Nepal Tour Packages from Ahmedabad
Pashupatinath aarti, Muktinath darshan, Pokhara lakes and Chitwan rhinos – routed from SVPI through Delhi or Varanasi, with the right ID for every family member checked before you fly.
Ask a Gujarati family why they want to go to Nepal and the answer is usually a person: a grandmother who has waited years to see Pashupatinath, a father who wants the 108 spouts at Muktinath, or a couple who want the Himalaya without a visa queue. Nepal delivers all of that at short-haul cost. There is no visa for Indians, Hindi works in hotels and taxis, and Kathmandu is a single connection away from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
What makes a Nepal trip from Ahmedabad go smoothly is the planning before you leave: which connection to take, which ID each traveller carries, how to handle the Jomsom flight to Muktinath, and which months clash with Diwali crowds. This page covers those points for travellers from Ahmedabad and the rest of Gujarat, with per-person price bands, three day-wise plans, a month table matched to Gujarat school holidays, and honest notes on vegetarian and Jain food. The packages shown carry live prices, and every trip is private: your dates, your car, your pace.

Nepal package costs for Ahmedabad travellers (2026)
The lowest live price among our Nepal packages today is ₹10,499 per person. The bands below are per person with two sharing a room, and they cover hotels with breakfast and dinner, a private vehicle with a Hindi-speaking driver, sightseeing as listed and airport transfers in Nepal. They do not include the flight from Ahmedabad.
| Plan | Standard | Deluxe | Premium |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 nights: Kathmandu valley with Pashupatinath and Bhaktapur | ₹14,000 – 19,000 | ₹21,000 – 28,000 | ₹36,000 – 52,000 |
| 6 nights: Kathmandu and Pokhara, internal flight one way | ₹24,000 – 31,000 | ₹33,000 – 43,000 | ₹55,000 – 80,000 |
| 7 nights: Kathmandu, Pokhara and Chitwan for families | ₹27,000 – 35,000 | ₹38,000 – 50,000 | ₹62,000 – 90,000 |
| 8 nights: darshan circuit with Muktinath by Jomsom flight and jeep | ₹45,000 – 56,000 | ₹58,000 – 72,000 | ₹88,000 – 1,20,000 |
Airfare from Ahmedabad: a return ticket to Kathmandu with one stop in Delhi typically costs ₹15,000 – 24,000 per person when bought five or six weeks ahead. Routing through Varanasi on the way out, with a night in Kashi, usually lands in a similar range. Diwali week and the last ten days of May can push fares to ₹28,000 or more because both legs fill up with holiday traffic.
Paid locally unless you ask us to add it: the Everest mountain flight, the Muktinath helicopter upgrade, the Manakamana cable car, Durbar Square entry tickets in Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur, boating on Phewa lake, paragliding at Sarangkot, extra Chitwan activities, lunches and tips. Our quotes show each one on its own line with a current estimate, so you can decide what to prepay.
Why two quotes for "the same" Nepal trip differ: check whether Kathmandu–Pokhara is by flight or a seven-hour drive, whether Muktinath includes both Jomsom flights, and whether the hotel in Kathmandu is in Thamel or near Pashupatinath. Those three lines explain most gaps.
Flying from Ahmedabad to Kathmandu: the three routings that work
As of October 2026 there is no non-stop flight between Ahmedabad and Kathmandu, so every itinerary has one connection. Which one you choose changes your first day.
| Routing | How it runs | Total journey (approx.) | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| SVPI – Delhi – Kathmandu | Several daily Ahmedabad–Delhi flights, then Air India, IndiGo or Nepal Airlines to Kathmandu | 5½ – 8 hours with the connection | Most trips; widest choice of times |
| SVPI – Varanasi, night in Kashi, then Varanasi – Kathmandu | Non-stop Ahmedabad–Varanasi on IndiGo and SpiceJet (about 2 hours), then Buddha Air to Kathmandu about three days a week (about 1 hour) | Split over two days | Families who want Kashi Vishwanath and Pashupatinath in one trip |
| SVPI – Mumbai or Kolkata – Kathmandu | One-stop on full-service or low-cost carriers | 6 – 9 hours | Peak dates when Delhi connections are full |
- Book both legs on one ticket where possible. Bags are checked through and a delay on the Ahmedabad leg becomes the airline's problem. When the Varanasi stop is a deliberate night halt, we keep the two tickets separate and build in a full day.
