The first question every Hyderabad family asks us about the Maldives is "is there a direct flight?" The honest answer for 2026–27 is: for part of the winter, yes. IndiGo has scheduled a non-stop from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) at Shamshabad to Malé four times a week from 2 December 2026 to 31 January 2027, a flight of about two and a half hours. Outside that window you fly one-stop through Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kochi or Colombo, which takes five to nine hours door to runway. That one fact decides more about a Maldives trip from Hyderabad than the choice of resort, because it fixes the hour you land in Malé, and the landing hour decides whether you can take a seaplane the same day.

This page is written for travellers from Hyderabad, Secunderabad and the rest of Telangana, and for families from Warangal or Karimnagar who fly out of RGIA. It covers per-person costs, the seasonal non-stop and the best connections as of November 2026, three itineraries built around those timings, how the Sankranti and summer breaks line up with Maldives weather, what Ramadan and Eid mean for a resort holiday, and an honest note on halal meat, Hyderabadi spice levels and Telugu vegetarian meals at resorts. Every trip is private and planned by our team in Ahmedabad, booked on WhatsApp or phone. We have no Hyderabad office.

What a Maldives package from Hyderabad costs (2026–27)

We have 16 Maldives packages on sale, starting at ₹18,000 per person. The bands below are per person, two adults sharing, without the air ticket to Malé. They include the room, the meal plan named, return transfers from Velana airport, the green tax, 17% TGST and the resort service charge, so two quotes can be compared on the same basis.

Stay type3 nights4 nights5 nights
Standard – guesthouse on Maafushi or Thulusdhoo, breakfast, public or shared speedboat₹20,000 – 30,000₹26,000 – 38,000₹31,000 – 46,000
Deluxe – 4-star speedboat resort in the Malé atolls, beach villa, half board₹56,000 – 82,000₹72,000 – 1,02,000₹86,000 – 1,22,000
Premium – 5-star, beach plus water villa, all-inclusive, seaplane or domestic flight₹1,00,000 – 1,65,000₹1,30,000 – 2,15,000₹1,55,000 – 2,65,000

Return airfare from Hyderabad: as of November 2026, a one-stop economy return usually costs about ₹20,000 – 35,000 per person when booked six to eight weeks out. The seasonal non-stop tends to sit at the lower end of that band outside Christmas week, and both climb to roughly ₹38,000 – 55,000 between about 20 December and 2 January. The US$50 Maldives departure fee for economy passengers is already inside the ticket price.

Not in the bands: excursions such as a dolphin cruise (about US$60 – 90 a head) or a sandbank picnic (US$150 – 300 for two), spa treatments, drinks beyond your meal plan, and a first-night Hulhumalé hotel if your landing time needs one. Resort extras attract the service charge and TGST, so add about 28% to any menu price. Dollar amounts use roughly ₹95 to the US dollar.

The non-stop dates and times come from IndiGo's published winter schedule; airlines adjust them, so read every timing here as "about", and we confirm the operating flight on your dates before quoting. On non-stop days with no seat left, a Bengaluru connection is the usual fallback.

Why the 5.30 pm landing matters

Seaplanes only fly in daylight and the last departures from Malé leave around 3.30 – 4 pm. A flight that lands at about 5.30 pm therefore rules out a same-day seaplane every time. On the non-stop we either pick a speedboat resort in North or South Malé Atoll, where boats run into the night and you are in your villa by about 7.30 pm, or we book one night in Hulhumalé and take the morning seaplane. The return works well: you can enjoy a full last morning and a late check-out before an early-evening departure.

Choosing a connection the rest of the year

  • Keep both legs on one ticket. Separately bought tickets leave you unprotected if the first flight is late. We book through-fares wherever they exist.
  • The Bengaluru routing lands in Malé in the early afternoon, which gives a fair chance of a speedboat transfer before sunset; it is our default for families.
  • The Colombo routing suits travellers adding a few nights in Sri Lanka, or using SriLankan's full-service baggage allowance for a long trip.
  • At RGIA: international departures use the integrated terminal; reach it three hours before the flight. From Banjara Hills or Gachibowli allow about an hour on the ORR, more from Secunderabad or Uppal at peak time.

Three Maldives itineraries from Hyderabad

4 nights / 5 days – Sankranti family trip on the non-stop

  • Day 1: Afternoon departure from Shamshabad. Land around 5.30 pm, meet the resort desk at Velana and take a 30 – 50 minute speedboat to a South Malé Atoll family resort. Dinner and an early night.
  • Day 2: House-reef snorkelling with resort gear; children's club in the afternoon; sunset on the jetty.
  • Day 3: Dolphin cruise in the late afternoon; a beach barbecue for the family.
  • Day 4: Sandbank trip or a glass-bottom boat for grandparents who prefer not to swim.
  • Day 5: Slow breakfast and late check-out, speedboat to the airport by mid-afternoon, early-evening flight home. Back in Hyderabad by about 9.30 pm.

