Maldives tour package price guide (2026)

Maldives packages on this page start at ₹18,000 per person. The price is driven almost entirely by two decisions: the kind of island you sleep on (local island guesthouse, 4-star resort or 5-star resort) and the kind of room (beach villa or water villa). Nights matter less than you would think – most couples do 3 or 4 nights, because a resort island is small and the fourth day is for doing nothing. The table shows what our clients typically pay per person on twin sharing, excluding flights, with transfers and the stated meal plan included.

Add for flights: Ahmedabad–Malé return fares via Mumbai, Bengaluru or Kochi are usually ₹18,000–30,000 per person when booked 6–8 weeks ahead; December–January and the May vacation run higher. Usually extra on the ground: the Maldives green tax (about US$6–12 per person per night depending on property type, often collected at the resort), water sports, scuba, sunset cruises and spa, any meals outside your plan, and the resort's 10% service charge plus GST on à-la-carte items. The seaplane or speedboat transfer is the single biggest hidden cost in competitor quotes – ours always includes it and names the transfer type.

How to reach the Maldives from Ahmedabad

• By air: there is no year-round non-stop flight from Ahmedabad to Malé (MLE). We route you via Mumbai (Mumbai–Malé is about 2 h 30 min), Bengaluru (about 1 h 45 min) or Kochi (about 1 h 20 min). Total door-to-door time from SVPI Airport is usually 6–8 hours including the connection. Seasonal non-stop flights from Ahmedabad have appeared in past winters; when one is on sale we will tell you, but we never build a quote around a schedule that may not exist on your date.
• Which connection to choose: Mumbai has the most daily departures and the best fares; Kochi has the shortest second leg, which matters if you want to reach the resort before the last speedboat or the last seaplane. Seaplanes fly in daylight only, so a flight landing in Malé after about 3 pm usually means a night in Hulhumalé or Malé before a seaplane transfer the next morning – we plan for this so it never surprises you.
• Documents: Indian passport holders get a free 30-day visa on arrival. Carry a passport valid for at least six months, your confirmed hotel voucher and return ticket. Immigration also asks travellers to complete the online Maldives traveller declaration within 96 hours before arrival; we send you the link and fill it with you.
• Time and money: the Maldives is 30 minutes behind India. Resorts bill in US dollars and accept Indian credit cards; local islands often accept Maldivian rufiyaa or dollars. UPI does not work.

Best Maldives itineraries – honeymoon, family and budget

3 nights / 4 days – the classic honeymoon (one resort, water villa)

• Day 1: Fly Ahmedabad–Mumbai–Malé on a morning connection; speedboat or seaplane to the resort; check in to an over-water villa with honeymoon décor; sunset on your deck.
• Day 2: Lazy breakfast, house-reef snorkelling from the villa steps, afternoon couple's spa; candle-light dinner on the beach (often complimentary for honeymooners, see below).
• Day 3: Sunset dolphin cruise or sandbank picnic; photoshoot at golden hour; farewell dinner.
• Day 4: Transfer to Malé airport, fly home to Ahmedabad via Mumbai or Kochi.

4 nights / 5 days – the smart split (2N Maafushi + 2N resort)

• Day 1: Arrive Malé, public or private speedboat to Maafushi (about 30–45 min); check in to a guesthouse; evening walk to Bikini Beach.
• Day 2: Full-day island-hopping excursion – snorkelling with turtles, sandbank lunch, dolphin watching – at a fraction of resort prices.
• Day 3: Speedboat to a nearby South Malé Atoll resort; check in to a beach or water villa; the contrast is the point.
• Day 4: Resort day – house reef, spa, sunset deck.
• Day 5: Transfer to Malé and fly home.

This split is how most of our Ahmedabad couples on a ₹1,00,000-per-couple budget get a genuine water-villa experience without spending the whole trip in one.

5 nights / 6 days – family with children and grandparents

• Day 1: Fly to Malé; speedboat (not seaplane) to a resort within an hour of the airport with a kids' club and shallow lagoon.
• Day 2–3: Lagoon time, kids' club, glass-bottom boat; parents take turns at the spa.
• Day 4: Half-day Malé city visit – Grand Friday Mosque exterior, fish market, local market – for grandparents who want to see something.
• Day 5: Snorkelling trip for older children, pool for the little ones, family sunset cruise.
• Day 6: Fly home.

For families we choose all-inclusive plans almost every time – children's meals and drinks on an island are expensive à la carte, and Gujarati families eat together often. For senior parents we avoid seaplanes (steps, heat on the tarmac, baggage limits) and pick a speedboat resort with a doctor on the island.

