Kerala Tour Packages from Delhi
Trade Delhi's winter haze for warm backwaters, tea hills and clean sea air – Kerala holidays for Delhi NCR families and couples, paced for the long journey south.
Kerala sits about 2,500 km from Delhi as the crow flies, and that distance shapes everything about a good trip. The flight from Indira Gandhi International takes a little over three hours, so with airport time each way you lose most of two days to travel. Short four-night packages that work well from Mumbai or Bengaluru feel rushed from Delhi. Six nights is the comfortable minimum, and seven or eight let you add a beach and an Ayurveda stay without driving every day.
The reward is the contrast. When Delhi is under fog and poor-air-quality warnings in December and January, Kochi is around 23–32°C, Munnar has crisp blue mornings, and the coast has steady sea breeze. This page sets out realistic costs for longer trips, flight and train choices from Delhi, three itineraries sized for the distance, a winter-escape planner, a month table that compares Delhi and Kerala weather, and food notes for North Indian families. Trips are planned by our team in Ahmedabad and booked on WhatsApp or phone – there is no Delhi office – and each one is private, with your own car and driver throughout Kerala.

What a 6–9 night Kerala holiday from Delhi costs
Our live Kerala packages currently start at ₹15,500 per person, and 24 are on sale. Because Delhi travellers usually stay longer, the bands below begin at six nights. They are indicative per-person figures for two adults in one room, covering hotels with breakfast, the houseboat night with full board, a private AC car and driver for every transfer and sightseeing day, and GST. Flights from Delhi are extra.
| Length and route | 3-star | 4-star and boutique | 5-star and luxury |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6 nights – Kochi, Munnar, Thekkady, Alleppey, Kochi | ₹22,000 – 28,000 | ₹30,000 – 39,500 | ₹50,000 – 75,000 |
| 7 nights – in at Kochi, out at Thiruvananthapuram, Kovalam beach | ₹26,000 – 33,500 | ₹35,500 – 46,500 | ₹60,000 – 92,000 |
| 8 nights – adds Kumarakom and two Ayurveda days | ₹31,000 – 39,500 | ₹42,000 – 55,000 | ₹72,000 – 1,10,000 |
| 9 nights – slow Kerala with Athirappilly and Marari | ₹34,500 – 44,000 | ₹47,000 – 61,000 | ₹80,000 – 1,22,000 |
Airfare from Delhi: a return economy ticket on a non-stop Delhi–Kochi flight usually falls between ₹11,000 and ₹19,000 per person when booked four to six weeks ahead. Over Christmas, New Year and the Diwali week, ₹22,000–28,000 is common. An open-jaw ticket (Delhi–Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram–Delhi) normally costs about the same as a return and saves a 4-hour drive back north.
Extras we list on the quote: national park and boat tickets in Munnar and Thekkady, Kathakali or martial-arts show seats, jeep safaris to Kolukkumalai, any Ayurveda beyond the sessions named, meals not on the plan, and tips. Price differences between quotes almost always come down to the Munnar hotel, the houseboat class and whether you are in a sedan or an Innova Crysta.
Delhi to Kerala: IGI flights, the Rajdhani and the Kerala Express
Flights from Indira Gandhi International (DEL)
- Delhi–Kochi (COK): several airlines run non-stop flights every day, among them IndiGo and Air India, with a block time of about 3 hours 10–25 minutes. There are early-morning, afternoon and evening departures. Check whether yours leaves from Terminal 1, 2 or 3; the terminals are far apart.
- Delhi–Thiruvananthapuram (TRV): fewer non-stops, about 3½ hours. Ideal as the return leg if your trip finishes at Kovalam or Varkala.
- Delhi–Kozhikode (CCJ) or Kannur (CNN): mostly one-stop; we use these only for Wayanad-focused trips.
- Which flight to choose: the early-morning departure is the one that pays off. Land in Kochi before 9 am and you are in Munnar by mid-afternoon; take an evening flight and day one is just a hotel night in Kochi. On the way home, an afternoon flight out of Kochi or Thiruvananthapuram puts you back in Delhi for dinner.
