Hyderabad has an advantage that most Indian cities do not when it comes to Thailand: you can fly non-stop not only to Bangkok but also to Phuket. Thai Airways and IndiGo connect Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) with Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi airport in about three and three-quarter hours, low-cost carriers are adding Don Mueang flights this winter, and Air India Express flies to Phuket several mornings a week. That means a beach honeymoon no longer needs a Bangkok connection, and a family trip can start in Bangkok and finish on the islands without doubling back.

This guide is for travellers from the twin cities and the rest of Telangana. It sets out what a Thailand holiday costs per person, which flight suits which kind of trip, the entry rules for Indians as of October 2026, three day-wise plans, the Sankranti, Dasara and summer windows, a month-by-month table, and food – from halal biryani-style rice in Bangkok's old Muslim quarter to pure-veg and Jain meals near Pahurat. Every trip is private and customised: your own transfers, your own dates, hotels you choose. Planning is done by our team in Ahmedabad over WhatsApp and phone; we have no Hyderabad office, and we say so up front.

Thailand package cost from Hyderabad: price bands for 2026

Thailand packages on our site currently start at ₹13,000 per person, and 24 are live today. The bands below are indicative, per person on twin sharing, and exclude international airfare. They cover hotels with breakfast, private transfers from each airport, one signature day tour per place (Coral Island, a Bangkok city and temple tour, Phi Phi by speedboat, the Krabi 4-Island trip), and taxes.

Airfare from Hyderabad: a return Hyderabad–Bangkok economy ticket is typically about ₹14,000 to ₹22,000 per person when booked five to eight weeks out, rising to roughly ₹24,000–30,000 in Sankranti week, the April–May vacation and Christmas–New Year. The direct Phuket flight is usually priced in a similar band. Routes that fly into Phuket and back from Bangkok need a domestic Thai sector (about ₹4,000–8,000 per person) or an open-jaw ticket; we price both and show you the difference.

Paid in Thailand unless you ask us to include it: national park fees on island days (THB 200–400 per adult, in cash), Safari World and Marine Park, the Chao Phraya dinner cruise, evening shows in Phuket and Pattaya, massages, meals outside the plan and tips. The quote lists each with an estimate. A useful rule: if a "cheap" Thailand quote has no island day in Phuket or no Coral Island in Pattaya, add ₹3,000–6,000 per person to compare it fairly.

Flights from RGIA: Bangkok, Don Mueang and the direct Phuket option

How the timings change your plan

  • Thailand is 1½ hours ahead of India. An early-morning departure from Shamshabad lands in Phuket close to noon, so the first day is a check-in, the pool and Patong or Kata beach at sunset – no wasted day.
  • After-midnight flights to Bangkok land around dawn. We pre-book the room from the previous night or pay for early check-in; nobody should sit in a hotel lobby with children until 2 pm.
  • Don Mueang is a different airport from Suvarnabhumi, about 45–60 minutes apart by road. If you fly in on a low-cost carrier and out on a full-service one, the transfer plan has to say which airport each time.
  • Getting to RGIA: from Hitec City, Gachibowli or Kondapur the drive to Shamshabad is often under an hour at night; from Secunderabad, Uppal or Kukatpally allow 75–90 minutes. Reach three hours before an international flight.
  • Coming back: most return flights leave Bangkok in the late evening and land in Hyderabad in the small hours. Keep a late checkout or a day room so the family can shower and rest before the airport.

Entry rules for Indian passport holders (as of October 2026)

Thailand's rules for Indian tourists have changed several times since 2023. The position at the end of October 2026 is summarised here; we recheck before booking and again shortly before you fly.

