Family Tour Packages from Ahmedabad
Holidays planned around the people in your family – toddlers, teenagers and grandparents – with flights from Ahmedabad, Gujarati food and short, sensible drives.
A family holiday is the hardest trip to plan well. A honeymoon has two people with the same wish; a family of six has a five-year-old who needs a pool, a fourteen-year-old who wants adventure, parents who want one quiet evening, and grandparents who need a lift in the hotel and a Gujarati thali at night. Vibrant Holidays has been planning exactly these trips from Ahmedabad for 11 years, and this page is our working notes.
You will find the best domestic and international destinations by family type, how to plan around the Gujarat school vacation in May and the Diwali break, realistic per-person budgets, a plain explanation of hotel child policies and connecting rooms, two sample 5-night itineraries, and answers to the questions Gujarati families ask us most. Every package above can be customised for your family size and travel dates.

Family Trip to Pink City
Best family destinations by family type
Families with children under 10
Short flights, one or two hotel changes at most, a pool, and food the child already knows. Our picks: Goa (1 h 20 min flight, resort with kids' pool, water sports on Baga or Candolim), Kerala (Munnar tea gardens, Thekkady elephant camp and one houseboat night – children love the boat), Dubai (about 3 hours non-stop; Dubai Aquarium, Legoland, Global Village, desert safari camp), Singapore (Universal Studios, S.E.A. Aquarium, Night Safari, Gardens by the Bay – everything by metro), and Mount Abu or Udaipur for a first drive-holiday under 6 hours from Ahmedabad.
Families with teenagers
Teenagers want to do things, not see things. Thailand (Phuket water sports, Phi Phi speedboat, Bangkok night markets, Safari World), Bali (Waterbom park, Nusa Penida, Mount Batur sunrise trek, surf lesson), Himachal (Solang Valley zipline and paragliding, Atal Tunnel to Sissu, river crossing in Kullu), Andaman (scuba and sea-walk at Havelock, Radhanagar beach, Cellular Jail light show), Kashmir (Gulmarg gondola, pony rides in Pahalgam, shikara on Dal Lake, snow in winter) and Ladakh for families with teens over 14 who are fit.
Three generations – children, parents and grandparents
The rule here is no drive over four hours, hotels with lifts, a free afternoon every second day, and Gujarati or at least pure-veg dinners. Kerala (short hops, mild food, Guruvayur temple add-on), Kashmir (one base in Srinagar with day trips to Gulmarg and Pahalgam), Dubai (one hotel for the whole stay, wheelchair access everywhere, Gujarati thali in Bur Dubai), Singapore (compact, clean, Little India for meals), Rajasthan (Udaipur–Jodhpur–Jaisalmer by road from Ahmedabad with our own vehicle and driver), and Europe as a private family trip – your own coach or van, hotels near Indian restaurants, Jain meals arranged – which many extended families book for a 60th or 70th birthday celebration.
Family trip budget from Ahmedabad – per person bands (2026)
Per adult, twin or triple sharing, including return flights from Ahmedabad where the destination is flown, hotels with breakfast, transfers and listed sightseeing; excluding visa, lunches and dinners (unless listed) and entry tickets not listed. Children aged 5–11 sharing the parents' room with an extra bed are usually charged 60–75% of the adult price; children under 5 pay only the airfare and any ticketed attractions.

Flights are the swing factor: a family of four flying to Kerala in Diwali week can pay ₹20,000 more in airfare than the same family in the first week of December.
Planning calendar for Gujarat families – May vacation and Diwali
| Break | When (typical) | Best destinations | Book by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Summer vacation (Gujarat schools) | Early May to mid-June | Kashmir, Himachal, Uttarakhand, Munnar & Thekkady, Coorg & Ooty, Singapore, Europe, Bali (dry season), Dubai is too hot | End of February for Kashmir and Europe; end of March for the rest |
| Diwali break | Usually late October to mid-November, 8–12 days | Kerala, Goa, Andaman, Rajasthan, Dubai, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Sri Lanka | End of August – Kerala houseboats and Goa resorts sell out first |
| Christmas – New Year | Last 10 days of December | Goa, Kerala, Andaman, Dubai, Thailand; Shimla–Manali and Gulmarg for snow | Mid-October |
| Uttarayan and Republic Day long weekends | Mid and late January | Mount Abu, Udaipur, Kutch (Rann Utsav), Daman, Saputara, Statue of Unity | Three weeks ahead |
| Holi and March long weekends | March | Goa (end of season), Rajasthan, Kerala beaches, Dubai before the heat | Four weeks ahead |
| Monsoon (July – September) | Off-season | Kerala Ayurveda, Coorg, Udaipur, Saputara, Bali, Singapore, Europe (long days) | Three weeks ahead, best hotel rates of the year |
Every family trip we plan is private – your own dates, your own vehicle and driver, your own pace. Extended families and friend groups of 10–40 people travel together as a private group on their own dates to Kashmir, Himachal, Kerala, Dubai, Singapore, Thailand and Europe, with a Tempo Traveller or coach, Gujarati dinners arranged and one consultant handling the whole party. May and Diwali dates for large families should be locked 8–10 weeks ahead.
