Kashmir Tour Packages from Delhi
A 90-minute flight from IGI or the new rail line through the Pir Panjal via Katra – private Kashmir trips for Delhi and NCR families, with Vaishno Devi added when you want it.
No big Indian city is better placed for Kashmir than Delhi. Flights from IGI to Srinagar take about an hour and a half and leave throughout the day, so a family from Dwarka, Noida or Gurugram can board after breakfast and be on a shikara by mid-afternoon. Since the Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla rail link opened, there is now also a rail route: a Vande Bharat from New Delhi to Katra, and another Vande Bharat that crosses the Chenab bridge into the valley. For Delhi families who want to combine Mata Vaishno Devi with Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam, that changes how the trip can be planned.
This page is written for travellers from Delhi and the NCR. It explains what Kashmir packages really cost when you start in Delhi, the flight, rail and road options compared honestly, three itineraries – a quick summer escape, a rail-based Vaishno Devi and Kashmir trip, and a winter snow holiday – how Delhi's school holidays and winter fog affect plans, a month-by-month table, and food and packing advice for Delhi families. Vibrant Holidays works from Ahmedabad and plans Delhi trips on WhatsApp and phone; we do not have a Delhi office. Every trip is private, with your own car and driver, and the packages listed show live prices.

Kashmir tour cost from Delhi (2026 guide)

They include hotels with breakfast and dinner, one houseboat night on Dal or Nigeen lake, a private car with driver for all transfers and sightseeing, an hour-long shikara ride and taxes. Flights or train tickets from Delhi are extra.
| Trip | Standard (3-star / B-class houseboat) | Deluxe (4-star / deluxe houseboat) | Premium (5-star / heritage) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 nights – Srinagar with a Gulmarg day | ₹10,500 – 14,000 | ₹15,500 – 21,000 | ₹26,000 – 38,000 |
| 4 nights – Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam | ₹13,500 – 17,500 | ₹19,500 – 25,500 | ₹31,000 – 46,000 |
| 5 nights – adds Sonamarg | ₹16,500 – 21,500 | ₹23,500 – 31,000 | ₹38,000 – 58,000 |

Airfare from Delhi: a return IGI–Srinagar ticket usually costs ₹7,500 to ₹15,000 per person when booked a month ahead. In late May and June, during Delhi's summer vacation, and over Christmas and New Year, it can cross ₹20,000. Vande Bharat chair-car tickets for the rail route are far cheaper – a few thousand rupees per person for the whole Delhi–Katra–Srinagar journey one way.
Paid locally in Kashmir: Gulmarg gondola tickets (Phase 1 and Phase 2 are priced separately and sell out in peak season), Pahalgam union-taxi fares to Aru, Betaab and Chandanwari, ponies at Baisaran and Thajiwas glacier, snow-gear rental in winter, Vaishno Devi helicopter or ropeway tickets, and garden entry fees. We list current rates with your quote so the real total is visible before you pay.
Delhi to Kashmir: flight, Vande Bharat or road
Flying from IGI
Delhi has the most Srinagar flights of any Indian city – IndiGo, Air India, Air India Express, SpiceJet and Akasa between them run many non-stops a day, with flying time of about 1 hour 25 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes. Most leave from Terminal 1 or Terminal 3; confirm on your ticket. A flight that leaves Delhi before 10 am lets you finish Mughal gardens or a shikara ride on day one. On the way back, Srinagar airport has an extra security check at the entry gate, so we drop you about 2½ to 3 hours before departure.
By rail via Katra
The rail route is now a real option for Delhi travellers, especially when Vaishno Devi is on the plan.
| Leg | Train | Approximate time |
|---|---|---|
| New Delhi to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra | Vande Bharat (morning or afternoon departure, six days a week) | About 8 – 8½ hours |
| New Delhi or Old Delhi to Jammu Tawi | Rajdhani and several overnight expresses | About 9 – 12 hours |
| Katra to Srinagar | Vande Bharat via Reasi, the Chenab bridge and Banihal | About 3 hours |
| Jammu Tawi to Srinagar | Vande Bharat, running since May 2026 | About 5 hours |
As of October 2026 there is still no single through train from Delhi to Srinagar; you change at Katra or Jammu. A direct service has been announced, and timetables on this line have changed several times, so we check the running days on IRCTC before fixing your dates. Tickets open 60 days ahead and Vande Bharat seats into the valley fill quickly in summer.
Driving from Delhi
| Stretch | Distance | Driving time |
|---|---|---|
| Delhi – Ambala – Ludhiana – Jalandhar – Pathankot – Jammu (NH44) | About 590 km | 10 – 11 hours |
| Jammu – Chenani-Nashri tunnel – Ramban – Banihal-Qazigund tunnel – Srinagar | About 250 km | 6 – 8 hours |
The full drive is about 850 km and needs a night halt in Jammu, Katra or Pathankot. It suits road-trip groups who want to stop at Patnitop or Sanasar on the way. The Ramban–Banihal section can close after heavy rain or snow, so in winter we always prefer flight or rail into the valley.
Three Kashmir itineraries from Delhi
4 nights / 5 days – summer escape from the Delhi heat
- Day 1: Early flight from IGI to Srinagar. Check in to a houseboat on Nigeen or Dal lake; Nishat and Shalimar gardens in the afternoon, shikara at sunset.

