Since the Ram Mandir opened in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh has become the most-requested pilgrimage destination at our Ahmedabad office after Char Dham. Gujarati families now plan two distinct trips here: the eastern circuit of Kashi (Varanasi), Ayodhya and Prayagraj, which fits into 4–5 nights with a non-stop flight from Ahmedabad to Varanasi; and the Braj circuit of Mathura and Vrindavan with Agra and the Taj Mahal, which fits into 3–4 nights via Delhi. Lucknow's Nawabi heritage and the Buddhist sites at Sarnath and Kushinagar are easy additions for travellers with more time.
Below the live packages you will find a price guide, how to reach each circuit from Ahmedabad by air and train, three day-wise itineraries, a darshan and aarti logistics guide for Ram Mandir, Kashi Vishwanath and Banke Bihari (including the Taj's Friday closure), a month-by-month calendar, and food and pacing notes for senior citizens.
Uttar Pradesh tour package price guide (2026)
Packages on this page start at ₹5,999 per person. Uttar Pradesh is good value: hotels in Varanasi, Ayodhya and Vrindavan range from clean dharamshala-style guesthouses to riverside heritage palaces, and distances are covered by road in 3–5 hours. The bands below are per person on twin sharing with breakfast and a private car, excluding flights or trains from Ahmedabad.
| Trip | Standard (3★) | Deluxe (4★) | Premium (5★ / heritage ghat hotels) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2N/3D Kashi darshan with Sarnath | ₹7,000 – 10,000 | ₹12,000 – 17,000 | ₹28,000+ |
| 4N/5D Kashi – Prayagraj – Ayodhya | ₹13,000 – 18,000 | ₹21,000 – 30,000 | ₹45,000+ |
| 5N/6D Kashi – Ayodhya – Lucknow | ₹16,000 – 22,000 | ₹25,000 – 35,000 | ₹50,000+ |
| 3N/4D Mathura – Vrindavan – Agra | ₹10,000 – 14,000 | ₹16,000 – 23,000 | ₹35,000+ |
| 4N/5D Delhi – Mathura – Vrindavan – Agra | ₹13,000 – 18,000 | ₹20,000 – 28,000 | ₹42,000+ |
| 7N/8D complete UP (Kashi, Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Lucknow, Agra, Vrindavan) | ₹26,000 – 34,000 | ₹40,000 – 55,000 | ₹80,000+ |
Add for travel from Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad–Varanasi flights are usually ₹4,500–8,500 one way, Ahmedabad–Lucknow ₹3,500–7,000, Ahmedabad–Delhi ₹3,000–6,000; 3AC train fares to Varanasi, Mathura or Agra are roughly ₹1,500–2,500 per person. Usually extra on the ground: Kashi Vishwanath sugam darshan and Mangala aarti tickets, Ganga aarti boat seats, Taj Mahal and Agra Fort entry, Prem Mandir and ISKCON donations, Sangam boat ride, e-rickshaws in the lanes and any VIP darshan arrangements. Every quote lists them.
How to reach Uttar Pradesh from Ahmedabad
| For this circuit | Fly | Train | On the ground |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kashi – Prayagraj – Ayodhya | Ahmedabad–Varanasi non-stop, about 2 h; Ahmedabad–Ayodhya non-stop flights have operated since 2024 on selected days, otherwise via Delhi; Ahmedabad–Lucknow non-stop about 1 h 45 min | Sabarmati–Varanasi and Ahmedabad–Varanasi trains, 27–30 h; good for groups who prefer rail | Varanasi–Prayagraj 125 km (3 h); Prayagraj–Ayodhya 170 km (4 h); Ayodhya–Varanasi 220 km (4–5 h); Ayodhya–Lucknow 135 km (3 h) |
| Mathura – Vrindavan – Agra | Ahmedabad–Delhi, 1 h 30 min, then 3 h by road on the Yamuna Expressway to Mathura; Agra airport has limited flights | Ahmedabad–Mathura Junction trains on the Delhi route, about 13–14 h overnight; Ahmedabad–Agra Fort trains, 17–18 h | Mathura–Vrindavan 12 km; Mathura–Agra 55 km (1½ h); Agra–Delhi 230 km (3½ h) |
| Lucknow – Agra heritage | Ahmedabad–Lucknow non-stop | Ahmedabad–Lucknow trains, about 22–24 h | Lucknow–Agra 330 km (4–5 h on the Expressway) |
- Our usual routing for the eastern circuit: fly Ahmedabad–Varanasi, drive the Kashi–Prayagraj–Ayodhya triangle, and fly home from Ayodhya or Lucknow so you never backtrack.
