Andaman Tour Packages from Kolkata
A little over two hours from Dum Dum to Sri Vijaya Puram, Bengali spoken on every island and fresh fish at lunch – the Andamans planned around Puja holidays and Kolkata's dawn flights.
Of all the mainland cities, Kolkata has the oldest link with the Andaman Islands. The settlements on Havelock and Neil were founded by families from East Bengal, the Bengali community in Port Blair (now Sri Vijaya Puram) runs some of the best-loved fish hotels on the islands, and Durga Puja pandals go up there every autumn just as they do in Salt Lake and Behala. For a Kolkata family this is the one beach holiday where nobody needs a menu translated, the language at the market is familiar and the flight is shorter than a drive to Digha on a holiday weekend.
This page is written for travellers starting from Kolkata. It sets out realistic per-person costs, how the morning non-stops from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport fit the island ferry timetable, what the government passenger ship from Kolkata is really like in 2026, three day-wise plans, a section on using the Puja and winter breaks, a month-by-month table and honest notes on food, packing and money. Your holiday is planned by our team in Ahmedabad and booked on WhatsApp or phone; tickets, ferry confirmations and the invoice reach you as PDFs. The packages shown on this page carry live prices.

What an Andaman trip from Kolkata costs in 2026
Our Andaman packages start at ₹12,000 per person today, and 24 itineraries are currently on sale. The bands below are indicative ranges per person with two people sharing a room. They exclude the Kolkata–Port Blair airfare and include hotels with breakfast, every inter-island catamaran seat, a private AC vehicle for transfers and sightseeing on each island, Cellular Jail entry with the light-and-sound show, and the Ross Island and North Bay boat excursion.
| Nights and islands | Standard (3-star, simple beach cottages) | Deluxe (4-star resorts) | Premium (beachfront luxury) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 nights – Sri Vijaya Puram 2, Havelock 2 | ₹17,000 – 22,000 | ₹24,500 – 32,500 | ₹44,000 – 68,000 |
| 5 nights – adds one night on Neil | ₹20,500 – 27,000 | ₹30,000 – 39,500 | ₹54,000 – 84,000 |
| 6 nights – adds Baratang caves or an extra beach day | ₹25,000 – 32,000 | ₹35,500 – 47,500 | ₹64,000 – 98,000 |
| 7 nights – slow pace with Long Island or Chidiya Tapu | ₹29,000 – 37,000 | ₹41,500 – 55,000 | ₹74,000 – 1,18,000 |
Return airfare from Kolkata: CCU–IXZ return tickets usually sit between ₹11,000 and ₹19,000 per person when bought five to six weeks out. In the Puja fortnight, the Christmas–New Year week and the West Bengal summer break, the same seats can climb to ₹24,000 – 38,000. We book the flights along with the package so that the catamaran on day one matches your landing time.
Paid on the islands: scuba try dives at Havelock (roughly ₹4,500 – 7,500), the North Bay sea walk (about ₹3,500 – 4,000), glass-bottom boat and semi-submarine rides, the shared speedboat to Elephant Beach (about ₹1,000 – 1,500 per head), parasailing and jet ski, lunches and dinners, and tips. Each appears on the quote with an approximate figure so that you can budget before you fly.
Why two quotes for the "same" trip differ: the Havelock room decides most of it – a sea-facing villa near Radhanagar can cost three times a garden room near the market – followed by the ferry class (premium seats on Makruzz, Nautika or ITT Majestic against government boats) and the dates. The Puja weeks and the year-end fortnight cost 25–40% more than early November or March.
Kolkata to Port Blair: flights, the ship and the first-day plan
Non-stop flights from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (CCU)
- Who flies: as of October 2026, non-stop CCU–IXZ services are run by IndiGo, Air India Express and Akasa Air, with SpiceJet adding seats on some days. Together that is usually four to six departures a day, depending on season.
- Flying time: about 2 hours 10 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes over the Bay of Bengal into Veer Savarkar International Airport.
- Departure window: nearly every Kolkata flight leaves between about 5.30 am and 11 am, because Port Blair runs mainly daylight operations. That means leaving home in Howrah, Barasat or Garia at 3–4 am for the first flight; we suggest booking an app cab or a pick-up the evening before.
