Planned from Ahmedabad by people who live here – 375 Gujarat packages covering Saurashtra darshan, Kutch, Gir, Kevadia and Saputara, by road or with flights for NRI family.
Most Gujarat tour pages on the internet are written for travellers flying in from Mumbai or Delhi. This one is written from Ahmedabad. Vibrant Holidays has been on C G Road for 11 years, and a large share of what we sell every winter is Gujarat itself: Dwarka–Somnath darshan for parents, Rann Utsav for couples and friends' groups, Gir and Diu for families in the Diwali vacation, Statue of Unity day trips for corporate teams, and the Jain circuit of Palitana and Shankheshwar for pilgrimage groups. We also build longer Saurashtra and Kutch circuits for NRI relatives visiting home who want to see their own state properly for once.
All 375 packages below carry live prices. Below the packages you will find the drive-time table from Ahmedabad, three day-wise itineraries, a Rann Utsav tent-city versus resort comparison, how Gir safari permits actually work, a month-by-month guide and the questions Gujarati families ask us before they book.

Gujarat tour package price guide (2026)
Packages on this page start at ₹7,500 per person. Because most of Gujarat is reached by road from Ahmedabad, the biggest cost driver is the vehicle (a Dzire for two, an Innova Crysta for a family, a Tempo Traveller for a group of 10–12) rather than hotels. The bands below are per person on twin sharing with a private AC vehicle, breakfast and sightseeing, excluding any flights or trains.
| Trip | Standard (3★) | Deluxe (4★) | Premium (5★ / heritage) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2N/3D Statue of Unity + Champaner | ₹7,500 – 10,000 | ₹12,000 – 16,000 | ₹19,000+ |
| 2N/3D Rann Utsav (Bhuj + White Rann) | ₹11,000 – 15,000 | ₹18,000 – 26,000 (tent city deluxe) | ₹32,000+ (premium tents / resorts) |
| 3N/4D Dwarka – Somnath darshan | ₹11,000 – 14,000 | ₹16,000 – 21,000 | ₹28,000+ |
| 4N/5D Dwarka – Somnath – Gir – Diu | ₹15,000 – 19,000 | ₹22,000 – 29,000 | ₹38,000+ |
| 6N/7D Saurashtra + Kutch | ₹22,000 – 28,000 | ₹32,000 – 42,000 | ₹55,000+ |
| 9N/10D complete Gujarat (Saurashtra, Kutch, Kevadia) | ₹32,000 – 40,000 | ₹46,000 – 60,000 | ₹80,000+ |
Usually extra on the ground: Gir safari permit and jeep (about ₹4,000–6,000 per jeep for Indian visitors, shared by up to six), Statue of Unity viewing-gallery ticket, Girnar and Saputara ropeway tickets, Bet Dwarka boat ride, camel or ATV rides at the White Rann, and 5% GST. We list every exclusion on the quote itself. Add for flights: NRI relatives or guests from other cities can fly into Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Bhuj or Vadodara; return domestic fares from Mumbai or Delhi are usually ₹6,000–10,000 per person outside Diwali week.
Distances and drive times from Ahmedabad
Gujarat has some of the best state highways in India, and almost every destination below is a comfortable day's drive from Ahmedabad. These are realistic timings in a private car with one tea stop, not Google's fastest estimates.
| From Ahmedabad to | Distance | Drive time | Best as |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kevadia (Statue of Unity) | about 200 km | 3½ – 4 h | Day trip or 1-night stay |
| Shankheshwar | about 110 km | 2 h | Half-day darshan |
| Palitana (Shatrunjaya) | about 210 km | 4 h | 1–2 nights for the climb |
| Rajkot | about 215 km | 3½ h | Lunch halt on the way to Saurashtra |
| Junagadh (Girnar) | about 320 km | 5½ h | 1 night, ropeway next morning |
| Bhuj | about 330 km | 5½ – 6 h | Base for Kutch; Dhordo is 80 km further |
| Sasan Gir | about 360 km | 6 – 6½ h | 2 nights for two safaris |
| Diu | about 380 km | 7 h | 2 nights after Gir or Somnath |
| Saputara | about 400 km | 7 h | 2 nights; combine with Shirdi or Nashik |
| Somnath | about 410 km | 7 h | 1 night; evening aarti |
| Dwarka | about 440 km | 7½ – 8 h | 1–2 nights; Bet Dwarka and Nageshwar |
- By road: we provide a chauffeur-driven AC car or Tempo Traveller from your home in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vadodara or Surat, with fuel, tolls, parking and the driver's allowance included. Self-drive clients get the same hotels and sightseeing at a land-only price.