Hotels for families – child policy, extra beds and connecting rooms explained
This is where most family quotes go wrong, so here is how it actually works:
- Child age bands: most Indian hotels treat under-5 as free (sharing parents' bed, no extra breakfast), 5–11 as "child with bed" or "child without bed", and 12+ as an adult. International hotels often use under-2, 2–11 and 12+. We quote with the correct band so the hotel does not surprise you at check-in.
- Extra bed vs no bed: "child without bed" means your child shares your bed and pays only for breakfast. An extra bed (rollaway or sofa bed) adds ₹800–2,500 per night in India and more abroad. Most rooms allow 2 adults + 1 child with extra bed; 2 adults + 2 children usually needs a family room or two rooms.
- Connecting or interconnecting rooms: two rooms with a door between them. Hotels rarely guarantee them online; we request them in writing and choose hotels we know have them when you travel with grandparents or older children.
- Family rooms and suites: Dubai, Singapore and Thailand have many 4-person family rooms; Indian hill stations have fewer, so in Manali or Munnar we often book two adjacent rooms or a cottage.
- Kid-friendly basics we check: a pool with a shallow section, early-dinner timing, a lift (essential for grandparents), parking for your own vehicle on drive-holidays, and hot water in hill stations.
- Pure-veg and Jain food: in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Mount Abu and Himachal pure-veg hotels are easy. In Kerala, Kashmir, Andaman, Dubai, Singapore and Thailand we confirm Jain or pure-veg meals with the hotel or arrange dinners at Gujarati and Indian restaurants, and put it in your voucher.
Travelling with grandparents – pacing and comfort
- Drives under 4 hours and a stop every 90 minutes. We avoid Munnar's Top Station road, the Pahalgam–Chandanwari pony track and night drives.
- One base, day trips: in Kashmir we keep Srinagar as the base for Gulmarg and Sonmarg; in Dubai one hotel for the whole stay; in Rajasthan two nights in each city.
- Hotels with lifts and ground-floor rooms requested in writing; western toilets confirmed in hill-station homestays.
- Wheelchair assistance pre-booked at Ahmedabad airport and at the destination; it is free on Indian carriers and most international airlines if requested 48 hours ahead.
- Medicines and insurance: carry prescriptions; we add travel insurance with senior-citizen cover on international trips.
- Temple add-ons: Guruvayur with Kerala, Somnath–Dwarka with a Gujarat trip, Vaishno Devi with Kashmir, Golden Temple with Himachal – a short darshan keeps grandparents happiest.
Sample 5-night family itinerary – Kerala from Ahmedabad
- Day 1: Morning non-stop flight Ahmedabad–Kochi (about 2 h 45 min). Drive to Munnar (4 hours) with a stop at Cheeyappara waterfalls. Check in to a resort with a view; early dinner.
- Day 2: Munnar – Eravikulam National Park (Nilgiri tahr), tea museum, Mattupetty dam boating and Echo Point. Free evening for children at the resort pool.
- Day 3: Drive to Thekkady (3 hours). Spice plantation walk, elephant camp interaction, evening Kalaripayattu martial-arts show.
- Day 4: Periyar lake boat ride in the morning, then drive to Alleppey (4 hours) and board a private 2-bedroom houseboat at noon. Cruise, sunset on the deck, pure-veg dinner cooked on board.
- Day 5: Disembark at 9 am, drive to Kochi (1½ hours). Fort Kochi, Chinese fishing nets, Marine Drive, and Lulu Mall for the children.
- Day 6: Fly Kochi–Ahmedabad.
Typical cost: ₹28,000–34,000 per adult in 3-star hotels including flights; children 5–11 with extra bed about ₹20,000. Add Guruvayur temple as a day trip from Kochi for grandparents.
Sample 5-night family itinerary – Dubai from Ahmedabad
- Day 1: Non-stop flight Ahmedabad–Dubai (about 3 hours). Transfer to a 4-star hotel in Bur Dubai or Deira, close to Gujarati thali restaurants. Evening Dhow cruise with dinner at Dubai Marina.
- Day 2: Half-day city tour – Jumeirah mosque, Burj Al Arab photo stop, Palm Jumeirah. Afternoon Burj Khalifa (124th floor) and Dubai Mall aquarium; Dubai Fountain at night.
- Day 3: Free morning. Afternoon desert safari with dune bashing, camel ride, henna and a vegetarian BBQ dinner at the camp.
