Manali Tour Packages from Pune
From Lohegaon to the Beas valley in a single long day – private Manali trips for Pune families, couples and weekend trekkers who want the Himalaya after years of Sinhagad and Rajmachi.
Pune people tend to arrive in Manali with good legs. Many have spent monsoon weekends climbing Sinhagad, Lohagad or Harishchandragad, and Manali is often their first taste of real altitude: pine and deodar forest at 2,050 m, the Beas running fast through the valley, Solang 14 km above town and the Lahaul side of the Atal Tunnel at Sissu. For families from Kothrud or Wakad who have never seen snow, it is also the most practical snow trip in India, because the road stays open through most of winter.
The distance is the hard part. Manali is roughly 1,900 km from Pune by road, has no railway, and its small airport at Bhuntar has no flights from western India. This page works through that problem for Pune travellers: what the trip costs, the flight, rail and Mumbai-airport options, three day-wise plans built around the flight times, a short guide to Himalayan day hikes and treks for Sahyadri walkers, a month-by-month table that compares Manali with the weather you are leaving behind, and food and packing notes. Vibrant Holidays has no Pune office; our team in Ahmedabad plans your trip and you book on WhatsApp or phone. Every trip is private, with your own car and driver from the arrival airport.

What a Manali holiday from Pune costs (2026)
Himachal and Manali packages on our site start at ₹12,000 per person, and 24 are live today. The ranges below are per person for two adults sharing a room, without airfare. They cover hotels with breakfast and dinner, a private cab from Chandigarh airport to Manali and back, and sightseeing in the same cab.
| Plan | Standard (3★) | Deluxe (4★) | Premium (5★ / luxury cottages) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 nights Manali with a Sissu day, Chandigarh in and out | ₹14,500 – 19,000 | ₹21,000 – 27,500 | ₹34,000 – 52,000 |
| 5 nights: Tirthan valley 1 + Manali 4 | ₹17,500 – 23,000 | ₹25,000 – 33,000 | ₹41,000 – 63,000 |
| 6 nights: Manali 4 + Kasol 2, with one guided day hike | ₹20,500 – 27,000 | ₹29,500 – 39,000 | ₹48,000 – 74,000 |
| 7 nights: Manali, Bir and Dharamshala | ₹24,000 – 31,500 | ₹34,000 – 45,000 | ₹56,000 – 86,000 |
Airfare from Pune: a Pune–Chandigarh return usually costs about ₹10,000 – 18,000 per person when booked five or six weeks out. A return to Delhi is commonly ₹7,000 – 13,000, and a Delhi–Kullu add-on another ₹9,000 – 20,000 return because the aircraft are small. In Diwali week, the Christmas fortnight and the May vacation, budget 40–70% more. Families in Pimpri-Chinchwad or Lonavala sometimes find better Chandigarh timings from Mumbai; we price both airports when we quote.
Paid on the spot unless you ask us to include it: snow suits and boots at Solang (about ₹300 – 500 a set), the Solang ropeway, skiing lessons and snow scooters, paragliding, rafting near Kullu, the Rohtang permit and local taxi in the months it is open, a trek guide and porter if you hike, lunches and tips. Every one is listed on the quote with an estimate.
When prices jump: the last week of December, Diwali week and the first half of June. The same 4-star room that sells for about ₹4,500 in March can touch ₹10,000 – 11,000 around New Year.
Pune to Manali: flights, trains and the Mumbai option
| Option | Journey | Road leg to Manali | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| PNQ → Chandigarh (IXC) non-stop | About 2 h 15 min | About 300 km, 7–8 h | Most families; you can reach Manali the same day |
| PNQ → Delhi → Kullu–Bhuntar (KUU) | About 2 h + 1 h 20 min, plus layover | 50 km, about 1½ h | Couples with soft bags and flexible plans |
| Mumbai airport → Chandigarh | 3–4 h drive from Pune, then about 2½ h flight | 7–8 h | When PNQ timings or fares do not suit |
| Train from Pune Junction | About 30 h to Chandigarh on a twice-weekly train, or about a day to Delhi | 7–8 h from Chandigarh; overnight Volvo from Delhi | Rail lovers with time to spare |
The Pune–Chandigarh non-stop
As of October 2026, schedule data shows one IndiGo non-stop a day between Pune and Chandigarh, of about 2 hours 15 minutes, in a very early-morning slot; Air India Express has also been listed on the route. The early timing is awkward for the drive to Lohegaon, but it is a gift for a Manali trip: you land in Chandigarh around dawn, the driver is waiting, and you are in Manali by mid-afternoon with daylight to spare. Leave Hinjewadi or Baner about 2½ hours before departure at that hour. Timings change with each schedule season, so we confirm the slot on your dates before planning day 1.
