Dubai With Kids: 5-Day Family Plan From Ahmedabad

Dubai with kids is one of the easiest international trips a Gujarati family can do: a three-hour non-stop flight from Ahmedabad, a time difference of just ninety minutes, pure-veg food on every second street in Karama, and a city that has quietly become one giant children's playground between November and March. The trouble is the opposite of most destinations. There is too much to do, every attraction is ticketed, and a family of three can burn through ₹25,000 in a single day without planning. This guide is the plan we give families who walk into our C G Road office asking "Dubai ma bachcha o mate shu karvu?" It covers what actually suits children by age, what each ticket costs as of October 2026, a realistic 5-day order, and the small things (metro rules, Jain food, jacket for the desert) that make the trip smooth.

Is Dubai good for kids, and at what age?

Yes, but different Dubai for different ages. In our experience planning family trips since 2015, the sweet spot is 5 to 12 years: tall enough for most rides, old enough to remember the Burj Khalifa, young enough to be thrilled by a camel. Toddlers and babies still travel well because Dubai is stroller-friendly, air-conditioned and full of clean washrooms, but you will pay adult-level prices for attractions they will not appreciate, so keep the ticketed list short. Teenagers want Motiongate, Aquaventure and the Marina, not the souks. Grandparents joining in? Dubai is one of the kindest cities for a three-generation trip: lifts everywhere, wheelchairs at malls and the airport, and a desert safari camp that lets Dadi skip the dune bashing and still enjoy the dinner show.

Timing matters more than age. Daytime temperatures from November to March sit around 20–30°C; December and January mornings can be 15–18°C, so pack a light jacket for the desert evening and the open-air fountain shows. April to October is simply too hot for outdoor parks with small children; even then, the indoor options (IMG Worlds, Dubai Mall, Ski Dubai) work, but you lose the beach and the desert. Gujarat primary schools' Diwali vacation runs roughly 5–25 November in 2026, which lands right at the start of the good season, and the Dubai Shopping Festival (32nd edition, 4 December 2026 to 17 January 2027) adds nightly fireworks and markets.

What things to do in Dubai with kids actually cost (October 2026)

Prices below are the published online rates we found in October 2026, converted at roughly ₹26 to a dirham. Gate prices are higher, dynamic pricing applies on peak dates, and parks change rates without notice, so treat these as planning figures and let us confirm at booking.

Attraction Adult Child Best for / note
Burj Khalifa, At the Top (L124/125) AED 209 off-peak, AED 259 peak (≈₹5,400–6,700) Ages 3–8: AED 145–165; under 3 free Book a 9–10 am slot: cheaper and no queue for prams
Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo (basic) AED 199 (≈₹5,200) Same AED 199 from age 2; under 2 free Includes tunnel, zoo and Penguin Cove; the big tank is visible free from the mall
IMG Worlds of Adventure ≈AED 340 online, AED 365 gate (≈₹8,800–9,500) No age-based child ticket; ride access by height Fully indoor; Marvel and Cartoon Network zones suit 6+
Aquaventure Waterpark, Atlantis AED 350 for 1.2 m+ or age 8+ (≈₹9,100) AED 300 for ages 3–7 under 1.2 m; under 3 free 10 am–6.30 pm; Splashers kids' zones have no height limit
LEGOLAND Dubai ≈AED 155–195 online park-only; ≈AED 200–270 with water park Same ticket from age 3; under 3 free Built for ages 3–12; season reopened 7 Oct 2026
MOTIONGATE Dubai From AED 295 (≈₹7,700) Check height limits per ride Better for 10+; big coasters
Global Village (Season 31) AED 25 weekdays, AED 30 Fri–Sun and holidays (≈₹650–780) Rides paid separately inside Open 14 Oct 2026 to May 2027; 4 pm–midnight, 1 am Thu–Sat
Dubai Miracle Garden (Season 15) AED 100 (≈₹2,600) AED 90; under 3 free 9 am–9 pm; go at opening before the sun is high
Dubai Fountain show, Dubai Mall Free Free Evening shows every 30 minutes; stand on the Souk Al Bahar bridge

A rough rule for a family of two adults and one child under eight: budget about ₹30,000–40,000 for attractions over five days if you pick one big theme park, one water park, the Burj Khalifa and the aquarium, and fill the rest with free or cheap things (fountain, Global Village, beaches, the creek abra). Skip the water park and the figure drops by roughly ₹20,000. Our Dubai tour packages from Ahmedabad page has the hotel and package price bands if you want the full trip cost rather than tickets alone.