- Choose a morning departure from Ahmedabad. You then land in Kathmandu by mid-afternoon and can attend the evening aarti at Pashupatinath on day one without rushing.
- Clocks: Nepal runs 15 minutes ahead of Indian time, which catches people out on the return flight.
- Delhi T3 and international transfers: the Kathmandu flight departs from the international side, so immigration and security are repeated in Delhi. Allow at least three hours between flights.
By train and road via Gorakhpur and Sunauli
Some joint families and community groups from Gujarat prefer the train. Expresses from Ahmedabad Junction (Kalupur) and Sabarmati run to Gorakhpur, roughly 30–36 hours depending on the service. From Gorakhpur it is about 3 hours by road to the Sunauli border, then Bhairahawa on the Nepal side, Lumbini (40 minutes away) for the Buddha's birthplace, and about 7 hours by road to Pokhara or 8–9 hours to Kathmandu. It saves airfare for large parties but costs two extra days each way and is tiring for grandparents. We plan it on request with a private coach from Gorakhpur, and suggest flying home at least one way.
ID, money and paperwork for Gujarati families going to Nepal
Indians need no visa for Nepal, but airlines in Delhi or Varanasi will refuse boarding without the right document. This is the single most common reason a Nepal holiday goes wrong, so we check every traveller's ID when you book. The position below is as of October 2026; rules change – we check before you book.
| Traveller | What to carry (originals only) | Our advice |
|---|---|---|
| Adults 18–65 | Indian passport valid for six months, or Election Commission Voter ID (EPIC) | Aadhaar, PAN and driving licence are not accepted travel documents for this age group |
| Children 15–18 | Passport, or an identity certificate from the school principal in the prescribed format | A passport avoids arguments at check-in |
| Children under 15 | Relaxed rule: photo ID showing age, plus proof of relationship to the accompanying adult | Carry a passport or birth certificate with the school ID |
| Seniors over 65 | Relaxed rule: photo ID showing age; Aadhaar has been notified as acceptable for this group | Airline staff do not always apply the relaxation; a Voter ID or passport is safer |
Printouts, photocopies and phone images of documents are not accepted. Keep originals in the cabin bag, not the checked suitcase.
Rupees in Nepal: what changed in 2026
- ₹100 and smaller notes are used freely across Nepal at the fixed rate of ₹100 = NPR 160.
- ₹200 and ₹500 notes: for almost ten years these were not allowed. In 2026 Nepal Rastra Bank permitted post-2016 ₹200 and ₹500 notes within the overall limit of ₹25,000 per person, and banks, money changers and hotels can exchange up to that amount. Small shops, temple stalls and taxi drivers may still refuse big notes, so carry a bundle of ₹100 notes for daily spending.
- Cards and UPI: Indian cards work at hotels and larger shops; Indian UPI apps work at a growing number of Nepali QR counters, but do not count on it in Jomsom or Chitwan.
- Annapurna Conservation Area permit is needed for Muktinath and is included in our darshan packages.

- Days 6–7: Drive to Chitwan (4–5 hours). Jeep safari for one-horned rhino, canoe on the Rapti, Tharu cultural evening.
- Day 8: Short flight Bharatpur–Kathmandu and connection home.
These are starting points. Every trip is a private, customised itinerary, so extended families and friends can travel as a private group on their own dates, with a larger vehicle and rooms on the same floor.
