Dal Lake houseboat, Gulmarg snow and Pahalgam meadows – 156 Kashmir packages priced live, with the Vaishno Devi combination and flights from Ahmedabad worked out.
Kashmir is the honeymoon and family destination Ahmedabad asks us about more than any other Indian hill state, and it rewards the planning. A standard trip is Srinagar (two nights, one of them on a houseboat), Gulmarg for the gondola and snow, Pahalgam for the Lidder river and the Betaab and Aru valleys, and Sonamarg for the Thajiwas glacier. Gujarati families very often add Vaishno Devi by entering through Jammu, and senior couples come in April for the tulips when the weather is kind and the crowds are not.
All 156 packages below show live prices. Below them: how to fly from Ahmedabad (and when the direct flight runs), the Vaishno Devi plus Kashmir routing, a houseboat guide covering Dal versus Nigeen and the categories, the Gulmarg gondola phases explained, a month-by-month snow and tulip calendar, a factual note on safety, three day-wise itineraries and the pure-veg food reality in each town.

Kashmir tour package price guide (2026)
Kashmir packages on this page start at ₹6,000 per person. The land cost is driven by hotel category, the houseboat class, and how many of the valley excursions (Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg, Doodhpathri) you include, because each is a separate day's drive. Bands below are per person on twin sharing with hotels, breakfast and dinner, a private car, and one houseboat night, excluding flights.
| Trip | Standard (3★ / deluxe houseboat) | Deluxe (4★ / super-deluxe houseboat) | Premium (5★ / luxury houseboat) |

| 7N/8D Vaishno Devi + Kashmir (via Jammu/Katra) | ₹26,000 – 33,000 | ₹38,000 – 50,000 | ₹68,000+ |
Add for flights: Ahmedabad–Srinagar return fares are usually ₹10,000–16,000 per person a month out, and higher in the May vacation and Christmas week; Ahmedabad–Jammu for the Vaishno Devi combination is similar. Usually extra on the ground: Gulmarg gondola tickets (Phase 1 and Phase 2 sold separately), local union taxis at Pahalgam for Aru, Betaab and Chandanwari and at Sonamarg for Thajiwas, pony rides, shikara rides beyond the included one, Mughal garden entry tickets, snow-gear hire and 5% GST. We put all of these on one line of the quote so you know the real total.
How to reach Kashmir from Ahmedabad
- Fly to Srinagar: non-stop Ahmedabad–Srinagar flights operate in the peak seasons (typically the summer vacation and around the year-end) and take about 2 hours. In other months we route you via Delhi, where the Delhi–Srinagar sector takes about 1 h 30 min; total travel time is 5–6 hours including the connection. We never promise a specific airline or time – we check the live schedule for your dates and book what works.
- Vaishno Devi + Kashmir via Jammu: fly Ahmedabad–Jammu (via Delhi), drive 50 km to Katra, do the darshan, then continue to Srinagar. Katra to Srinagar is about 250 km by road (7–9 hours through the Banihal tunnel, scenery included), and a rail link now connects Katra with Srinagar in roughly three hours on a spectacular line – ask us for the current timetable when you book.
- By train: trains run from Ahmedabad to Jammu Tawi (about 30 hours or more). Senior groups who dislike flying sometimes take the train to Jammu, do Vaishno Devi, and fly or drive onward; it also saves money for large families.
- Getting around: every package includes a private car – Innova Crysta for a family, Tempo Traveller for an extended family – with a Kashmiri driver. Local rules require union taxis for the Pahalgam valleys and Sonamarg glacier road, and ponies or a local vehicle for Gulmarg's inner points; these are paid on the spot and we tell you the going rates in advance.
| Route | Distance | Drive time |
|---|---|---|

| Srinagar – Sonamarg | 80 km | 2½ – 3 h |
| Srinagar – Doodhpathri | 45 km | 1½ h |
| Srinagar – Yusmarg | 50 km | 1½ h |
| Jammu – Katra | 50 km | 1½ h |
| Katra – Srinagar | about 250 km | 7 – 9 h by road |

Buyer's guide: houseboats, the Gulmarg gondola and valley add-ons
Houseboat – Dal or Nigeen, and which category?
