Uttarakhand sells two holidays that have almost nothing in common. One is a hill holiday: boating on Naini lake, the Mussoorie Mall Road, a jeep safari in Jim Corbett and Ganga aarti at Rishikesh – the kind of trip a family from Ahmedabad takes in the May vacation. The other is the yatra: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath, which parents and grandparents have been asking us about for eleven years and which needs a completely different kind of planning. Most websites mix the two into one list. We have split this page into both tracks so you can read the half that applies to you.
All 179 packages below show live prices. Keep scrolling for how to reach Dehradun and Haridwar from Ahmedabad (there is a direct flight and a daily train), three day-wise itineraries, a Char Dham and Corbett buyer's guide, a month-by-month calendar including when the temples open and close, and the pure-veg food reality of each town.
Uttarakhand tour package price guide (2026)
Uttarakhand packages on this page start at ₹8,200 per person. Hill-station trips are priced like any other holiday – by nights and hotel category. Yatra packages are priced by route (Do Dham or Char Dham), by road or helicopter, and by the standard of the very limited accommodation at the dhams. Bands below are per person on twin sharing with a private AC vehicle, breakfast and dinner, excluding flights and trains from Ahmedabad.
| Trip | Standard (3★ / clean guest houses) | Deluxe (4★) | Premium (5★ / resorts) |

Add for transport from Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad–Dehradun return flights are usually ₹8,000–13,000 per person booked a month ahead; Ahmedabad–Haridwar by train in 3AC is roughly ₹2,500–3,500 per person each way. Usually extra on the ground: Corbett jeep safari and permit (about ₹5,000–7,000 per jeep for Indian visitors), river rafting and bungee at Rishikesh, Nainital and Mussoorie ropeways, Kempty falls entry, pony/palki/helicopter shuttles at Kedarnath and Yamunotri, VIP darshan tickets, and 5% GST. Every quote itemises these.
How to reach Uttarakhand from Ahmedabad
- By air to Dehradun (recommended for hills and yatra): non-stop flights from Ahmedabad SVPI to Dehradun (Jolly Grant airport) take about 2 hours. Dehradun is 35 km from Mussoorie (1½ h), 20 km from Rishikesh (45 min) and 40 km from Haridwar (1 h). It is also the start point for Char Dham helicopter packages.
- By air to Delhi, then road: Ahmedabad–Delhi flights take about 1 h 30 min. Delhi–Haridwar is 220 km (4½–5 h on the expressway), Delhi–Nainital about 300 km (7 h), Delhi–Corbett about 250 km (6 h). Useful when Dehradun fares are high or you are combining Agra or Delhi.
- By train to Haridwar: the Yoga Express runs daily from Ahmedabad to Haridwar and takes roughly 30 hours; other trains connect Ahmedabad to Dehradun and to Delhi, from where Vande Bharat and Shatabdi services reach Haridwar and Dehradun in 4–5 hours. Many senior yatris prefer the direct train, with our car and driver waiting at Haridwar station.
- For Kumaon (Nainital, Corbett): fly Ahmedabad–Delhi and take a train to Kathgodam (for Nainital, 35 km) or Ramnagar (for Corbett), or drive. Pantnagar airport near Nainital has limited connections.
| Route within Uttarakhand | Distance | Drive time |
|---|---|---|
| Dehradun – Mussoorie | 35 km | 1 – 1½ h |
| Haridwar – Rishikesh | 25 km | 45 min |
| Rishikesh – Corbett (Ramnagar) | 180 km | 4½ – 5 h |
| Corbett – Nainital | 65 km | 2 h |
| Haridwar – Barkot (for Yamunotri) | 200 km | 7 h |
| Haridwar – Guptkashi / Sitapur (for Kedarnath) | 215 km | 8 h |
| Guptkashi – Badrinath | 200 km | 7 – 8 h |
| Badrinath – Rishikesh | 295 km | 9 – 10 h |

Buyer's guide: Char Dham registration, Corbett zones and Nainital vs Mussoorie
Char Dham – what first-time yatris need to know
- Season: the four temples open around late April or early May (Yamunotri and Gangotri on Akshaya Tritiya, Kedarnath and Badrinath a few days later) and close in late October or early November around Diwali and Bhai Dooj. The best windows are May–June and mid-September–October; July–August is the monsoon with landslide risk.