Muktinath for senior travellers: jeep or helicopter
Muktinath sits at about 3,710 m, and Ahmedabad is barely 50 m above sea level. The question we discuss with most families is how a parent in their late sixties or seventies should do it.
| Jomsom flight and jeep | Helicopter from Pokhara | |
|---|---|---|
| Time needed | Two days with a night in Jomsom (about 2,700 m) | Half a day, back in Pokhara by lunch |
| Altitude exposure | One night at altitude; some feel headache or poor sleep | About an hour at the temple, no night up high |
| Weather risk | Jomsom flights run only in the early morning and are often cancelled; needs a spare day | Also weather-dependent, but easier to shift by a few hours |
| Walking | Short uphill walk from the jeep point to the temple; ponies and porters available | Landing close to the temple, with a short walk |
| Cost | Included in the darshan bands above | Roughly ₹70,000 – 1,00,000 extra per person on a shared flight |
- Anyone with heart, lung or blood-pressure issues should get a doctor's clearance and, in most cases, choose the helicopter.
- Carry warm layers in every month; the wind at Muktinath is strong after 11 am.
- Bathing under the 108 spouts and in the two kunds is icy cold; many seniors take only a symbolic sprinkle.
When to go: Nepal months against the Gujarat calendar
| Period | Conditions in Nepal | Gujarat holiday fit | Price level |
|---|---|---|---|
| Late Sep – Oct | Monsoon clears, Dashain festival, clear Annapurna views | Navratri week; good for couples | High |
| November | Dry, sunny days, cold nights; Tihar (Nepal's Diwali) | Diwali vacation – 8 November 2026 is Diwali | Peak in Diwali fortnight |
| December – January | Cold, clear; snow can shut the Muktinath road | Christmas break, Uttarayan weekend | Moderate |
| February – early March | Cool and dry; Maha Shivaratri draws huge crowds at Pashupatinath | Avoid Shivaratri week unless that is the goal | Moderate, high around Shivaratri |
| March – April | Warm, rhododendrons in bloom | Holi; post-exam trips | Moderate |
| May – early June | Hot in Kathmandu and Chitwan, pleasant in Pokhara and Muktinath | Summer vacation; the busiest family window | High |
| Mid June – September | Monsoon; landslides, frequent Jomsom cancellations, Chitwan lodges partly closed | Shravan pilgrims to Pashupatinath; not for Muktinath by road | Lowest |
For Diwali and May dates, book flights and the better Kathmandu and Pokhara hotels by August and February respectively. Outside those windows, four weeks' notice is usually enough.
Vegetarian, Jain and Gujarati food in Nepal
- Everyday meals: dal-bhat with vegetables and achar is Nepal's staple and is vegetarian. Thakali thali along the Jomsom route is a pleasant surprise for most Gujarati travellers.
- Gujarati and Marwari food: Kathmandu has a handful of Gujarati and Rajasthani thali restaurants, and Pokhara Lakeside has pure-veg Indian kitchens. We note the names on your itinerary.
- Jain meals: possible at the hotels we use in Kathmandu and Pokhara with a day's notice. In Jomsom and Chitwan menus are limited, so we pre-order and suggest you carry thepla, khakhra and dry snacks.
- Non-veg in the same kitchen: most hotel kitchens cook meat too. If that matters to your family, say so and we choose properties accordingly.
- Water: drink sealed or filtered water only; most hotels provide it free.
Practical points
- Pashupatinath's inner courtyard is open only to Hindus; leather belts and bags are not allowed inside.
- Carry a shawl or jacket even in May: Kathmandu evenings cool down quickly.
- Indian mobile roaming packs work in cities; coverage in Mustang and Chitwan is patchy.
- Kathmandu traffic is slow; we keep each sightseeing day to one area of the valley.

How much does a Nepal tour package from Ahmedabad cost?
Our Nepal packages currently start at ₹10,499 per person for 3 nights. Most of our Nepal packages fall between ₹21,999 and ₹38,500 per person. The final cost depends on the travel month, hotel category, number of travellers and whether flights from {$from} are added. Open any package below to see exactly what is included, or ask us for a quote with flights.
Is there a direct flight from Ahmedabad to Kathmandu?