- Dal Lake: the classic choice, close to Boulevard Road, the floating market and the Mughal gardens; busier, with shikara vendors paddling past all day. Choose it if you want the atmosphere and easy access to town.
- Nigeen Lake: a quieter, cleaner lake connected to Dal, 15 minutes from the Boulevard; the houseboats are generally larger and more private. Our first recommendation for honeymooners and anyone who wants a peaceful night.
- Categories: the tourism department grades houseboats as Deluxe, A, B, C and D; the market calls the better ones deluxe, super-deluxe and luxury. Deluxe gives carved walnut interiors, attached baths and a shared dining room; super-deluxe adds bigger bedrooms, better linen and heating; luxury boats have suites, a private chef and a sundeck. We only book boats we have inspected and name the boat on your voucher.
- Practical: one or two nights is right – houseboats are cold in winter and you will want a hotel for the excursion days. Meals are cooked on board; a pure-vegetarian or Jain menu is arranged in writing with the owner before you travel.
Gulmarg gondola – Phase 1 and Phase 2
- Phase 1 runs from Gulmarg (about 2,650 m) to Kongdoori (about 3,080 m). It operates most of the year, has snow from roughly December to March, and is where families play, sledge and take pony rides. Suitable for seniors and children.
- Phase 2 continues from Kongdoori to Apharwat (about 3,950 m), one of the highest cable-car points in the world. It runs only when weather and wind allow, is frequently shut in bad weather, and is cold and breathless for the unacclimatised. Skip it if anyone has a heart or lung condition.
- Tickets: sold separately for each phase through the official online portal with daily limits; Phase 1 costs roughly ₹700–900 per person and Phase 2 roughly ₹1,000–1,200 at recent prices. In the Gujarat May vacation, Christmas week and on snow weekends the online quota sells out days ahead, so we book your slot in advance. Ticket cost is extra on our quotes because it is refunded by the operator if the gondola does not run.
Valley add-ons and local pricing to know
- Pahalgam: Aru, Betaab and Chandanwari are reached only by local union taxis at fixed per-vehicle rates (budget about ₹2,500–3,500 for the three-point circuit); your own car waits in town. Pony operators at Baisaran and Pahalgam quote high and negotiate – ask your driver for the rate card.
- Sonamarg: the Thajiwas glacier is a pony ride or a steep walk; Zojila pass beyond is open roughly May to November.
- Doodhpathri and Yusmarg: gentler meadows 1½ hours from Srinagar with far fewer tourists; a good swap for Sonamarg with seniors or in the monsoon when Zojila is shut.
- Tulip Garden: the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden in Srinagar opens for three to four weeks around late March to mid-April; we plan the Srinagar nights to catch it.
Safety – stated plainly
Kashmir is a destination with a security presence that first-time visitors notice: checkpoints on highways, army camps near tourist areas, and occasional restrictions on specific meadows or routes decided by the local administration. Tourist traffic to Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg has been continuous and heavy in every recent season, and our clients travel with local drivers who know which points are open on a given day. Specific spots – for example the Baisaran meadow above Pahalgam – have been closed to visitors for extended periods following the April 2025 attack there, and we do not include any site that is closed. Before you confirm, we tell you the current advisory status for your dates; while you travel, our Srinagar partner and Ahmedabad team are reachable round the clock. Mobile internet can be slowed or suspended briefly at times, so share your hotel numbers with family before you leave.
Best time to visit Kashmir – month by month
| Months | Weather | Good for | Prices |
|---|---|---|---|
| December – February | Srinagar −2 to 8°C; heavy snow at Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg (Sonamarg road often shut) | Snow honeymoons, skiing at Gulmarg, Christmas–New Year | Moderate; Christmas week high; some hotels closed in Pahalgam |
| March | Thaw begins, almond blossom at Badamwari | Couples who want snow at Gulmarg plus spring in Srinagar | Low to moderate |
| April | 8–20°C, Tulip Garden open late March to mid-April | Seniors, photographers, families before school closes | Moderate; rises in the last week |
| May – June | 12–28°C, all valleys open, snow still at Phase 2 and Zojila | Gujarat school vacation, families, Vaishno Devi combination | Highest of the year; book 8 weeks ahead |
| July – August | Warm days, some rain; Amarnath yatra traffic on the Pahalgam and Sonamarg roads | Budget travellers; Doodhpathri and Yusmarg instead of Sonamarg | Low |
| September – October | Clear and crisp; apple harvest, saffron bloom in late October, chinar leaves turn | Everyone – our favourite season; Diwali break | Moderate; Diwali week high |
| November | Cold, bare trees, first snow at Gulmarg towards month end | Value seekers, early snow hopefuls | Lowest |
For Gujarati families the May vacation is the single biggest Kashmir window from Ahmedabad and the month the direct flight is most likely to be running; hotels in Pahalgam and Gulmarg fill by March. Diwali falls in Kashmir's autumn, which many of our clients now rate above summer – fewer crowds, golden chinars and saffron in the fields at Pampore.
