Petronas Towers, a hill-top theme park and Langkawi's islands with Indian food on every corner – 26 Malaysia packages, each a private itinerary planned from Ahmedabad.

Malaysia is the most under-rated holiday we sell from Ahmedabad. It has the city polish of Singapore at two-thirds of the price, a cool hill resort with a theme park at Genting Highlands that children and grandparents both enjoy, Langkawi's beaches and cable car for honeymooners, Penang's heritage streets and food, and – because of its large Tamil and North Indian community – more Indian restaurants than any other country in Southeast Asia. Indian passport holders currently enter visa-free, which removes the one step that complicates Singapore.

Many Gujarati families first see Malaysia as a two-night add-on to Singapore; those who give it five or six nights on its own come back saying it was the better half. The packages below are live with today's prices. After them you will find our 2026 price guide, flight options from Ahmedabad, three day-wise itineraries, a Malaysia-only vs Singapore + Malaysia comparison, the Genting family guide, a month-by-month table split by coast, and twelve FAQs.

Malaysia tour package price guide (2026)

Malaysia packages on this page start at ₹16,000 per person. Malaysia's hotels are among the best value in Asia – a 4★ room in Kuala Lumpur's Bukit Bintang costs roughly half its Singapore equivalent – so the price is driven mainly by how many destinations you cover (Langkawi and Penang each add a domestic flight) and by theme-park and cable-car tickets. Bands are per person on twin sharing, excluding international flights, with private transfers, breakfast and the sightseeing days named.

How to reach Malaysia from Ahmedabad

  • Direct from Ahmedabad: nonstop flights between Ahmedabad and Kuala Lumpur (KUL) have operated on a seasonal basis in recent years, taking about 5 h 15 min to 5 h 45 min. Schedules change, so we check your dates and quote the direct service when it is flying rather than promising an airline.
  • One-stop options: via Mumbai or Delhi on Indian and Malaysian carriers, via Bangkok, or via Singapore for a Singapore + Malaysia combination. Total journey 8–10 hours. Fares via Mumbai are often ₹3,000 – 6,000 cheaper on peak dates and we show both.
  • Open-jaw for combinations: for Singapore + Malaysia we fly you Ahmedabad–Singapore nonstop and home from Kuala Lumpur, with a coach or a one-hour flight between the two – no backtracking.
  • Time zone: Malaysia is 2 h 30 min ahead of India. A late-night departure lands in the morning; an early-morning departure lands mid-afternoon.
  • Kuala Lumpur to Genting Highlands: about 1 hour by road to the Awana cable-car station and 10 minutes up by the Awana SkyWay, or a full drive up the hill. Genting is at 1,800 metres and 10–12°C cooler than the city.
  • Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi or Penang: 1-hour domestic flights; Penang can also be reached by a 4-hour drive via Ipoh. Cameron Highlands is a 3½-hour drive from Kuala Lumpur.
  • Getting around: packages include private air-conditioned vehicles for transfers and sightseeing. Kuala Lumpur's metro, monorail and Grab taxis are cheap and safe for free time; Bukit Bintang, KLCC and Brickfields are all connected.

6 nights / 7 days – Singapore + Kuala Lumpur + Genting complete trip

Three nights Singapore (city tour, Gardens by the Bay, Night Safari, Universal Studios), a luxury coach to Kuala Lumpur with a Malacca stop, two nights Kuala Lumpur (Batu Caves, Petronas, Putrajaya) and a final night at Genting before flying home from Kuala Lumpur. This is the most popular 7-day combination for extended families and friend groups from Ahmedabad; they travel together as a private group on their own dates with their own coach and Gujarati dinners pre-arranged.

Senior citizens

Malaysia is gentle on parents over 60: Kuala Lumpur hotels have lifts and Indian restaurants within walking distance, Genting is cool and reached by cable car with no walking, and Langkawi's cable car replaces any trek. We skip the 272 Batu Caves steps (the temple at the base and the giant statue are the photograph anyway), book Langkawi resorts on flat beachfront, and keep one free afternoon in every three days.

