Vietnam has become the fastest-growing international request at our Ahmedabad office in the last three years, and it deserves it: a Halong Bay overnight cruise, the Golden Bridge at Ba Na Hills, the lantern streets of Hoi An and Phu Quoc's beaches cost about the same as a Thailand trip, hotels are excellent value, and the country is safe, friendly and still uncrowded by Indian standards. The two things Gujarati travellers worry about – the e-visa and vegetarian food – are both manageable with planning, and we explain both honestly below.
Vietnam is a long, thin country with three distinct regions and three different weather calendars, so the route matters more than anywhere else we sell. After the live packages you will find our 2026 price guide, flight options from Ahmedabad, a North vs Central vs South routing table, three day-wise itineraries, the e-visa walkthrough, a Vietnam vs Thailand vs Bali comparison, the month-by-month planner and twelve FAQs.
Vietnam tour package price guide (2026)
Vietnam packages on this page start at ₹21,999 per person. The land cost is among the lowest in Asia for the hotel quality you get – a good 4★ hotel in Hanoi or Da Nang costs what a 3★ costs in Singapore – and the main variables are the number of regions you cover (each adds an internal flight), the Halong Bay cruise category and whether Phu Quoc or Ba Na Hills tickets are included. Bands are per person on twin sharing, excluding international flights and e-visa, with private transfers, breakfast, internal flights where listed and the sightseeing days named.
| Trip | Standard (3★) | Deluxe (4★) | Premium (5★ / luxury cruise) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4N/5D Central: Da Nang – Hoi An – Ba Na Hills | ₹22,000 – 28,000 | ₹32,000 – 42,000 | ₹60,000+ |
| 5N/6D North: Hanoi – Halong Bay cruise – Ninh Binh | ₹26,000 – 33,000 | ₹38,000 – 50,000 | ₹70,000+ |
| 6N/7D South: Ho Chi Minh City – Mekong – Phu Quoc | ₹30,000 – 38,000 | ₹42,000 – 56,000 | ₹80,000+ |
| 7N/8D North + Central (Hanoi, Halong, Da Nang, Hoi An) | ₹38,000 – 48,000 | ₹55,000 – 70,000 | ₹1,00,000+ |
| 9N/10D grand Vietnam (all three regions) | ₹50,000 – 62,000 | ₹70,000 – 90,000 | ₹1,30,000+ |
Add for flights: Ahmedabad to Hanoi, Da Nang or Ho Chi Minh City return fares are usually ₹22,000 – 34,000 per person when booked 6–8 weeks ahead – nonstop when the direct service is operating, otherwise one stop via Bangkok, Kolkata, Delhi or Mumbai. Internal Vietnam flights (Hanoi–Da Nang about 1 h 20 min, Da Nang–HCMC 1 h 30 min) cost ₹3,000 – 6,000 each and are included where the itinerary needs them. Usually extra on the ground: the e-visa (billed at cost), Ba Na Hills cable car and park ticket unless named, Hoi An basket-boat and lantern-boat rides, Cu Chi tunnels, Vinpearl or Sun World Phu Quoc tickets, Hoa Lu – Tam Coc boat rides, tips for the cruise crew and drivers, and meals not listed.
How to reach Vietnam from Ahmedabad
- Direct from Ahmedabad: Vietnamese low-cost carriers have operated nonstop flights from Ahmedabad to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in recent seasons, taking about 5 h to 5 h 30 min. Schedules change by season, so we never promise a particular airline; we check what is flying on your dates and quote the direct service when it exists.
- One-stop options: via Bangkok (the most frequent connection, with Bangkok–Hanoi or Bangkok–Da Nang about 1 h 50 min), via Kolkata, Delhi or Mumbai on Indian carriers, or via Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. Total journey 8–11 hours. For Central Vietnam we often fly you directly into Da Nang via Bangkok to avoid an internal flight.
- Open-jaw tickets: for North + Central or grand Vietnam routes we fly you into Hanoi and out of Da Nang or Ho Chi Minh City so there is no backtracking – a standard practice that many online packages ignore.
- Time zone: Vietnam is 1 h 30 min ahead of India; an overnight flight lands in the morning with a full day ahead.
- Getting around: packages include private air-conditioned cars with drivers and English-speaking guides on sightseeing days. Hanoi to Halong Bay is about 2½ hours on an expressway; Hanoi to Ninh Binh about 2 hours; Da Nang to Hoi An 45 minutes; Da Nang to Hue about 2½ hours over the Hai Van pass. Grab taxis work well in all three cities for free time.
