Good forFamilies, honeymoon, seniors
Kerala is one of the most popular holidays from Ahmedabad, and for good reason: you can be in Kochi by lunchtime on a non-stop flight, and in one week see misty tea estates, a wildlife reserve, the backwaters and the Arabian Sea coast. The food suits Gujarati families better than most places in the south – Kerala's traditional sadya meal is fully vegetarian – and the roads between the main stops are short enough for children and senior citizens.
Below are the Kerala packages we have on sale today, followed by the routes we recommend for different trip lengths, the best months to go, and answers to the questions Ahmedabad travellers ask us most.

How to reach Kerala from Ahmedabad
- By air (recommended): non-stop flights run from Ahmedabad's SVPI Airport to Kochi (COK) in about 2½–3 hours. For a south-Kerala loop we often book you into Kochi and out of Thiruvananthapuram (TRV) so you never drive back the same way.
- By train: long-distance trains connect Ahmedabad with Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram along the Konkan coast. The journey takes well over a day, so it suits travellers with time who enjoy the ride.
Best Kerala itinerary from Ahmedabad
5 nights / 6 days – the classic Kerala
- Day 1: Fly Ahmedabad to Kochi, drive about 4 hours to Munnar through Cheeyappara and Valara waterfalls.
- Day 2: Munnar – Eravikulam National Park (Nilgiri tahr), Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point and the tea museum.
- Day 3: Drive to Thekkady – spice plantation walk, optional boat ride on Periyar lake and a Kathakali or Kalaripayattu show.
- Day 4: Drive to Alleppey and board your private houseboat; cruise the backwaters with lunch, dinner and an overnight stay on board.
- Day 5: Kochi – Fort Kochi, Chinese fishing nets, Jew Town and Marine Drive.
- Day 6: Fly Kochi to Ahmedabad.
7 nights / 8 days – add the beach
Follow the route above, then add two nights at Kovalam or Varkala for the beach and an Ayurvedic massage, and fly home from Thiruvananthapuram.
Honeymoon in Kerala
Couples usually prefer fewer hotel changes: three nights in a Munnar resort with a valley view, a private houseboat night with a candle-light dinner, and two nights at the beach. Ask us for honeymoon inclusions such as flower bed decoration and a cake.
Best time to visit Kerala
- September to March: the main season – pleasant weather in the hills, calm backwaters and beach days. Christmas, New Year and Diwali weeks sell out early, so book 6–8 weeks ahead.
- June to August (monsoon): heavy rain, very green and noticeably cheaper hotels. It is the traditional season for Ayurvedic treatments.
- April and May: hot and humid on the coast but comfortable in Munnar – a good choice for summer vacation with children.
Food, hotels and tips for Gujarati travellers
- Vegetarian and Jain food: vegetarian food is easy everywhere in Kerala. For Jain meals we tell the hotel and the houseboat cook in advance; options are best in Kochi and in larger resorts.
- Houseboats: ask for a pure-veg menu when you book – the cook prepares all meals on board.
- Hotel category: packages are available with 3-star, 4-star and 5-star hotels; in Munnar a room with a valley view makes the biggest difference.
- Pack: a light jacket for Munnar evenings, an umbrella in any season, and comfortable shoes for plantation walks.