Places to visit in Kashmir
- Dal Lake and Nigeen Lake, Srinagar: shikara rides, houseboat nights, the floating vegetable market at dawn and Char Chinar island.
- Mughal gardens: Nishat, Shalimar and Chashme Shahi on the Dal shore, with Pari Mahal above – best in spring and autumn.
- Shankaracharya temple: the hill shrine above Srinagar with the best view of the lake; 240 steps, open early morning.
- Gulmarg: the gondola, Khilanmarg meadow, the Maharani temple and India's best ski slopes in January–February.
- Pahalgam: Lidder river, Aru valley, Betaab valley and Chandanwari, with the Amarnath yatra base in summer.
- Sonamarg: Thajiwas glacier, Sindh river and the road up to Zojila pass towards Ladakh.
- Doodhpathri and Yusmarg: milky streams and quiet pine meadows within 1½ hours of Srinagar.
- Tulip Garden: Asia's largest, in bloom for a few weeks from late March.
- Pampore and Avantipora: saffron fields (harvest in late October–November) and 9th-century temple ruins on the Pahalgam road.
- Kheer Bhawani, Tulmulla: the Kashmiri Pandit shrine to Ragnya Devi, a peaceful half-day from Srinagar.
- Vaishno Devi, Katra: the cave shrine in the Trikuta hills, combined with Kashmir by most Gujarati families.
- Old Srinagar: Jamia Masjid, Khanqah-e-Moula, the spice and copper bazaars for shopping.
Food, hotels and tips for Gujarati travellers
- Vegetarian and Jain food: easier than most people expect. Srinagar has several pure-vegetarian restaurants, including Gujarati, Marwari and Punjabi thali places along the Boulevard and near Lal Chowk, and most tourist hotels run a separate veg kitchen. Houseboat cooks prepare Gujarati-style dal, rotli and sabzi on request; Jain food (no onion, garlic or root vegetables) is arranged in writing with every hotel and houseboat. Pahalgam and Gulmarg have fewer options, so we book hotels there that confirm Jain meals. Kashmiri veg dishes worth trying: dum aloo, nadru (lotus stem) yakhni, haak, and kahwa tea with saffron and almonds.
- Hotel categories: Srinagar has everything from clean 3-star hotels on the Boulevard to 5-star lakeside properties; Gulmarg has a few good resorts and many basic hotels, so an overnight there is worth paying for; Pahalgam has riverside cottages and resorts across all categories. In winter, confirm heating – not every 3-star has central heating.
- Pack: proper winter wear from November to March (thermals, waterproof boots, gloves); a warm jacket even in May for Gulmarg and Sonamarg; sunglasses and sunscreen for snow glare; a basic medical kit; photocopies of ID for airport and checkpoints.
- Money and connectivity: UPI works in Srinagar and the main towns but carry cash for ponies, union taxis and village stalls. Mobile data can be slow or interrupted at times; the hotel Wi-Fi and landline are your backup.
- Shopping: buy pashmina, saffron, walnuts and dry fruit from government emporia or shops your driver does not take a commission from – we share a short list. Genuine saffron is sold by the gram, not the packet.
- Timings: the gondola generally runs from about 10 am to 5 pm and stops in high wind; Mughal gardens close at dusk; the Tulip Garden's window is short, so plan around it if it matters to you.

Kashmir tour packages – frequently asked questions
How much does a Kashmir tour package cost?