By train
Two trains are worth knowing about, though for most Delhi travellers they are a curiosity rather than the plan:
- Kerala Express (12626): leaves New Delhi daily at about 8.10 pm and takes the inland route through Bhopal, Nagpur, Vijayawada and Coimbatore, reaching Ernakulam Town on the evening of day three and Thiruvananthapuram late that night – roughly 50 hours in all.
- Thiruvananthapuram Rajdhani (12432): leaves Hazrat Nizamuddin early in the morning on three days a week and runs via Vadodara and the Konkan Railway, about 42 hours end to end; the Konkan monsoon timetable adds a few hours between June and October.
Two nights on board each way eats four days of leave, so we suggest the train only for rail enthusiasts or for one direction on a long, unhurried trip.
Why the open-jaw route matters from Delhi
Kerala is long and thin. Kochi to Kovalam alone is about 220 km, 4½–5 hours by road. Flying into one end and out of the other means the drive south is part of the sightseeing, not a dead day at the end. For Delhi travellers, already spending two travel days on flights, that saved day makes a real difference.
Why six nights is the sensible minimum from Delhi
Count the hours. Leaving home in Gurugram, Noida or Dwarka two to three hours before a flight, three-odd hours in the air, and then 3½–4 hours by road from Kochi airport to Munnar – on arrival day you are travelling for nine to ten hours even on a morning flight. The return is similar. With four nights, only two full days remain for sightseeing, and one of those usually includes a 3–4 hour transfer.
| Nights | Full days left after two travel days | What realistically fits |
|---|---|---|
| 4 | About 2½ | Munnar and a houseboat, nothing more |
| 6 | About 4½ | Munnar, Thekkady, backwaters, Fort Kochi |
| 7 | About 5½ | The above plus a beach, out of Thiruvananthapuram |
| 8–9 | 6½–7½ | Everything, with rest days and Ayurveda |
If your leave is short, choose depth over breadth: four nights split between Munnar and Kumarakom is a better holiday than four nights trying to cover five towns.
Day-by-day: three Kerala routes for Delhi travellers
6 nights – the classic circuit, early flight in
- Dawn flight from IGI to Kochi; straight up to Munnar with a lunch stop at Adimali.
- Munnar: Eravikulam for the Nilgiri tahr, Mattupetty dam, the tea museum, evening walk in town.
- Morning jeep to Kolukkumalai sunrise (optional); afternoon drive to Thekkady.
- Thekkady: Periyar lake cruise, spice garden, Kathakali or Kalaripayattu after dark.
- Drive to Alleppey; board a private houseboat around noon; overnight on Vembanad.
- Fort Kochi: Dutch Palace, Jew Town, fishing nets and a sunset harbour cruise.
- Afternoon flight back to Delhi.
7 nights – winter-sun escape, Kochi in, Thiruvananthapuram out
- Morning flight to Kochi; heritage hotel in Fort Kochi, evening Kathakali.
- Drive to Munnar via Cheeyappara falls.
- Munnar at leisure – tea-estate walk, Top Station viewpoint.
- Down to Kumarakom; lake resort with a pool; village canoe ride at dusk.
- Alleppey houseboat day and night.
- South to Kovalam (about 4 hours); beach evening at the lighthouse.
- Kovalam: swim, Ayurveda massage, or a day out to Kanyakumari for the sunset.
- Padmanabhaswamy Temple in the morning (dress code), then the flight to Delhi.
8 nights – slow Kerala with Ayurveda, for couples and older parents
- Fly Delhi–Kochi; rest at an airport-area hotel.
- Athirappilly falls, then on to a quiet Munnar plantation resort.
- Munnar, gently: tea factory, garden, no long walks.
- Second full day in the hills; optional Marayoor sandalwood forest and dolmens.
- Drive to Kumarakom; afternoon on the lake by shikara-style boat.
- Kumarakom: bird sanctuary at dawn, Ayurveda consultation and first treatment.
- Marari beach resort; second treatment, sunset on the sand.
- Marari at leisure; seafood or sadya dinner.
