Kashmir Tour Packages from Hyderabad
A three-hour non-stop from Shamshabad to Srinagar, snow in the Sankranti week and Wazwan for biryani lovers – private Kashmir holidays planned around Telangana school breaks.
Hyderabad is better connected to Kashmir than most South Indian cities. As of October 2026, IndiGo runs a daily non-stop from Rajiv Gandhi International at Shamshabad to Srinagar, taking about three hours, so the valley is a single flight away rather than a full day of connections. The departure is in the afternoon, which shapes the first day of every plan on this page: you land in Srinagar by early evening, go straight to a houseboat and start sightseeing the next morning.
This guide is written for Hyderabad and Secunderabad travellers, and for families from Warangal, Karimnagar and nearby districts who fly out of RGIA. It covers package costs, the non-stop and one-stop flights, the weekly train towards Jammu, three itineraries, Telangana's Sankranti, summer and Dasara holidays, a month-by-month table and a frank food section. That includes where Hyderabadi meat lovers will be happiest and what Telugu vegetarian families should pack. Vibrant Holidays is based in Ahmedabad; we plan Hyderabad trips remotely, on WhatsApp and phone, and have no Hyderabad office. Every trip is private, with your own car and driver.

Airfare from Hyderabad: a return RGIA–Srinagar ticket usually falls between ₹16,000 and ₹28,000 per person when booked a month or so ahead. The single non-stop sells out first in peak weeks, and in late April to June and over Sankranti the fare can go past ₹32,000. One-stop routes via Delhi, Amritsar or Chandigarh are sometimes cheaper but add two to four hours.
Paid locally, unless you ask us to include it: Gulmarg cable car tickets, Pahalgam union taxis to Aru, Betaab and Chandanwari, ponies, winter coats and boots, lunches and garden entry fees. We list approximate rates with the quote so you can budget properly.
Hyderabad to Srinagar by air, and the train option
Flying from Rajiv Gandhi International (HYD)
- The non-stop: IndiGo flies once a day from Shamshabad to Srinagar in about three hours, with an afternoon departure and an early-evening landing, as of October 2026. The return leaves Srinagar in the evening and reaches Hyderabad late at night. Airlines change timings with each schedule season, so we confirm before fixing hotels.
- One-stop: plenty of choice through Delhi, plus some routes via Amritsar, Chandigarh or Bengaluru, usually taking five to seven hours in total. An early-morning connection can put you in Srinagar by late morning, giving you an extra half-day.
- Getting to RGIA: from HITEC City or Gachibowli, allow about an hour; from Secunderabad or Kompally, 75–90 minutes. The airport is easy and well run, so two hours before a domestic flight is enough.
- Jammu: there is no active Hyderabad–Jammu non-stop as of October 2026. For Vaishno Devi, most families fly to Srinagar first and take the Vande Bharat to Katra, or connect to Jammu via Delhi.
- Leaving Srinagar: the airport has an outer security gate and an inner screening, so plan to arrive 2½–3 hours before take-off.
Rail towards Kashmir
| Leg | Train | Approximate time |
|---|---|---|
| Secunderabad to Jammu Tawi | Weekly Humsafar Express (22705) | 33 hours |
| Secunderabad or Kacheguda to New Delhi | Telangana Express, Rajdhani and others | 22 – 27 hours |
| New Delhi to Katra | Vande Bharat | 8 hours |
| Jammu Tawi or Katra to Srinagar | Vande Bharat via Reasi and Banihal, not on Tuesdays | 4 h 50 min from Jammu; 3 h from Katra |
The Jammu–Srinagar Vande Bharat has run since May 2026, so the whole journey can now be done by rail. With a non-stop flight available, though, few Hyderabad families choose the train except families who want Vaishno Devi first. Running days on this line have shifted more than once, so we check IRCTC before booking.
Road distances in the valley
Srinagar to Gulmarg is about 50 km, to Pahalgam about 95 km, to Sonamarg about 80 km and to Yusmarg about 47 km. Inside Pahalgam and Sonamarg, local points are covered by union taxi or pony, not your own car.

Sankranti, summer and Dasara: Telangana holidays mapped to Kashmir
- Sankranti (mid-January): Telangana schools usually close for about a week around Bhogi, Sankranti and Kanuma. That is the heart of the Kashmir winter, with Gulmarg under snow and Srinagar at minus 2 to minus 6°C at night. For Hyderabad children who have never seen snow, it is the best window. Book flights by October or November.
- Summer break (late April to mid-June): while Hyderabad heads for 42–44°C, Srinagar stays at about 20–28°C. Late April and the first half of May are a little quieter than late May and June, when North Indian holidays overlap.
- Dasara and Bathukamma holidays: Telangana gives one of the longest Dasara breaks in the country, often about two weeks between late September and mid-October. Kashmir then is dry and clear, with apple orchards in harvest and the chinars starting to turn.
- Eid and Ramzan: during Ramzan, many Srinagar restaurants open only after iftar, while hotels keep serving guests. Eid in the valley is festive and busy; we plan around it if you are travelling then.
- Christmas and year-end: the IT corridor's favourite leave window; snow usually reaches Gulmarg by late December.

