Two Nepals on one page – the Pashupatinath–Manakamana–Muktinath darshan circuit for parents, and Kathmandu–Pokhara–Chitwan for couples and families – 21 packages, all ex-Ahmedabad.
Nepal is the easiest foreign country for an Indian family to visit: no visa, no currency headache, Hindi understood everywhere, and a temple circuit that Gujarati parents have wanted to complete for years. From Ahmedabad it is a morning flight to Delhi and a short hop over the Himalaya to Kathmandu, and you can be at Pashupatinath for the evening aarti the same day.
We run two kinds of Nepal trips. Nepal Darshan covers Pashupatinath, Manakamana and Muktinath with jeep or helicopter options and is built for travellers aged 55 and above. Nepal Leisure is the Kathmandu–Pokhara–Chitwan loop for honeymooners and families, with the Everest mountain flight as the highlight. All 21 live packages are below, followed by prices, routing from Ahmedabad, the documents you actually need, and a month-wise planner.

Nepal tour package price guide (2026)
Nepal packages on this page start at ₹10,499 per person. Land costs in Nepal are reasonable; what moves the total is the number of internal flights (Kathmandu–Pokhara, Pokhara–Jomsom) and whether Muktinath is done by jeep or helicopter. Bands below are per person on twin sharing with breakfast and dinner, private transfers and sightseeing, excluding flights from Ahmedabad.
| Trip | Standard (3★) | Deluxe (4★) | Premium (5★ / heritage) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3N/4D Kathmandu + Pashupatinath | ₹11,000 – 15,000 | ₹17,000 – 23,000 | ₹32,000+ |
| 5N/6D Kathmandu – Pokhara (by road) | ₹18,000 – 25,000 | ₹27,000 – 36,000 | ₹50,000+ |
| 7N/8D Kathmandu – Pokhara – Chitwan | ₹26,000 – 34,000 | ₹38,000 – 50,000 | ₹70,000+ |
| 7N/8D Nepal Darshan with Muktinath by jeep (incl. Pokhara–Jomsom flights) | ₹42,000 – 52,000 | ₹55,000 – 68,000 | ₹85,000+ |
| Muktinath by helicopter from Pokhara (same day, sharing) – add-on | ₹70,000 – 1,00,000 extra | ₹70,000 – 1,00,000 extra | Quote on request |
Add for flights: Ahmedabad–Delhi–Kathmandu return fares are usually ₹14,000–20,000 per person when booked 5–6 weeks ahead; Diwali and the October–November season push this higher. Usually extra on the ground: Everest mountain flight (about ₹15,000–20,000 per person), Manakamana cable car ticket, Chitwan jungle activities beyond the package, monument entry fees at Kathmandu's Durbar Squares, and lunches. We print every exclusion on your quote.
How to reach Nepal from Ahmedabad
- By air (recommended): there is no non-stop Ahmedabad–Kathmandu flight. We book Ahmedabad–Delhi (about 1 h 30 min) and Delhi–Kathmandu (about 1 h 45 min) on the same ticket so your baggage goes through and a missed connection is the airline's responsibility, not yours. Leave Ahmedabad early morning and you reach Kathmandu by mid-afternoon. One-stop options via Mumbai or Kolkata also exist.
- Inside Nepal: Kathmandu–Pokhara is about 200 km but 6–8 hours by road on the Prithvi Highway; the 25-minute flight is worth it for seniors and tight schedules. For Muktinath, the Pokhara–Jomsom flight takes about 20 minutes (early morning only, weather dependent), then it is a 1 h 30 min jeep ride to Muktinath via Kagbeni.
- By road for groups: larger groups from Gujarat sometimes travel by train to Gorakhpur and cross at Sunauli (Bhairahawa), about 8–9 hours by coach to Kathmandu or 7 hours to Pokhara. It saves on fares but adds two days; we recommend it only for groups of 25 or more with time.