Through Delhi
Pune has many daily non-stops to Delhi, so a Delhi connection gives the widest choice of times. From IGI you can take the Alliance Air flight to Bhuntar, which is cancelled when cloud sits low in the Kullu valley, or fly on to Chandigarh. Keep at least three to four hours between flights because they are on separate tickets, and keep a road plan in reserve for the Kullu leg.
By train
The Karnataka Sampark Kranti between Yesvantpur and Chandigarh reverses at Pune Junction; published timetables show it running twice a week and taking about 30 hours to Chandigarh. Alternatively, several trains reach Delhi in about a day, after which an overnight HRTC or private Volvo covers the last 12–14 hours. Neither suits a short holiday, but some retired couples enjoy the slow way up and fly home.
Best departure days: fly out on a Tuesday or Wednesday. You get Solang and Sissu on weekdays, before the weekend traffic from Chandigarh and Punjab, and midweek fares from PNQ are usually lower.

From the Sahyadris to the Himalaya: hikes and treks near Manali
A Pune trekker who can climb Rajgad in a morning is fit enough for most Manali day hikes. What changes is altitude. Sahyadri forts top out around 1,300–1,650 m; Manali starts at 2,050 m and the popular trails climb past 3,500 m. Breathlessness, headaches and poor sleep are common on the first day or two, even for regular hikers.
| Walk or trek | Start point | Highest point (about) | Season | Effort for a fit Pune hiker |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jogini waterfall | Vashisht | 2,500 m | March to November | Easy half-day |
| Jalori Pass to Serolsar lake | Jalori Pass, Tirthan side | 3,100 m | April to November | Easy to moderate day |
| Beas Kund (2–3 days) | Solang / Dhundi | 3,700 m | June to October | Moderate |
| Bhrigu Lake (3–4 days, or a long day part-way) | Gulaba | 4,200 m | June to October | Moderate to hard |
| Hampta Pass (4–5 days) | Jobra | 4,270 m | June to October | Moderate to hard |
- Spend one night in Manali before going high. Climb slowly, drink water and come down if a headache worsens.
- Multi-day treks are run by registered local operators with guides, tents and cooks. We add them to your trip and keep the hotel and cab plan around them; we do not send anyone out alone.
- Monsoon is different here. The Sahyadri trekking season is June to September, but those are Manali's riskiest months for landslides on the highway. Hampta crosses into dry Lahaul and is walked in July and August, yet the drive from Chandigarh can still be blocked. September and early October are the better choice.
- Gear: Sahyadri trail shoes are not enough above the snow line. Rent proper boots, a warm jacket and trekking poles in Manali.
Manali month by month, compared with Pune
| Month | Manali | Back home in Pune | Our advice |
|---|---|---|---|
| January | –5 to 10°C, snow at Solang and Sissu | Cool mornings, about 10–30°C | Best snow; pack serious woollens |
| February | –3 to 12°C, deep snow higher up | Warming up | Good snow at fair prices |
| March | 2 to 16°C, snow melting in town | Hot afternoons begin | Quiet roads; Sissu still white |
| April | 6 to 20°C, apple blossom | Hot, 35°C and above | Couples and Tirthan valley |
| May | 10 to 25°C | Hottest month; school vacation | Peak family season; book by March |
| June | 12 to 27°C | Monsoon arrives; schools reopen mid-month | First half only |
| July – August | Heavy rain, landslides | Monsoon treks in the Sahyadris | Avoid Manali; trek closer to home |
| September | Clearing, 10 to 22°C | Ganeshotsav, late monsoon | After the festival, good value |
| October | 4 to 18°C, crisp and clear | Post-monsoon heat | Excellent; Diwali vacation may start late in the month |
| November | 0 to 15°C, dry | Pleasant | Diwali vacation sightseeing; little snow in town |
| December | –3 to 10°C, snow from mid-month | Pune winter, about 12–29°C | Christmas break; book by October |
Maharashtra school calendars: state-board schools usually break for two to three weeks around Diwali and from May to mid-June. CBSE and ICSE schools in the city often have a shorter Diwali break and a few days at Christmas. Diwali gives clear views and apple-season colour but rarely snow in Manali town; for snow, the Christmas week and January weekends around Republic Day are the windows that work for Pune families.
Rohtang Pass opens to vehicles from around late May to November, with a daily permit quota and a weekly closure day, and the road beyond Gulaba shuts early in winter. These rules are as of October 2026; we check them before you pay.
Food, packing and health notes for Pune travellers
Food
- Vegetarian and Jain: simple in Manali. Mall Road has several pure-veg restaurants, and our hotels cook Jain meals when told in advance; we print it on the voucher. In Sissu, Kasol cafés and on trek, choices narrow to dal, rice, rajma and Maggi.
- Maharashtrian tastes: poha appears on some hotel breakfast menus; misal and sabudana khichdi do not. Families often pack chakli, laddoos or thalipeeth bhajani for the road and the trek.