- Transfer to Kochi airport (about 1½ hours) for the flight to Delhi.
Honeymoon couples from Delhi NCR often pick the 7-night version and add a private candle-light dinner on the houseboat and a sea-view room in Kovalam. Everything above is a private itinerary: change the order, drop a stop or add a night.
Escaping Delhi's winter: when the contrast is greatest
From early November, Delhi's air quality typically worsens as crop-residue smoke, cold still air and traffic combine, and by late December dense fog delays flights at IGI on many mornings. Kerala in the same weeks is warm, dry and breezy, with the cleanest air on the coast and in the hills. That is why our Delhi enquiries peak between mid-November and the end of January.
| Mid-December, typical | Day | Night | What it feels like |
|---|---|---|---|
| Delhi | 19–22°C | 6–9°C | Hazy, foggy mornings, poor air on many days |
| Kochi and Alleppey | 30–32°C | 22–24°C | Sunny, humid but pleasant by the water |
| Munnar | 20–23°C | 8–12°C | Cool and clear, like a Delhi October day |
| Kovalam | 30–31°C | 23–24°C | Beach weather, calm sea |
- Delhi schools' winter break: usually around 1–15 January for government schools; many private schools close from late December. Book flights by October for these dates.
- Fog and your flight: in late December and January, prefer a mid-morning departure from Delhi to the first flight of the day; fog delays are worst at dawn. Keep the first Kerala evening unplanned.
- Christmas and New Year: the most expensive fortnight. Fort Kochi and Kovalam fill first; Munnar and Thekkady have more choice.
- Holi and March: a good alternative – Delhi is warming up, Kerala hills are still pleasant, and rates drop after February.
- Delhi summer vacation (May–June): Munnar is the draw in May. The monsoon reaches Kerala around the start of June, so families travelling in June should plan for rain and Ayurveda rather than beaches.
Kerala through the year, compared with Delhi
| Month | Back in Delhi | In Kerala | Our verdict for Delhi travellers |
|---|---|---|---|
| January | Cold, foggy | Dry and sunny | Best escape; book early |
| February | Pleasant | Dry, warming | Excellent; honeymoon favourite |
| March | Warm, Holi | Hot coast, mild hills | Good value |
| April | Hot | Humid; Vishu festival | Hills only |
| May | Very hot | Hot, showers late in month | Munnar for summer vacation |
| June | Heat, then pre-monsoon | Monsoon arrives | Rain and Ayurveda |
| July | Monsoon | Peak rain | Lowest prices; treatments |
| August | Monsoon | Easing; boat races | Culture trips, long weekend of 15 August |
| September | Humid | Green, clearing | Underrated; good rates |
| October | Pleasant, Dussehra | Short showers | Good shoulder month |
| November | Smog season begins | Dry season starts | Strong pick after Diwali |
| December | Cold, fog | Dry and cool in hills | Peak demand and prices |
North Indian food in Kerala and packing from Delhi
Rotis, paneer and dal – how easy are they?
Easier than many Delhi families expect. Kochi has Punjabi and North Indian restaurants, and almost every 3-star and above hotel in Munnar, Thekkady and Kumarakom serves roti, dal, paneer and jeera rice on its menu, because so many guests come from the north. Kerala's own vegetarian food is worth trying at least once a day: the banana-leaf sadya, appam with stew, and Kerala parotta with vegetable kurma, which many Delhi travellers end up preferring to a hotel naan.
- On the houseboat: the cook makes chapati, dal and a dry sabzi if told in advance, alongside Kerala dishes. We write the menu preference on the voucher.
- Non-veg: Kerala fish is excellent – karimeen fry, prawn roast, fish moilee. Butter chicken lovers will find it in Kochi; in the hills, try the Kerala chicken roast instead.
- Spice and oil: food is milder on chilli than Delhi street food but uses coconut oil. Ask hotels to cook in refined oil if you prefer.
- Pure-veg and Jain: available with notice; Kochi has the most choice.
Packing for a 25°C swing
- You may leave Delhi at 8°C and land at 30°C. Wear layers on the flight and keep a T-shirt in hand luggage.