- For Braj: fly Ahmedabad–Delhi, drive to Vrindavan the same afternoon, finish in Agra and return to Delhi for the flight; or take the overnight train to Mathura and fly back from Delhi.
- Vehicles: a private Dzire, Innova Crysta or Tempo Traveller with a Hindi-speaking driver. Inside Varanasi's old city and Vrindavan's lanes, cars stop at the perimeter and you switch to e-rickshaws or walk; we build this into the day.
Best Uttar Pradesh itineraries for Gujarati pilgrims and families
4 nights / 5 days – Kashi, Prayagraj and Ayodhya (pilgrimage)
- Day 1: Fly Ahmedabad–Varanasi, check in near Godowlia or on the ghats. Evening Ganga aarti at Dashashwamedh ghat from a reserved boat.
- Day 2: Pre-dawn boat ride on the Ganga, Kashi Vishwanath darshan with pre-booked sugam tickets, Annapurna and Kal Bhairav temples; afternoon Sarnath (10 km); Sankat Mochan Hanuman and BHU Vishwanath temples.
- Day 3: Drive to Prayagraj (3 h). Triveni Sangam boat ride and snan, Bade Hanuman temple, Akshayavat inside the fort, Anand Bhavan. Drive on to Ayodhya (4 h).
- Day 4: Hanuman Garhi first, then Ram Mandir darshan with a pre-booked aarti pass if you wish, Kanak Bhawan, Nageshwarnath temple; Saryu aarti at Ram ki Paidi in the evening.
- Day 5: Fly home from Ayodhya, or drive to Lucknow (3 h) for the Ahmedabad flight.
3 nights / 4 days – Mathura, Vrindavan and Agra (family)
- Day 1: Fly Ahmedabad–Delhi, drive to Vrindavan (3 h). Evening darshan at Banke Bihari (evening timings vary by season), then Prem Mandir's illuminated show after dark.
- Day 2: ISKCON mangala aarti for early risers, Radha Raman, Nidhivan, Seva Kunj, Radha Vallabh; afternoon Mathura – Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi, Dwarkadhish temple, Vishram ghat aarti.
- Day 3: Govardhan parikrama by car with stops at Radha Kund and Kusum Sarovar, Barsana and Nandgaon for those who want the full Braj; drive to Agra (1½ h).
- Day 4: Taj Mahal at sunrise (not on a Friday – we plan the week around this), Agra Fort, Mehtab Bagh view; drive to Delhi for the evening flight to Ahmedabad.
7 nights / 8 days – complete Uttar Pradesh
Follow the 4-night eastern circuit, add a night in Lucknow (Bara Imambara, Rumi Darwaza, Hazratganj, the famous chaat and kulfi), take the Expressway to Agra (4–5 h) for the Taj and Fort, then two nights in Vrindavan and Mathura before flying home from Delhi. With a ninth night we add Chitrakoot or Naimisharanya for families on a full tirth yatra.
Senior citizens and slower pacing
Most Uttar Pradesh bookings from Ahmedabad include parents or grandparents. For them we add a night (5N/6D for the eastern circuit), schedule only one major darshan per half-day, use the sugam darshan line at Kashi Vishwanath and the wheelchair facility at Ram Mandir, book ghat-side hotels so the Ganga aarti is a short walk, and avoid Vrindavan's Banke Bihari at peak evening hours in favour of the quieter morning darshan. Boats, e-rickshaws and porters are arranged, and ghat steps are taken slowly with a helper.
Darshan and aarti guide – Ram Mandir, Kashi Vishwanath, Banke Bihari and the Taj
Ram Mandir, Ayodhya
- General darshan is free and runs from early morning to night with a short afternoon break; on a normal weekday it takes 45 minutes to 2 hours. Weekends, Ram Navami (usually March–April), Diwali and the January anniversary draw very large crowds.
- Passes for Mangala, Shringar and Shayan aarti are issued free against a photo ID through the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust's website or counter; numbers are limited and we apply as soon as your dates are fixed.
- Mobile phones, cameras, bags and electronics are not allowed inside; free lockers are provided near the entry. By tradition devotees visit Hanuman Garhi first, then Ram Mandir, then Kanak Bhawan.
- Wheelchairs are available for seniors; the walk from the drop point to the sanctum is long, so allow time.
Kashi Vishwanath, Varanasi
- Enter through the new Vishwanath Dham corridor from Lalita ghat or Gate 4 near Godowlia. Free darshan queues can run 2–3 hours in season; the paid sugam darshan ticket (a few hundred rupees per person) shortens this considerably.
- The temple has five daily aartis – Mangala at about 3 am, then Bhog, Saptrishi, Shringar and Shayan. Mangala aarti tickets are the most sought-after and are booked online on the temple's official site weeks ahead; we handle this.