- By train: overnight and day trains connect Ahmedabad with Dwarka, Veraval (for Somnath), Junagadh and Bhuj. Many senior groups prefer the train to Dwarka and a car from there; we book both.
- By air: Ahmedabad–Bhuj, Ahmedabad–Rajkot and Ahmedabad–Diu flights operate on select days and save a long drive for guests short on time. Rajkot's new Hirasar airport is the handiest gateway for Saurashtra.

Other circuits we run often
- Statue of Unity weekend (1N/2D): Kevadia with the viewing gallery, Sardar Sarovar dam view, Jungle Safari, Arogya Van, laser show and a night at the tent city or a Kevadia hotel; Champaner-Pavagadh on the way back.
- Saputara monsoon break (2N/3D): Gujarat's only hill station with the ropeway, Sunset Point, Gira falls and Don hill; pairs well with Shirdi and Nashik for a 4-night trip.
- Jain circuit (3N/4D): Shankheshwar – Palitana (Shatrunjaya climb, doli available) – Girnar (Neminath temples by ropeway) – Mahudi, with Jain bhojanshala meals throughout.
- Corporate offsite: Statue of Unity, Polo Forest or a Kutch resort for 20–200 people with conference halls, team activities and your own coaches, planned as a private itinerary on your dates.
Buyer's guide: Rann Utsav tents, Gir permits and darshan logistics
Rann Utsav – tent city or a private resort?
- Dates: the festival at Dhordo usually runs from around November to late February or early March, with the full-moon nights selling out first. Outside these months the White Rann is still open with a permit, but the tent city is dismantled.
- Official tent city: packaged stays with all meals, cultural programme, Rann transfers and sightseeing included; choose between non-AC, AC swiss cottages and premium or rajwadi suites. It is the fullest experience and the one most first-timers want.
- Private resorts and bhungas: several resorts at Dhordo, Hodka and near Bhuj offer traditional mud bhungas and tented rooms at lower rates, with more privacy and flexible meal times. Ideal for couples, photographers and anyone who wants to skip the crowd on stage night.
- Rann permit: every visitor needs a permit for the Rann (available online and at the Bhirandiyara checkpost); we include it in the package.
Gir safari permits – how it actually works
- Safaris in Gir National Park run in three slots a day (roughly 6 am, 9 am and 3 pm). Permits are issued per jeep for up to six adults and are booked online on the forest department portal, usually opening about three months in advance.
- Weekend, Diwali and Christmas slots sell out within hours of release. We book the permit in your names the day it opens; you need to carry the same photo ID you registered with.
- Gir is closed from mid-June to mid-October for the monsoon. During that window only Devalia Safari Park (the fenced interpretation zone, closed on Wednesdays) is open, and lion sightings there are almost guaranteed.
Dwarka and Somnath darshan timings
- Dwarkadhish temple opens early morning and closes for the afternoon; the evening sandhya aarti is the one to plan around. Dress modestly; mobiles and bags go into lockers outside.
- Somnath has three aartis a day (morning, noon and 7 pm) and a sound-and-light show after dark in season. Bags, cameras and phones are not allowed inside – cloakrooms are at the gate.
- Wheelchair-assisted darshan is available at both temples for seniors; tell us at booking and our driver will coordinate it.
