For Pune travellers the first Dubai question is not which hotel but which airport. Pune International Airport at Lohegaon has one dependable non-stop to Dubai: IndiGo's nightly flight, which resumed on 2 August 2026 after the Pune–Dubai route was suspended earlier in the year during the Gulf conflict. It leaves just after midnight and lands in Dubai around 2 am local time. That suits a long weekend, but it is not ideal for grandparents or toddlers. The alternative is Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, about 150 km away by the expressway, with daytime departures on Emirates, Air India, IndiGo, Akasa, flydubai and others.

This page is written for travellers in Pune and nearby Pimpri-Chinchwad, Satara and Ahilyanagar. It sets out what a Dubai holiday costs per person, how to choose between PNQ and Mumbai, the UAE visa steps as of November 2026, three itineraries built around those flight times, a calendar for Maharashtra school holidays and long weekends, and food notes for vegetarian, Jain and non-veg families. Every trip is private and planned by our team in Ahmedabad over WhatsApp or phone; we have no Pune office.

Flights on top: the PNQ–DXB non-stop typically costs about ₹18,000 to ₹30,000 per person return in economy when booked a month or more ahead. From Mumbai the range is similar, but with many more airlines there is usually a cheaper date or time to be found. Diwali, Christmas–New Year and the May vacation push either route towards ₹32,000–45,000. If you fly from Mumbai, add a private car from Pune: roughly ₹4,500–7,000 one way for a sedan or SUV, more for a Tempo Traveller.

Extras you pay for in Dubai unless included: prime-time or level-148 Burj Khalifa upgrades, Museum of the Future, theme parks on Yas Island or at Dubai Parks, quad bikes at the camp, meals outside the package and the hotel's Tourism Dirham fee, charged per room per night. Hotels also block a refundable deposit on a credit card at check-in.

Fly from Pune or drive to Mumbai? Choosing the airport

Flying timeAbout 3 hoursAbout 3 hours
Road time to the airport20–45 minutes from most of Pune; longer from Hinjewadi at night3–4 hours from Pune by the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, more on Friday evenings
Best forCouples and friends on a long weekend; travellers who sleep easily on planesFamilies with small children or parents, Emirates baggage allowance, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah open-jaw routes
  • The 2 am arrival: Dubai is 1½ hours behind India, so the midnight flight lands in the dead of night. We book the hotel from the previous date so you can go straight to bed; paying for one extra night is far cheaper than a family waiting in a lobby until 3 pm.
  • The return flight: the evening departure from Dubai means the last day is a half day – a late breakfast, a mall and the airport by mid-afternoon.
  • Driving to Mumbai: leave Pune at least six hours before an international departure to cover the expressway, ghat traffic at Khandala and the three-hour airport check-in. Navi Mumbai's new airport, closer to Pune by road than Sahar, is adding routes; we check it as well.
  • Baggage: IndiGo's economy fares include a fixed checked allowance; families planning Dubai shopping should add extra kilos at booking, when it costs less than at the airport.

UAE visa for Pune travellers (as of November 2026)

Indian passport holders need a UAE visa before flying unless they qualify for visa on arrival. We prepare and submit your application through a licensed UAE sponsor; approval is at the discretion of the UAE immigration authority, and we never promise it.

  • Which visa: a 30-day single-entry tourist e-visa covers any normal holiday. The government fee is about AED 265 including VAT; with the sponsor's service charge and insurance most travellers pay roughly ₹7,000–9,000 per person.
  • Documents on WhatsApp: a clear colour scan of the passport's front and back pages (valid at least six months beyond travel), a recent photo on a white background and a PAN card copy. Self-employed travellers or first-time flyers are sometimes asked for a bank statement.
  • Timing: the standard processing time is short on paper, but allow three to five working days, and apply two to three weeks before departure. For Diwali and Christmas dates, start a month ahead.
  • Visa on arrival: only for Indians holding a valid US visa or green card, a UK or EU visa or residence permit, or residence in a short list of other countries, with conditions. Pune's IT professionals with a current US B1/B2 visa often qualify; we check before you rely on it.
  • The Abu Dhabi free-visa offer for Indians booking three hotel nights in Abu Dhabi ran from 1 August to 31 October 2026. If it is extended or repeated we will apply it to eligible 6-night plans.

Full fees, processing times and refusal reasons are on our Dubai visa guide for Indians. Rules change, so we check again before you book.

Maharashtra school holidays and Pune long weekends

Most Pune families travel in four windows, and each matches a different side of Dubai.

  • Diwali vacation (October–November): Maharashtra schools close for about two weeks around Diwali. Dubai is warm in the day but pleasant after sunset, Global Village and the outdoor attractions have just reopened, and hotel prices are below the December peak. Flights from both PNQ and Mumbai fill early.
  • Christmas to New Year: many CBSE and ICSE schools in Pune break for a week to ten days. The Dubai Shopping Festival usually begins in mid-December and the New Year fireworks at Burj Khalifa draw huge crowds – book hotels by September.
  • Summer vacation (May to mid-June): the longest break, but Dubai is 38–42°C. We keep the outdoors to early morning and after sunset and use indoor parks such as IMG Worlds and the ski slope at Mall of the Emirates. 5-star hotels drop to their lowest rates.
  • Long weekends: Republic Day, Gudi Padwa, Maharashtra Day (1 May) and Independence Day often create three- or four-day breaks for Hinjewadi, Magarpatta and Kharadi offices. The midnight flight makes a 3-night trip work with very little leave.

Pune's own festival season – Ganeshotsav in August–September – is when most Puneris stay home, so September flights to Dubai are often cheap for those who do travel.