Telangana's Sankranti holidays run from 13 to 17 January 2027, inside the non-stop window, so this plan uses three or four school days at most.

5 nights / 6 days – seaplane honeymoon through Bengaluru

  • Day 1: Early flight from RGIA to Bengaluru, then the midday flight to Malé. Night in a Hulhumalé beach hotel; walk on the beach and dinner nearby.
  • Day 2: Morning seaplane to a Baa or Lhaviyani Atoll resort; beach villa.
  • Day 3: Snorkelling safari for turtles and reef sharks; couples' spa.
  • Days 4 – 5: Move to a water villa for floating breakfast, a sunset cruise and a private dinner on the sand.
  • Day 6: Seaplane back to Malé, then the flight home via Bengaluru.

Telugu wedding seasons in February–March and May mean many of the honeymoons we plan from Telangana fall in those months. Resorts give honeymoon benefits only within six to twelve months of the wedding, against the marriage certificate.

5 nights / 6 days – value split: local island plus resort

  • Day 1: Morning connection via Mumbai, landing in the afternoon; public speedboat to Maafushi (about 30 – 45 minutes) and a guesthouse near the bikini beach.
  • Day 2: Shared excursion to snorkel with nurse sharks and stingrays, plus a sandbank stop.
  • Day 3: Free morning on the local island; transfer to a 4-star speedboat resort in the afternoon.
  • Days 4 – 5: Resort days on half board: kayaking, reef snorkelling, spa.
  • Day 6: Speedboat to the airport and the connection home.

Every itinerary is private and customised. Cousins, college friends or two families from the same gated community travel as a private group on their own dates, with villas and transfers booked together.

Ramadan, Eid and halal food: notes for Hyderabadi families

Hyderabad families often ask how a Muslim country handles a resort holiday, and many Hyderabadi Muslim families want to travel over Eid. A few facts help.

  • Halal meat: the Maldives is a Muslim country and chicken, mutton and beef served at resorts are generally halal. Some resorts also serve pork and alcohol to foreign guests in separate counters; if this matters to you, we ask the resort in writing how its kitchen keeps them apart.
  • Ramadan 2027 is expected from about the second week of February to the second week of March. Resorts run normally and serve meals all day. On local islands such as Maafushi, cafés may close in daytime and eating in public is frowned upon, so a resort stay is easier in that month.
  • Eid al-Fitr 2027 is expected around 9 – 10 March, and Eid al-Adha around mid-May. Both are Maldivian public holidays; resorts are unaffected, but Malé shops and offices close.
  • Prayer: most resorts can point you to a quiet space and the qibla direction; Malé has the Grand Friday Mosque if you stop in the capital.
  • Dress: swimwear and resort clothes are fine on resort islands. On local islands cover shoulders and knees away from the designated bikini beach.

If Sankranti is your only window, book by October: the non-stop has one aircraft's worth of seats four days a week, and Hyderabad families fill it early.

Entry rules and taxes for Indian passport holders (as of November 2026)

  • Visa: a free 30-day tourist visa on arrival. Carry a passport valid six months, a confirmed booking for every night, the return ticket and a card or cash to show funds if asked.
  • IMUGA: one free online traveller declaration per person, infants included, within 96 hours before arrival. There is no departure form any more. We send the link and check each form.
  • Taxes: green tax of US$12 per person per night at resorts (US$6 at small guesthouses on local islands), 17% TGST and a 10% service charge at most resorts. All are inside our bands.
  • Customs: no alcohol, pork products or religious material for distribution. Duty-free bottles bought at RGIA are held at Malé airport until you leave.

Entry is decided by Maldives Immigration; we recheck these rules in your week of travel.

