Good forCouples, families, friends, office groups

Goa is the closest real beach holiday for anyone living in Ahmedabad. You can leave SVPI Airport after breakfast and be sitting by a resort pool before lunch, which is why so many Gujarati couples, young families and office teams treat Goa as their default long-weekend escape. Three nights give you a proper break; five nights let you see both the busy north and the quiet south without rushing.

The catch is that "Goa" is really two different holidays with two different airports. Pick a Baga hotel when your parents wanted calm, or land at Mopa when your resort is in Cavelossim, and the trip starts badly. This page is written for travellers starting in Ahmedabad: what a Goa package really costs, which airport and train to use, three itineraries timed around flights from Ahmedabad, how Goa fits the Gujarat holiday calendar, a month-by-month table, and the food, money and safety notes our Gujarati guests ask about most. Every package shown on this page carries its live price.

Airfare from Ahmedabad: a return ticket to Goa usually costs ₹6,000 – 10,000 per person when bought three to four weeks out. Between Christmas and the first week of January it can reach ₹14,000 – 20,000, and Diwali week also runs well above normal. We quote flights and hotel together so the arrival airport matches the resort.

Paid separately on the ground: water-sports combos, the Dudhsagar jeep, casino entry, a Mandovi river cruise, scuba or snorkelling trips to Grand Island, two-wheeler hire and meals other than breakfast. The add-on list further down gives indicative prices for each so you can budget before leaving Ahmedabad.

What moves the price most: the date (a December 28 night can cost three times a December 8 night in the same room), the side of Goa (South Goa resorts charge 10–25% more for the same star rating), and whether the room faces the sea. Check those three lines first when two quotes look different.

Getting to Goa from Ahmedabad: flight, train or road

By air – choose the airport by your hotel

Non-stop flights connect Ahmedabad's SVPI Airport with both Goa airports, and the flying time is roughly 1 hour 30 minutes. Airlines and timings change every season, so we quote whatever is operating on your dates rather than promising a particular flight.

Goa airportWhere it isTransfer to Calangute / Baga / CandolimTransfer to Colva / Benaulim / CavelossimBest for

Dabolim (GOI)Centre, near VascoAbout 1 hour 10 minutes30 – 45 minutesSouth Goa stays, Panaji, Palolem
  • Split stays: when your nights are divided between South and North Goa, we fly you into Dabolim and out of Mopa (or the reverse) so nobody spends two hours in a car on the last morning.
  • Best departure slots: a late-morning flight from Ahmedabad gives you the afternoon on the beach. Friday evening and Sunday evening flights are the first to sell out on long weekends; a Thursday-to-Monday trip is often cheaper than Friday-to-Sunday.

By train from Kalupur or Sabarmati

Trains from Ahmedabad run down the Konkan Railway to Madgaon (for South Goa), Karmali (for Panaji and Old Goa) and Thivim (for North Goa). Depending on the train the journey takes roughly 20 to 24 hours, and the stretch through the Konkan hills and tunnels is scenic in the monsoon. Large families and student groups sometimes take the train down and fly back to save on airfare. We can book the train and begin your package with a pick-up at the station.

By road

Goa is about 1,100 km from Ahmedabad via Mumbai and Kolhapur or Pune. As a road trip it needs two days each way with a night halt; for a holiday of under a week, flying is cheaper once fuel, tolls and the extra hotel nights are counted.

Three Goa itineraries timed for Ahmedabad flights

2 nights / 3 days – Ahmedabad long weekend (couples and friends)

  • Day 1: Late-morning flight to Mopa; check in at a Candolim or Calangute hotel by mid-afternoon. Evening walk on Candolim beach and dinner at a restaurant with a clearly vegetarian kitchen.
  • Day 2: Fort Aguada and the lighthouse in the cool of the morning, water sports at Calangute before noon, a rest at the pool, then Chapora fort for sunset and the Vagator cliffs.
  • Day 3: Saturday night market or Anjuna flea market (by day of the week), lunch, transfer to Mopa for the evening flight home.

4 nights / 5 days – family with children (South first, North last)

  • Day 1: Fly Ahmedabad–Dabolim; 40 minutes to a Colva or Benaulim resort with a children's pool. Quiet evening on the sand.
  • Day 2: Dudhsagar waterfall by forest jeep from Mollem (October to May), with lunch at a spice farm that serves a full vegetarian thali.
  • Day 3: Drive north through Old Goa – the Basilica of Bom Jesus and Se Cathedral – and Panaji's Miramar beach; check in near Baga.
  • Day 4: Banana-boat and bumper rides for the children, parasailing for the adults, an afternoon at the hotel and a Mandovi sunset cruise with a Goan folk show.
  • Day 5: Fly home from Mopa, under an hour from the hotel.