  • Visa exemption cut to 30 days: since 15 September 2026, Indians with ordinary passports can stay up to 30 days visa-free for tourism, down from the earlier 60 days. A 5- to 10-night holiday fits easily.
  • TDAC: the Thailand Digital Arrival Card is filled online, free of charge, within 72 hours before arrival, by every traveller including infants. Only the official immigration portal should be used – look-alike sites charge fees. We send each family member a filled checklist.
  • What immigration may ask: a passport valid at least six months beyond arrival, the confirmed return ticket, hotel confirmations covering every night and enough money for the stay. Indian government advisories cite THB 20,000 per person (THB 40,000 per family) as the cash an officer may ask to see.
  • Discretion: visa-free entry is not automatic approval. The immigration officer decides at the counter, so carry printed documents rather than relying on your phone.
  • Longer stays or business: anyone staying beyond 30 days, or travelling for work, needs the correct visa before departure. We prepare the documents and submit the e-visa application; approval is the Thai authorities' decision.
  • Do not pack: vapes and e-cigarettes are illegal in Thailand and fines are heavy.

Detailed rules, fees and the e-visa process are on our Thailand visa guide for Indians, and other easy-entry options are in visa-free countries for Indians.

Sankranti, Dasara and summer vacation: Telangana holiday windows

Most Hyderabad families plan around school calendars and festival leave. The dates below are from the Telangana school calendar for 2026–27 (state-board schools; CBSE and international schools differ slightly, so check yours).

WindowDates (2026–27)Thailand fit
Christmas break (missionary schools)23 – 27 December 2026Peak season; fares and Phuket hotels at their highest. Book by early November.
Sankranti vacation13 – 17 January 2027Excellent weather on both coasts. Five days plus a weekend makes a 5-night trip; many families also travel home to Andhra that week, so flights fill.
Summer vacationAbout 24 April – 13 June 2027Late April is hot (35°C+) but dry; Songkran water festival is 13–15 April, just before the break. From mid-May the Andaman coast gets monsoon swells, so Bangkok–Pattaya suits better than Phuket–Krabi.
Dasara and Bathukamma10 – 22 October 2026 (next year's dates follow the lunar calendar)Rain is easing; good value; island boats may still be cancelled on rough days.

For IT professionals in Gachibowli and Madhapur, the practical trick is a Friday-night or Saturday-morning departure: a 4-night Bangkok–Pattaya trip needs only three days of leave. Muslim families travelling over the Eid holidays should know that Bangkok and the southern provinces observe Ramadan in Muslim neighbourhoods, and halal restaurants stay open after sunset.

Halal, vegetarian and spice: eating in Thailand as a Hyderabadi

Food is the question we hear most from Telangana families, and Thailand answers it better than most destinations.

Halal food is easy to find

  • Southern Thailand has a large Thai-Muslim population. In Krabi and parts of Phuket, halal restaurants are common, and many display the green-and-white halal certificate issued by Thailand's Islamic council.
  • Khao mok gai – turmeric-yellow rice cooked with chicken, served with a sweet-sour sauce – is the Thai-Muslim cousin of biryani. It is milder than a Hyderabadi dum biryani, but it is the dish most of our Telangana clients go back for.
  • In Bangkok, Sukhumvit Soi 3 and the lanes around it have Arab, Pakistani and Indian Muslim restaurants; the old Muslim community near Bang Rak and the riverside also has halal stalls.
  • Hotels: most 4- and 5-star hotels can mark a halal breakfast and avoid pork on request; we put it on the booking.

Pure-veg and Jain

  • Bangkok is easiest: Pahurat (Little India) near Chinatown has pure-veg North and South Indian restaurants and sweet shops; Sukhumvit has several vegetarian Indian kitchens.
  • Pattaya has many Indian restaurants, a few of them pure-veg.
  • Phuket and Krabi are harder: Indian restaurants exist in Patong and Ao Nang, but strictly Jain food (no onion, garlic or root vegetables) is limited. We request it from the hotel in writing and suggest carrying ready-to-eat packets for island days.
  • Thai vegetarian food is labelled "jay" with a yellow flag; it avoids meat, fish sauce and often garlic and onion as well.