Flights from Ahmedabad with children

Ahmedabad has non-stop flights to Dubai International (DXB) on Emirates, IndiGo and flydubai, and to Sharjah (SHJ) on Air Arabia; Sharjah is 30–45 minutes by road from Deira and often cheaper. Flying time is about three hours, so children do not need the elaborate long-haul kit; a tablet, a change of clothes and their own small backpack are enough. On a search we ran on 30 October 2026 for two adults and one child (ages 2–11) with a checked bag each, non-stop return fares came to about ₹1,13,000 in early February 2027 and about ₹1,35,000 for Christmas week (19–24 December), so roughly ₹38,000–45,000 per person. These are indicative and vary by date; Diwali week and 20 December to 5 January are the peaks, and booking six to eight weeks ahead usually saves 20–30 percent.

Two practical points. Emirates EK541 departs Ahmedabad around 9.45 am and lands at 11.25 am local time, which means you reach the hotel by 1 pm with the afternoon free; Air Arabia's 5 am departure from Ahmedabad is cheaper but means waking children at 2 am. Infants under two fly on a lap fare (usually about 10 percent of the adult fare plus taxes) but still need their own passport and UAE visa.

UAE visa for children: what changes

Every family member, including infants, needs a UAE tourist visa unless you qualify for visa on arrival (a valid US, UK or Schengen visa or residence permit, or a residence permit from Singapore, Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand or Canada). As of October 2026 a 30-day tourist visa costs about ₹7,000–9,000 per person all-in, and children pay the same in the winter season; the UAE has waived fees for under-18s only in some past summers (mid-July to mid-September), so do not count on it for a November or December trip. For a child you will need the passport scan (valid six months beyond arrival), a white-background photo, copies of both parents' passports, and a notarised consent letter if the child travels with only one parent. Allow three to five working days. Our Dubai visa guide for Indian passport holders has the full document list and current fees. We process the visas with the booking, but approval is always the UAE immigration authority's decision, so apply at least ten days before departure.

A 5-day Dubai itinerary with kids (4 nights)

The order below avoids back-to-back early mornings, keeps the two tiring days (theme park and desert) apart, and ends with the gentle creek day so that nobody is exhausted for the flight home.

Day 1 – Arrive, Dubai Mall and the Fountain

Land, check in, nap. Around 4 pm take the metro or a taxi to Dubai Mall. Let the children watch the aquarium's main tank from the mall floor for free, visit the Dubai Dino skeleton, and buy the aquarium ticket only if they are hooked. At 6 pm the Dubai Fountain starts; take the waterfront walkway or the Souk Al Bahar bridge, watch two shows, then eat at one of the Indian veg outlets in the mall food court or ride back to Karama for a thali.

Day 2 – Theme park day

Choose one park, not two. For children under eight, LEGOLAND Dubai (Dubai Parks and Resorts, about 35 minutes from Downtown) is the easy winner: low height limits, shaded play areas, a Duplo zone for toddlers. For 8–14 year olds, IMG Worlds of Adventure is indoor, air-conditioned and has real roller coasters. Motiongate suits teens. Reach at opening (10 am), carry water bottles (refill points exist), and leave by 4 pm. If energy allows, Global Village is a 15-minute taxi from IMG and perfect for an evening of street food, the fireworks and the India and Pakistan pavilions; entry is only AED 25–30 and children run free in the open space.

Day 3 – Burj Khalifa morning, desert evening

Book the 9 or 9.30 am At the Top slot: off-peak pricing, short queues and good light for photos. Budget 90 minutes. Then the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo if you skipped it on Day 1 (the Penguin Cove is the children's favourite). Return to the hotel by 1 pm for lunch and a two-hour rest, because the desert safari pickup is around 3 pm. Choose a family camp: camel ride, sand boarding, henna, a children's play corner, and a buffet with a vegetarian section (confirm Jain or no-onion-garlic in advance; good operators manage it). If anyone is under five, pregnant, or has a back problem, ask the driver to skip or soften the dune bashing. You will be back by 9.30 pm.

Day 4 – Water or flowers, then the Marina

Two good options. Water-lovers go to Aquaventure on the Palm: arrive at 10 am, use the Splashers zones for small children, and leave by 3 pm before the chill sets in (December and January water can feel cold by late afternoon). Families with toddlers or grandparents go instead to Miracle Garden at 9 am, when the paths are empty and the sun is low, and spend the afternoon on the Palm Monorail or at a beach. Either way, end at Dubai Marina: a sunset walk, a 45-minute dhow or yacht cruise with a vegetarian dinner, and the Ain Dubai wheel lit up behind you.