- Registration: every yatri must register on the Uttarakhand government portal (or at offline counters in Haridwar and Rishikesh) before the trip. We complete the registration with your ID documents and share the confirmation; carry a printed copy and the same ID.
- Trek and alternatives: Kedarnath is about 16 km uphill from Gaurikund (3,580 m at the temple); Yamunotri is about 6 km from Janki Chatti. Pony, palki and pithu services are available at fixed rates set by the administration, and helicopter shuttles to Kedarnath operate from Phata, Sersi and Guptkashi with online booking that opens a few weeks before the season. Gangotri and Badrinath need no trek.
- Fitness for seniors: anyone over 60 or with blood pressure, heart or breathing conditions should get a doctor's clearance. We build a rest day at Uttarkashi, keep daily drives under 8 hours, recommend helicopter or palki for Kedarnath, and carry oxygen and a first-aid kit in every vehicle.
- Accommodation: at Kedarnath, Badrinath and Gangotri the choice is GMVN rest houses, dharamshalas and basic hotels; 3-star comfort exists only at Guptkashi, Uttarkashi, Barkot and Joshimath. We tell you this plainly before you book.
Jim Corbett – zones and permits
- Corbett has several safari zones: Dhikala (the core, with overnight forest-rest-house stays and the best grassland sightings), Bijrani, Jhirna, Dhela, Garjiya and Durga Devi. Dhikala and Bijrani open around mid-October/mid-November and close for the monsoon from mid-June; Jhirna and Dhela stay open through the year.
- Permits are issued per jeep (six adults) for morning and afternoon slots and are booked online about 45 days in advance. Diwali week and Christmas sell out immediately. We book in your names with photo ID; a Dhikala overnight needs the same ID and is the hardest to get, so tell us early.
Nainital or Mussoorie?
- Nainital: the lake makes it – boating, lakeside Mall Road, cable car, and the seven lakes nearby. Better for families with small children and for combining with Corbett (2 hours).
- Mussoorie: closer to Dehradun airport and Rishikesh, with Landour's quiet cafés and Dhanaulti nearby; better for couples and for combining with Haridwar–Rishikesh or as the first night of a Char Dham trip.
- If you have seven nights, do both with Corbett and Rishikesh in between, flying into Delhi and out of Dehradun.
Best time to visit Uttarakhand – month by month
| Months | Weather | Good for | Prices |
|---|---|---|---|
| March – April | 12–25°C in the hills, rhododendron bloom | Couples and seniors in Nainital/Mussoorie, Corbett (great sightings), Rishikesh rafting | Moderate; Char Dham not yet open |
| May – June | 15–28°C hills; 35°C+ in Haridwar | Gujarat school vacation in the hills; Char Dham opening season; Valley of Flowers from June | Highest; yatra hotels and Corbett book out |
| July – September | Monsoon, landslides on yatra routes; Corbett core zones closed | Rishikesh yoga stays, Valley of Flowers (July–August), budget hill trips | Lowest |
| Mid-September – October | Clear, 10–22°C, washed-clean mountain views | Second Char Dham window, Corbett reopens, Diwali break in the hills | Moderate to high around Diwali |
| November – February | Cold; snow at Auli, Dhanaulti, Mussoorie in Jan–Feb | Snow trips to Auli and Mussoorie, Corbett Dhikala season, Rishikesh and Haridwar comfortable | Moderate; Christmas week high |
For Gujarati families the May vacation is the main hill-holiday window and also the first Char Dham window, so hotels at Guptkashi and Badrinath and Corbett permits run out by March. Book your May dates by January. The Diwali break is excellent for Nainital, Corbett and Rishikesh; the dhams close around Diwali, so a yatra in that week is only possible in the first days of the holiday – check the closing dates with us.