- Which flight to pick: anything landing by about 10.30 am lets us drive you from the airport to Haddo or Phoenix Bay jetty for an afternoon catamaran, so you sleep on Havelock on the first night. A late-morning departure from Kolkata means the first night is in Sri Vijaya Puram, which we then use for the Cellular Jail show.
- Baggage: most economy fares allow 15 kg in the hold, and catamarans cap luggage at roughly 20–25 kg per person. Soft bags travel more easily on the jetty than large hard suitcases.
The passenger ship from Kolkata (Kidderpore docks)
The Directorate of Shipping Services of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration still sails between Kolkata Port and Haddo Wharf in 2026. In May and June 2026, for example, MV Nalanda and MV Campbell Bay were scheduled on the Kolkata run; one June sailing left Kolkata on a Tuesday afternoon and was due in Sri Vijaya Puram on the Saturday. Before you build a holiday around it, know this:
- Frequency: irregular. Some months have one or two Kolkata sailings, some have none when a vessel is under repair. The schedule is usually published only two to three weeks ahead, and ticket sales open a few days before departure on the DSS e-ticketing portal and at STARS counters.
- Duration: about three and a half to four days, including the slow passage down the Hooghly before the ship reaches open sea. Weather can add a day.
- Classes: deluxe and first-class cabins, second class and open bunk class. Island residents get quota priority, and the cheapest berths go first.
- On board: canteen meals, fresh water rationed on longer voyages, limited mobile signal for most of the trip, and seasickness is common from May to September.
Our honest advice: the ship is an experience, not a saving, once you count the extra days of leave. If someone in the family has always wanted to sail to the islands, take the ship one way and fly back, and keep the first hotel night flexible. We check the published schedule when you enquire and tell you plainly whether a sailing fits; no package of ours depends on one. Rules and schedules are as of October 2026 and change, so we confirm before you book.
Island transfers after you land
- Sri Vijaya Puram to Havelock (Swaraj Dweep): about 1½–2½ hours by private catamaran.
- Havelock to Neil (Shaheed Dweep): about an hour.
- Neil back to Sri Vijaya Puram: about 1–1½ hours.
- Baratang: about three hours each way by road through the Jarawa reserve, in a fixed convoy; no stopping and no photography of the Jarawa people.
Three Andaman itineraries for Kolkata travellers
4 nights / 5 days – couples on the first CCU flight
- Day 1: Dawn flight from Kolkata. Straight from the airport to the jetty for the early-afternoon catamaran to Havelock; evening at Radhanagar Beach as the sun goes down.
- Day 2: Speedboat to Elephant Beach for snorkelling over shallow coral; afternoon free; dinner on the sand at your resort.
- Day 3: A beginner dive with a certified centre in the morning, or Kalapathar beach at sunrise and a lazy day.
- Day 4: Catamaran back to Sri Vijaya Puram. Corbyn's Cove in the afternoon and the light-and-sound show at the Cellular Jail after dark.
- Day 5: Morning flight back to Kolkata – you are home by lunchtime.
5 nights / 6 days – Puja-holiday family plan
- Day 1: Land mid-morning; rest after the early start. Samudrika Naval Marine Museum, then the Cellular Jail show. Children are usually moved by the freedom-struggle story, and grandparents often have their own memories of it.
- Day 2: Ross Island (Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep) – the British-era ruins, peacocks and deer – followed by North Bay for coral viewing from a glass-bottom boat.
- Day 3: Catamaran to Havelock; swim at Radhanagar, where the slope into the sea is gentle.
- Day 4: Elephant Beach or a quiet resort day if the sea is choppy after the October showers.
- Day 5: Ferry to Neil; Laxmanpur sunset and the natural rock formation at low tide.
- Day 6: Early ferry to Sri Vijaya Puram and the flight home, or an extra Port Blair night if the ferry timing is tight.
6 nights / 7 days – complete circuit with Baratang and grandparents in mind
- Day 1: Arrive and check in close to Aberdeen Bazaar; evening at Marina Park and Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex.
- Day 2: Ross and North Bay; Cellular Jail show.
- Day 3: Baratang day trip (a 3–4 am pick-up for the convoy, boat through mangroves to the limestone caves, mud volcano). Seniors who prefer to skip it get a Chidiya Tapu half-day instead.