Food and packing advice for Hyderabad travellers
For biryani and meat lovers
Hyderabadis tend to love Kashmiri food. Wazwan, the multi-course Kashmiri feast, is built around mutton: rista, gushtaba, rogan josh and tabak maaz. All meat served in the valley is halal. Kashmiri cooking uses fennel, dry ginger and Kashmiri chilli rather than the heat and sourness of Hyderabadi masalas, so expect milder, more aromatic food. Pulao replaces biryani; if you want a spicy biryani, a few Srinagar restaurants make a Mughlai version, but it will taste quite different from the dum biryani you get in Hyderabad. We can arrange a Wazwan dinner on the houseboat or at a family restaurant in Srinagar.
For Telugu vegetarian families
Rice is the staple in Kashmir, which helps: steamed rice and dal are available everywhere, and hotel kitchens will make a plain rasam or curd rice with notice. South Indian tiffin is hard to find outside a few Srinagar restaurants. Carry avakaya or gongura pickle, karam podi, ready-to-eat upma or pongal packs and some snacks for the long drives. Pure-veg restaurants near Dal Gate serve North Indian thalis, and Katra is fully vegetarian. Jain and no onion–garlic meals are confirmed in writing.
Practical tips
- Cold for Hyderabad: evenings in May can feel like a Hyderabad December at its coldest. In winter you need thermals, a down jacket, gloves, a cap and waterproof shoes. Gear can be hired at Gulmarg.
- Phones: prepaid SIMs from Telangana stop working in Jammu and Kashmir. Postpaid numbers work, so carry at least one.
- Prayer and modest dress: visitors to Hazratbal and Jamia Masjid should cover their heads; women enter some shrines only up to a set point.
- Cash: UPI is widely accepted in Srinagar; carry cash for ponies and union taxis.
- Daily updates: we monitor weather, roads and advisories every day and adjust the route if needed, with 24x7 support on WhatsApp.

How much does a Kashmir tour package from Hyderabad cost?
Our Kashmir packages currently start at ₹19,500 per person for 4 nights. Most of our Kashmir packages fall between ₹28,000 and ₹49,900 per person. The final cost depends on the travel month, hotel category, number of travellers and whether flights from {$from} are added. Open any package below to see exactly what is included, or ask us for a quote with flights.
Is there a direct flight from Hyderabad to Srinagar?
Yes. As of October 2026, IndiGo operates one non-stop flight a day from Rajiv Gandhi International to Srinagar, taking about three hours with an afternoon departure. Timings change with each schedule season, and the flight fills early in peak weeks, so we check it before planning your first day.
What is the flight fare from Hyderabad to Srinagar?
A return ticket usually costs ₹16,000 to ₹28,000 per person if booked about a month ahead. In the summer break and during Sankranti week it can cross ₹32,000. One-stop routes via Delhi are sometimes cheaper but add two to four hours each way.
Is there a flight from Hyderabad to Jammu?
Not non-stop, as of October 2026; you connect through Delhi or another city. For Vaishno Devi, many Hyderabad families fly direct to Srinagar, tour Kashmir first, then take the Vande Bharat from Srinagar to Katra in about three hours.
Can I travel from Hyderabad to Kashmir by train?
Yes, but it is slow. A weekly Humsafar Express runs from Secunderabad to Jammu Tawi in about 33 hours, and the Vande Bharat continues from Jammu to Srinagar in under five hours. Alternatively go via New Delhi. With a non-stop flight available, most families fly.
Is Sankranti a good time to visit Kashmir?
Yes, if you want snow. Mid-January is peak winter, with Gulmarg under thick snow and Srinagar below freezing at night. Telangana's Sankranti break gives about a week, which suits a six-night trip. Book flights by October or November because the non-stop fills quickly.
How many days are enough for Kashmir from Hyderabad?
Five nights works well because the non-stop flight saves a day of travel. That covers Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam and a Sonamarg morning. Six nights lets you sleep in Gulmarg and Pahalgam, and seven or eight adds Vaishno Devi.
Will Hyderabadi food lovers enjoy Kashmiri cuisine?
Most do. Wazwan dishes like rista, gushtaba and rogan josh are rich, mutton-based and halal. Kashmiri food is milder and more aromatic than Hyderabadi cooking, and pulao replaces biryani. We can arrange a Wazwan dinner during your stay.
Is vegetarian Telugu food available in Kashmir?
Rice and dal are available everywhere, and hotels can make curd rice or rasam if briefed in advance. Andhra and Telangana dishes are not, so carry pickles, podi and ready-to-eat packs. Srinagar has North Indian pure-veg restaurants, and Jain meals are arranged on request.
What is the weather in Kashmir during Telangana summer holidays?
Very pleasant. From late April to mid-June, Srinagar days are around 20 to 28°C, while Hyderabad is often above 40°C. Gulmarg and Pahalgam are cooler, and evenings need a light jacket. All valleys including Sonamarg are open.
Do Telangana prepaid SIMs work in Kashmir?
No. Prepaid mobile connections from Telangana and other states do not work in Jammu and Kashmir. Postpaid numbers from any major operator work normally. Make sure at least one person in your family carries a postpaid phone.
Do you have an office in Hyderabad?
No. Vibrant Holidays operates from Ahmedabad and plans Hyderabad trips remotely. You work with one planner on WhatsApp or phone, receive every document as a PDF, and have 24x7 support throughout your Kashmir holiday.