Places to visit in Uttarakhand
- Nainital: Naini lake, Naina Devi temple, Snow View ropeway, Tiffin Top and the lake district of Bhimtal, Sattal and Naukuchiatal.
- Mussoorie and Landour: Mall Road, Gun Hill, Kempty falls, Lal Tibba, Landour bakeries, Dhanaulti and Surkanda Devi nearby.
- Jim Corbett National Park: India's oldest tiger reserve; Dhikala grasslands, Bijrani, Jhirna and Garjiya Devi temple.
- Rishikesh: Laxman Jhula, Ram Jhula, Parmarth Niketan aarti, Beatles ashram, rafting from Shivpuri, bungee jumping.
- Haridwar: Har Ki Pauri Ganga aarti, Mansa Devi and Chandi Devi ropeways, Kankhal – a fully vegetarian pilgrim town.
- Kedarnath: the Jyotirlinga at 3,580 m; the most demanding and most moving of the four dhams.
- Badrinath: Vishnu's seat on the Alaknanda with Tapt Kund hot springs and Mana, the last village before Tibet.
- Yamunotri and Gangotri: the sources of the Yamuna and Ganga; Harsil valley near Gangotri is one of the prettiest stops in the state.
- Auli: ski slopes and the long ropeway from Joshimath; snow from December to March.
- Chopta and Tungnath: meadows and the highest Shiva temple, a 3.5 km trek, en route between Kedarnath and Badrinath.
- Valley of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib: a UNESCO alpine valley open July–September for fit trekkers.
- Lansdowne, Kausani and Almora: quiet Kumaon towns for a second visit, with Himalayan panoramas from Kausani.
Food, hotels and tips for Gujarati travellers
- Vegetarian and Jain food: Haridwar and Rishikesh are entirely vegetarian towns by rule, with Gujarati dharamshalas and thali restaurants, which is why so many Gujarati yatra groups start there. Along the Char Dham route, food is simple North Indian veg – dal, roti, sabzi, khichdi – and Jain preparations are possible when pre-arranged with the hotel or dhaba; we do this for every group. Nainital and Mussoorie have good veg restaurants and a few Gujarati options on Mall Road; Corbett resorts cook Jain food on request.
- Hotel categories: Nainital and Mussoorie offer everything from 3-star to heritage and 5-star; Corbett has jungle resorts on the Kosi river from standard to luxury; Rishikesh has riverside camps, ashram stays and resorts. On the yatra route, expect clean but basic rooms at the dhams and 3-star only at base towns.
- Pack: warm layers even in May for Kedarnath and Badrinath (nights near freezing), raincoat and good walking shoes for the yatra, a light jacket for Nainital evenings, motion-sickness tablets for the winding Garhwal roads, and photocopies of ID for permits and registration.
- Health: Kedarnath and Badrinath are above 3,000 m; walk slowly, hydrate, carry prescribed medicines and tell your consultant about any condition in advance.
- Money and connectivity: UPI works in towns; carry cash beyond Guptkashi and Joshimath. Mobile network is weak around Yamunotri and inside Corbett.
- Timings: Corbett core zones are closed mid-June to mid-November; the dhams close around Diwali; Nainital's Mall Road has a vehicle-free window in the evening, so hotels near the lake are worth it.

Uttarakhand tour packages – frequently asked questions
How much does an Uttarakhand tour package cost?
Uttarakhand packages on this page start at ₹8,200 per person. A 5-night Nainital–Corbett–Rishikesh family trip with 3-star hotels and a private car costs about ₹19,000–25,000 per person excluding flights. A 10-night Char Dham by road from Haridwar costs ₹32,000–42,000 in standard accommodation. Ahmedabad–Dehradun return flights add roughly ₹8,000–13,000.