Best time to visit Gujarat – month by month
| Months | Weather | Good for | Prices |
|---|---|---|---|
| November – February | Cool and dry, 10–28°C; cold nights in Kutch | Rann Utsav, Gir safaris, Dwarka–Somnath, Diu beach, Kevadia; Uttarayan kite festival in January | Highest; tent city and Gir permits sell out first |
| March – April | Warming up, 30–38°C | Gir (best lion sightings as waterholes shrink), Saputara, Holi in Dwarka | Moderate |
| May – mid-June | Hot, 38–44°C inland; breezy on the coast | Short Diu or Saputara breaks in the school vacation, early-morning darshan trips | Lowest |
| Mid-June – September | Monsoon; Gir closed, Rann flooded | Saputara, Polo Forest, Champaner, Dang waterfalls, Janmashtami in Dwarka | Low; resort offers |
| October | Clearing skies, Navratri | Navratri garba in Vadodara and Ahmedabad, Gir reopens mid-month, Diwali vacation trips | Rising; Diwali week peaks |
For Gujarati families the two biggest travel windows are the Diwali vacation (late October–November, which coincides with the Rann Utsav opening and Gir reopening) and the May school holidays, when we recommend Saputara, Diu or a monsoon-adjacent Polo Forest break rather than Kutch.
Places to visit in Gujarat
- Dwarka: Dwarkadhish temple, Bet Dwarka, Nageshwar Jyotirlinga and Rukmini temple – the Krishna pilgrimage every Gujarati family does at least once.
- Somnath: the first Jyotirlinga on the Arabian Sea, Bhalka Tirth and Triveni Sangam; the evening aarti is the highlight.
- Sasan Gir: the only home of the Asiatic lion; also Devalia park and the Kankai Mata temple inside the forest.
- Kutch – Bhuj and Dhordo: the White Rann, Kala Dungar, Rann Utsav, Bhujodi and Nirona crafts, Mandvi beach and the Vijay Vilas Palace.
- Statue of Unity, Kevadia: the 182 m statue, viewing gallery, Valley of Flowers, Jungle Safari, river rafting and the evening laser show (closed Mondays).
- Diu: Nagoa and Ghoghla beaches, Portuguese fort and churches, Naida caves – a relaxed two-night beach stop after Gir.
- Junagadh and Girnar: the Girnar ropeway, Jain temples on the hill, Uparkot fort and Mahabat Maqbara.
- Palitana: Shatrunjaya hill with over 800 Jain temples – the most important Jain pilgrimage in the world.
- Saputara: Gujarat's hill station in the Dang forests; lake, ropeway, Sunset Point and monsoon waterfalls.
- Ahmedabad and around: India's first UNESCO World Heritage City – Sabarmati Ashram, Adalaj stepwell, Akshardham in Gandhinagar, plus Modhera Sun Temple and Rani ki Vav in Patan as a day trip.
- Champaner-Pavagadh and Polo Forest: a UNESCO site and a monsoon-green forest with ruined temples, both within three hours of Ahmedabad.
- Velavadar and Little Rann: blackbuck grasslands near Bhavnagar and wild-ass safaris near Dasada for wildlife enthusiasts.
Food, hotels and tips for Gujarati travellers
- Vegetarian and Jain food: Gujarat is the easiest state in India for pure-veg travel. Dwarka, Somnath and Palitana are effectively vegetarian towns with dozens of thali houses and Jain bhojanshalas; Diu is the exception, where we book hotels with a veg kitchen. Kutch gives you Kutchi dabeli, bajra rotla and kadhi; Saurashtra adds Kathiyawadi thali.
- Hotel categories: Dwarka and Somnath have good 3-star and a few 4-star hotels close to the temples plus trust-run guest houses; Gir has jungle resorts from standard to luxury; Kutch has the tent city, bhunga resorts and city hotels in Bhuj; Kevadia has the Tent City and mid-range hotels; Diu has beach resorts at Nagoa.
- Pack: warm layers for Kutch nights (December–January can drop to 5°C), modest clothing for temples, a torch and sunglasses for the Rann, neutral-coloured clothes and a cap for safaris, and valid photo ID for every permit.
- Money and connectivity: UPI works everywhere including the Dhordo stalls; mobile network is weak inside Gir and patchy on the Rann; carry some cash for small temple donations and parking.
- Timings to remember: Statue of Unity is closed on Mondays; Devalia on Wednesdays; Gir is shut mid-June to mid-October; Dwarkadhish closes for several hours in the afternoon, so plan darshan for morning or evening.
- Driving tips: leave Ahmedabad by 6 am for Dwarka or Somnath to arrive before evening aarti; the Dhordo road is excellent but unlit at night; avoid driving in Gir forest roads after dusk.

Gujarat tour packages – frequently asked questions
How much does a Gujarat tour package cost?
