Hong Kong is the short-haul city break that Ahmedabad travellers tend to discover after Singapore and Dubai. It packs two of Asia's best theme parks, a skyline that looks best from the water, a cable car to the Big Buddha on Lantau and the old Portuguese lanes of Macau into one compact trip. Entry is simpler than most people expect: Indian passport holders do not apply for a visa at all for a short stay, only a free online Pre-arrival Registration that usually comes back within minutes. Macau, a 45-minute bus ride across the sea bridge, lets Indians in without a visa for up to 30 days.

What makes Hong Kong different from the usual Gujarati family itinerary is the pace. The city is steep, crowded and fast, and the MTR is so good that a car is rarely the smartest way to move. This guide explains how we plan around that for children and senior citizens, what a package really costs from Ahmedabad, which flight connections from SVPI Airport work best, how to split days between Hong Kong and Macau, and where vegetarian and Jain travellers eat well. Live packages with current prices are listed further down the page.

What a Hong Kong and Macau package costs from Ahmedabad (2026)

Our Hong Kong packages currently start at ₹29,999 per person, and 17 are on sale today. The bands below are per person on twin sharing and exclude the international flight from Ahmedabad. They include hotels with breakfast, private airport and hotel transfers, the Hong Kong–Macau crossing, a private half-day orientation of Hong Kong Island, and either Disneyland or Ocean Park tickets.

TripStandard (3-star, Kowloon / Mong Kok)Deluxe (4-star, Tsim Sha Tsui / Causeway Bay)Premium (5-star harbour view or Cotai resort)
3 nights Hong Kong only₹32,000 – 40,000₹42,000 – 55,000₹68,000 – 95,000
4 nights (3 Hong Kong + 1 Macau)₹38,000 – 48,000₹50,000 – 65,000₹80,000 – 1,15,000
5 nights (Disneyland and Ocean Park both)₹46,000 – 58,000₹60,000 – 78,000₹95,000 – 1,35,000
6 nights (adds a Disneyland hotel night or Shenzhen day)₹54,000 – 68,000₹70,000 – 92,000₹1,10,000 – 1,60,000

Why Hong Kong hotels cost more for less space: a 3-star double room in Kowloon is often 12–15 square metres. Families of four usually need two rooms or a triple, and that, more than the star rating, decides the price. We tell you room size in the quote so that nobody is surprised at check-in.

Typical extras on the ground: the Peak Tram and Sky Terrace, Ngong Ping 360 cable car (the crystal cabin costs more), lunches and dinners, Octopus card top-ups for the MTR, the Macau Tower observation deck, Disneyland Premier Access passes on busy days, and tips. We list estimates for each of these on your quote.

Return airfare from Ahmedabad: one-stop economy fares usually fall around ₹35,000–55,000 per person return when booked six to eight weeks ahead. Diwali week, Christmas and the May vacation can push that to ₹60,000 or more. We book flights with the package so that late arrivals and early departures are matched with the right transfer and hotel night.

Flight connections from Ahmedabad

There is no non-stop flight between Ahmedabad and Hong Kong. Every itinerary from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport has one stop, and the choice of connection changes the shape of your first day.

ViaTypical airlinesTotal time (about)What to know
Mumbai or DelhiAir India, IndiGo, Cathay Pacific on the international leg8–11 hoursMost frequent options; check whether the domestic and international legs are on one ticket, so bags are checked through
SingaporeSingapore Airlines10–12 hoursNon-stop from Ahmedabad to Changi, then a 4-hour hop; easy to add 2 nights of Singapore
BangkokThai Airways and others8½–11 hoursOften the shortest total time; a Bangkok stopover is possible
Kuala LumpurMalaysia Airlines, AirAsia10–14 hoursCan be cheaper; budget carriers charge separately for bags and meals

Hong Kong is 2½ hours ahead of India. Overnight connections land in the morning, which works if you can rest on the plane; senior travellers usually prefer a daytime routing and an evening arrival, with the first sightseeing the next morning.