Genting Highlands – the family guide

  • What it is: a resort city on a mountain top an hour from Kuala Lumpur with hotels, malls, a casino (adults only, no dress-code pressure on families), and two theme parks – Skytropolis indoors (good for children under 10 and rainy days) and Genting SkyWorlds outdoors (movie-themed rides for older children and adults).
  • Tickets: Skytropolis roughly ₹1,500 – 2,000 for an unlimited-rides pass; SkyWorlds roughly ₹3,500 – 4,500 per adult. We include whichever suits your children's ages and name it in the quote.
  • Cable car: the Awana SkyWay (about ₹400 – 600 one way; glass-floor gondolas cost extra) is the way up and a highlight in itself; the Chin Swee temple is a mid-station stop.
  • Stay or day trip? Stay one night. The evening temperature of 15–18°C, the SkyAvenue mall and the lights are the point; a day trip means four hours of driving for four hours on the hill. Hotels range from basic 3★ (very large, functional) to 5★; book early for Diwali and December.
  • Indian food: several Indian restaurants in SkyAvenue and the food courts have vegetarian counters, so Genting is one of the few hill resorts abroad where a Gujarati family eats without planning.

Entry rules for Indians

Indian passport holders can currently enter Malaysia visa-free for tourism for short stays, under an exemption that the Malaysian government has extended in stages and currently states as running to the end of 2026. Travellers must complete the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) online within three days before arrival, carry a passport valid six months, a return ticket and hotel confirmation, and may be asked for proof of funds. Because this rule has a stated expiry and has changed before, we confirm the current rule before every departure, submit the MDAC for you and give you a printed checklist. If a visa or eNTRI requirement is reintroduced, we prepare and submit the application; approval is at the authorities' discretion.

Best time to visit Malaysia – month by month

Malaysia is warm (27–33°C) and humid all year, but its two coasts have opposite monsoons – which is why a Langkawi trip and a Redang or Perhentian trip should never be booked for the same month without checking.

MonthsWest coast (KL, Langkawi, Penang)East coast (Redang, Perhentian, Tioman)Good for / prices
December – FebruaryDry, best beach weather in Langkawi; Chinese New Year usually late Jan or FebNorth-east monsoon – resorts closed, seas roughChristmas–New Year and Diwali weeks are peak for Ahmedabad families; prices highest
March – MayHot and mostly dry; Langkawi still goodSeason opens in March; excellent divingGujarat May vacation – Genting afternoons and Langkawi mornings; moderate prices rising in May school weeks
June – AugustOccasional showers; Kuala Lumpur and Genting finePeak dry season – best months for east-coast islandsGood value in KL; honeymooners can choose Redang over Langkawi
September – NovemberWettest months in Langkawi and Penang, usually afternoon storms; KL has heavy evening rainSeason closing by late OctoberLowest prices; Navratri-to-Diwali trips should favour KL + Genting over the islands

For Diwali departures we recommend Kuala Lumpur + Genting with Singapore, and we keep Langkawi for December to April. The Gujarat May vacation suits the full KL – Genting – Langkawi route well. Deepavali is a public holiday in Malaysia and Brickfields is decorated for weeks beforehand – a pleasant surprise for Gujarati families travelling in that season.