- Day 3: Pahalgam valleys by union taxi – Aru, Betaab and Chandanwari – or the pony ride to Baisaran meadow.
- Day 4: Drive from Pahalgam to Gulmarg via the Srinagar bypass (about 4 hours). Afternoon gondola to Kongdori, the meadows and St Mary's church. Overnight in Gulmarg.
- Day 5: Drive to Srinagar airport (about 2 hours), with a stop at Hazratbal if the flight time allows, and fly back to Delhi.
6 nights / 7 days – Vaishno Devi and Kashmir by Vande Bharat
- Day 1: Morning Vande Bharat from New Delhi to Katra; reach in the afternoon. Collect your Yatra registration RFID card and rest.
- Day 2: Climb or ride to the Bhawan for darshan – on foot, by pony or palki, or by helicopter to Sanjichhat when available. Bhairon temple ropeway. Night in Katra.
- Day 3: Vande Bharat Katra–Srinagar through the Pir Panjal; arrive late morning. Afternoon on Dal lake with a shikara ride; houseboat night.

- Day 7: Fly Srinagar–Delhi (most families prefer to fly back after a long trip).
For senior citizens we book the helicopter or a palki for darshan and keep the Gulmarg stay to one night so the day is not too long.

- Day 2–3: Two nights in Gulmarg. Gondola Phase 1 to Kongdori, snow activities, skiing lessons for beginners on the nursery slopes, sledges for children.
- Day 4: Back to Srinagar via Tangmarg; frozen edges of Dal lake on cold mornings, Kashmiri wazwan dinner (veg version available).
- Day 5: Sonamarg or Doodhpathri day trip, depending on road status after snowfall.
- Day 6: Fly back to Delhi.
Delhi school holidays, fog and the Kashmir calendar
- Summer vacation (mid-May to end of June): the busiest weeks for Kashmir from Delhi. Houseboats, Gulmarg hotels and IGI–Srinagar fares all peak, and the Amarnath Yatra usually starts in late June or early July, which tightens Pahalgam and Sonamarg further. Book by February or March.
- Winter break (roughly the first two weeks of January): Delhi schools close and families head for snow. Gulmarg is the reliable choice; book heated rooms early and keep a buffer day in case of snowfall.
- Fog season (mid-December to late January): morning flights from IGI and trains out of Delhi are often delayed. We choose late-morning flights and never plan a same-day train-to-flight connection.
- Long weekends: Holi, Independence Day and Dussehra weekends suit a 3- or 4-night Srinagar–Gulmarg trip. Leave on Thursday evening where possible.
- Tulip season: the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden usually blooms from late March to mid or late April, a good fit for Delhi families who travel before the heat sets in.
Best time to visit Kashmir from Delhi: month by month
| Month | Kashmir weather | Why Delhi travellers go | Rates |
|---|---|---|---|
| January | Snow in Gulmarg, Srinagar near freezing | Winter-break snow trips | High in first half |
| February | Cold, good snow cover | Skiing, quieter snow holidays | Moderate |
| March | Thawing, cool | Holi break; early tulips late in the month | Moderate |
| April | Spring, 10–20°C | Tulip garden, almond blossom | High |
| May | Pleasant, green | Escape from Delhi heat; school vacation starts | Peak |
| June | Warm days, cool nights | Summer vacation family trips | Peak |
| July | Mild, occasional showers | Escape from Delhi monsoon humidity; Amarnath Yatra period | High |
| August | Mild | Independence Day weekend | Moderate to high |
| September | Clear, crisp | Best-value month, fewer crowds | Moderate |
| October | Autumn colours, chinars turning | Dussehra and pre-Diwali trips; photography | Moderate |
| November | Cold, bare trees, first snow possible | Diwali week, quiet houseboats | Low to moderate |
| December | Cold; snow from mid-month in Gulmarg | Christmas and New Year snow | High from 20 Dec |
Food and packing advice for Delhi families
Food
- Delhi travellers usually find Kashmir easy for food. Srinagar has many Punjabi-style pure-veg dhabas near Dal Gate and the Boulevard – the best-known is Krishna Vaishno Dhaba – and Katra is entirely vegetarian.
- Try the vegetarian side of Kashmiri cooking: dum aloo, nadru (lotus stem) yakhni, haak saag, rajma with local rice, and kahwa with almonds.
- Jain meals are possible in better hotels with notice; on houseboats we confirm the menu in writing because the cook prepares everything on board.
- Gulmarg and Pahalgam have fewer veg-only restaurants, but every hotel kitchen we use serves vegetarian meals.
Packing and practical points
- Even in June, evenings in Pahalgam and Gulmarg drop to 8–12°C. Pack a fleece; in winter, thermals, waterproof boots and gloves (snow boots can be hired in Gulmarg).
- Prepaid SIM cards from outside Jammu and Kashmir do not work in the region; postpaid connections do. Keep a postpaid number active or buy a local prepaid SIM with ID.
- Carry ID for every member, including children; it is checked at the airport gate, Vaishno Devi registration and hotels.
- Book Gulmarg gondola tickets online as soon as dates are fixed in May, June and January.
- Kashmir is cash-friendly; ATMs are easy in Srinagar but scarce in Aru and Sonamarg.