- Only the Ganga aarti at Dashashwamedh ghat is free and open to all; it starts around sunset (about 6:45 pm in winter) and lasts 45 minutes. A reserved boat seat gives seniors a comfortable view without the crowd on the steps.
- Dev Deepawali (Kartik Purnima, usually in November, about two weeks after Diwali) is the most spectacular night of the year on the ghats – and the most expensive; hotels sell out two months ahead.
Banke Bihari and Prem Mandir, Vrindavan
- Banke Bihari opens for a few hours in the morning and again in the evening, with summer and winter timings that differ by about an hour; there is no online pass system, and the evening darshan is crowded with pushing. We send seniors in the morning slot and keep the evening for Prem Mandir, whose fountain-and-light show begins after dark.
- Holi week (usually March) in Barsana, Nandgaon and Vrindavan is unforgettable and extremely crowded; Janmashtami (usually August–September) is similar in Mathura. Book three months ahead for either.
Taj Mahal, Agra
- The Taj is closed every Friday. It opens half an hour before sunrise and closes half an hour before sunset; sunrise entry gives the best light and the shortest queue. Indian citizens pay a nominal ticket plus a separate ticket to enter the main mausoleum.
- Night viewing is permitted on and around full-moon nights (not Fridays or during Ramzan) with limited advance tickets. Mehtab Bagh across the river gives a free sunset view.
Best time to visit Uttar Pradesh – month by month
| Months | Weather | Good for | Prices |
|---|---|---|---|
| October – November | Pleasant, 18–32°C; mornings misty by late November | Diwali vacation darshan trips from Gujarat; Dev Deepawali in Kashi (usually November); Agra and Vrindavan comfortable | High in Diwali and Dev Deepawali weeks |
| December – January | Cold and foggy, 5–20°C; fog can delay morning flights and trains | Christmas and New Year trips; Magh Mela in Prayagraj begins mid-January; Taj in winter mist | Peak in the last week of December; otherwise moderate |
| February – March | Ideal, 12–28°C | Mahashivratri in Kashi (usually February–March); Holi week in Braj (usually March); best all-round weather | High during Holi in Vrindavan; moderate elsewhere |
| April – June | Very hot, 35–45°C; dry heat | Ram Navami in Ayodhya (usually April); May vacation trips are possible with early-morning darshan and afternoon rest | Lowest hotel rates; good 5-star deals in Varanasi and Agra |
| July – September (monsoon) | Humid, 28–36°C; the Ganga rises and some ghat steps are submerged | Shravan month at Kashi Vishwanath (very crowded on Mondays); Janmashtami in Mathura (usually August–September) | Low to moderate |
For Gujarati families the best windows are October–November and February–March. If you must travel in May, we schedule darshan before 9 am, keep the afternoon in an air-conditioned hotel and move again after 5 pm.

Food, hotels and tips for Gujarati travellers
- Pure-veg and Jain food: Uttar Pradesh's pilgrim towns are among the easiest in India. Varanasi has Gujarati Samaj dharamshala meals and Jain restaurants around Godowlia; Vrindavan is almost entirely sattvic, with onion-and-garlic-free food the norm and several Gujarati dharamshalas and bhojanalayas; Ayodhya's food scene is simple and vegetarian; Agra and Lucknow have good Gujarati and Jain restaurants near the main hotels. Street food – Banarasi chaat, kachori-sabzi, malaiyo in winter, Mathura peda, Agra petha – is vegetarian but ask us where to eat safely.
- Hotel categories: Varanasi offers everything from guesthouses in the lanes to heritage palaces on the ghats; Ayodhya's hotel supply has grown fast and includes new 3- and 4-star properties; Vrindavan has clean 3-star hotels and ashram guesthouses, with a few upscale options near Prem Mandir; Agra and Lucknow have full 5-star choice.
- Pack: modest clothing for temples, slip-on footwear for frequent removal, a shawl or light woollen for winter mornings on the ghats, a small cloth bag for prasad, and a printout of every darshan pass with the matching photo ID.
- Money and connectivity: UPI works at nearly every stall; carry some cash for boats, e-rickshaws and dakshina. Signal is fine throughout.
- Timings to remember: Taj Mahal closed Fridays; Kashi Vishwanath Mangala aarti tickets booked weeks ahead; Ram Mandir afternoon break; Banke Bihari closed in the afternoon with seasonal timings; Ganga aarti at sunset.
- Crowd days: Mondays in Shravan at Kashi, weekends and Ram Navami in Ayodhya, Holi and Janmashtami in Braj, Dev Deepawali in Varanasi. Mid-week travel halves your queue time everywhere.

