip for two adults and two children under 12, in a 4-star hotel with a private van, costs about ₹1.8 lakh to ₹3 lakh for the whole family including flights. Children pay almost the full airfare but less for tours, and sharing one van and room keeps the per-head cost down.
Do Indians need a visa for Thailand in 2026?
No, for tourism up to 30 days. Since 15 September 2026 Indian passport holders enter visa-free for up to 30 days per entry, reduced from 60 days earlier. You must fill the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card online within 72 hours before arrival and carry return tickets and hotel bookings.
Is there a Thailand tourist entry fee for Indians?
Not yet. A 450-baht fee for foreign visitors was approved in principle in August 2026, but as of November 2026 it still needs Cabinet approval and Royal Gazette publication, with a 180-day lead time before collection. It is unlikely to apply before 2027. We add it to quotes only once it is in force.
How much is the Phi Phi Island tour price?
A shared speedboat day trip to Phi Phi with lunch and hotel pick-up costs about 1,500 to 2,500 baht per adult, roughly ₹4,200 to ₹7,000, plus a national park fee of about 400 baht paid in cash. Premium speedboats and early-morning trips that reach Maya Bay before the crowds cost more.
How much money should I carry to Thailand?
If hotels, transfers and tours are prepaid, about ₹8,000 to ₹15,000 per person in baht covers park fees, snacks, tips, massages and small shopping for five nights. Carry a forex card as well for hotels and malls. Keep small notes for boat piers and markets, where cards are rarely accepted.
Which is cheaper, Bangkok–Pattaya or Phuket–Krabi?
Bangkok–Pattaya is usually ₹8,000 to ₹15,000 per person cheaper for the same nights. It needs no domestic flight, hotels cost less and the main tours are cheaper. Phuket–Krabi costs more because of island hotels, longer transfers and boat tours with park fees, but the beaches are much better.
When is the cheapest time to visit Thailand from India?
May to September has the lowest hotel rates, especially in Phuket and Krabi, though the Andaman coast gets monsoon rain and rough seas. Bangkok and Pattaya remain fine then. Late October and November give good weather before the December peak. Diwali, Christmas–New Year and Songkran week are the most expensive.
Is vegetarian food expensive in Thailand?
No. A vegetarian meal at an Indian restaurant costs about 250 to 450 baht, roughly ₹700 to ₹1,250 per person, and Thai vegetarian dishes at food courts cost much less. Bangkok, Pattaya and Patong have many Indian restaurants, including Gujarati and Jain-friendly kitchens; quieter beaches have fewer options.