Is there a direct flight from Ahmedabad to Uttarakhand?
Yes. Non-stop flights connect Ahmedabad with Dehradun (Jolly Grant) in about 2 hours, which is ideal for Mussoorie, Rishikesh, Haridwar and helicopter Char Dham. For Nainital and Corbett we usually fly you to Delhi (1 h 30 min) and drive or take a train to Kathgodam or Ramnagar.
Which train goes from Ahmedabad to Haridwar?
The Yoga Express runs daily between Ahmedabad and Haridwar and takes about 30 hours. There are also trains from Ahmedabad to Dehradun and to Delhi, from where fast trains reach Haridwar in about 4 hours. Many of our senior yatris travel by the direct train; we book the tickets with the package and have the car waiting at Haridwar.
When does the Char Dham yatra open and close?
The temples open around late April or early May – Yamunotri and Gangotri on Akshaya Tritiya, Kedarnath and Badrinath a few days later – and close in late October or early November around Diwali. Exact dates are announced by the temple committees each year; we update our packages as soon as they are.
Is registration compulsory for Char Dham?
Yes. Every yatri must register on the Uttarakhand government portal or at offline counters in Haridwar and Rishikesh before entering the yatra route. We complete the registration using your ID documents and send you the confirmation to carry in print. Helicopter shuttles to Kedarnath are booked separately online once the season window opens.
Can senior citizens do the Char Dham yatra?
Many do, with planning. We recommend a doctor's clearance for anyone over 60 or with BP, heart or breathing issues, a rest day at Uttarkashi, daily drives under 8 hours, and pony, palki or helicopter for the Kedarnath trek. A Do Dham (Kedarnath–Badrinath) or helicopter Char Dham in 5–6 days is often the better choice for elderly parents.
How do Corbett safari permits work?
Permits are issued per jeep (six adults) for morning and afternoon slots in zones such as Bijrani, Jhirna, Dhela and Garjiya, and are booked online about 45 days ahead with photo ID. Dhikala overnight stays are the hardest to get. Dhikala and Bijrani are closed mid-June to mid-October/November; Jhirna and Dhela stay open through the year.
Nainital or Mussoorie – which should we choose?
Nainital if you want a lake, boating and a Corbett safari nearby – it suits families with small children. Mussoorie if you want to be close to Dehradun airport, Rishikesh and Haridwar – it suits couples and is the natural first stop before a Char Dham trip. With seven nights you can do both.
Is pure-veg and Jain food available in Uttarakhand?
Haridwar and Rishikesh are fully vegetarian towns with Gujarati dharamshalas and thali restaurants. On the Char Dham route the food is simple North Indian veg and Jain meals are arranged in advance with each stay. Nainital, Mussoorie and Corbett resorts serve vegetarian and Jain food on request; we confirm it on your voucher.
What is the best time for a family hill holiday in Uttarakhand?
April to June is the best season for Nainital, Mussoorie, Corbett and Rishikesh, which is why the Gujarat May vacation is our busiest window – book by February. October–November (Diwali break) is the next best with clear skies and Corbett reopening. For snow, visit Auli or Mussoorie in January–February.
What is not included in an Uttarakhand package?
Flights or trains unless you ask us to add them, Corbett jeep safari and permit, rafting and adventure activities, ropeways, pony/palki/helicopter at the dhams, VIP darshan tickets, lunches, personal expenses and 5% GST. Each quote lists inclusions and exclusions side by side.
Can I customise the trip or travel as a large family group?
Yes. Any itinerary can be changed – add Auli, Chopta or Lansdowne, swap Corbett for Rishikesh camping, or convert Char Dham to Do Dham or helicopter. Every trip is a private, customised itinerary – your own vehicle and driver, your own dates. Extended families and friend groups travel together as a private group in a Tempo Traveller. Call 1800-313-4262 or WhatsApp the package to us.
