Overview

An ancient and prosperous city believed to have been the capital of Lord Krishna's kingdom, Dwarka is an important pilgrimage centre for Hindus from all over the world. It is located on the western coast of Gujarat, on the banks of River Gomti.

The site of Somnath has been a pilgrimage site from ancient times on account of being a Triveni Sangam (the confluence of three rivers: Kapila, Hiran and Saraswati). Soma, the Moon god, is believed to have lost his lustre due to a curse, and he bathed in the Sarasvati River at this site to regain it.

Home of the Asiatic Lion, Sasan Gir is famous for the Gir National Park with abundant flora, fauna and birdlife. The historical Junagadh town is located nearby.

It holds a special place as the cultural capital of Gujarat, a hub of art, music, and intellectual pursuits. Strategically located southeast of Ahmedabad, Vadodara is a major junction for both the railway line and national highway connecting Delhi and Mumbai.

It depicts Indian statesman and independence activist Vallabhbhai Patel (1875–1950), who was the first deputy prime minister and home minister of independent India and an adherent of Mahatma Gandhi. Patel is highly respected for playing a significant role in the political integration of India.