5 nights / 6 days – unhurried Goa for parents and seniors

  • Day 1: Morning flight to Dabolim; South Goa resort with lifts, a garden and a pure-veg meal plan. Rest.
  • Day 2: Half day: Mangueshi and Shantadurga temples at Ponda and a shaded spice-plantation walk; back by mid-afternoon.
  • Day 3: Free day at the resort; an optional short river cruise on the Sal.
  • Day 4: Old Goa churches and the Fontainhas Latin quarter in Panaji, with a slow lunch in town.
  • Day 5: Palolem or Cabo de Rama fort in the far south for a gentle beach day.
  • Day 6: Fly Dabolim–Ahmedabad.

Every Goa trip we book is private: your own car and driver, your own hotel choice and your own dates. Extended families and friend circles travel as a private group, usually in a Tempo Traveller, and can split between two hotels if the budgets differ.

Goa on the Gujarat holiday calendar

Most of our Goa bookings from Ahmedabad cluster around a handful of holidays. Prices and availability follow the same pattern every year, so the booking window matters as much as the hotel.

OccasionUsual timingWhat Goa is likeBook by
Diwali and New Year (Bestu Varas)October or NovemberSeason just opening, sea calm by early November, shacks still setting up in late OctoberSix to eight weeks before
Christmas to New Year20 December – 5 JanuaryBusiest fortnight of the year; parties in the north, hotel rates two to three times normalSeptember or October

May vacationMay to early JuneHot and humid but pools and AC rooms keep children happy; sea rough from late MayFive to six weeks before
Monsoon weekends (15 August, Janmashtami)AugustGreen countryside, waterfalls, no swimming in the sea, lowest rates of the yearTwo to three weeks before

Office offsites and friends' trips: Ahmedabad companies often take teams of 15 to 60 people to Goa for two or three nights. For these we hold a block of rooms at one resort, arrange a conference hall if needed, a private beach dinner, and group water-sports slots, and book the flights on one fare so everybody travels together.

North Goa or South Goa: picking the right beach belt

  • Calangute, Baga and Candolim (north): the liveliest stretch, with water-sports counters, markets, cafés and most of Goa's Gujarati and Jain-friendly restaurants. Best for first-timers and friend groups who want everything within walking distance.
  • Anjuna, Vagator, Morjim and Arambol (far north): cliffs, flea markets and a younger crowd; closest to Mopa airport.
  • Panaji and Dona Paula (centre): a city base with river cruises, casinos, the Fontainhas quarter and easy access to Old Goa.
  • Colva, Benaulim, Varca and Cavelossim (south): long, uncrowded sand with large resorts in their own gardens. Our default for families with small children and for senior travellers.
  • Palolem, Agonda and Patnem (far south): sheltered bays, kayaks and dolphin boats; a lovely day trip or a quiet extra night.

In a sentence: choose the north for activity and easy vegetarian dining, the south for space and calm. If the family is split on it, two nights in each is the answer, with Old Goa as the stop on the transfer day.

Indicative add-on prices (per person, 2026)

  • Water-sports combo (parasailing, jet ski, banana boat, bumper ride): about ₹1,500 – 2,500 at licensed counters.
  • Dudhsagar jeep safari with forest entry and life jacket: about ₹2,500 – 3,500; closed in the monsoon.
  • Grand Island boat with snorkelling or a try-dive: about ₹2,000 – 4,000.
  • Offshore casino entry in Panaji with buffet and play coupons: about ₹2,500 – 5,000; adults 21 and above only.
  • Mandovi sunset cruise: about ₹500 – 1,500.
  • Scooter hire: about ₹400 – 700 a day plus fuel; a valid licence and helmet are checked.

If your dates are flexible, the first half of December and the whole of February give the best weather for the money. Water-sports counters and the Dudhsagar jeeps close for the monsoon, roughly June to September, so a rainy-season trip is about resorts, food and drives rather than the beach.

Food, money and safety tips for Gujarati travellers in Goa

Vegetarian, Gujarati and Jain meals

  • North Goa: the Calangute–Baga–Candolim belt has several Gujarati thali houses and pure-veg restaurants, and many hotels there are used to Jain requests.
  • Panaji and Margao: long-established vegetarian restaurants serving South Indian and North Indian food.
  • South Goa resorts: fewer standalone veg restaurants nearby, so we brief the resort kitchen in writing on pure-veg or Jain meals (no onion, garlic or root vegetables) and suggest a half-board plan.
  • Beach shacks: most list vegetarian dishes, but kitchens are shared with seafood. Families who are strict about this eat at the resort or at the veg restaurants we list on the voucher.