Uttar Pradesh tour packages – frequently asked questions
How much does a Kashi–Ayodhya–Prayagraj package cost from Ahmedabad?
Packages on this page start at ₹5,999 per person. A 4-night Kashi–Prayagraj–Ayodhya trip with 3-star hotels and a private car costs ₹13,000–18,000 per person excluding flights, or ₹21,000–30,000 in 4-star. Ahmedabad–Varanasi flights add roughly ₹4,500–8,500 one way; the return from Ayodhya or Lucknow is similar.
Is there a direct flight from Ahmedabad to Varanasi or Ayodhya?
Yes, Ahmedabad–Varanasi non-stop flights take about 2 hours and operate daily. Ahmedabad–Ayodhya non-stop flights have operated since 2024 on selected days; when they do not suit your dates we route you via Delhi or fly you home from Lucknow, which has a daily non-stop to Ahmedabad of about 1 h 45 min.
How do I get a Ram Mandir aarti pass?
Aarti passes for Mangala, Shringar and Shayan aarti are issued free by the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust against a photo ID, online or at the counter in Ayodhya, in limited numbers. General darshan needs no pass. We apply for your passes as soon as your dates are fixed and attach them to your vouchers; carry the same ID you registered with.
How many days are enough for Varanasi, Ayodhya and Prayagraj?
Four nights is the comfortable minimum: two in Varanasi, one in Prayagraj (or a day stop) and one in Ayodhya. Senior groups should take five nights so each major darshan has its own half-day. Add a sixth night for Lucknow or Chitrakoot.
Can I combine Mathura–Vrindavan with the Taj Mahal?
Yes, this is our most popular Braj package: fly to Delhi, two nights in Vrindavan for Banke Bihari, Prem Mandir, ISKCON and Mathura, then one night in Agra for the Taj at sunrise and Agra Fort, and back to Delhi for the flight. Agra is only 1½ hours from Mathura. We never schedule Agra on a Friday because the Taj is closed.
Is the Taj Mahal closed on any day?
Yes – the Taj Mahal is closed every Friday except for Friday prayers by locals. On other days it opens 30 minutes before sunrise and closes 30 minutes before sunset. Night viewing is allowed on and around full-moon nights with advance tickets, except Fridays and during Ramzan. We plan your Agra day accordingly.
Is pure-vegetarian and Jain food available in Uttar Pradesh?
Very easily. Varanasi, Vrindavan, Ayodhya and Mathura are vegetarian pilgrim towns with Gujarati dharamshalas, Gujarati Samaj dining halls and Jain restaurants; Vrindavan food is largely onion-and-garlic-free by default. Agra and Lucknow have Gujarati and Jain restaurants near the main hotels. We confirm pure-veg or Jain meals in writing with every hotel.
Is Uttar Pradesh suitable for senior citizens?
Yes, with the right pacing. We add a night, keep one major darshan per half-day, use sugam darshan at Kashi Vishwanath and the wheelchair facility at Ram Mandir, book hotels near the ghats, arrange e-rickshaws for the lanes, and schedule Banke Bihari in the quieter morning slot. Ghat steps are steep, so we assign a helper for boat boarding.
Which is the best month to visit Kashi and Ayodhya?
October to March. October–November has pleasant weather and Dev Deepawali; February–March has the best all-round weather with Mahashivratri and Holi. December–January is cold and foggy, which can delay morning flights. April to June is very hot (40°C+) but workable with early-morning darshan; hotel rates are lowest then.
How do I book Kashi Vishwanath sugam darshan and Mangala aarti tickets?
Both are booked on the temple's official website. Sugam darshan tickets cost a few hundred rupees and cut the queue from hours to about 30–45 minutes; Mangala aarti (about 3 am) tickets are limited and sell out weeks ahead in season. We book them with your hotel and send you the e-tickets; carry the registered photo ID.
What is usually not included in an Uttar Pradesh package?
Flights or trains unless added, Kashi Vishwanath sugam darshan and aarti tickets, Ganga aarti boat seats, Taj Mahal and Agra Fort entry, Sangam boat ride, e-rickshaw fares inside old-city lanes, temple donations and dakshina, lunches and dinners unless specified, personal expenses and 5% GST. Every quote shows inclusions and exclusions side by side.
Can I customise the Uttar Pradesh package for an extended family?
Yes. Every trip is a private, customised itinerary – your own car and driver, your own dates. Add Chitrakoot, Naimisharanya or the Buddhist circuit, upgrade to a ghat-side heritage hotel in Varanasi, or combine Kashi with Gaya and Bodh Gaya. Extended families and friend groups travel together as a private group in a Tempo Traveller. Call 1800-313-4262 or WhatsApp us the package.