Spice and other tips

  • Hyderabadis usually find Thai food mild at first. Ask for "phet mak" for more chilli – but be careful with som tam (papaya salad), which can be fiery.
  • Money: buy Thai baht or US dollars from an RBI-authorised money changer at home before you fly, or carry a multi-currency forex card. Airport exchange counters in Bangkok give poorer rates than city counters. Indian rupees are hard to exchange inside Thailand.
  • Island tours, street food, tuk-tuks and markets are cash only; keep THB 2,000–3,000 per person per day in small notes.
  • Pack a light jacket for air-conditioned malls and buses, sandals for boats, and modest clothing (shoulders and knees covered) for the Grand Palace and temples.
  • Indian mobile roaming is expensive; a Thai tourist SIM or eSIM at the airport costs a few hundred baht.

Thailand tour from Hyderabad: FAQs

How much does a Thailand tour package from Hyderabad cost?

Our Thailand packages currently start at ₹13,000 per person for 2 nights. Most of our Thailand packages fall between ₹29,800 and ₹62,500 per person. The final cost depends on the travel month, hotel category, number of travellers and whether flights from Hyderabad are added. Open any package below to see exactly what is included, or ask us for a quote with flights.

Is there a direct flight from Hyderabad to Thailand?

Yes. As of October 2026 Thai Airways and IndiGo fly non-stop to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi in about 3½–3¾ hours, Nok Air flies to Don Mueang and Thai AirAsia resumes that route from 16 November 2026. Air India Express also flies non-stop to Phuket a few times a week.

Can I fly from Hyderabad directly to Phuket?

Yes. Air India Express runs about four flights a week to Phuket from RGIA, leaving early in the morning and landing around lunchtime local time after roughly four hours. Schedules change by season, so we confirm the operating days before building a Phuket-first itinerary.

Do Indians from Hyderabad need a visa for Thailand?

Not for a tourist trip of up to 30 days, as of October 2026. Every traveller must fill the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card online within 72 hours before arrival. The immigration officer can still ask for a return ticket, hotel bookings and funds, and decides entry at the counter.

Is halal food easily available in Thailand?

Yes, more than most visitors expect. Southern Thailand, including Krabi and parts of Phuket, has a large Muslim community and many certified halal restaurants. In Bangkok, Sukhumvit Soi 3 and the riverside Muslim areas have plenty of options. We also ask hotels to provide halal or no-pork breakfasts.

Will vegetarian and Jain travellers find food in Thailand?

Vegetarians manage well in Bangkok and Pattaya, where pure-veg Indian restaurants are common, especially around Pahurat. Jain food is harder on the islands, so we request it from hotels in writing and suggest carrying ready-to-eat meals for long boat days.

What is a typical Hyderabad to Bangkok return airfare?

Usually about ₹14,000 to ₹22,000 per person in economy when booked five to eight weeks ahead. Sankranti week, summer vacation and Christmas–New Year push it towards ₹24,000–30,000. Low-cost Don Mueang flights can be cheaper but charge separately for checked baggage and meals.

Which is better for a first trip abroad: Bangkok–Pattaya or Phuket–Krabi?

Bangkok–Pattaya suits families with children, first-time international travellers and shoppers, and works in any month. Phuket–Krabi suits honeymooners and beach lovers and is best from November to April. With the direct Phuket flight, a 6-night trip can combine Phuket with three nights in Bangkok.

Is Thailand a good option during the Sankranti holidays?

Yes. Mid-January is the driest, most comfortable time across Thailand, including the islands. The 2027 Sankranti school break is 13 to 17 January, which with a weekend allows a 5-night trip. Flights and hotels fill because many local families travel that week, so book by November.

How much cash should I carry to Thailand?

Carry baht or US dollars bought from an authorised money changer before leaving, or a forex card. Immigration guidance mentions THB 20,000 per person, and island trips, markets and street food are cash only. Keep around THB 2,000–3,000 per person per day for spending.

How early should I reach RGIA for a Bangkok flight?

Three hours before departure for an international flight. For an after-midnight departure that means leaving Hitec City or Gachibowli around 9 pm and Secunderabad or Uppal a little earlier, since the drive to Shamshabad can take 75–90 minutes from the north and east of the city.

Can our extended family travel together as one group?

Yes. Every trip is private and customised, so a large family or a friends' circle travels as a private group on its own dates, with a van or coach for transfers, rooms booked together and meals arranged for mixed needs such as halal, vegetarian and Jain in the same group.