Day 5 – Old Dubai and fly home

Keep the last morning slow. Take a one-dirham abra across the creek from Bur Dubai to Deira, walk through the Spice Souk (children love the saffron and dried-lime smells), and let them pick a small souvenir at the Gold Souk or Meena Bazaar. Lunch at a Gujarati thali place in Bur Dubai, then the airport. If your return flight is late, Al Seef's waterfront is a pleasant place to kill two hours with a stroller.

Have six days? Add an Abu Dhabi day for the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the BAPS Hindu Mandir and Ferrari World or Warner Bros. World on Yas Island; our Dubai packages page explains when it is worth the two-hour drive each way.

Pure veg and Jain food in Dubai with children

This is the part Gujarati parents worry about most and the part that is easiest. Karama and Bur Dubai (around Meena Bazaar and Al Mankhool) have the densest cluster of Indian vegetarian restaurants outside India: Maharaja Bhog and Rajdhani for unlimited Gujarati-Rajasthani thalis, Rasoi Ghar in Bur Dubai, Shri Krishna Bhavan and Sagar Ratna for South Indian breakfasts, and My Govinda's in Karama for satvik food cooked without onion and garlic. For strict Jain meals, call a day ahead and ask for "Jain, no root vegetables"; most of these kitchens handle it daily. Hotels in Bur Dubai and Deira usually offer an Indian breakfast; in Downtown or Marina hotels the breakfast is continental, so carry theplas and khakhra for fussy eaters. Dubai Mall and the theme parks all have at least one Indian or vegetarian-friendly counter, but prices inside the parks run two to three times street prices, so a packed snack box saves money and tantrums. Tap water is safe in hotels but tastes of chlorine; bottled water is cheap at supermarkets and expensive at attractions.

Getting around Dubai with kids

The Dubai Metro is clean, cool and a ride in itself for children; the front carriage is a Gold Class cabin and there is a dedicated carriage for women and children. Children aged five and under travel free. For a family, a Nol Silver card (AED 25, including AED 19 of credit) per paying person is simplest; fares run AED 3–7.5 depending on zones. Taxis are metered and plentiful, and for a family of four a taxi is often cheaper than four metro fares across the city. Strollers are fine almost everywhere, including the metro, malls and theme parks. Keep a copy of each passport and the visa on your phone; hotels and some attractions ask for ID at check-in.

Family tips we repeat to every client

Book the Burj Khalifa and theme parks online before you leave India; gate prices are higher and peak slots sell out in DSF weeks. Pack for two climates: light cottons for the day, a jacket for the desert, the fountain and malls that are cooled to 20°C. Weekends in the UAE are Saturday and Sunday; theme parks and Global Village are far quieter from Monday to Thursday. Buy travel insurance that covers children; a GP visit in Dubai costs several thousand rupees and park accidents happen (see our travel insurance options). Carry a small amount of cash in dirhams for abras and souk purchases and use a forex card elsewhere (our forex desk loads cards the same day). Finally, plan one empty afternoon in five days; the children's favourite memory is often the hotel pool.

FAQs: Dubai with kids

How many days are enough for Dubai with children?

Four nights and five days covers one theme park, the Burj Khalifa, the aquarium, a desert safari and the creek without rushing. Add a sixth day for Abu Dhabi or a second park.

Which Dubai theme park is best for small children?

LEGOLAND Dubai is built for ages 3–12 and has the lowest height limits. IMG Worlds is better for ages 8 and up, and Motiongate for teenagers.

Do children need a separate UAE visa?

Is Jain food available in Dubai?

Yes. Karama and Bur Dubai have several Gujarati and satvik restaurants that prepare Jain meals with a day's notice, and we arrange Jain food at the desert camp and on dinner cruises.

Is a desert safari safe for toddlers and grandparents?

The camp, camel ride and dinner are fine for all ages. The dune bashing can be skipped or softened on request; tell the operator about under-fives, pregnancy or back problems when booking.

What is the best month for a Dubai family trip from Ahmedabad?

November to February: 20–30°C days, all seasonal attractions open (Global Village, Miracle Garden) and the Dubai Shopping Festival from 4 December 2026 to 17 January 2027. Fares peak around Diwali and Christmas–New Year.