North, Central or South – choosing your Vietnam route
Most online packages hide the fact that Vietnam's three regions have different weather in the same month. This table is the decision we walk every client through.
| North – Hanoi, Halong Bay, Ninh Binh, Sapa | Central – Da Nang, Hoi An, Ba Na Hills, Hue | South – Ho Chi Minh City, Mekong Delta, Phu Quoc | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Highlights | Halong Bay overnight cruise, Old Quarter, Tam Coc boat ride, Train Street, Sapa rice terraces | Golden Bridge, Hoi An lanterns, My Khe beach, Marble Mountains, Hue citadel | War Remnants Museum, Cu Chi tunnels, Mekong boats, Phu Quoc beaches and cable car |
| Best months | October – April (cool, dry; December–January can be chilly and misty in Halong) | February – August (dry, sunny; September–November is typhoon and flood season) | December – April (dry); May–October is rainy but short showers |
| Nights needed | 4–5 | 4–5 | 4–6 (with Phu Quoc) |
| Best for | Culture and scenery lovers, first-timers, families | Honeymooners, families with children, beach plus culture in one place | Beach honeymoons (Phu Quoc), history, second visits |
| Indian food | Good in Hanoi Old Quarter; none on Halong cruise (vegetarian menu arranged) | Good in Da Nang; a few in Hoi An | Very good in HCMC District 1; limited in Phu Quoc |
| Land cost (4★, per person) | ₹38,000 – 50,000 (5N) | ₹32,000 – 42,000 (4N) | ₹42,000 – 56,000 (6N) |
For a first trip of 7–8 nights we usually combine North and Central (Hanoi – Halong – Da Nang – Hoi An) between February and April, when both regions are dry. For a December honeymoon we suggest Central + Phu Quoc. For a May vacation, Central Vietnam alone is the safest weather bet.

- Day 6: Free beach day; couples' spa; candle-light dinner at the resort.
- Day 7: Fly Phu Quoc – Ho Chi Minh City – Ahmedabad.
7 nights / 8 days – North + Central complete Vietnam
Two nights Hanoi, one night on a Halong Bay cruise, one night back in Hanoi or Ninh Binh, then a morning flight to Da Nang for three nights covering Ba Na Hills, Hoi An and a free beach day, flying home from Da Nang. With nine nights we add Hue (citadel, royal tombs, the Hai Van pass drive) or Sapa in the north. This is the route we recommend for extended families and friend groups who want the full picture; they travel together as a private group on their own dates with their own vehicle and guide.
Senior citizens
Vietnam works for fit seniors with some adjustments: we choose a Halong cruise with cabins on the lower deck and skip the kayaking, use the Ba Na Hills cable car (no climbing) but avoid the park rides, replace the Ninh Binh day with a Hanoi rest day if needed, and book hotels with lifts in the Old Quarter where many budget hotels do not have them. Hoi An's old town is flat and pedestrian-only – ideal for an evening stroll.
Vietnam e-visa for Indians, Halong cruise tiers and how Vietnam compares
Vietnam e-visa – step by step
- Who needs it: all Indian passport holders. Vietnam's e-visa for Indians allows stays of up to 90 days with single or multiple entry, which is more than any Southeast Asian neighbour.
- Documents: a passport valid six months with a clear colour scan of the data page, a passport-size photo on white background, your entry date, port of entry (Hanoi, Da Nang or Ho Chi Minh City airport – it must match your ticket) and a hotel address, which comes from your package.
- Timeline: the official processing time is three working days, but we recommend applying two to three weeks before travel, because the system can be slow in peak season and corrections are not possible once submitted. We prepare and submit the application for you; approval is at the discretion of the Vietnamese immigration department.
- Cost: the official fee is modest – roughly ₹2,200 – 2,600 for single entry at recent exchange rates – and we bill it at cost. Beware of look-alike websites charging five times more.
- On arrival: carry a printed copy of the e-visa approval and your return ticket; immigration is usually 20–40 minutes. Checking the spelling of your name against the passport before submission is the single most important step – a mismatch means a new application.
Halong Bay cruise – what the categories mean
- Day cruise (6–8 hours): the cheapest option; fine for seniors or very tight schedules, but you miss the sunset and sunrise, which are the point.
- Overnight 3★ cruise: a wooden junk or small steel boat, 15–25 cabins, en-suite rooms with a window, kayaking and a cave visit included; about ₹7,000 – 10,000 per person including meals.