- Day 4: To Havelock; ground-floor room, short walk to the beach.
- Day 5: Havelock at leisure; Elephant Beach for the younger members.
- Day 6: Neil, then the late ferry to Sri Vijaya Puram so that the last night is near the airport.
- Day 7: Flight to Kolkata.
All three are starting points. Every trip is private and customised: your own car on each island, your own dates, and joint families or friends' circles travelling together as a private group with ferry seats booked side by side.
Using the Puja, winter and summer breaks from Kolkata
Bengal's holiday calendar is unusual: the longest office break of the year falls in autumn rather than in summer. Here is how each break lines up with island weather.
- Durga Puja and Lakshmi Puja (late September to October, dates move every year): the busiest Andaman travel window for Kolkata. The south-west monsoon has normally ended but October can still bring showers and the odd cancelled ferry. Many families stay in the city for Saptami to Dashami and fly out on Ekadashi; flights around Dashami are cheaper than those before Shashthi. Book by July for these dates.
- Kali Puja and Bhai Phonta (October–November): a short break that often lines up with drier weather. A 4-night Havelock trip fits well.
- Christmas and the school winter holidays (late December): the best weather and the highest prices; rooms on Havelock sell out by September.
- Saraswati Puja and February weekends: calm sea, clear water and fewer tourists than December.
- Summer vacation (May): go early. The first half of May is hot but excellent for snorkelling; after about mid-May the monsoon reaches the islands, and water sports can be suspended.
| Month | Island weather | Suits Kolkata travellers for | Price level |
|---|---|---|---|
| January | Dry, 23–30°C, calm sea | Honeymoons after the winter wedding season | High |
| February | Dry, clearest water | Diving, Saraswati Puja long weekend | High |
| March | Warm, calm | Couples and seniors while children sit exams | Medium-high |
| April | Hot and humid, 26–33°C | Poila Baisakh trips, beach days | Medium-high |
| May | Hot; monsoon arrives mid-month | First fortnight of the summer break only | Medium |
| June – August | Heavy rain, rough sea | Budget travellers who accept cancellations | Lowest |
| September | Rain easing | Off-season value before Puja | Low |
| October | Showers, clearing late in the month | Puja holidays | High in Puja weeks |
| November | Mostly dry; Bay of Bengal cyclone alerts possible | Kali Puja break, honeymoons | Medium-high |
| December | Dry and pleasant | Christmas and New Year | Highest after 20 December |
One local tip: the Andamans and Kolkata sit in the same cyclone belt. If a depression is forecast in the Bay of Bengal in November, both your flight and the ferries can be disrupted. We watch IMD bulletins for you and rebook ferries before you have to ask.
Fish, food and practical tips for Kolkata travellers
Eating like a Bengali on the islands
- Sri Vijaya Puram: the easiest town for a Bengali meal. Small hotels around Aberdeen Bazaar and Junglighat serve rice, dal, alu bhaja and a fish jhol, and several will cook pomfret, red snapper or prawns in mustard if you ask in the morning. Bhetki and rui come from the mainland and are not always available; local sea fish is fresher.
- Havelock and Neil: both were settled by Bengali families, so village eateries near the market often serve simple Bengali-style meals. Beach-shack menus lean towards grilled seafood, pasta and pancakes. Ask the price per kilo before ordering lobster or crab.
- Vegetarian, no onion-garlic or Jain: easy in Sri Vijaya Puram, possible on Havelock with notice, basic on Neil. We put the requirement on each hotel voucher in writing.
- Sweets: rasgulla and sandesh are made locally in Sri Vijaya Puram; they are not the same as Bhim Chandra Nag's, but they help the homesick.
Practical points
- Permits and ID: Indian citizens need no permit for Sri Vijaya Puram, Havelock, Neil or Baratang as of October 2026, but must carry original photo ID; it is checked at the airport, at every jetty and on the Baratang convoy. Rules change, and we check before you book.
- Language: Bengali, Hindi and Tamil are all common; most drivers on Havelock speak Bengali.
- Money and network: ATMs are reliable in Sri Vijaya Puram, fewer on Havelock and patchy on Neil. Mobile data is slow outside the capital, so download your boarding passes and our PDF vouchers before leaving Kolkata.