Not as of October 2026. The usual routing is Ahmedabad–Delhi–Kathmandu on one ticket, about 5½ to 8 hours including the connection. Families combining Kashi with Nepal fly non-stop to Varanasi, stay a night or two and take Buddha Air to Kathmandu, which operates about three days a week. Mumbai and Kolkata connections help on peak dates.
Which ID does my family need to fly from Ahmedabad to Nepal?
Adults need an original Indian passport or Election Commission Voter ID; Aadhaar, PAN and driving licence are not accepted for them. Children under 15 and seniors over 65 have a relaxed rule based on age-proof photo ID, but check-in staff do not always apply it, so we advise a passport, Voter ID or birth certificate. As of October 2026; rules change – we check before you book.
Can I carry ₹500 notes to Nepal now?
Yes, with limits. In 2026 Nepal Rastra Bank allowed post-2016 ₹200 and ₹500 notes within the ₹25,000 per person cap, and banks, money changers and hotels can exchange that amount. Small shops, taxis and temple stalls may still prefer ₹100 notes, which go at ₹100 to NPR 160. Old demonetised notes remain banned. Rules can change, so we recheck before you travel.
Can we see Kashi Vishwanath and Pashupatinath on one trip from Ahmedabad?
Yes, and it is one of our most requested plans for parents. Fly non-stop from Ahmedabad to Varanasi, spend one or two nights for the Ganga aarti and Kashi Vishwanath, then take the short Buddha Air flight to Kathmandu. Return via Delhi. The Varanasi–Kathmandu flight runs only on certain days, so we fix the Kashi nights around it.
Is Muktinath suitable for my parents in their seventies?
Many seniors manage it, but the method matters. The Jomsom flight and jeep route needs a night at about 2,700 m and a spare day for weather. The helicopter from Pokhara keeps them at the temple for about an hour and avoids sleeping at altitude. Anyone with heart, lung or blood-pressure conditions should take a doctor's advice and usually choose the helicopter.
Can we travel from Ahmedabad to Nepal by train?
Yes. Trains from Ahmedabad and Sabarmati reach Gorakhpur in roughly 30–36 hours. From there it is about 3 hours to the Sunauli border, with Lumbini close by, then 7 to 9 hours by road to Pokhara or Kathmandu. It suits large groups watching their budget, but adds about two days each way, so we usually suggest flying back.
How many days do we need for Nepal from Ahmedabad?
Four nights is enough for Kathmandu, Pashupatinath and Bhaktapur. Six nights adds Pokhara comfortably. Seven nights fits Kathmandu, Pokhara and Chitwan for families. A Muktinath darshan trip needs eight nights because the Jomsom flight is weather-dependent and needs a spare day. Adding Varanasi on the way adds one or two nights.
Is Jain food available in Nepal?
In Kathmandu and Pokhara, yes – the hotels we use will cook without onion, garlic or root vegetables if told a day ahead, and a few Indian restaurants understand Jain needs. In Jomsom and Chitwan the kitchens are small, so we pre-order and suggest you carry thepla, khakhra and dry snacks for those days.
When is the best time to visit Nepal from Gujarat?
October and November give the clearest mountain views and fit the Diwali vacation, though prices peak then. March to May is warm and green and matches the summer holidays; Pokhara and Muktinath stay pleasant in May. Avoid mid-June to September for Muktinath because of landslides and cancelled Jomsom flights. Maha Shivaratri brings very large crowds to Pashupatinath.
Can we do Nepal as a large family or community group from Ahmedabad?
Yes. Every trip we plan is private, and extended families, society members and friends often travel as a private group on their own dates. We arrange a coach or several vehicles, hotels where everyone stays together, a common veg menu and darshan timings that suit the elders. Groups of 20 or more sometimes choose the train-and-road route.
Do Indian mobile phones and UPI work in Nepal?
Indian operators sell roaming packs for Nepal, and a local SIM is cheap at Kathmandu airport with a passport or Voter ID copy. Indian UPI apps now work at some Nepali QR counters, mostly in Kathmandu and Pokhara. Coverage is weak in Mustang and parts of Chitwan, so keep cash in ₹100 notes or Nepali rupees.
