Maldives Tour Packages from Mumbai
Under three hours from Sahar to the lagoon – which of the two daily non-stops you board decides whether a seaplane resort works on day one, and how much of a Mumbai long weekend you actually spend on the beach.
From Mumbai the Maldives is about as far in flying time as Srinagar. Two IndiGo non-stops leave Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport every day, one before dawn and one after lunch, and each takes a little under three hours. Indian passports get a free visa on arrival. For couples in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai that turns the Maldives into a realistic Friday-to-Monday break, and into the obvious honeymoon after the November-to-February wedding season.
The catch is the transfer at the other end. Seaplanes fly only in daylight, and the afternoon flight lands too late for them. This page is built around that one fact: package costs per person, the two Mumbai departures and what each allows, a clear seaplane-or-speedboat decision for Mumbai travellers, three itineraries (a long weekend, a post-wedding honeymoon and a family trip), how Mumbai's monsoon and the Maldives' wet season overlap, entry rules and taxes as of November 2026, the 2026–27 Maharashtra holiday calendar and notes on Gujarati, Jain and Maharashtrian food at resorts. Your trip is planned by our team in Ahmedabad and booked on WhatsApp or phone; we have no Mumbai office.

Maldives package cost from Mumbai (2026–27)
There are 16 Maldives packages on sale today, from ₹18,000 per person. These per-person ranges assume two sharing and leave out the Mumbai–Malé airfare. Each includes the room, meal plan, return transfer from Velana airport, green tax, 17% TGST and service charge.
| Trip | Standard (4-star, speedboat, half board) | Deluxe (5-star, beach + water villa, all-inclusive) | Premium (5-star seaplane resort, water villa) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 nights – long weekend | ₹55,000 – 80,000 | ₹98,000 – 1,55,000 | ₹1,55,000 – 2,40,000 |
| 4 nights – honeymoon split stay | ₹70,000 – 1,00,000 | ₹1,25,000 – 2,05,000 | ₹2,05,000 – 3,20,000 |
| 5 nights – family or slow honeymoon | ₹85,000 – 1,20,000 | ₹1,50,000 – 2,50,000 | ₹2,50,000 – 4,00,000 |
A local-island stay on Maafushi or Thulusdhoo with breakfast and a shared speedboat costs far less, roughly ₹21,000 – 46,000 for three to five nights; our Maldives budget guide covers it line by line. Seaplane transfers alone often cost about US$500 – 900 per person return, which is why the premium column jumps.
Airfare from Mumbai: as of November 2026, a return economy ticket on the IndiGo non-stop usually costs about ₹24,000 – 38,000 per person when booked six to eight weeks ahead, with a checked bag. The Diwali vacation, Christmas–New Year and the May holidays often push it to ₹40,000 – 55,000. The early-morning flight is sometimes dearer than the afternoon one because seaplane guests want it. The US$50 departure fee is inside the ticket.
Paid at the resort: sunset dolphin cruise (about US$60 – 90 a head), snorkelling trip (US$50 – 80), sandbank picnic (US$150 – 300 for two), spa, and drinks outside your plan – each with about 28% in service charge and TGST added.
The two Mumbai non-stops and what each one allows
The Maldives is 30 minutes behind India. As of November 2026 IndiGo is the only airline flying Mumbai–Malé non-stop, about 14 flights a week; timings below are those on sale for the season and can shift, so we confirm them on your dates.
| Flight | Leaves / lands | Transfer that works | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Early morning, Mumbai – Malé | About 5.50 am from BOM, about 8.15 am in Malé | Seaplane, speedboat or domestic flight – all on the same morning | Seaplane resorts, honeymoons, anyone who wants a full first day |
| Afternoon, Mumbai – Malé | About 1.45 pm from BOM, about 4.05 pm in Malé | Speedboat resorts in North and South Malé Atoll; seaplane only after a night in Hulhumalé | Families with children who should not wake at 2 am; budget stays |
| Morning, Malé – Mumbai | About 9.15 am from Malé, about 12.45 pm in Mumbai | Speedboat resorts close to the airport | Getting back for a Monday afternoon at work |
| Evening, Malé – Mumbai | About 5.45 pm from Malé, about 9.15 pm in Mumbai | Any resort, including seaplane ones | A full last day; the usual choice after a seaplane stay |
Getting to Sahar for a 5.50 am departure
- All international flights leave from CSMIA Terminal 2. The Malé non-stops we found all operate from there; none from Navi Mumbai International Airport as of November 2026.