Kashmir packages on this page start at ₹6,000 per person. A typical 5-night trip covering Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg with 3-star hotels, a deluxe houseboat night and a private car costs ₹19,000–25,000 per person excluding flights; 4-star hotels take it to ₹28,000–38,000. Ahmedabad–Srinagar return flights add about ₹10,000–16,000.
Is there a direct flight from Ahmedabad to Srinagar?
Non-stop Ahmedabad–Srinagar flights operate in peak seasons – typically the summer vacation and around the year-end – and take about 2 hours. In other months we route you via Delhi with a total travel time of 5–6 hours. We check live schedules for your dates and book the flights together with the package so the car is waiting at Srinagar airport.
Can I combine Vaishno Devi with Kashmir?
Yes, and it is the most popular combination for Gujarati families. Fly Ahmedabad–Jammu, drive to Katra for the darshan (helicopter, battery car or pony options), then continue to Srinagar by road (7–9 hours) or by the Katra–Srinagar train in about three hours. A 7-night Vaishno Devi plus Kashmir trip costs ₹26,000–33,000 per person in standard hotels.
Which months have snow in Kashmir?
Gulmarg has snow from December to March, with the heaviest falls in January and February; Srinagar town usually sees snow in January. Pahalgam and Sonamarg are snowbound in winter, and the Sonamarg road often closes. For snow at the top of the gondola without the winter cold, visit in April–May when Phase 2 at Apharwat is still white.
Is Kashmir safe for families and senior citizens?
Tourist areas – Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg – have a visible security presence and heavy visitor traffic in every season. Some specific spots, such as the Baisaran meadow, have been closed to visitors following the April 2025 attack, and we never include closed sites. We brief you on the current advisory status before you confirm and our Srinagar partner is reachable round the clock during the trip.
Is the Gulmarg gondola included in the package?
The Gulmarg day trip and transport are included; gondola tickets are extra because they are sold per phase through the official portal and refunded if the ride does not operate. Phase 1 costs roughly ₹700–900 and Phase 2 roughly ₹1,000–1,200 per person at recent rates. We pre-book your time slot in busy months so you are not turned away.
Dal Lake or Nigeen Lake houseboat – which is better?
Dal is the classic – central, lively, with the floating market and Mughal gardens close by. Nigeen is quieter, cleaner and more private, 15 minutes away, and is our usual recommendation for honeymooners. One or two houseboat nights is ideal; use hotels for the excursion days. We name the boat on your voucher.
Is pure-veg and Jain food available in Kashmir?
Yes. Srinagar has several pure-vegetarian restaurants including Gujarati and Marwari thali places, hotels run separate veg kitchens, and houseboat cooks prepare Gujarati-style meals on request. Jain food is arranged in writing with every hotel and houseboat before you travel. Pahalgam and Gulmarg have fewer options, so we book hotels there that confirm Jain meals.
When is the Tulip Festival in Srinagar?
The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden opens for about three to four weeks from late March to mid-April, depending on the bloom; exact dates are announced a few weeks before. April is also pleasant at 8–20°C with snow still at Gulmarg, which makes it an excellent month for seniors and photographers.
How many days are enough for Kashmir?
Four nights covers Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam for a honeymoon. Five to six nights adds Sonamarg and an overnight in Gulmarg or Pahalgam at a relaxed family pace. Seven to eight nights lets you include Vaishno Devi via Jammu, or Doodhpathri and Yusmarg for a quieter second half.
What is usually not included in a Kashmir package?
Flights unless you ask us to add them, gondola tickets, union taxis at Pahalgam (about ₹2,500–3,500 for the Aru–Betaab–Chandanwari circuit) and Sonamarg, pony rides, garden entry tickets, extra shikara rides, snow-gear hire, lunches unless specified, personal expenses and 5% GST. Every quote lists these clearly so the total is not a surprise.
Can the Kashmir package be customised?
Every package on this page can be changed – add Vaishno Devi, swap Sonamarg for Doodhpathri, upgrade to a luxury houseboat, extend to Leh via Kargil in summer, or build a larger private trip for an extended family. Every trip is a private, customised itinerary with your own car and driver on your own dates. Call 1800-313-4262 or WhatsApp the package to us.