Hong Kong Pre-arrival Registration (PAR)

  • Indian passport holders can stay in Hong Kong for up to 14 days without a visa, but each traveller must complete PAR online with the Hong Kong Immigration Department before departure. Children need their own registration.
  • PAR is free and the result normally appears on screen straight away. A successful registration is valid for six months, or until the passport expires if that is sooner, and covers multiple trips of up to 14 days each.
  • Print the notification slip on plain A4 paper and carry it with the same passport used to register. Airlines check it at the Ahmedabad or connecting counter.
  • PAR is not a guarantee of entry. Officers at the airport can still ask for a return ticket, hotel booking and proof of funds. If PAR is unsuccessful, a visa application is needed and takes weeks, so register as soon as flights are booked.

Macau

  • Indian passport holders can currently enter Macau without a visa for up to 30 days. Carry your return ticket, hotel confirmation and a credit card or cash, as officers may ask about funds.
  • Leaving Hong Kong for Macau and coming back uses one of your Hong Kong entries; a valid PAR covers re-entry within its validity.

These rules are as of October 2026; rules change – we check before you book. We prepare the PAR with you and keep a copy, but approval and entry are at the discretion of the immigration authorities of Hong Kong and Macau.

Hong Kong to Macau: bridge bus or ferry

Most Hong Kong packages include Macau, and how you cross matters more than people think, especially with luggage, children or elderly parents.

  • Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge (HZMB): the 55 km sea bridge opened in 2018. You go to the Hong Kong Port near the airport, clear exit immigration and board a shuttle bus that runs round the clock, every few minutes at busy times. The crossing takes about 40–45 minutes. It suits travellers flying in or out of Hong Kong airport, because the port is next door.
  • Ferry: TurboJet and Cotai Water Jet run high-speed ferries from Sheung Wan (Hong Kong Island) and Tsim Sha Tsui (Kowloon) to Macau's Outer Harbour and Taipa terminals in about an hour. Better if your Hong Kong hotel is in the city and your Macau hotel is in Cotai. Large suitcases may carry an extra charge.
  • Our usual plan: fly into Hong Kong, spend three nights in the city, cross to Macau by ferry with light bags, then take the bridge bus back to the airport on departure day. Big bags can stay at the Hong Kong hotel if you return there.
  • Macau in a day or overnight: a day trip covers the Ruins of St Paul's, Senado Square and the Venetian, but you miss Cotai lit up at night. One night is the better balance; two only if you want a resort stay.

Three Hong Kong itineraries for travellers from Ahmedabad

4 nights / 5 days – first visit with Macau

  • Day 1: Fly Ahmedabad to Hong Kong with one connection. Private transfer to a Kowloon hotel. Evening walk on the Tsim Sha Tsui promenade and the Symphony of Lights at 8 pm.
  • Day 2: Hong Kong Island with a private guide: Peak Tram to Victoria Peak, Aberdeen harbour, Repulse Bay beach and Stanley Market. Star Ferry back across the harbour at dusk.
  • Day 3: Full day at Hong Kong Disneyland or Ocean Park – choose one. Disneyland suits children under ten; Ocean Park suits teenagers who want rides, plus pandas and the aquarium.
  • Day 4: Ferry to Macau. Ruins of St Paul's, Senado Square, A-Ma Temple, then check in on the Cotai Strip. Evening at the Venetian canals and the Parisian's Eiffel Tower replica.
  • Day 5: Bridge bus from Macau to Hong Kong airport and fly home.

5 nights / 6 days – family with children and grandparents

  • Day 1: Arrive, transfer to a hotel close to an MTR station with lifts, early night.
  • Day 2: Disneyland. We book a nearby or on-site hotel on request so grandparents can rest at midday and return for the evening show.
  • Day 3: Ngong Ping 360 cable car to the Tian Tan Buddha and Po Lin Monastery (vegetarian lunch at the monastery). The 268 steps up to the Buddha are optional; seniors can see it well from the plaza at the base.
  • Day 4: Ocean Park in the morning, Ladies' Market and Temple Street night market in the evening.
  • Day 5: Macau with a private car on arrival: the old town in the morning, Macau Tower, and a quiet resort afternoon.
  • Day 6: Return to Hong Kong airport by bridge bus; fly to Ahmedabad.