- Day 4: Day trip to Abu Dhabi – Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Ferrari World or Warner Bros. World for the children (one park included), Corniche drive.
- Day 5: Choice day – Global Village and Miracle Garden (November–April), or Aquaventure water park at Atlantis, or IMG Worlds. Evening shopping at Meena Bazaar.
- Day 6: Fly Dubai–Ahmedabad.
Typical cost: ₹70,000–90,000 per adult in a 4-star hotel including flights and UAE visa; children 2–11 sharing the room about ₹55,000. Dubai is comfortable from November to March; in May it is above 40°C, so for the summer vacation we steer families to Singapore or the hills.

Family tour packages from Ahmedabad – frequently asked questions
How much does a family tour package from Ahmedabad cost?
Drive-holidays to Mount Abu or Udaipur start under ₹10,000 per person. A 4–5 night flown domestic trip to Goa, Kerala or Himachal costs ₹20,000–34,000 per adult in 3-star hotels including flights; Dubai or Thailand ₹48,000–65,000; Singapore ₹70,000–85,000. Children aged 5–11 usually pay 60–75% of the adult price.
Which is the best family destination for the May school vacation?
Kashmir, Himachal and Uttarakhand for snow-capped views and cool weather; Munnar, Coorg and Ooty in the south; Singapore and Europe internationally. Avoid Dubai, Rajasthan and the Goa coast in May because of the heat. Book Kashmir and Europe by the end of February – May is their peak month.
Where should a Gujarati family go for Diwali?
Kerala, Goa, Andaman and Rajasthan are the most-booked domestic Diwali trips; Dubai, Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam internationally. The weather is right everywhere after the monsoon, but it is the busiest week of the year, so we open Diwali bookings in August and recommend confirming by the end of that month.
Do you charge for children, and how are child rates worked out?
Children under 5 usually pay only their airfare and ticketed attractions. Children 5–11 sharing the parents' room pay a child rate – lower without an extra bed, higher with one. From 12 years most hotels charge adult rates. We always quote with the hotel's exact age bands so there are no surprises at check-in.
Can you book connecting rooms for our family?
Yes. We request interconnecting rooms in writing and, where it matters (grandparents, older children), pick hotels we know can guarantee them. In Dubai, Singapore and Thailand family rooms for four are common; in Indian hill stations we often book adjacent rooms or a cottage instead.
Is pure-vegetarian or Jain food available on family trips?
Yes. In Gujarat, Rajasthan and Himachal pure-veg hotels are the norm. In Kerala, Kashmir, Andaman and abroad we confirm Jain or pure-veg meals with the hotel or arrange dinners at Gujarati and Indian restaurants, and it is written into your voucher. For large family groups we pre-book Gujarati dinners at each stop.
Which destinations are best for children under 10?
Goa, Kerala, Dubai and Singapore. All have short or non-stop flights from Ahmedabad, at most two hotel changes, pools, and food children recognise. Dubai and Singapore add theme parks and aquariums; Kerala adds the houseboat night, which children remember for years.
Is Kashmir safe and comfortable for a family with grandparents?
Yes. We keep Srinagar as the base with day trips to Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonmarg, so there is only one hotel change if any. Houseboats on Dal Lake and hotels with lifts are chosen for seniors, drives are under three hours, and pure-veg meals are easy. Non-stop Ahmedabad–Srinagar flights make the journey short.
How many days are ideal for a family holiday?
Four to six nights. Shorter trips mean too much travel per day of holiday; longer ones tire young children and grandparents. Goa, Dubai and Singapore work in 4 nights; Kerala, Kashmir, Thailand and Andaman in 5–6; Rajasthan by road in 5; Europe needs 10–12 nights.
Can a large extended family or friend group travel together with you?
Yes. Extended families and friend groups of 10–40 people travel together as a private group on their own dates – we arrange a Tempo Traveller or coach, block rooms in one hotel, pre-book Gujarati dinners and assign one consultant to the whole party. Kashmir, Himachal, Kerala, Dubai, Singapore, Thailand and Europe are the most-booked family-group destinations from Ahmedabad.
Can we take our own car for a short family trip from Ahmedabad?
Yes. Mount Abu (about 4½ hours), Udaipur (about 5 hours), Saputara (about 6 hours), Daman (about 6 hours) and Statue of Unity (about 3½ hours) are all drivable. We book the hotels, sightseeing and meals, and you drive; or we provide an Innova or Tempo Traveller with driver for larger families.
What documents do children need to travel?
For domestic flights a school ID, Aadhaar or birth certificate is enough for children under 12. For international trips every child, including infants, needs their own passport with 6 months validity, and visas are applied per person – we handle them. Carry a birth certificate copy if the child's surname differs from the parents'.