Gujarat packages on this page start at ₹7,500 per person. A 3-night Dwarka–Somnath trip with 3-star hotels and a private car costs about ₹11,000–14,000 per person; a 4-night Dwarka–Somnath–Gir–Diu trip ₹15,000–19,000; a 6-night Saurashtra-plus-Kutch circuit ₹22,000–28,000. Deluxe hotels add 40–50%. Safari permits, ropeways and gallery tickets are extra.
How many days are enough to see Gujarat?
Three to four days covers Dwarka, Somnath and Gir. Six to seven days adds Diu, Junagadh and Kutch. For a complete trip including the Statue of Unity, Champaner and Saputara you need 9–10 days. Weekend trips of 2 nights work well for Kevadia, Rann Utsav or Palitana from Ahmedabad.
When is Rann Utsav and how do I book the tent city?
Rann Utsav at Dhordo usually runs from about November to late February or early March; exact dates are announced by Gujarat Tourism each year and we update our packages when they are. Tent-city stays are sold as all-inclusive packages, and full-moon nights sell out weeks ahead, so book by September for a Diwali or December visit.
How do Gir safari permits work?
Permits are issued per jeep (up to six adults) for three daily slots and are booked online on the forest department portal, roughly three months in advance. We book them in your names with your photo ID the day they open. Gir is closed mid-June to mid-October; Devalia Safari Park stays open except on Wednesdays.
Is Gujarat suitable for senior citizens?
Very much so. Roads are excellent, drives can be broken at Rajkot or Junagadh, and both Dwarka and Somnath offer wheelchair-assisted darshan. For Palitana, dolis carry pilgrims up the 3,500-plus steps, and the Girnar ropeway replaces the climb. We keep one free afternoon in every senior itinerary.
Can I do the trip by train instead of a long drive?
Yes. Trains run from Ahmedabad to Dwarka, Veraval (for Somnath), Junagadh and Bhuj, and many families take the train one way and a car for the sightseeing. We book the tickets along with the hotels so the car is waiting at the station.
What is the best time to visit Gujarat?
November to February is the best season for everything – Rann Utsav, Gir, the temples and Diu. March–April is good for lion sightings. May–June is hot, so we suggest Saputara or Diu. The monsoon (July–September) is for Saputara, Polo Forest and Champaner; Gir and the Rann are closed then.
Is the Statue of Unity worth a separate trip?
Yes, especially with children or a corporate group. Kevadia is about 200 km (3½–4 hours) from Ahmedabad and has enough for two days: the viewing gallery, Jungle Safari, Valley of Flowers, boat ride, river rafting and the laser show. The site is closed on Mondays, and gallery tickets are time-slotted, so we book them ahead.
Do you arrange Jain pilgrimage tours in Gujarat?
Yes. Our Jain circuit covers Shankheshwar, Palitana (Shatrunjaya), Girnar and Mahudi with Jain bhojanshala meals, early-morning darshan and doli arrangements where needed. We also combine Palitana with Dwarka–Somnath for mixed family groups. Every trip is a private, customised itinerary – your own vehicle, your own dates – so sangh-style extended-family yatras are easy to arrange.
Can NRI relatives join a Gujarat package with flights from abroad?
Yes. Many of our clients book a Saurashtra or Kutch circuit for family visiting from the UK, US or Africa. We arrange airport pickup at Ahmedabad, hotels with Western-style bathrooms and lifts, a bilingual driver and, where useful, a Bhuj–Ahmedabad or Rajkot–Ahmedabad flight to cut a long drive.
What is usually not included in the package?
Gir safari permit and jeep (about ₹4,000–6,000 per jeep), Statue of Unity gallery tickets, Girnar and Saputara ropeway, Bet Dwarka boat, camel and ATV rides at the Rann, lunches and dinners unless specified, personal expenses and 5% GST. Each quote lists inclusions and exclusions side by side.
Can I customise the package or travel as a large family group?
Every package can be changed: add Diu or Saputara, swap the tent city for a resort, upgrade to heritage hotels, or start from Vadodara or Surat instead of Ahmedabad. Every trip is a private, customised itinerary – your own car and driver, your own dates. Extended families and friend groups travel together as a private group in a Tempo Traveller or coach.