- Overnight 4★–5★ cruise: larger steel ships with balcony cabins, a sundeck pool or jacuzzi, better food and a less crowded route in Lan Ha Bay; about ₹12,000 – 22,000 per person. This is what we book for honeymooners.
- Food on board: cruises serve set menus; pure-vegetarian menus are arranged when we book, and a Jain menu is possible on most 4★–5★ boats with notice. Our packages state the vegetarian arrangement in writing.
Vietnam vs Thailand vs Bali – a quick comparison
| Vietnam | Thailand | Bali | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flight from Ahmedabad | About 5½ h nonstop when operating; otherwise one stop, 8–11 h | 4½ h nonstop to Bangkok | No nonstop; 9–11 h via Singapore or KL |
| Visa | E-visa, we apply, about 3 working days | Currently visa-free for Indians (we confirm) | Visa on arrival plus tourist levy |
| 6-night land cost (4★, pp) | ₹42,000 – 56,000 | ₹44,000 – 58,000 | ₹36,000 – 48,000 |
| Indian / Jain food | Good in the three big cities; plan ahead elsewhere | Excellent everywhere on the circuit | Good in the south; limited in Ubud |
| Honeymoon score | High – Hoi An, Phu Quoc, Halong cruise | High – Phuket, Krabi | Highest – private pool villas |
| Family with children | Good – Ba Na Hills, Vinpearl, cruise | Best – Safari World, Coral Island, water parks | Good – Waterbom, Safari Park |
| Crowds from India | Growing, still moderate | Very high | High |
Best time to visit Vietnam – month by month
| Months | North (Hanoi, Halong) | Central (Da Nang, Hoi An) | South (HCMC, Phu Quoc) | Good for / prices |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| December – February | Cool 12–20°C, misty; Halong can be grey | Cool, some drizzle in Jan–Feb | Dry, 25–32°C – best beach months | Christmas and New Year peak; Phu Quoc honeymoons; Tet (Vietnamese New Year, usually late Jan or Feb) closes many shops for a week – prices highest |
| March – April | Pleasant, 20–28°C, clearing skies | Warm and dry – ideal | Hot and dry | The best all-round months for a North + Central trip; moderate prices |
| May – June | Hot, 30–35°C, humid; occasional storms | Hot and sunny, best sea | Rainy season begins; short afternoon showers | Gujarat May vacation – choose Central Vietnam; good hotel deals |
| July – August | Hottest and wettest in the north | Dry and hot | Rainy | Central only; lowest prices in north and south |
| September – November | Cooling, dry by October – excellent | Typhoon and flood season, especially Oct–Nov; Hoi An can flood | Rain easing by November | Navratri-to-Diwali trips should go North (Hanoi, Halong, Sapa); avoid Central in October–November |
For Ahmedabad families the practical summary is: Diwali (usually October or November) – go North; Christmas – go Central + South; May vacation – go Central. We never send a Diwali trip to Hoi An without saying so first.
Places to visit in Vietnam
- Halong Bay and Lan Ha Bay: 1,600 limestone islands and an overnight cruise – the image of Vietnam, and the night every traveller remembers.
- Hanoi: the Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem lake, Train Street cafés, the Temple of Literature, water-puppet theatre and the best Indian restaurants in the north.
- Ninh Binh (Tam Coc, Trang An): "Halong Bay on land" – a rowing-boat ride between karst cliffs and rice fields; the Mua Cave viewpoint is a 500-step climb.
- Sapa: terraced rice fields and hill-tribe villages in the far north, with the Fansipan cable car to Indochina's highest peak; add two nights from Hanoi.
- Da Nang: My Khe beach, the Dragon Bridge (fire show on weekend nights), Marble Mountains and Lady Buddha at Son Tra.
- Ba Na Hills: the Golden Bridge held by two giant stone hands, a French hill village and a theme park, reached by one of the world's longest cable cars.
- Hoi An: a UNESCO old town of lantern-lit streets, the Japanese Covered Bridge, tailors, the Thu Bon river boats and the coconut-forest basket boats.
- Hue: the Imperial Citadel, royal tombs and the Perfume River, reached from Da Nang over the Hai Van pass.
- Ho Chi Minh City: Notre-Dame cathedral and the Central Post Office, Ben Thanh market, the War Remnants Museum, Bui Vien walking street and rooftop bars.
- Cu Chi tunnels and the Mekong Delta: wartime tunnels an hour from the city and a day of boats, floating markets and fruit orchards in the delta.
- Phu Quoc: Long Beach and Sao Beach, the Hon Thom over-sea cable car, Sunset Town and the Kiss Bridge show, VinWonders and the night market – Vietnam's honeymoon island.