- Munnar needs a light jacket in December–January, nothing like Delhi woollens.
- Sunscreen, a hat and mosquito repellent for the backwaters; cotton clothes for the coast.
- A mundu or dhoti for men and saree or salwar for women if a temple is on the plan.
- Hindi is understood in tourist areas and by most drivers; English works everywhere.

How much does a Kerala tour package from Delhi cost?
Our Kerala packages currently start at ₹15,500 per person for 3 nights. Most of our Kerala packages fall between ₹23,500 and ₹40,000 per person. The final cost depends on the travel month, hotel category, number of travellers and whether flights from {$from} are added. Open any package below to see exactly what is included, or ask us for a quote with flights.
How long is the flight from Delhi to Kochi?
A non-stop flight from Indira Gandhi International to Kochi takes about 3 hours 10 to 25 minutes. Several airlines, including IndiGo and Air India, fly the route daily with morning, afternoon and evening options. Add two hours at IGI before departure and around 30 minutes at Kochi for bags and pick-up.
Is there a direct flight from Delhi to Thiruvananthapuram?
Yes, though there are fewer non-stops than to Kochi; the flight takes about 3 hours 30 minutes. We usually use Thiruvananthapuram for the return leg on trips that end at Kovalam or Varkala, which avoids a long drive back to Kochi on the last day.
Should I take the train from Delhi to Kerala?
Only if you enjoy long train journeys. The daily Kerala Express from New Delhi takes about 50 hours to Thiruvananthapuram, and the tri-weekly Rajdhani from Hazrat Nizamuddin about 42 hours via the Konkan coast. That is two nights each way, so most Delhi travellers fly, or take the train in one direction only.
Is four nights enough for Kerala from Delhi?
It is tight. With two travel days, four nights leaves about two and a half days on the ground, enough for Munnar and one houseboat night. Six nights adds Thekkady and Fort Kochi comfortably, and seven or eight nights adds a beach and Ayurveda without daily long drives.
What is the best time to visit Kerala from Delhi?
November to February, when Delhi is cold and hazy and Kerala is dry and warm. September and October are good value with green landscapes. In May, during Delhi summer vacations, focus on Munnar and the hills; from June to August Kerala has heavy monsoon rain, best for Ayurveda.
How early should I book Kerala for Christmas and New Year from Delhi?
Ideally by early October. Delhi–Kochi fares climb steeply for the last ten days of December, and good Fort Kochi and Kovalam hotels sell out. Munnar and Thekkady have more rooms, so a late booking can still work if you are flexible on the order of stops.
Will fog in Delhi affect my Kerala flight?
It can in late December and January, when dense morning fog delays departures at IGI. Choose a mid-morning flight rather than the first one of the day, keep the first evening in Kerala free, and book flights with the package so we can adjust pick-ups and hotel check-ins if the schedule moves.
Can North Indian families get roti and paneer in Kerala?
Yes. Most mid-range and better hotels in Kochi, Munnar, Thekkady and Kumarakom serve North Indian dishes, and Kochi has Punjabi restaurants. Houseboat cooks make chapati and dal on request. We note food preferences on every voucher so you do not have to explain them at each stop.
Is Kerala good for a honeymoon from Delhi?
Very. Seven nights lets you combine a Munnar valley-view room, a private houseboat with a candle-light dinner, a Kumarakom lake resort and a Kovalam beach, flying into Kochi and out of Thiruvananthapuram. February is the favourite month for Delhi couples, with dry weather and lower prices than December.
What clothes should Delhi travellers pack in winter?
Layers. Wear a jacket to the airport in Delhi and pack summer cotton for the coast. Munnar needs only a light sweater or shawl in the evenings. Add an umbrella, sunscreen, comfortable shoes and traditional wear for temples such as Padmanabhaswamy and Guruvayur.
Is Hindi spoken in Kerala?
In tourist areas, yes, enough to get by. Drivers, hotel staff and houseboat crews generally understand Hindi, and English is widely spoken. Malayalam is the local language; a few words of thanks, nanni, are appreciated. Your driver will help with shops and local stops.