Money, rules and safety

  • UPI works almost everywhere, including shacks and scooter rentals; keep some cash for small stalls and parking.
  • Goa's liquor rules differ from Gujarat's. Drinking on beaches and in public places is fined, and casinos admit adults aged 21 and over only, so plan a separate evening if you travel with teenagers.
  • Swim only where lifeguards are posted, never after sunset, and never when red flags are up. From late May to September the sea is closed for swimming.
  • Book water sports only at licensed counters; agree the price and the number of rides before you pay.
  • Taxis in Goa are expensive and app cabs are limited, so a package with a private car for sightseeing days usually saves money for families.
  • Cover shoulders and knees for churches and temples; carry sunscreen, a hat and light cotton clothes in any season.

Goa tour from Ahmedabad: FAQs

How much does a Goa tour package from Ahmedabad cost?

Our Goa packages currently start at ₹5,999 per person for 2 nights. Most of our Goa packages fall between ₹11,999 and ₹24,999 per person. The final cost depends on the travel month, hotel category, number of travellers and whether flights from {$from} are added. Open any package below to see exactly what is included, or ask us for a quote with flights.

Are there direct flights from Ahmedabad to Goa?

Yes. Non-stop flights run from Ahmedabad SVPI Airport to both Goa airports, Mopa in the north and Dabolim near Vasco, and take about one and a half hours. Schedules change by season, so we confirm the operating flights for your dates and pick the airport that is closest to your hotel.

Should I fly to Mopa or Dabolim from Ahmedabad?

Fly to Mopa if your hotel is in Calangute, Baga, Candolim, Anjuna or further north; the transfer is under an hour. Fly to Dabolim for Colva, Benaulim, Cavelossim, Panaji or Palolem. If you split the stay between North and South Goa, we book one airport in and the other out.

How long does the train from Ahmedabad to Goa take?

Trains from Ahmedabad Kalupur and Sabarmati run along the Konkan Railway to Madgaon, Karmali and Thivim in roughly 20 to 24 hours, depending on the service. It suits large families and groups saving on airfare. Many take the train one way for the Konkan scenery and fly back.

How many days are enough for Goa from Ahmedabad?

Two nights works for a quick long weekend in North Goa. Three nights covers one side properly with a fort, a cruise and a beach day. Four nights lets you split North and South and add Dudhsagar. Five nights suits families with grandparents who want free days at the resort.

Can we get Gujarati and Jain food in Goa?

Yes. North Goa around Calangute and Baga has Gujarati thali and pure-veg restaurants, and Panaji and Margao have long-running vegetarian places. South Goa resorts cook pure-veg and Jain food on request. We put your meal requirement in writing on the voucher and share a vegetarian restaurant list for your area.

Is Goa a good choice for senior citizens from Gujarat?

Yes, if you stay in South Goa. We choose resorts with lifts, gardens and a vegetarian meal plan, keep sightseeing to half days such as Old Goa, the Ponda temples and Fontainhas, and avoid the crowded Baga stretch. A private car and driver stay with the family throughout, so nobody waits for taxis.

Is Goa worth visiting during Diwali?

Yes, especially when Diwali falls in early November, as the season is fully open and the sea is calm. When it falls in late October, a few shacks and water-sports counters may still be setting up. Diwali week prices are high, so book flights and the resort six to eight weeks ahead.

Can we visit Goa in the monsoon?

You can, and resort prices are at their lowest from June to September. The sea is closed for swimming, water sports and the Dudhsagar jeep stop, and rain can be heavy. It suits couples who want a spa resort, green drives and waterfalls rather than a beach holiday.

Are water sports included in Goa packages?

Usually not, because rates change with sea conditions and families pick different rides. A combo of parasailing, jet ski, banana boat and bumper ride costs about ₹1,500 to 2,500 per person at Baga or Calangute. We can pre-book a licensed operator if you want a fixed price in advance.

Do you arrange Goa trips for office teams from Ahmedabad?

Yes. We plan offsites and team outings for groups of 15 to 60, with group flights from Ahmedabad, a block of rooms at one resort, a meeting hall if needed, group water sports and a private beach dinner. Every group trip is private and built around your dates and budget.

Is Dudhsagar waterfall suitable for children and parents?

Yes. The forest jeep from Mollem drives most of the way and the final walk to the pool below the falls is short. It runs roughly from October to May and closes in the monsoon. Pair it with a spice-plantation lunch, which includes a full vegetarian thali, for an easy family day.
