Manali Tour Packages from Mumbai
From sea-level humidity to snow underfoot in a day and a half – Manali planned for Mumbai families, with the right airport, the right month for snow and a packing list for people who own one sweater.
For many Mumbai families, Manali is where the children see snow for the first time. It is also a trip that needs more planning from Mumbai than from almost anywhere else in India. Manali has no railway and its nearest airport at Bhuntar takes only small aircraft, so getting there from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International or the new Navi Mumbai airport always means a flight plus a long road leg. Get that part right and the rest is easy: a valley town at about 2,050 m on the Beas river, Solang Valley 14 km up the road, and the Atal Tunnel to Sissu, where snow lingers well into spring.
This page is written for travellers starting from Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai. It compares the three realistic ways in – via Chandigarh, via Kullu–Bhuntar and via Delhi with an overnight Volvo – then gives per-person price bands, three day-wise itineraries, a plan for the Maharashtra summer and Diwali vacations, a month-by-month snow guide and a cold-weather packing list for people used to 30°C in January. Your trip is planned by our team in Ahmedabad and booked on WhatsApp or phone. The packages shown here carry live prices.

How much a Manali trip from Mumbai costs (2026)
Our Himachal and Manali packages start at ₹12,000 per person, with 24 live today. The bands below are indicative ranges per person on twin sharing, excluding flights from Mumbai. They include hotels with breakfast and dinner, a private cab from the arrival airport and back, and local sightseeing by the same cab in Manali.
| Trip | Standard (3★) | Deluxe (4★) | Premium (5★ / luxury cottages) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 nights Manali, Chandigarh pick-up and drop | ₹14,500 – 19,000 | ₹21,000 – 27,500 | ₹34,000 – 52,000 |
| 5 nights Manali with Sissu and Kasol, Chandigarh in/out | ₹17,500 – 23,000 | ₹25,000 – 33,000 | ₹41,000 – 63,000 |
| 6 nights Shimla and Manali, Chandigarh in/out | ₹20,500 – 27,000 | ₹29,500 – 39,000 | ₹48,000 – 74,000 |
| 7 nights Manali, Dharamshala and Dalhousie | ₹24,000 – 31,500 | ₹34,000 – 45,000 | ₹56,000 – 86,000 |
Flights from Mumbai: a Mumbai–Chandigarh return usually costs ₹9,000 – 16,000 per person booked five to six weeks ahead, and Mumbai–Delhi return about ₹7,000 – 13,000. Adding a Delhi–Kullu sector costs another ₹9,000 – 20,000 return because seats are few. In the May vacation, Diwali week and the Christmas fortnight, expect fares 40–70% higher. The cab prices in the table assume four people; couples pay a little more per head for the same car.
Paid on the spot: snow suits and boots on hire (about ₹300 – 500 a set), the Solang ropeway and snow activities (skiing lessons, snow scooters, tube rides), paragliding at Solang or Dobhi, river rafting near Kullu in season, the Rohtang permit and local taxi when the pass is open, lunches and tips. The quote lists them so that nothing comes as a surprise in the cold.
What drives the price up: the last ten days of December, the first fortnight of June and Diwali week. A deluxe hotel that costs ₹4,500 a night in March can ask ₹11,000 on 30 December. Mid-January to February gives the most snow for the money.
Getting to Manali from Mumbai: three routes compared
| Route | Flying time | Road leg | Door to door | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mumbai → Chandigarh (IXC) by air, then cab | About 2¼–2¾ h non-stop | About 300 km, 7–8 h | 11–13 h | Our default; reliable and fairly priced |
| Mumbai → Delhi → Kullu–Bhuntar (KUU), then cab | 2–2¼ h + about 1¼ h | 50 km, 1½ h | 8–11 h including the Delhi layover | Fastest on a clear day; expensive and weather-dependent |
| Mumbai → Delhi by air or Rajdhani, then overnight Volvo | About 2–2¼ h (or 15–16 h by train) | 12–14 h by bus | A full day and a night | Cheapest; tiring for children and seniors |
Via Chandigarh (recommended for most families)
As of October 2026, IndiGo and Air India fly non-stop from Mumbai (BOM) to Chandigarh several times a day, and IndiGo also flies from Navi Mumbai (NMI) on some days of the week. Take a morning flight: you land around midday, our driver meets you at the terminal, and you reach Manali by about 8–9 pm via the four-lane highway to Mandi and the Kullu valley road. On the way home, leave Manali early to catch an evening flight out of Chandigarh. Families with young children can break the drive with a night in Mandi or Kullu.