Food and packing tips for travellers from Hyderabad

  • Spice level: resort food is mild by Hyderabadi standards. Most kitchens have Indian or Sri Lankan cooks who will make a biryani-style rice, a mirchi-heavy curry or a spicier dal when asked a day ahead. We pass the request to the resort with your booking.
  • Telugu vegetarian homes: rice, dal, rasam-style soups and vegetable curries are easy at larger resorts; curd rice usually needs a request. Ask for curries without fish stock or tuna flakes, which are common in Maldivian cooking. A sealed jar of avakaya or a packet of podi travels well and is allowed.
  • Jain or no-onion meals: possible at larger resorts with notice, which we confirm in writing; small guesthouses have limited choice.
  • Money: resorts bill in US dollars; cards work and UPI does not. Keep US$100 – 200 per couple in small notes for tips and local islands.
  • Packing: reef-safe sunscreen, a rash vest, water shoes, a cap and motion-sickness tablets for the speedboat. Seaplanes allow about 20 kg checked and 5 kg hand baggage.
  • Time: Malé is 30 minutes behind India; your phone will adjust, the resort's "island time" sometimes differs again, so ask at check-in.

Maldives tour from Hyderabad: FAQs

How much does a Maldives tour package from Hyderabad cost?

Our Maldives packages currently start at ₹18,000 per person for 2 nights. Most of our Maldives packages fall between ₹34,999 and ₹46,500 per person. The final cost depends on the travel month, hotel category, number of travellers and whether flights from Hyderabad are added. Open any package below to see exactly what is included, or ask us for a quote with flights.

Is there a direct flight from Hyderabad to the Maldives?

For part of the winter, yes. As of November 2026 IndiGo has scheduled a non-stop from RGIA to Malé four times a week from 2 December 2026 to 31 January 2027, taking about two and a half hours. Outside those dates you connect via Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kochi or Colombo. We confirm the operating flight before quoting.

What time does the Hyderabad–Malé non-stop land?

It is scheduled to leave Shamshabad mid-afternoon and land in Malé at about 5.30 pm local time, which is 30 minutes behind India. The return leaves Malé in the early evening and lands at RGIA at about 9.30 pm. Timings are as published for winter 2026–27 and can change.

Can we take a seaplane on the day we land from Hyderabad?

Not on the non-stop, because it lands after the last seaplanes of the day, which leave around 3.30 to 4 pm. Choose a speedboat resort near Malé, which you can reach the same evening, or stay one night in Hulhumalé and fly by seaplane the next morning. A Bengaluru connection lands earlier but still gives no guarantee.

What is the best connection from Hyderabad when there is no non-stop?

Usually an early Hyderabad–Bengaluru flight joined to the midday Bengaluru–Malé non-stop, about five to seven hours in all, on a single ticket. Mumbai works for the dawn or afternoon departures, and SriLankan via Colombo suits travellers adding Sri Lanka or wanting a full-service baggage allowance.

How much is a return flight from Hyderabad to Malé?

As of November 2026, a one-stop economy return usually costs about ₹20,000 to ₹35,000 per person when booked six to eight weeks ahead, with the seasonal non-stop often at the lower end. Christmas and New Year push fares to about ₹38,000 to ₹55,000. The US$50 departure fee is included in the ticket.

Is halal food available at Maldives resorts?

Yes. The Maldives is a Muslim country and the chicken, mutton and beef served at resorts are generally halal. Some resorts also serve pork and alcohol to foreign guests at separate counters. If you want to know how a kitchen separates them, we ask the resort in writing before you book.

Can resorts cook spicy Hyderabadi-style food?

Most resort menus are mild, but many kitchens have Indian or Sri Lankan cooks. With a day's notice they will make a spicier curry, a biryani-style rice or a stronger dal. We send your spice preference with the booking. Carrying a jar of pickle or podi from Hyderabad is allowed and helps.

Is it fine to visit the Maldives during Ramadan?

Yes. Resorts operate normally and serve meals throughout the day during Ramadan, expected from about mid-February to mid-March 2027. On local islands some cafés close in daytime and eating in public is discouraged, so a resort stay is more comfortable that month. Eid is a public holiday in Malé.

When should Hyderabad families with school children go?

The Telangana Sankranti holidays, 13 to 17 January 2027, are the best fit: dry weather, calm water and the seasonal non-stop running. The last week of April, at the start of the summer vacation, also works before the monsoon showers begin in May. Christmas is good but costs the most.

Do Indians from Hyderabad need a visa for the Maldives?

No advance visa is needed. Indian passport holders receive a free 30-day visa on arrival with a passport valid for six months, confirmed hotel bookings, a return ticket and proof of funds. Each traveller files the free IMUGA declaration online within 96 hours before arrival. Entry remains at Maldives Immigration's discretion.

Do you have an office in Hyderabad?

No. Our team works from C G Road in Ahmedabad and plans trips for Telangana clients on WhatsApp, phone or video call, Monday to Saturday. You receive a written plan with resort names and prices, pay online against an invoice, and get tickets and vouchers as PDFs, with 24×7 support during the trip.