6 nights / 7 days – Singapore and Hong Kong combined

  • Day 1–2: Non-stop Singapore Airlines from Ahmedabad to Singapore; two nights for Sentosa and Gardens by the Bay.
  • Day 3: Fly Singapore to Hong Kong (about 4 hours); evening harbour cruise.
  • Day 4–5: Peak, island tour and one theme park.
  • Day 6: Macau overnight.
  • Day 7: Fly home via Singapore. This combination needs a Singapore visa as well; we handle both sets of paperwork. See our Singapore packages from Ahmedabad for that half of the trip.

Every itinerary is private and customised to your own dates. In Hong Kong we use private transfers for arrival, departure and the guided island day, and the MTR or taxis for the rest, because traffic on Hong Kong Island makes a full-day car slower than the train.

Disneyland, Ocean Park and the big sights: which to pick

SightBest forTime neededHonest note
Hong Kong DisneylandChildren 3–10, Disney fansFull daySmaller than Tokyo or US parks; the World of Frozen area is the new draw; weekdays are far less crowded
Ocean ParkTeenagers, ride lovers, animal loversFull dayBuilt on a hillside with a cable car between the two halves; giant pandas and a large aquarium
Victoria PeakEveryone2–3 hoursQueues for the Peak Tram can exceed an hour on weekends; we go early or take a taxi up and the tram down
Ngong Ping 360 and Big BuddhaFamilies, seniors who like quiet placesHalf dayThe cable car closes in high wind; we keep a backup day
Star Ferry and harbourEveryone, especially couples1 hourCheap, short and the best skyline view in the city
Macau old townHistory, photography, shopping for almond cookiesHalf dayCobbled and crowded around St Paul's at midday
Cotai Strip resortsEvenings, shopping, showsEveningGaming floors are for over-21s only; the resorts themselves are open to families

Families who want both theme parks should plan five nights. Squeezing Disneyland and Ocean Park into consecutive days is possible but tiring for anyone over sixty.

Typhoon signals are part of Hong Kong summer. When the No. 8 signal is raised, theme parks, ferries and many shops close for the day. For Diwali and May dates, book flights eight to ten weeks ahead – connections via Mumbai and Delhi fill early with families from all over India.

Vegetarian and Jain food, and practical tips for Gujarati families

Eating pure-veg in Hong Kong and Macau

  • Tsim Sha Tsui: the easiest area. Several Indian vegetarian restaurants, including Gujarati and Rajasthani thali places, sit within walking distance of Nathan Road; Jain food is available on request at a few of them. This is one reason we place most families in Kowloon.
  • Chinese vegetarian: Buddhist vegetarian restaurants are common across Hong Kong and cook without meat or fish, though onion and garlic may still be used. The vegetarian meal at Po Lin Monastery is fully plant-based.
  • Theme parks: both Disneyland and Ocean Park have Indian or vegetarian counters, but the choice is narrow. Carry snacks for children.
  • Macau: harder. Large Cotai resorts have Indian restaurants and room service can do simple veg dishes; in the old town, vegetarian options are mostly limited to bakeries and a few cafes. Honest advice: eat your main meal at the resort.
  • Jain travellers: we confirm Jain meals in writing with the hotels and Indian restaurants we book, but street food and dim sum are not safe choices. Packing khakhra, thepla and ready-to-eat dal is sensible; Hong Kong customs allows dry vegetarian food for personal use.

Tips that make the trip easier

  • Buy an Octopus card on arrival; it works on the MTR, buses, Star Ferry, trams and convenience stores.
  • Hong Kong involves more walking and stairs than Singapore. For seniors we choose hotels with direct MTR access and avoid hilly Mid-Levels addresses.
  • Plugs are the three-pin UK type; carry an adapter.
  • Macau uses the pataca, but Hong Kong dollars are accepted almost everywhere at par; change will usually come back in patacas.
  • Indian rupees cannot be exchanged easily on arrival; carry a forex card or some Hong Kong dollars from Ahmedabad.
  • Credit cards work widely, but small shops and taxis prefer cash or Octopus.

Why plan Hong Kong with Vibrant Holidays

  • An Ahmedabad office you can visit: plan the trip across a desk at our C G Road office near Swastik Cross Roads, or on WhatsApp and phone if that is easier. We have been arranging holidays since 2015.
  • PAR done with you, not left to you: we sit with each traveller's passport details, check the registration slips and keep copies, so nobody is stopped at the check-in counter.
  • Connections chosen for your family: we compare Mumbai, Delhi, Singapore and Bangkok routings for total time, layover length and baggage rules, not only the cheapest fare.
  • Rooms sized honestly: Hong Kong rooms are small; we state the room size and bed type for every hotel and suggest connecting rooms for families.
  • Support during the trip: a 24×7 WhatsApp line for the days you are away, vouchers and invoices as PDF. IATA-accredited; member of TAAI, TAFI, ADTOI and IATO; recognised by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.