- Transfers: every trip is a private, customised itinerary with your own vehicle and a Hindi-speaking driver; extended families travel together as a private group on their own dates.
| Sector | Road | Flight |
|---|---|---|
| Kathmandu – Pokhara | 6 – 8 h | 25 – 30 min |
| Kathmandu – Chitwan (Sauraha) | 5 – 6 h | 20 min to Bharatpur |
| Pokhara – Chitwan | 4 – 5 h | – |
| Kathmandu – Kurintar (Manakamana cable car) | 3 h, on the way to Pokhara | – |
| Pokhara – Jomsom | 8 – 10 h by jeep | 20 min |

A helicopter variant replaces Days 4–5 with a same-day Pokhara–Muktinath–Pokhara flight (about 1 hour 30 minutes on the ground at the temple) – the choice for travellers who should not sleep at altitude or risk a Jomsom weather hold.

- Day 2: Everest mountain flight at dawn (about 1 hour, window seat for every passenger), then Swayambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square and Patan.
- Day 3: Fly to Pokhara; lakeside resort, boating on Phewa lake, sunset at World Peace Pagoda.

- Day 5: Fly back to Kathmandu, Bhaktapur Durbar Square and pottery square, Nagarkot or Chandragiri cable car for a Himalayan sunset.
- Day 6: Fly home via Delhi.
7 nights / 8 days – family Nepal with Chitwan
Follow the honeymoon route for Kathmandu and Pokhara, then drive 4–5 hours to Chitwan National Park for two nights: jeep safari for rhino sightings, canoe ride on the Rapti river, Tharu village dance, and an elephant breeding centre visit. Return to Kathmandu on Day 7 for Bhaktapur and shopping, fly home Day 8. Children love Chitwan, and the lodges serve mild vegetarian food on request.
Documents, money and permits – what Indians actually need for Nepal
Indian citizens do not need a visa for Nepal, but the airline and Nepal immigration do check identity, and this is where families get caught at Delhi airport. Here is the current position as we understand it; we re-confirm rules at the time of booking.
- Accepted ID for adults flying into Kathmandu: a valid Indian passport or an Election Commission Voter ID (EPIC). Aadhaar is not accepted as a travel document for adults on flights to Nepal, and neither is a driving licence or PAN card. If a senior in your group has neither passport nor Voter ID, tell us at enquiry stage so there is time to arrange one.
- Children: under-18s travelling with parents are generally accepted with a passport, or a birth certificate or school photo ID along with a parent's valid document. Rules for minors change; we confirm with the airline before ticketing.
- By road: a Voter ID or passport is still the sensible document to carry at the Sunauli or Raxaul border.
- Indian currency in Nepal: Indian ₹100 notes and smaller are accepted everywhere at a fixed rate of ₹100 = NPR 160. ₹200, ₹500 and ₹2,000 notes are not legal in Nepal and shops will refuse them. Carry ₹100 notes or exchange for Nepali rupees at Kathmandu airport or in Thamel.
- Cards and UPI: Indian debit and credit cards work at hotels, bigger restaurants and ATMs (with a foreign-transaction fee). Indian UPI payments at Nepali QR counters have started rolling out; treat them as a bonus, not something to rely on, and carry cash for taxis, temples and small shops.
- SIM: Indian roaming packs for Nepal are available from Jio, Airtel and Vi; a local Ncell or Nepal Telecom SIM costs little at the airport and needs a passport or Voter ID photocopy and a photo.
- Muktinath and Annapurna area: the Pokhara–Jomsom–Muktinath route lies inside the Annapurna Conservation Area; the entry permit is included in our Darshan packages and arranged before you fly.
- Altitude: Muktinath is at about 3,710 m. We schedule an overnight at Jomsom (2,700 m) before the temple on the jeep itinerary, recommend carrying a pulse oximeter, and advise travellers with heart or lung conditions to take their doctor's clearance and consider the helicopter option.
Best time to visit Nepal – month by month
| Months | Weather | Good for | Prices |
|---|---|---|---|
| October – November | Clear skies, 10–25°C in Kathmandu, cold mornings at Muktinath | Everything – best mountain views, Everest flight visibility highest, Muktinath open; Dashain and Tihar festivals | Peak; Diwali-week flights and hotels book out by August |
| December – February | Cold and dry, 2–18°C in Kathmandu; snow possible at Muktinath and Jomsom | Kathmandu and Pokhara sightseeing, Chitwan safaris; Muktinath jeep road may close after snowfall – helicopter is safer | Low to moderate; good hotel rates |
| March – April | Warm, 15–28°C, rhododendrons in bloom; some haze by late April | Honeymoons, families, Muktinath season reopens; Nepali New Year in mid-April | Moderate to high |
| May – early June | Hot in Kathmandu and Chitwan (30–35°C), pleasant in Pokhara and the mountains | Gujarat May-vacation families; Muktinath is comfortable; Everest flight visibility average | Moderate |
| Mid June – September (monsoon) | Daily rain, landslide risk on highways, Jomsom flights often cancelled | Short Kathmandu-only trips; Janai Purnima at Muktinath attracts pilgrims despite the rain | Lowest |
For the Everest mountain flight, October to December and March give the best odds of a clear morning; the airline refunds or re-times the flight if the view is obscured. For Muktinath by jeep, October–November and March–May are the dependable windows.