Food and practical tips for Pune travellers in Dubai

Eating well

  • Vegetarian and Jain: Bur Dubai, Meena Bazaar and Karama have dozens of pure-veg Gujarati, Rajasthani and South Indian restaurants, and Jain food is easy to find there. We choose Standard hotels in Bur Dubai for families who want to walk to a veg dinner.
  • Maharashtrian cravings: vada pav, misal and poha turn up at Indian cafés in Karama and Bur Dubai, though a full Puneri thali is rare. Most hotel breakfasts include poha or upma at the Indian counter.
  • Non-veg families: all meat in the UAE is halal. Lebanese grills, shawarma and Emirati machboos are worth trying, and Indian coastal-style fish thalis are available in Karama.
  • Fasting days: if anyone keeps an upvas on Ekadashi or a Monday during the trip, carry sabudana, rajgira chikki or dry fruit from home; fasting-friendly menus are not common outside Indian restaurants.
  • Desert camp and cruise: both have a vegetarian counter; vegetarians should serve themselves before the grill items arrive.

Practical points

  • Money: carry a multi-currency forex card and AED 300–500 in cash per family for taxis and souks. One dirham is roughly ₹26 (November 2026).
  • Medicines: carry prescriptions in English; some common Indian medicines are controlled in the UAE.
  • Clothing: covered shoulders and knees for the Grand Mosque and the mandir, a light sweater for December desert nights and strong sunscreen from April.
  • Getting around: the Dubai Metro Red Line links the airport, Karama, Downtown, Mall of the Emirates and the Marina; buy a Nol card per person.
  • Gold: prices at the Gold Souk follow the daily rate plus a making charge. Check Indian customs duty-free jewellery limits before buying and keep invoices for the VAT refund at the airport.

Dubai tour from Pune: FAQs

How much does a Dubai tour package from Pune cost?

Our Dubai packages currently start at ₹17,500 per person for 2 nights. Most of our Dubai packages fall between ₹35,500 and ₹71,500 per person. The final cost depends on the travel month, hotel category, number of travellers and whether flights from Pune are added. Open any package below to see exactly what is included, or ask us for a quote with flights.

Is there a direct flight from Pune to Dubai?

Yes. As of November 2026 IndiGo flies non-stop from Pune to Dubai every night, leaving shortly after midnight and landing around 2.15 am Dubai time after about three hours. The route resumed on 2 August 2026 after a suspension earlier in the year. SpiceJet has also listed an evening flight on some schedules; we confirm what is operating when we quote.

Should I fly to Dubai from Pune or from Mumbai?

Fly from Pune if you are a couple or friends on a short trip and do not mind a 2 am arrival. Choose Mumbai if you travel with children or parents, want a daytime flight, prefer Emirates or need an Abu Dhabi routing. Mumbai is three to four hours by road, so add the car cost and travel time when comparing fares.

What time does the Pune to Dubai flight land?

The IndiGo non-stop lands at about 2.15 am local time, which is 3.45 am in India. Because hotels release rooms in the afternoon, we book your room from the previous date so you can sleep on arrival. That extra night costs far less than waiting in a hotel lobby with tired children.

Do Pune residents need a visa for Dubai?

Yes, Indian passport holders need a UAE visa arranged before travel, usually the 30-day single-entry tourist e-visa. As of November 2026 most travellers pay about ₹7,000 to ₹9,000 including the service charge. Holders of a valid US, UK or EU visa may qualify for visa on arrival. We prepare and submit the application; approval rests with the UAE authorities.

How many days are enough for Dubai from Pune?

Three nights works for a long weekend on the midnight flight, covering Burj Khalifa, the desert safari and a dhow cruise. Four nights adds Abu Dhabi and is the right length for a first visit. Five or six nights suits families who want a theme park, a free day or two nights in Abu Dhabi.

How much does it cost to drive from Pune to Mumbai airport?

A private sedan or SUV from Pune to Mumbai airport usually costs about ₹4,500 to ₹7,000 one way including tolls, and a Tempo Traveller for a large family costs more. Allow three to four hours, longer on Friday evenings and in the monsoon. We can include the car in your package so timings match the flight.

What is the best time to visit Dubai from Pune?

November to March has the best weather, and the Shopping Festival runs from mid-December into January. The Diwali vacation in October–November is a popular family window with comfortable evenings. The May summer vacation is very hot, but plans built around indoor parks and evening outings work, and hotel rates are much lower.

Can I do Dubai on a long weekend from Pune?

Yes. Take the midnight IndiGo flight on Thursday or Friday night, spend three full days in Dubai and fly back on the evening flight, landing in Pune around 10.30 pm. When a public holiday such as Republic Day or Maharashtra Day falls next to a weekend, the trip needs only one or two days of leave.

Is vegetarian and Jain food available in Dubai?

Yes, widely. Bur Dubai, Meena Bazaar and Karama have many pure-veg Indian restaurants, and Jain food is easy to find in that area. Hotel breakfasts usually include poha or upma. The desert camp and dhow cruise have vegetarian counters. We write vegetarian or Jain requirements on hotel and tour vouchers.

Can I visit the BAPS Mandir in Abu Dhabi from Dubai?

Yes. Our Abu Dhabi day includes the BAPS Hindu Mandir with the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. The mandir is closed on Mondays, needs modest clothing and has security screening, so we schedule around those rules. It is about an hour from Dubai and has a vegetarian food court.

How do I book a Dubai trip from Pune with Vibrant Holidays?

Message or call our Ahmedabad team with your dates, number of travellers and preferred airport. We send a written itinerary with hotel names and prices, revise it until it suits you, then collect visa documents on WhatsApp. Payment is online, and vouchers, tickets and the e-visa arrive as PDFs before you leave Pune.