Places to visit in Malaysia

  • Petronas Twin Towers: the 452-metre twin towers at KLCC – the Skybridge and observation deck by day, the illuminated towers and fountain show by night.
  • Batu Caves: the 43-metre golden Murugan statue and the cave temple up 272 rainbow-coloured steps; the holiest Hindu site in Malaysia and a must for Gujarati families.
  • Genting Highlands: cable car, Skytropolis and SkyWorlds theme parks, SkyAvenue mall and cool mountain air an hour from the city.
  • Kuala Lumpur city: KL Tower, Independence Square, the Sultan Abdul Samad building, Chinatown, Central Market, Thean Hou temple and the Bukit Bintang shopping district.
  • Putrajaya: the planned administrative capital with the pink Putra Mosque, the Putra Bridge and lake cruises, 30 minutes from Kuala Lumpur.
  • Langkawi: the SkyCab and curved SkyBridge, island-hopping boats, Kilim mangroves, Pantai Cenang beach and duty-free shopping.
  • Penang: George Town's UNESCO streets and murals, Kek Lok Si temple, Penang Hill funicular and the best street food in the country, with plenty of Indian options in Little India.
  • Cameron Highlands: tea estates, strawberry farms and the Mossy Forest – a cool detour between Kuala Lumpur and Penang.
  • Malacca: Dutch Square, Jonker Street and river cruises, a natural stop on the Singapore–Kuala Lumpur coach route.
  • Sunway Lagoon: a water park, amusement park and wildlife park in one, 30 minutes from Kuala Lumpur – a full day for children.
  • Legoland Malaysia (Johor Bahru): just across the causeway from Singapore; ideal for children aged 3–12 on a Singapore + Malaysia trip.
  • Redang and the Perhentian Islands: east-coast islands with the clearest water in Malaysia, open roughly March to October.

Food, hotels and tips for Gujarati travellers

  • Indian, pure-veg and Jain food: Malaysia is the easiest Southeast Asian country for Indian food. Kuala Lumpur's Brickfields (Little India), Masjid India and Bukit Bintang have dozens of Indian restaurants – South Indian banana-leaf meals, North Indian thali, Gujarati-style dishes and chaat – and several are pure-vegetarian. Jain food without onion and garlic can be arranged at a few restaurants with a day's notice and at hotels; we share the list with your voucher. Genting's SkyAvenue has Indian restaurants and vegetarian food-court counters; Langkawi's Pantai Cenang has four or five Indian restaurants; Penang has a full Little India. Malay and Chinese-Malaysian restaurants are less vegetarian-friendly, so we direct you to Indian and dedicated vegetarian places rather than hope for the best.
  • Hotel areas: Bukit Bintang for shopping and nightlife, KLCC for Petronas views, Brickfields for Indian food and the KL Sentral transport hub. Genting hotels are owned by one group and range from very large 3★ to 5★ – book early for peak weeks. In Langkawi, Pantai Cenang for budget and mid-range with restaurants outside the gate, Datai Bay and Tanjung Rhu for luxury seclusion.
  • Money: the ringgit has been roughly ₹18–20 in recent years. Cards are accepted widely; carry RM 300–500 per family in cash for markets, taxis and small restaurants. Langkawi is duty-free for chocolates, perfume and kitchenware. Shopping in Kuala Lumpur's Bukit Bintang malls is comparable to India for brands; Central Market and Petaling Street are for souvenirs.
  • Dress and conduct: Malaysia is a Muslim-majority country but relaxed for tourists. Cover shoulders and knees at mosques (robes are lent at Putra Mosque) and at Batu Caves; swimwear belongs on the beach and at the pool.
  • Pack: light cottons, a jacket or shawl for Genting evenings (15–18°C) and air-conditioned malls, a folding umbrella in any month, comfortable shoes for Batu Caves steps and Penang walks, swimwear and reef-safe sunscreen for Langkawi.
  • Timings: Batu Caves is best before 9 am (cooler, fewer crowds); the Petronas Skybridge sells timed tickets that go early in peak weeks – we pre-book; the Awana SkyWay runs from about 7 am to midnight; the Langkawi SkyCab may close for high winds, so we schedule it on your first full day with a backup.
  • Connectivity: a tourist SIM with 15–30 GB costs about ₹500 – 800 at KL airport; WiFi is good in hotels and malls.

Malaysia tour packages – frequently asked questions

How much does a Malaysia tour package cost from Ahmedabad?

Malaysia packages on this page start at ₹16,000 per person. A 4-night Kuala Lumpur + Genting package with 3★ hotels, transfers, city tour and cable car costs ₹18,000–24,000 per person excluding flights; 4★ hotels take it to ₹26,000–34,000. Adding two nights in Langkawi with the domestic flight brings a 4★ trip to ₹36,000–46,000. Return flights from Ahmedabad add ₹18,000–28,000.

Is there a direct flight from Ahmedabad to Malaysia?

