Overview

Leh, a high-desert city in the Himalayas, is the capital of the Leh region in northern India’s Jammu and Kashmir state. Originally a stop for trading caravans, Leh is now known for its Buddhist sites and nearby trekking areas. Massive 17th-century Leh Palace, modeled on the Dalai Lama’s former home (Tibet’s Potala Palace), overlooks the old town’s bazaar and mazelike lanes.

Kargil is a town in the Kargil district of Ladakh region, in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is the second largest town in Ladakh after Leh.

Nubra is a tri-armed valley located to the north east of Ladakh valley. Diskit the capital of Nubra is about 150 km north from Leh town, the capital of Ladakh district, India. Local scholars say that its original name was Ldumra

Pangong Tso, Tibetan for "high grassland lake", also referred to as Pangong Lake, is an endorheic lake in the Himalayas situated at a height of about 4,350 m. It is 134 km long and extends from India to the Tibetan Autonomous Region, China.

Tso Moriri or Lake Moriri or "Mountain Lake", is a lake in the Ladakhi part of the Changthang Plateau in Jammu and Kashmir in Northern India. The lake and surrounding area are protected as the Tso Moriri Wetland Conservation Reserve. The lake is at an altitude of 4,522 m.

After Breakfast proceed towards Kargil, enroute visiting Gurudwara Sri Pathar Sahibji, Magnetic Hill, Sangam, Alchi and Lamayuru Monastry. You can also visit a few of these attractions on the route back to Leh on consequent day. Later, visit Maitreya Buddha at Mulbeikh. Overnight at Kargil.

After Breakfast proceed to Drass, world's coldest inhabited place. Here, visit Kargil War memorial built in the memory of martyr's of Kargil War of 1998. Later retrace the path to Leh via National Highway. You may consult our Tour Consultant, if you are willing to take up the route via Dha and Hanu villages to Leh, but that comes at an additional cost. Arrive Leh by evening.

After Breakfast, move towards second highest Motorable Road of The World, KhardungLa Pass. Have a cup of Tea there, get yourself clicked with the Khardungla Signboard by BRO & proceed towards Nubra valley visiting Deskit Monastery enroute. Check-in at Hotel/Camp, freshen up & later you can have a Double Hump Bactarian Camel ride. Dont forget to click this unique mammal, found in cold Desert. It was once used to carry the trade material on silk route. Overnight at Hunder/Nubra Camps/Hotel.

After breakfast drive to Pangong via Shyok. Approx 5 - 6 hours drive will take you to this beautiful high altitude and longest lake in the region. Check in at your hotel / camp in Pangong and enjoy the beautiful evening at Pangong Tso. Overnight stay at Pangong Tso.

After breakfast, leave Pangong and retrace the Leh route across Chang-la. Upon reaching Karu, drive across the Indus and visit the famous Hemis Monastery, biggest monastery of Ladakh. Later drive on to Leh, en route visiting the picturesque Thiksey monastery and Shey Palace. Overnight in hotel.

Early departure for Tsomo-riri Lake (alt: 15,000 ft.) driving through Chumathang (hot springs), Mahe and Puga Sumdo. Tsomoriri Lake (28 km long & about 8 km wide) is the breeding ground of many migratory birds including the rare barheaded geese. Dinner & overnight in fixed camp or Guest House.

After breakfast retrace the route down to Puga Sumdo and then follow the road across the Polokongka Pass (4920 mtrs) to visit Tsokar Lake, a salt lake system in the Rupsho plateau which is home of the Changa nomads and support many rare wild life species. After sightseeing of the area take the Manali-Leh road to return to Leh, crossing Taglang-la (alt: 17,585ft) en- route. Overnight in hotel.