Which island type is right for you

Speedboat versus seaplane

• Speedboat: for resorts in North and South Malé Atoll within about 60–90 minutes of the airport. Runs day and night, so a late-evening arrival still reaches the resort the same day. Cheaper, and easier for seniors and children.
• Seaplane: for resorts in Baa, Ari, Raa and other far atolls. 25–45 minutes of spectacular flying, daylight only, usually a 20 kg checked-baggage limit plus a weight-based seat allocation, and you may wait 1–2 hours at the seaplane lounge for your slot. Costs US$300–600 per person return and is the first thing to check when a quote looks cheap.
• Domestic flight + speedboat: the night-time alternative for far atolls, 30–60 minutes to a regional airport then a boat; slightly less glamorous, often cheaper, and it works after dark.

Honeymoon benefits – claim them

Most 4-star and 5-star resorts give honeymooners complimentary extras when you show a marriage certificate dated within the last 6 months (some allow 12). Typical inclusions: room décor and a cake on arrival, one candle-light dinner or a romantic breakfast, a bottle of sparkling wine or fruit basket, and a room upgrade when available. We attach your certificate to the booking in advance and confirm the benefits in writing, because a benefit requested at check-in is often refused.

Water villa or beach villa

A water villa is the photograph everyone wants, and for 1–2 nights it is worth it. For 4 or more nights many couples prefer a beach villa with a private pool: more shade, more privacy from walkways, easier with children, and often ₹20,000–40,000 less per night. Our honest suggestion is 2 nights beach + 2 nights water villa on the same island; most resorts allow the split.

Best time to visit the Maldives – month by month

A note for Gujarati travellers: a Maldives "monsoon" is nothing like Ahmedabad's. Rain usually comes in a 30–60-minute burst and the sun returns; it rarely spoils a whole day. May–October is when a 5-star water villa becomes affordable, which is why most of our post-wedding May and Diwali honeymoons go here. Diwali week itself sells out at the popular resorts by August.

Places to visit and things to do in the Maldives

• Your resort's house reef: the best snorkelling is usually right off your villa steps – ask us for resorts with a reef drop-off rather than a wide lagoon if snorkelling matters to you.
• Maafushi: the local-island capital of budget travel, with guesthouses, Indian cafés, water-sports counters and excursions at local prices.
• Malé: the compact capital – Grand Friday Mosque exterior, Sultan Park, the fish and produce markets and the Hukuru Miskiy coral-stone mosque; a two-hour stop at most.
• Hulhumalé: the airport island with 3-star hotels; the practical place to sleep before a morning seaplane.
• Baa Atoll (Hanifaru Bay): a UNESCO biosphere reserve where manta rays gather between May and November.
• Ari Atoll: whale-shark sightings year-round in the south and a strong choice of mid-range and luxury resorts.
• Sandbank picnics and dolphin cruises: the two excursions nearly every couple books; sunset dolphin trips have very high sighting rates.
• Vaadhoo and other bioluminescent beaches: glowing plankton on dark, moonless nights, mostly between June and October; never guaranteed, always memorable.
• Submarine and semi-submarine tours from Malé: the way for grandparents and non-swimmers to see the reef.
• Underwater restaurants and spas: a handful of resorts have them; good for one celebratory meal if the budget allows.

Food, resorts and tips for Gujarati travellers

• Pure-veg and Jain food on a resort island: you cannot walk out to another restaurant, so this must be fixed before you fly. Resorts with a large Indian guest base keep Indian vegetarian dishes on every buffet and will prepare Jain food (no onion, garlic or root vegetables) when informed 7–10 days in advance; we send the request with your booking and get the confirmation in writing. In our experience resorts within speedboat distance of Malé and the larger 4-star island groups handle this best; a few ultra-luxury properties with fixed menus are less flexible, and we will tell you which.
• Meal plans: bed-and-breakfast is a false economy on an island where a lunch costs US$40–60 per person. We recommend half board for couples who skip lunch, full board for families, and all-inclusive when the resort's plan covers excursions and soft drinks for children.
• Carry a few comfort items: theplas, khakhra and a small jar of pickle survive the journey well and are a relief on day three; resorts have no objection to packaged snacks.
• Hotel categories on this page: Standard means a guesthouse or 3-star on a local island; Deluxe a 4-star resort island; Premium a 5-star resort with water villas. We name the actual resort on every quote.
• Pack: reef-safe sunscreen, a rash vest for snorkelling, a light cover-up for local islands, and your marriage certificate copy. Keep seaplane baggage at 20 kg or less per person.
• Money: carry a credit card with international usage enabled plus US$200–300 in small notes for tips and local islands. Resort bills are settled at check-out in dollars.
• Dress and customs: the Maldives is a Muslim country; on local islands and in Malé, shoulders and knees covered is the norm; on resort islands there are no restrictions.
• Connectivity: a local SIM or e-SIM from the airport costs about US$20–30 and is far cheaper than roaming; most resorts have free Wi-Fi.