- Be at T2 by about 3 am. Leave Andheri or Bandra around 2.30 am, Colaba or Worli around 2 am, Thane, Mulund or Borivali around 1.45 am, and Vashi or Panvel a little earlier. At that hour roads are empty, but Metro Line 3 is not running, so book a cab.
- For the afternoon flight, the Aqua Line's T2 station is a fair option from south Mumbai or BKC with cabin bags; with large suitcases a car is easier.
- Outside the monsoon, the early slot is the better buy for most couples. In June to September, heavy rain in Mumbai can disrupt early-morning departures, which is one more reason to keep seaplane resorts for the dry season.
Seaplane or speedboat: the decision for Mumbai travellers
The best-known Maldives resorts are spread across atolls 30 – 60 minutes away by seaplane; the closest ones are 20 – 50 minutes by speedboat from the airport jetty. With only two flights from Mumbai, the choice is mostly about time.
- Three nights or fewer: choose a speedboat resort. You keep both flight choices, nothing depends on daylight, and you are on the beach within two hours of landing. On a long weekend, the hours a seaplane uses up cost more than the view is worth.
- Four nights or more on the early flight: a seaplane resort makes sense. You land by 8.15 am, the seaplane lounge processes you in an hour or two, and you reach a far atoll by lunch. Fly home on the evening flight.
- Afternoon flight and a seaplane resort: possible only with a first night in Hulhumalé, next to the airport. It adds a hotel night but makes the second morning relaxed.
- Domestic flight plus boat: some atolls in the south and north use a short domestic flight and then a boat. These run into the evening and can rescue an afternoon arrival; we tell you which resorts allow it.
- Baggage: seaplanes usually allow about 20 kg checked and 5 kg in hand per person. Post-wedding suitcases full of outfits often exceed it, and excess is charged by the kilo.
Three Maldives itineraries from Mumbai
3 nights / 4 days – Friday-to-Monday long weekend (speedboat resort)
- Friday: 5.50 am flight; land about 8.15 am, speedboat of 25 – 45 minutes to a South Malé Atoll resort. Breakfast on arrival, beach villa by noon, house-reef snorkelling in the afternoon.
- Saturday: Morning snorkelling trip to a turtle reef; spa; dinner on the sand.
- Sunday: Sandbank or dolphin cruise; free afternoon.
- Monday: Speedboat to Malé after lunch, 5.45 pm flight, home in Mumbai by about 10 pm. Leave needed: Friday and Monday, or Monday only on a holiday weekend.
5 nights / 6 days – honeymoon after the wedding season (seaplane resort)
- Day 1: Early flight; seaplane to a Baa, Raa or Lhaviyani Atoll resort by lunchtime. Beach villa with honeymoon decoration.
- Day 2: House reef, couple's spa, a quiet day after weeks of functions.
- Day 3: Move to a water villa; snorkelling safari with mantas or reef sharks, depending on the atoll and season.
- Day 4: Floating breakfast, sunset cruise, private dinner on the jetty.
- Day 5: A photographer at golden hour, or a seaplane-view excursion over the atoll.
- Day 6: Late-morning seaplane back to Malé and the 5.45 pm flight home.
Carry the marriage certificate; resorts usually give honeymoon benefits only within six to twelve months of the wedding. Mumbai couples who marry in December often travel in late January, after New Year rates fall.
4 nights / 5 days – family trip in the May holidays (afternoon flight)
- Day 1: Leave home after breakfast, 1.45 pm flight; speedboat to a family resort in North Malé Atoll with a kids' club and shallow lagoon. Dinner and early night.
- Days 2 – 3: Lagoon swimming, kayaks and paddle-boards, a glass-bottom boat ride, kids' club in the afternoons while parents rest.
