From AhmedabadNon-stop flights to Srinagar, about 2¼ hours
Good forHoneymoon, families, snow lovers
Kashmir is closer to Ahmedabad than most people think: non-stop flights reach Srinagar in a little over two hours, so the first evening of your holiday can be a shikara ride on Dal Lake. A week is enough to see the three famous valleys – Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg – and the Mughal gardens of Srinagar.
Every season looks different. Spring brings the tulip garden, summer the green meadows, October the golden chinar trees and winter deep snow in Gulmarg. Our Kashmir packages below show live prices; each one can be changed to suit your dates and budget.

How to reach Kashmir from Ahmedabad
- By air: IndiGo and SpiceJet fly non-stop from Ahmedabad to Srinagar on most days (about 2 hours 15 minutes). On other days the route is one-stop via Delhi.
- By train: take a train from Ahmedabad to Jammu Tawi or Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, then the Vande Bharat Express from Katra to Srinagar across the Chenab bridge. It is a good option if you also want to visit Vaishno Devi.
Best Kashmir itinerary from Ahmedabad
5 nights / 6 days – Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam
- Day 1: Fly Ahmedabad to Srinagar. Check in to a houseboat on Dal Lake and take an evening shikara ride.
- Day 2: Srinagar – Mughal gardens (Nishat, Shalimar, Chashme Shahi) and the old city; move to a hotel.
- Day 3: Day trip to Gulmarg – ride the Gondola (book tickets early in peak season).
- Day 4: Drive to Pahalgam via the saffron fields of Pampore and the Awantipora ruins.
- Day 5: Pahalgam – Betaab Valley, Aru Valley and Chandanwari by local union taxi.
- Day 6: Drive to Srinagar airport and fly home.
7 nights / 8 days – add Sonamarg and a slower pace
Add a day trip to Sonamarg for the Thajiwas glacier and an extra night each in Gulmarg and Pahalgam. Families with seniors often prefer staying a night in Gulmarg rather than doing it as a day trip.
Kashmir with Vaishno Devi
Many families from Gujarat combine Kashmir with a darshan at Vaishno Devi: start in Katra for two nights, then take the train to Srinagar and continue with the itinerary above.
Best time to visit Kashmir
- March to April: spring and the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden in Srinagar (usually open for a few weeks from late March).
- May to August: the peak season – green meadows, cool weather and summer vacation crowds. Book 2–3 months ahead.
- September to November: clear skies and autumn colours; October is a favourite of photographers.
- December to February: snow in Gulmarg and Pahalgam, skiing and snow activities. Some roads and Gondola phases can close in heavy snowfall.
Practical tips for your Kashmir trip
- Mobile phones: prepaid SIMs from other states do not work in Jammu & Kashmir – carry a postpaid connection.
- Local taxis: in Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg, sightseeing points are visited by local union taxis or ponies, paid locally. We tell you the expected cost in advance.
- Food: vegetarian food is available in Srinagar and the main resorts; we choose hotels that can serve veg and Jain meals on request.
- Clothing: even in summer, evenings are cool – carry a jacket. In winter you need proper snow wear (available on rent in Gulmarg).
- Travel updates: we keep track of local advisories and road conditions and adjust your plan if needed.