- Da Lat and Nha Trang: a cool hill town of flowers and waterfalls, and a lively beach city with Vinpearl island – second-visit additions in the south.
Food, hotels and tips for Gujarati travellers
- Pure-veg and Jain food – the honest picture: Hanoi's Old Quarter has eight to ten Indian restaurants, several run by Indian owners, serving thali, North Indian and South Indian food; Da Nang has a similar cluster near My Khe beach, Hoi An has two or three, and Ho Chi Minh City's District 1 has more than a dozen. Phu Quoc, Ninh Binh and Sapa have one or two at most, so we pre-arrange vegetarian meals with the hotel. Vietnamese cuisine has a strong Buddhist vegetarian tradition – look for "chay" (vegetarian) restaurants, which exist in every town, serving tofu, mushroom and vegetable dishes, vegetarian pho and spring rolls. Jain food (no onion, garlic or root vegetables) is realistic only at Indian restaurants and hotels with notice; we tell Jain travellers plainly which days will rely on hotel-cooked meals and carry-along snacks, and we confirm every arranged meal in writing.
- Hotel categories: Vietnam's 4★ hotels are exceptional value – a modern room with breakfast for ₹3,500 – 6,000 a night in Hanoi or Da Nang. In Hanoi stay in or beside the Old Quarter; in Da Nang choose the My Khe beachfront; in Hoi An a boutique hotel within walking distance of the old town; in Phu Quoc a resort on Long Beach or Ong Lang for sunsets.
- Money: the Vietnamese dong has many zeros – ₹1 is roughly 290–310 dong in recent years, so ₹1,000 is about 300,000 VND. Carry a forex card and withdraw dong from bank ATMs; small shops, markets and boat rides are cash-only. US dollars are accepted at some hotels. Count zeros carefully on notes – the 20,000 and 500,000 notes look similar.
- Pack: a jacket for Hanoi and Sapa from December to February, a rain jacket in any month, comfortable shoes (Hoi An and the Old Quarter are walked), swimwear, insect repellent for the Mekong and Ninh Binh, and a scarf for temples and the mausoleum (knees and shoulders covered).
- Traffic and safety: Vietnam is very safe for tourists; the real hazard is crossing roads full of scooters – walk steadily and predictably, and the traffic flows around you. Keep phones and bags away from the road edge in Ho Chi Minh City. Do not drink tap water.
- Timings: the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum opens mornings only and is closed on Mondays and Fridays; Halong cruises board around noon and dock around 11 am the next day; Ba Na Hills needs a full day and the Golden Bridge is least crowded before 9 am; Hoi An's lanterns are lit from dusk and the old town is car-free in the evening.
- Connectivity: a Vietnamese tourist SIM with generous data costs about ₹400 – 700 at the airport; WiFi is free and fast almost everywhere.

Vietnam tour packages – frequently asked questions
How much does a Vietnam tour package cost from Ahmedabad?
Vietnam packages on this page start at ₹21,999 per person. A 5-night North Vietnam package with 4★ hotels, a Halong Bay overnight cruise and Ninh Binh costs ₹38,000–50,000 per person excluding international flights and e-visa; a 4-night Da Nang–Hoi An–Ba Na Hills trip is ₹32,000–42,000. Return flights from Ahmedabad add ₹22,000–34,000.
Is there a direct flight from Ahmedabad to Vietnam?
Nonstop flights from Ahmedabad to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have operated in recent seasons, taking about 5–5½ hours, but schedules change, so we check your dates rather than promise an airline. Otherwise, one-stop connections via Bangkok, Kolkata, Delhi or Mumbai take 8–11 hours; for Central Vietnam we fly you into Da Nang via Bangkok.
How do Indians get a Vietnam visa?
Indian passport holders need an e-visa, valid for up to 90 days. We prepare and submit the application with your passport scan, photo, entry date, airport of entry and hotel address; approval is at the discretion of Vietnamese immigration and normally takes about three working days. We apply two to three weeks ahead and bill the fee – roughly ₹2,200–2,600 – at cost.
North Vietnam or Central Vietnam – which should I choose?
North (Hanoi, Halong Bay, Ninh Binh) for scenery, culture and the cruise, best from October to April. Central (Da Nang, Hoi An, Ba Na Hills) for beach plus culture with the Golden Bridge and lanterns, best from February to August. With 7–8 nights, do both between February and April when both regions are dry.
How many days are enough for Vietnam?