Via Delhi and Kullu–Bhuntar
There are no non-stop flights from Mumbai to Bhuntar. Alliance Air flies Delhi–Kullu on small turboprop aircraft, and the runway sits in a narrow valley, so flights are cancelled when cloud is low and baggage allowances are tight. Allow at least three to four hours between your Mumbai–Delhi arrival and the Kullu departure, and travel only with soft bags. When it works, you are in Manali by lunch; we always keep a road plan from Chandigarh in reserve.
Via Delhi and the overnight Volvo
Fly into Delhi (or take a Rajdhani from Mumbai Central or CSMT), spend the day in the city, and board an HRTC or private Volvo in the evening from Kashmere Gate or Majnu ka Tilla to arrive in Manali the next morning. It suits young friends' groups on a budget. For families, the combination of a flight, a day in Delhi and 12–14 hours on a bus is a lot, and we usually suggest Chandigarh instead.
Best days to fly: Tuesday to Thursday departures from Mumbai are the cheapest and give you quieter weekdays at Solang before weekend crowds from Delhi and Punjab arrive.

- Day 7: Drive to Chandigarh and fly home.
4 nights / 5 days – honeymoon via Kullu–Bhuntar
- Day 1: Early flight Mumbai–Delhi, connect to Kullu; driver to Manali; cottage with a fireplace.
- Day 2: Solang Valley and a paragliding flight in clear weather.
- Day 3: Sissu and the Atal Tunnel; candle-light dinner.
- Day 4: Jogini Falls walk from Vashisht, cafés in Old Manali.

Every itinerary is private: your own cab and driver, your own pace, and extended families travelling as a private group on their own dates in a Tempo Traveller or two cars.
Maharashtra school holidays and the hunt for snow
Mumbai families tend to travel in two windows, and they offer very different Manalis.
- Diwali vacation (October–November, about two to three weeks in Maharashtra schools): clear blue skies, crisp nights around 0–5°C and golden apple orchards, but usually no snow in Manali town. Snow is possible at Rohtang and sometimes at Sissu by November. Good for sightseeing, poor for a guaranteed snowfight.
- Christmas break (late December): the best chance of snow in Manali itself and at Solang, along with the highest prices and traffic jams on the Solang road. Book by October.
- January and February weekends with Republic Day: deep snow at Solang and Sissu, occasional road closures after fresh snowfall, the coldest nights (down to –5°C). The real "first snow" window.
- Summer vacation (May to mid-June): the most popular time for Mumbai families. Manali is 15–25°C, ideal for escaping the pre-monsoon heat at home. Snow survives only at Rohtang and higher, and the Rohtang road reopens around mid-May to early June depending on the year.
- Mumbai monsoon months (July to September): avoid. Himachal gets heavy rain and landslides in July and August, and the Chandigarh–Manali highway can be closed for days.
| Month | Manali weather | Snow chances | For Mumbai travellers |
|---|---|---|---|
| January | –5 to 10°C | High in town, Solang and Sissu | First snow; pack properly |
| February | –3 to 12°C | High at Solang and Sissu | Best snow for money |
| March | 2 to 16°C | Melting in town, good at Sissu | Holi break, quieter roads |
| April | 6 to 20°C | Only high up | Couples; apple blossom |
| May | 10 to 25°C | Rohtang once reopened | Maharashtra summer vacation; busy |
| June | 12 to 27°C | Rohtang | First half only; high prices |
| July – August | Wet, landslides | None | Avoid |
| September | Clearing, 10 to 22°C | None | Value month, quiet |
| October | 4 to 18°C, clear | Rohtang possible late | Diwali vacation sightseeing |
| November | 0 to 15°C | Sissu and Rohtang possible | Diwali vacation, apple season ending |
| December | –3 to 10°C | Good chance from mid-month | Christmas; book early |
Snow is weather, not a schedule. We watch forecasts in the week before your trip and move the Sissu or Solang day to the clearest date. Rules on Rohtang permits and vehicle access are as of October 2026 and change; we check them before you book.
Packing, food and acclimatising for Mumbaikars
Packing for real cold
- Layers: thermal inners, a fleece or sweater, and a proper padded jacket from December to February. Mumbai "winter" wear is not enough – Decathlon, the Lokhandwala and Linking Road shops or a rental in Manali all work.
- Feet and hands: waterproof shoes with grip, woollen socks, gloves and a cap. Snow boots and suits for Solang can be hired on the spot.
- Skin: moisturiser, lip balm and sunscreen; mountain sun and dry air burn and crack skin fast.
- Medicines: motion-sickness tablets for the hill roads, and anything prescribed. Manali is at about 2,050 m and Rohtang near 4,000 m; anyone with heart or breathing problems should speak to their doctor first.