- Local food worth trying: siddu with walnut filling, the Himachali dham, apple and plum preserves, and fresh Beas trout for those who eat fish.
Packing
- Winter (December to February): thermals, a fleece, a padded waterproof jacket, gloves, woollen cap and socks. A December sweater from home is not enough at Solang. Snow suits and boots can be rented locally.
- Summer (April to June): a light jacket and one warm layer; evenings are cool and Rohtang is cold at any time of year.
- Sun and skin: high-SPF sunscreen, sunglasses and lip balm; mountain sun burns quickly.
Health and the road
- The Mandi–Kullu stretch winds along the river; carry motion-sickness tablets for children and eat light.
- Anyone with heart, lung or blood-pressure problems should check with a doctor before Rohtang (about 3,980 m) or a trek.
- Download your PDF vouchers before you leave home; mobile data is weak at Solang, Sissu and on the Tirthan side.

How much does a Manali tour package from Pune cost?
Our Manali packages currently start at ₹12,000 per person for 3 nights. Most of our Manali packages fall between ₹21,999 and ₹42,999 per person. The final cost depends on the travel month, hotel category, number of travellers and whether flights from Pune are added. Open any package below to see exactly what is included, or ask us for a quote with flights.
Is there a direct flight from Pune to Manali?
No. Manali has no airport, and the nearest one at Kullu–Bhuntar has no flights from Maharashtra. As of October 2026 the practical route is the Pune–Chandigarh non-stop of about 2 hours 15 minutes followed by a 7–8 hour drive, or a Delhi connection onward to Kullu or Chandigarh.
What time does the Pune to Chandigarh flight leave?
Recent schedules show one IndiGo non-stop a day in a very early-morning slot, landing in Chandigarh around dawn. That suits Manali well because you arrive the same afternoon. Timings change each schedule season and other airlines join or leave the route, so we confirm the flight on your dates before fixing the itinerary.
Can we reach Manali from Pune in one day?
Yes, with the early Pune–Chandigarh flight. You land around dawn and the drive takes 7–8 hours, so you check in by mid-afternoon. With a later flight or a Delhi connection you arrive late at night, and for families with small children or elderly parents we usually suggest a night in Mandi or Kullu instead.
Is there a train from Pune to Manali?
The railway does not reach Manali. The Karnataka Sampark Kranti runs from Pune Junction to Chandigarh about twice a week in around 30 hours, according to published timetables. Trains to Delhi take about a day, then an overnight Volvo covers the last 12–14 hours. Both work for travellers with time; most Pune families fly.
Should we fly from Pune or Mumbai airport?
Start with Lohegaon. If the PNQ–Chandigarh timing or fare does not suit, Mumbai has several daily non-stops to Chandigarh, but the drive from Pune takes 3–4 hours. For homes in Pimpri-Chinchwad or towards Lonavala, Mumbai can make sense; from Kharadi or Hadapsar, PNQ is almost always easier. We quote both.
Can Pune trekkers do Hampta Pass or Bhrigu Lake on a Manali trip?
Yes, between June and early October, through a registered local operator with guides and camping gear. Add a night in Manali first to acclimatise. Bhrigu Lake reaches about 4,200 m and Hampta about 4,270 m, much higher than any Sahyadri fort, so even fit hikers should climb slowly and turn back if symptoms worsen.
Is the Diwali vacation a good time for Manali from Pune?
Yes for sightseeing, not for snow. Late October and November bring clear skies, cold nights near freezing and quiet roads, but snow in Manali town is rare before mid-December. Rohtang and Sissu may have early snow. Book flights early, since Diwali week fares from Pune rise sharply.
What is the Tirthan valley, and is it worth adding?
It is a quiet river valley near the Great Himalayan National Park, reached by a turn-off after the Aut tunnel on the Chandigarh–Manali highway. One night there breaks the long drive, adds trout streams, village walks and the Jalori Pass walk to Serolsar lake, and suits families who find Manali crowded.
How many days are enough for Manali from Pune?
Five nights is a sensible minimum, since the journey uses much of the first and last days. Four nights works only with the early Chandigarh flight. Six or seven nights let you add Kasol, the Tirthan valley, a short trek or Dharamshala without driving long hours every day.
Is Manali safe during the monsoon months?
July and August are the riskiest months in Himachal, with heavy rain, landslides and highway closures that can last days. Paragliding and rafting stop. If monsoon is your only free time, consider Sahyadri treks closer to home and keep Manali for September after Ganeshotsav, when the rain eases.
How do we book if your office is in Ahmedabad?
Over WhatsApp or phone. Our team shares a day-wise plan and quote, you pay online, and you receive hotel vouchers, the cab details and the invoice as PDFs. During the trip the driver and our Manali partner are on call, with 24x7 backup from our team in Ahmedabad.