Places to visit in Nepal
- Pashupatinath, Kathmandu: one of the twelve Jyotirlingas for many devotees and the heart of every Nepal Darshan trip; the evening aarti on the Bagmati is the moment the parents come for.
- Muktinath: the Vishnu temple at 3,710 m in Mustang where 108 water spouts and the eternal flame of Jwala Mai sit side by side; sacred to Hindus and Buddhists alike.
- Manakamana: the wish-fulfilling Devi temple reached by a 10-minute cable car from Kurintar – an easy darshan for seniors en route to Pokhara.
- Boudhanath and Swayambhunath: Kathmandu's two great stupas; Swayambhunath has the hilltop view, Boudhanath the evening circumambulation with monks and butter lamps.
- Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur Durbar Squares: three medieval royal squares with woodwork and pagodas, all UNESCO-listed and within an hour of each other.
- Pokhara: Phewa lake boating, Tal Barahi temple, Davis Falls, Gupteshwar cave, World Peace Pagoda and the Annapurna skyline across the water.
- Sarangkot: the sunrise viewpoint above Pokhara for Annapurna and Machapuchare; also the launch point for paragliding.
- Chitwan National Park: one-horned rhinos, gharial crocodiles, 500-plus bird species and Tharu culture – the family favourite.
- Nagarkot and Chandragiri: Himalayan sunrise and sunset viewpoints near Kathmandu; Chandragiri's cable car makes it senior-friendly.
- Budhanilkantha and Dakshinkali: the sleeping Vishnu and the Kali temple in a valley south of the city, both quick add-ons to a darshan day.
- Lumbini: the birthplace of Buddha near the Indian border – a half-day stop for groups entering or leaving via Sunauli.
Food, hotels and tips for Gujarati travellers
- Vegetarian food is easy in Nepal. Dal-bhat-tarkari is the national meal and is vegetarian by default; Thakali thali in Pokhara and Jomsom is a vegetarian-friendly highlight. Thamel in Kathmandu and Lakeside in Pokhara have Indian, Marwari and pure-veg restaurants, and Gujarati thali is available at a few restaurants in Kathmandu that we list on your vouchers. Jain meals (no onion, garlic, root vegetables) are arranged at hotels with one day's notice; in Jomsom and Chitwan the choice is narrower, so we pre-order.
- Hotel categories: 3★ hotels in Thamel and Lakeside are clean and central; 4★ properties add mountain or lake views; 5★ and heritage hotels in Kathmandu (converted palaces and Newari courtyards) are excellent value compared with India. In Jomsom expect simple lodges with heating on request.
- Pack: layers – Kathmandu evenings are cool even in summer; a proper jacket, woollen cap and gloves for Muktinath in any month; sturdy shoes for temple steps and Durbar Squares; sunscreen and sunglasses for altitude; your regular medicines with prescriptions.
- Timings: Pashupatinath's main temple opens at 4 am and the evening aarti starts around 6 pm; non-Hindus may not enter the inner courtyard. Muktinath darshan is best done by 11 am before the afternoon wind picks up. The Everest flight departs around 6–7 am.
- Time and connectivity: Nepal is 15 minutes ahead of India. Mobile network is good in cities, patchy in Mustang and Chitwan.
- Shopping: pashmina, singing bowls, rudraksha, Nepali tea and thangka paintings; bargain in Thamel, pay fixed prices in Bhaktapur's cooperatives.

Nepal tour packages – frequently asked questions
How much does a Nepal tour package cost from Ahmedabad?