Food
- Vegetarian and Jain: easy in Manali. Mall Road has many pure-veg Punjabi and Gujarati thali places, and hotels arrange Jain meals with notice; we write it on each voucher. In Sissu and on Rohtang, food is basic Maggi, rajma-chawal and tea.
- Local tastes to try: siddu (steamed bread with walnut or poppy-seed filling), trout from the Beas, Himachali dham at festivals, apple and plum products from the orchards.
- Missing home? a few cafés do pav bhaji and vada pav of a sort. Most families carry thepla, chivda or khakhra for the drive.
On the road
- Hill drives are slow: 40–60 km in an hour and a half is normal. Sit facing forward and eat light before the Mandi–Kullu stretch.
- After fresh snowfall, roads to Solang and the Atal Tunnel may close; local snow-chain taxis or a wait of a few hours is part of the experience.
- Mobile networks work in town; data is weak in Sissu and at Solang. Download your PDF vouchers before leaving Mumbai.

How much does a Manali tour package from Mumbai cost?
Our Manali packages currently start at ₹12,000 per person for 3 nights. Most of our Manali packages fall between ₹21,999 and ₹42,999 per person. The final cost depends on the travel month, hotel category, number of travellers and whether flights from {$from} are added. Open any package below to see exactly what is included, or ask us for a quote with flights.
Is there a direct flight from Mumbai to Manali?
No. Manali has no airport of its own, and as of October 2026 there is no non-stop flight from Mumbai to the nearest one at Kullu–Bhuntar. Most travellers fly Mumbai–Chandigarh non-stop and drive about 7–8 hours, or connect through Delhi to Kullu on a small Alliance Air aircraft.
Which is better from Mumbai, Chandigarh or Kullu airport?
Chandigarh is cheaper, has several daily non-stops from Mumbai and rarely suffers weather cancellations, but you then drive 7–8 hours. Kullu puts you 1½ hours from Manali, yet needs a Delhi connection, costs more and is cancelled in low cloud. We suggest Chandigarh for families and Kullu for couples with flexible plans.
When can we see snow in Manali from Mumbai?
From mid-December to February there is usually snow in Manali, Solang and Sissu. In March it lingers at Sissu and higher. In May and June snow survives mainly at Rohtang Pass, once the road reopens for the season. Diwali-vacation trips in October and November rarely see snow in town.
How many days do we need for Manali from Mumbai?
Plan at least five nights. The journey takes most of the first and last days, so five nights gives three full days in Manali for Solang, Sissu and the town. Six or seven nights let you add Shimla, Kasol or Dharamshala without long drives every day.
Can we go to Manali from Mumbai by train?
Not directly; the railway does not reach Manali. You can take a Rajdhani from Mumbai to Delhi in about 15–16 hours and then an overnight Volvo for 12–14 hours. It is the cheapest option but tiring with children. Most families fly to Chandigarh instead and drive up.
Is Manali good in the Maharashtra summer vacation?
Yes. May and early June are pleasant at 15–25°C, a relief from Mumbai heat, and suit sightseeing, paragliding and rafting. It is also the busiest season, so book hotels and Chandigarh flights by March. Snow at this time is mostly at Rohtang, subject to the pass opening and permits.
What warm clothes should Mumbai travellers carry?
For December to February: thermal inners, a sweater or fleece, a padded waterproof jacket, gloves, a woollen cap, warm socks and shoes with grip. For March to June, a light jacket and one warm layer are enough. Snow suits and boots can be rented in Manali for Solang and Sissu days.
Is Rohtang Pass open, and do we need a permit?
Rohtang normally opens from around mid-May or June until November, depending on snow. Vehicles need a permit with a daily quota, and the road is closed on some days for maintenance. As of October 2026 rules change regularly, so we check before you book and arrange the permit through a local taxi.
Is Manali safe to visit during the Mumbai monsoon?
July and August are best avoided. Himachal gets heavy rain and landslides, the Chandigarh–Manali highway can close for days, and adventure activities are suspended. September is better as the rain eases. If your only free time is the monsoon, consider a shorter hill trip closer to Mumbai instead.
Is Manali suitable for senior citizens from Mumbai?
Yes, with a gentle plan. Manali is at about 2,050 m, which most people manage well. We avoid long drives on consecutive days, choose hotels with lifts close to the Mall Road, and skip Rohtang for anyone with heart or breathing conditions. A night in Mandi on the way up helps.
Can we combine Manali with Shimla or Dharamshala from Mumbai?
Yes. Since you fly to Chandigarh anyway, Shimla adds just one extra drive day. Dharamshala and Dalhousie make a 7- or 8-night circuit, and you can return from Dharamshala's Gaggal airport or drive back to Chandigarh. We plan each as a private trip with one cab and driver throughout.