How much does a Kashmir tour package from Delhi cost?
Our Kashmir packages currently start at ₹19,500 per person for 4 nights. Most of our Kashmir packages fall between ₹28,000 and ₹49,900 per person. The final cost depends on the travel month, hotel category, number of travellers and whether flights from {$from} are added. Open any package below to see exactly what is included, or ask us for a quote with flights.
How long is the flight from Delhi to Srinagar?
Non-stop flights from IGI to Srinagar take about 1 hour 25 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes, and there are many departures each day. Allow time for Delhi traffic to the airport and for the extra security check at Srinagar on the way back, where we drop you about 2½ to 3 hours before your flight.
Is there a direct train from Delhi to Srinagar?
Not yet, as of October 2026. You take the Vande Bharat from New Delhi to Katra, about 8 hours, and then the Katra–Srinagar Vande Bharat, about 3 hours, or go via Jammu Tawi. A through train has been announced, and we check the current timetable on IRCTC before booking your dates.
Can we do Vaishno Devi and Kashmir together from Delhi?
Yes. Take the Vande Bharat from Delhi to Katra, spend a night before and after darshan, then continue by Vande Bharat to Srinagar in about three hours. Add four or five nights in Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam and fly back to Delhi. Seven nights in total is comfortable for most families.
How far is Kashmir from Delhi by road?
Delhi to Srinagar is about 850 km: roughly 590 km on NH44 to Jammu, then about 250 km through the Chenani-Nashri and Banihal-Qazigund tunnels. It takes two days with a night in Jammu, Katra or Pathankot. In winter and after heavy rain the Ramban stretch can close, so we recommend flying or rail then.
How many days are enough for Kashmir from Delhi?
Because the flight is short, four nights covers Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam without rush. Five nights adds Sonamarg. With Vaishno Devi by train, plan six or seven nights. A three-night Srinagar and Gulmarg trip also works over a long weekend if you take an early flight from IGI.
When should Delhi families book Kashmir for the summer vacation?
Book by February or March for travel between mid-May and the end of June. That is when Delhi schools close, houseboats and Gulmarg hotels fill, and IGI–Srinagar fares climb steeply. Amarnath Yatra dates also affect Pahalgam and Sonamarg from late June, so early confirmation matters.
Does winter fog in Delhi affect a Kashmir trip?
It can. From mid-December to late January, early-morning flights and trains from Delhi are often delayed. We book late-morning flights, avoid tight connections, and keep the first day light. Snowfall in Srinagar can also delay flights, so a spare day at the end of a winter trip is sensible.
Is Kashmir cooler than Delhi in May and June?
Much cooler. While Delhi crosses 40°C, Srinagar is typically in the mid-20s by day, and Gulmarg and Pahalgam are cooler still, with chilly evenings. That is why Kashmir is the first choice for Delhi summer holidays. Pack a light jacket even in June for evenings in the hills.
Will we get vegetarian food in Kashmir?
Yes. Srinagar has Punjabi pure-veg dhabas near Dal Gate and on the Boulevard, and Katra is fully vegetarian. Kashmiri vegetarian dishes like dum aloo, nadru yakhni and haak saag are worth trying. Hotels and houseboats cook vegetarian meals, and we confirm Jain requirements in writing before you travel.
Will my Delhi mobile number work in Kashmir?
Postpaid numbers from any operator work in Jammu and Kashmir. Prepaid connections from outside the region do not, so if your Delhi number is prepaid, either switch to postpaid before travel or buy a local prepaid SIM with your ID in Srinagar. Your driver can help locate an authorised shop.
Do you have an office in Delhi?
No. Our team works from Ahmedabad and plans trips for Delhi, Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad travellers over WhatsApp and phone. You receive the quote, itinerary, vouchers and invoice as PDFs, pay by bank transfer or UPI, and can reach us around the clock while you are in Kashmir.