Four to five nights covers one region well – Central for a honeymoon, North for a first culture trip. Seven to eight nights lets you combine North and Central with one internal flight. Nine to ten nights covers all three regions including Phu Quoc. Less than four nights is not worth the flight time.
Is pure-vegetarian and Jain food available in Vietnam?
Vegetarian food is easy – every town has Buddhist "chay" restaurants, and Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City each have eight or more Indian restaurants. Jain food is realistic only at Indian restaurants and hotels with notice, so for Phu Quoc, Ninh Binh and the Halong cruise we pre-arrange meals and confirm them in writing. We tell you honestly which days need planning.
Is the Halong Bay cruise included and which one should I take?
Our North Vietnam packages include a one-night cruise, with the category shown: 3★ junks cost about ₹7,000–10,000 per person and 4★–5★ steel ships with balcony cabins ₹12,000–22,000. Honeymooners should take the 4★–5★ Lan Ha Bay route for fewer boats; seniors who prefer a hotel bed can switch to a day cruise.
Which is the best month to visit Vietnam?
March and April are the best all-round months, with dry weather in the North and Central regions. October–November is excellent for Hanoi and Halong but is typhoon season in Da Nang and Hoi An. December–February is the best time for Phu Quoc and the south. For the May vacation choose Central Vietnam, which is dry and sunny.
Is Vietnam cheaper than Thailand or Bali?
On the ground, Vietnam is similar to Thailand and slightly dearer than Bali for comparable hotels, but hotel quality per rupee is the best of the three – a 4★ room costs ₹3,500–6,000 a night. Flights from Ahmedabad are comparable to Thailand when the nonstop operates. Vietnam's advantage is value and fewer crowds rather than a rock-bottom price.
Is Vietnam good for a honeymoon?
Yes – Hoi An's lantern streets, a balcony cabin on a Halong cruise and Phu Quoc's beach resorts make a strong honeymoon at a mid-range budget. Our 6-night Central + Phu Quoc itinerary with 4★ resorts costs ₹42,000–56,000 per person plus flights and e-visa, with décor, a candle-light dinner and a couples' spa added on request.
What is usually not included in a Vietnam package?
International flights unless added, the e-visa (billed at cost), Ba Na Hills and Sun World Phu Quoc tickets unless named, Hoi An basket-boat and lantern-boat rides, Cu Chi tunnels, meals not listed, tips for cruise crew, guides and drivers, travel insurance and 5% GST. Every quote lists inclusions and exclusions side by side.
Is Vietnam safe for families, senior citizens and women travellers?
Vietnam is one of the safest countries in Asia for tourists, with very low violent crime and a welcoming attitude to Indian visitors. The main hazard is crossing scooter-filled roads – walk steadily. For seniors we choose hotels with lifts, a lower-deck cruise cabin and the Ba Na cable car without park rides; Hoi An and Da Nang are especially easy.
Do Indians need a visa for Vietnam, and how does the e-visa work?
Yes. Indian passport holders apply for a Vietnam e-visa online before travel – single entry USD 25 or multiple entry USD 50, valid for up to 90 days. We prepare and submit the application on the official immigration portal with your passport scan and photo; it normally takes 3–7 working days and approval is at the immigration department's discretion. The entry airport on the e-visa must match where you land.
Which part of Vietnam should we choose – North, Central or South?
North for the Ha Long Bay cruise, Hanoi culture and Ninh Binh scenery – best from October to April and ideal for Diwali. Central for the Golden Bridge, Hoi An lanterns and beaches – best from February to August and ideal for the May vacation. South for Ho Chi Minh City, the Mekong and Phu Quoc beaches – best from November to April. With seven or more nights, combine two.
Is Vietnam safe and suitable for families and senior citizens?
Yes. Vietnam has low crime, friendly people and good roads between the main sights. For seniors we choose a day cruise or a deluxe boat with few stairs, keep Hanoi walking short, use the Ba Na Hills cable car rather than treks, and avoid the Hang Mua steps. Families love Ba Na Hills, the cruise, basket boats in Hoi An and VinWonders on Phu Quoc. Watch traffic when crossing roads in Hanoi.
How much cash should I carry to Vietnam?
About VND 2,000,000–3,000,000 (₹7,000–10,000) per couple for markets, boat tips, street cafés and small entry fees, plus a forex card or credit card for hotels, restaurants and shopping. Exchange at banks or Old Quarter gold shops rather than the airport, and count the zeros – the 20,000 and 500,000 notes look similar. US dollars are accepted as a backup.