Nonstop Ahmedabad–Kuala Lumpur flights have operated seasonally in recent years, taking about 5–5¾ hours, but schedules change, so we check your dates rather than promise an airline. Otherwise, one-stop connections via Mumbai, Delhi, Bangkok or Singapore take 8–10 hours. For Singapore + Malaysia we fly you into Singapore and home from Kuala Lumpur.

Do Indians need a visa for Malaysia?

Indian passport holders currently enter Malaysia visa-free for short tourist stays under an exemption the government has stated runs to the end of 2026. You must submit the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card online within three days before arrival, which we do for you. Because the rule has an expiry date, we confirm the current position before every departure.

How many days are enough for Malaysia?

Four nights covers Kuala Lumpur and a night at Genting. Five to six nights adds Langkawi for a beach. Seven nights fits Kuala Lumpur, Cameron Highlands, Penang and Langkawi. Combined with Singapore, plan six to seven nights in total with three in Singapore.

Malaysia only or Singapore + Malaysia – which is better?

Malaysia only (KL + Genting + Langkawi) is the value and honeymoon choice at ₹36,000–46,000 per person for 4★ hotels, with no visa work and a real beach. Singapore + Malaysia (6 nights) suits a first international trip with children who want Universal Studios, at ₹62,000–80,000 per person plus the Singapore e-visa. Both routes have Indian food everywhere.

Is Indian and Jain food available in Malaysia?

More than anywhere else in Southeast Asia. Brickfields and Masjid India in Kuala Lumpur have dozens of Indian restaurants including pure-vegetarian ones, Genting's SkyAvenue has Indian restaurants and veg counters, Langkawi's Pantai Cenang has four or five, and Penang has a Little India. Jain meals are arranged at selected restaurants and hotels with a day's notice and confirmed in writing.

Is Genting Highlands worth a night, and is it good for children?

Yes – stay one night rather than day-tripping. The cable car, the 15–18°C evenings, the SkyAvenue mall and two theme parks – Skytropolis indoors for under-10s and SkyWorlds outdoors for older children – make it the favourite stop for most families from Ahmedabad. Theme-park passes cost roughly ₹1,500–2,000 (Skytropolis) and ₹3,500–4,500 (SkyWorlds) per adult.

Which is the best month to visit Malaysia?

December to April for Langkawi and the west coast, June to August for the east-coast islands such as Redang. Kuala Lumpur and Genting are fine all year. The Gujarat May vacation works well for the KL – Genting – Langkawi route. For Diwali, September–November is the wettest period in Langkawi, so we steer those trips to KL + Genting, often with Singapore.

Is Malaysia good for a honeymoon?

Yes, especially with Langkawi. Two nights in Kuala Lumpur with a KLCC view, a night at Genting with the cable car at sunset and three nights in a Langkawi beach resort with the SkyBridge, island hopping and a candle-light dinner make a 5–6 night honeymoon for ₹36,000–46,000 per person in 4★ hotels plus flights. Datai Bay resorts are the luxury upgrade.

What is usually not included in a Malaysia package?

International flights unless added, Genting theme-park passes, the Petronas Skybridge, KL Tower, Sunway Lagoon, Langkawi SkyCab and island-hopping boats unless named in the itinerary, meals not listed, glass-floor gondola upgrades, tips, travel insurance and 5% GST. Every quote lists inclusions and exclusions side by side so there are no surprises.

Is Malaysia suitable for senior citizens?

Very suitable. Kuala Lumpur hotels have lifts and Indian restaurants nearby, Genting is reached by cable car with no walking, and Langkawi's cable car and boat tours need no trekking. We skip the 272 Batu Caves steps for seniors, choose beachfront Langkawi resorts on flat ground and keep one free afternoon in every three days.

How much spending money do I need for Malaysia?

Malaysia is cheaper than Singapore: a vegetarian meal at an Indian restaurant costs ₹300–600 per person and a food-court meal ₹150–250. For a 5-night trip with breakfast and sightseeing included, budget ₹8,000–12,000 per person for other meals, snacks and small shopping, plus whatever you plan for Langkawi duty-free or Bukit Bintang malls.