Nepal packages on this page start at ₹10,499 per person. A 5-night Kathmandu–Pokhara package with 3-star hotels, breakfast and dinner costs ₹18,000–25,000 per person excluding flights. The 7-night Nepal Darshan with Muktinath by jeep, including Pokhara–Jomsom flights, costs ₹42,000–52,000. Ahmedabad–Delhi–Kathmandu return flights add ₹14,000–20,000.
Do Indians need a passport or visa for Nepal?
No visa is needed. For flights into Kathmandu, adults must carry a valid passport or an Election Commission Voter ID; Aadhaar, PAN and driving licences are not accepted. Children travelling with parents are usually accepted with a birth certificate or school ID plus a parent's document – we confirm the current rule with the airline before ticketing.
Is there a direct flight from Ahmedabad to Kathmandu?
Not at present. We book Ahmedabad–Delhi and Delhi–Kathmandu on one ticket, about 1 h 30 min plus 1 h 45 min in the air, leaving Ahmedabad in the morning and reaching Kathmandu by mid-afternoon. One-stop routings via Mumbai or Kolkata are also available on some days.
Can I use Indian rupees in Nepal?
Yes, but only ₹100 notes and smaller, at a fixed rate of ₹100 = NPR 160. ₹200, ₹500 and ₹2,000 notes are not legal in Nepal and will be refused. Indian cards work at hotels and ATMs, and Indian UPI has begun to work at some Nepali QR counters, but carry cash in ₹100 notes or Nepali rupees for taxis and temples.
How is Muktinath reached, and is it suitable for senior citizens?
From Pokhara you fly 20 minutes to Jomsom and drive 1 h 30 min by jeep to the temple at 3,710 m, with an overnight at Jomsom to acclimatise. Seniors in reasonable health manage it well; those with heart or lung conditions should choose the same-day helicopter from Pokhara, which spends about 90 minutes at the temple and avoids sleeping at altitude.
What is the Everest mountain flight and what does it cost?
A one-hour early-morning flight from Kathmandu along the Himalayan range to Everest and back, with a window seat for every passenger and a cockpit visit. It costs about ₹15,000–20,000 per person and is usually an optional add-on. October to December and March give the best visibility; the airline re-times or refunds if the mountains are hidden.
Which is the best month to visit Nepal?
October and November for clear skies, mountain views and open roads to Muktinath; March and April for warm weather and rhododendrons. December to February is cold and clear but Muktinath may close after snowfall. The May vacation works well for Pokhara and Muktinath. June to September is the monsoon, with frequent Jomsom flight cancellations.
Is pure-vegetarian and Jain food available in Nepal?
Yes. Dal-bhat is vegetarian by default, Thakali thali is a vegetarian highlight in Pokhara and Jomsom, and Thamel and Lakeside have Indian, Marwari and pure-veg restaurants, including Gujarati thali in Kathmandu. Jain food is arranged at hotels with a day's notice; in Jomsom and Chitwan we pre-order your meals.
How many days are enough for Nepal?
Three nights covers Kathmandu and Pashupatinath. Five nights adds Pokhara. Seven nights is right for Kathmandu–Pokhara–Chitwan or for the Nepal Darshan circuit with Muktinath, which needs a buffer day for weather at Jomsom. Groups combining Darshan and Chitwan should plan nine nights.
Is Nepal a good honeymoon destination from Ahmedabad?
Yes, and good value. Five nights split between a heritage hotel in Kathmandu and a lakeside resort in Pokhara, with the Everest mountain flight, Sarangkot sunrise, paragliding and a Phewa lake boat ride, costs less than most beach honeymoons. Best months are October–November and March–April.
Can we go to Nepal by road or train from Gujarat?
Large groups sometimes take a train from Ahmedabad to Gorakhpur and cross at Sunauli, then travel 7–9 hours by coach to Pokhara or Kathmandu. It saves on airfare but adds about two days each way, so we suggest it only for groups of 25 or more with time. Carry Voter ID or passport at the border.
What is usually not included in a Nepal package?
Flights from Ahmedabad unless added, the Everest mountain flight, Manakamana cable car ticket, Durbar Square and monument entry fees, lunches, Chitwan activities beyond those listed, tips, personal expenses and GST at 5%. Our Darshan quotes include the Pokhara–Jomsom flights and the Annapurna permit; we list every exclusion in writing.