- Packing: cotton clothes, a light rain jacket in October–November, reef-safe sunscreen, rubber slippers, a cap and motion-sickness tablets for the catamaran. You will not need the woollens you pack for Darjeeling.
- Diving and flying: plan any dive early in the trip, as you should not fly within 18–24 hours of a dive.
- Coral and shells: taking coral, shells or sand off the islands is an offence and bags are checked at the airport.

How much does a Andaman tour package from Kolkata cost?
Our Andaman packages currently start at ₹12,000 per person for 3 nights. Most of our Andaman packages fall between ₹20,750 and ₹36,500 per person. The final cost depends on the travel month, hotel category, number of travellers and whether flights from {$from} are added. Open any package below to see exactly what is included, or ask us for a quote with flights.
Is there a direct flight from Kolkata to Port Blair?
Yes. As of October 2026, IndiGo, Air India Express and Akasa Air fly non-stop from Kolkata (CCU) to Port Blair (IXZ), with SpiceJet on some days. The flight takes about 2 hours 10 to 2 hours 30 minutes, and almost all departures leave between dawn and late morning because the island airport runs mainly in daylight.
Does the ship from Kolkata to Andaman still run?
Yes, but irregularly. Government vessels such as MV Nalanda and MV Campbell Bay sailed from Kolkata in mid-2026. The voyage takes about three and a half to four days, schedules appear only two to three weeks ahead, and some months have no sailing. We treat the ship as an optional one-way leg, never the base of a plan.
How do I book the Kolkata–Port Blair ship ticket?
Tickets are sold by the Directorate of Shipping Services through its e-ticketing portal and at STARS counters, usually opening a few days before each sailing. Island residents have priority quotas and bunk berths sell out fast. Tell us your preferred class when you enquire and we will advise whether a sailing fits your dates.
Is Andaman a good choice for the Durga Puja holidays?
It works well if you accept some risk of showers. October is the tail of the rainy season, so the islands are green and the sea is settling, but a ferry can occasionally be cancelled. Flying out after Dashami is usually cheaper and drier than before Shashthi. Book by July for Puja dates.
Will we get Bengali food and fish in the Andamans?
Yes. Sri Vijaya Puram has small hotels serving rice, dal and fish curry, and many will cook prawns or pomfret in mustard if asked. Havelock and Neil were settled by Bengali families, so simple Bengali meals are available near the markets. Mainland fish such as rui and bhetki are not always on offer.
Can we reach Havelock on the same day from Kolkata?
Usually, if you take one of the early Kolkata departures that lands by about 10.30 am. We drive you from the airport to the jetty for an afternoon catamaran. With a later flight we plan the first night in Sri Vijaya Puram and use the evening for the Cellular Jail light-and-sound show.
How many days should we plan for Andaman from Kolkata?
Four nights covers Havelock and the capital for a couple on the first flight. Five nights adds Neil and suits families. Six or seven nights give you Baratang, a spare day for diving or weather, and an unhurried pace for grandparents. Short flights from Kolkata mean you lose little time getting there.
Is Andaman suitable for elderly parents from Kolkata?
Yes, with sensible planning. The flight is short, beaches like Radhanagar and Bharatpur slope gently and glass-bottom boats suit non-swimmers. We choose ground-floor rooms, avoid the very early Baratang convoy for seniors and keep one ferry per day. Carry prescriptions, as pharmacies on Neil are limited.
Do Indians need a permit to visit Havelock and Neil?
No permit is needed for Indian citizens visiting Sri Vijaya Puram, Havelock, Neil or Baratang as of October 2026. Carry original government photo ID for every family member, including children, because it is checked at the airport and jetties. Tribal reserves remain closed to visitors. Rules change, and we check before you book.
What is the cheapest month to visit Andaman from Kolkata?
June to September is cheapest, but it is the monsoon with rough seas. For a balance of fair weather and lower prices, look at September before Puja, early November after Kali Puja, and March. Fares from Kolkata are lowest on weekday mornings booked five to six weeks ahead.
Can I combine the Andamans with another holiday from Kolkata?
Flights from Port Blair go mainly to Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi and a few other cities, so combinations are limited. Families often do the islands in the Puja break and the hills later in the year; our Sikkim and Darjeeling packages from Kolkata make a good winter or spring partner.