- Day 4: Half-day trip to a local island to see a Maldivian school, mosque and village shops; beach cinema in the evening where the resort offers it.
- Day 5: 9.15 am flight; home in Mumbai by lunch.
Every trip is private and customised; cousins or friends from the same building travel as a private group on their own dates, and we book their villas together.
Mumbai's monsoon and the Maldives' wet season
Both are driven by the same south-west monsoon, so a Mumbai traveller should know how they differ.
- Timing: the Maldives' wet season runs roughly May to October, while Mumbai's heavy rain is concentrated from mid-June to September. The Maldives rarely gets Mumbai-style days of non-stop downpour; rain usually comes in bursts with sun between.
- Price: resort rates fall by about 30 – 40% in these months, and water villas that are out of reach in February become affordable.
- The risk is at home: on red-alert days in Mumbai, roads to Sahar flood and flights are delayed. In July and August we prefer the afternoon departure, speedboat resorts and a spare evening before work.
- October is the sweet spot: Mumbai's rains have ended, the Maldives is in its transition with many sunny days, and prices are still below the winter peak – except in Diwali week.
- Marine life: Baa Atoll's manta season peaks in the wet months, so the monsoon suits snorkellers who want mantas more than flat water.
Entry rules and taxes for Indians (as of November 2026)
- Visa on arrival: free, 30 days, for Indian passport holders. Carry a passport valid six months, confirmed bookings for every night, the return ticket and a card or cash to show funds if asked.
- IMUGA traveller declaration: one free online form per traveller, children included, within 96 hours before arrival. The departure declaration was discontinued in August 2024, so you do not file one to leave. We send you the official link.
- Green tax: US$12 per person per night at resorts; US$6 at guesthouses with 50 rooms or fewer on inhabited islands; children under two exempt.
- TGST: 17% since 1 July 2025, usually with a 10% service charge.
- Departure fee: US$50 in economy, collected in the air ticket.
- Customs: no alcohol, pork products or religious material for distribution. Spirits bought at BOM duty-free are held at Malé airport until you leave, so skip them on the way out.
Entry is decided by Maldives immigration, and we recheck the rules in the week you travel.
Maharashtra holidays and Mumbai long weekends (2026–27)

| Guru Nanak Jayanti | Tuesday 24 November 2026 | Take Monday off; pre-Christmas rates |
| Christmas | Friday 25 December 2026 | Three nights on the early flight; minimum stays and gala dinners from about 20 December |
| Republic Day | Tuesday 26 January 2027 | Four days with Monday's leave; calm, dry weather |
| Holi and Good Friday | Monday 22 March and Friday 26 March 2027 | Two long weekends in one week; three days of leave give nine days |
| Gudi Padwa | Wednesday 7 April 2027 | A midweek break in hot, calm lagoon weather |
| Maharashtra Day | Saturday 1 May 2027 | Falls inside the school summer break |
| Summer vacation | Early May to mid-June | Wet season begins; good-value family trips on a speedboat resort |
Ganeshotsav and Navratri bring their own long weekends, but many Mumbai families stay home for them. Private and international schools in Mumbai set their own Diwali and winter dates; send us the circular. Wedding-season honeymoons from November to February fill water villas eight to ten weeks ahead.

Gujarati, Jain and Maharashtrian food at Maldives resorts
- Indian corner: larger 4- and 5-star resorts near Malé keep dal, a paneer or vegetable curry, rice and rotis at most dinners, and many have Indian chefs. Ask in the morning and a kitchen will often make a dish you name.
- Jain meals: Mumbai has one of India's largest Jain communities, and we get this request often. Bigger resorts cook without onion, garlic or root vegetables with notice; we confirm it with the resort in writing before you pay and avoid small resorts with fish-heavy set menus.
- Gujarati and Maharashtrian tastes: poha or upma at breakfast and a simple varan-bhaat at dinner can be requested at resorts with Indian cooks. Carry thepla, khakhra, chakli or ladoos for the travel day and the first night.
- Drinks: served only on resort islands; Malé, Hulhumalé and local islands are dry. A drinks package is usually cheaper than paying by the glass.