Hong Kong tour from Ahmedabad: FAQs

How much does a Hong Kong tour package from Ahmedabad cost?

Our Hong Kong packages currently start at ₹29,999 per person for 3 nights. Most of our Hong Kong packages fall between ₹37,800 and ₹75,000 per person. The final cost depends on the travel month, hotel category, number of travellers and whether flights from {$from} are added. Open any package below to see exactly what is included, or ask us for a quote with flights.

Do Indians need a visa for Hong Kong?

Not for a short visit. Indian passport holders can stay up to 14 days after completing the free online Pre-arrival Registration with the Hong Kong Immigration Department. The result usually appears instantly and stays valid for six months. Print the slip and carry it with your passport. This is as of October 2026, and entry remains at the officer's discretion.

Is there a direct flight from Ahmedabad to Hong Kong?

No. All options from Ahmedabad have one stop, most commonly Mumbai, Delhi, Singapore or Bangkok. Total journey time is usually about 8 to 12 hours depending on the layover. A routing via Singapore on Singapore Airlines lets you add two nights in Singapore without much extra flying.

Do I need a separate visa for Macau?

Currently no. Indian passport holders can enter Macau visa-free for up to 30 days. Carry your return ticket, hotel confirmation and a card or some cash in case officers ask about funds. Coming back into Hong Kong uses another entry on your existing PAR, so no new registration is needed while it is valid.

How many days are enough for Hong Kong and Macau?

Four nights covers the essentials: Hong Kong Island, one theme park and one night in Macau. Five nights is better for families who want both Disneyland and Ocean Park. With grandparents travelling, six nights lets you keep each day light and add a rest afternoon at the hotel.

Disneyland or Ocean Park – which is better for my children?

Disneyland suits children up to about ten, with gentle rides, characters and the evening show. Ocean Park suits older children and teenagers who want roller coasters, and also has giant pandas and a large aquarium. If the family has both age groups, plan five nights and do one park each on separate days.

Is vegetarian and Jain food easy to find in Hong Kong?

Vegetarian food is easy in Tsim Sha Tsui, where there are Indian thali restaurants, and Buddhist vegetarian restaurants exist across the city. Jain food is available at a few Indian restaurants with notice. Macau is harder outside the big resorts. We confirm meal preferences with hotels in writing and suggest packing some dry snacks.

How do we get from Hong Kong to Macau?

Either by high-speed ferry from Sheung Wan or Tsim Sha Tsui, about one hour, or by shuttle bus across the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge from the port near the airport, about 45 minutes. We usually suggest the ferry going out from the city and the bridge bus coming back, because it drops you close to the airport.

Is Hong Kong suitable for senior citizens?

Yes, with planning. The city has slopes, stairs and crowds, so we choose hotels with direct MTR access and lifts, use private transfers on arrival and departure, and keep one major sight per day. The Peak, Star Ferry and Big Buddha are all manageable. We avoid back-to-back theme park days for older travellers.

Which is the best time to visit Hong Kong from Ahmedabad?

October to early December has clear skies and comfortable temperatures, and it matches the Diwali vacation. March and April are also pleasant. May is warm and humid but popular for summer holidays. June to September brings typhoon signals that can close parks and ferries for a day, so keep the plan flexible then.

Can I combine Hong Kong with Singapore or Thailand?

Yes. Singapore and Hong Kong are about four hours apart by air, and Bangkok is under three. A seven-night Singapore and Hong Kong trip is a popular combination for families. Singapore needs its own visa, which we prepare and submit; approval is at the authority's discretion. Thailand entry rules change often, so we check before booking.

How much money should I carry for Hong Kong?

Budget roughly HKD 400 to 700 per person per day beyond the package for meals, MTR travel, the Peak Tram and shopping, more if you shop seriously. A forex card works widely. Keep some Hong Kong dollars in cash for small shops, and note that they are accepted in Macau too.