- Money: resorts bill in US dollars and take cards; UPI does not work. Carry about US$100 – 200 per couple in small notes for tips.

How much does a Maldives tour package from Mumbai cost?
Our Maldives packages currently start at ₹18,000 per person for 2 nights. Most of our Maldives packages fall between ₹34,999 and ₹46,500 per person. The final cost depends on the travel month, hotel category, number of travellers and whether flights from Mumbai are added. Open any package below to see exactly what is included, or ask us for a quote with flights.
Which airlines fly non-stop from Mumbai to the Maldives?
As of November 2026, IndiGo is the only airline flying Mumbai–Malé non-stop, with two flights a day from CSMIA Terminal 2: one around 5.50 am and one around 1.45 pm, each about 2 hours 55 minutes. Other airlines connect through Colombo, Kochi or Bengaluru. We confirm the schedule for your dates before quoting.
Can we reach a seaplane resort on the day we fly from Mumbai?
Yes, on the early flight. It lands in Malé around 8.15 am, which leaves plenty of daylight for the seaplane. The afternoon flight lands around 4 pm, after most seaplanes have stopped for the day, so with that flight we book a speedboat resort or a first night in Hulhumalé.
Is a three-night Maldives trip from Mumbai worth it?
Yes, with a speedboat resort. Take the 5.50 am flight on Friday and the 5.45 pm flight home on Monday, and you get nearly three full days on the island for two days of leave. Keep seaplane resorts for trips of four nights or more, when the transfer time matters less.
How much is a return flight from Mumbai to Malé?
As of November 2026, a return economy ticket on the IndiGo non-stop usually costs about ₹24,000 to ₹38,000 per person when booked six to eight weeks ahead, including a checked bag. Diwali, Christmas–New Year and the May holidays raise it to roughly ₹40,000 to ₹55,000. The US$50 departure fee is already inside the fare.
What time should we leave home for the 5.50 am Malé flight?
Aim to reach Terminal 2 by about 3 am. That means leaving Andheri or Bandra around 2.30 am, south Mumbai around 2 am and Thane, Borivali or Navi Mumbai around 1.45 am. The Metro is not running then, so book a cab the evening before and keep passports and printed bookings in your hand bag.
Is the Maldives good during the Mumbai monsoon?
It can be good value. Resort rates drop by 30 to 40 percent from May to October, and Maldives rain usually comes in bursts rather than all day. The bigger risk is Mumbai itself, where heavy rain can delay flights and flood airport roads, so we suggest the afternoon flight, a speedboat resort and a spare evening before work.
Do Mumbai travellers need to fill IMUGA before leaving the Maldives?
No. The IMUGA traveller declaration is needed only for arrival: one free online form per person, children included, within 96 hours before you land. The departure declaration was discontinued in August 2024. Indian passport holders also get a free 30-day visa on arrival with a confirmed booking and return ticket.
Can Maldives resorts cook Jain food for families from Mumbai?
Larger resorts can, with advance notice: meals without onion, garlic or root vegetables, often by an Indian chef. We confirm the request with the resort in writing before you pay and avoid small resorts with fish-heavy set menus. Carry khakhra, thepla or other dry snacks for the travel day and as a backup.
When should Mumbai couples book a post-wedding Maldives honeymoon?
As soon as the wedding date is fixed. For December to February, water villas at popular resorts sell out eight to ten weeks ahead, and the early-morning Mumbai flight fills with seaplane guests. Many couples who marry in December travel in the last two weeks of January, when New Year rates have fallen.
Maldives or Andaman from Mumbai – which is better?
The Maldives is under three hours non-stop from Mumbai and gives a private resort island, all meals in one place and the clearest water, but needs a passport and costs more. The Andamans need no passport, cost less and add history and island hopping, with more ferries and moving around. Couples wanting complete rest usually pick the Maldives.
Do you have an office in Mumbai?
No. Vibrant Holidays is based in Ahmedabad, and our team plans Mumbai trips remotely on WhatsApp, phone or video call. You receive the quote and itinerary as a PDF, pay against an invoice by bank transfer or UPI, and get flight tickets and resort vouchers before departure. Our support line runs 24×7 during the trip.
