Visa needed?
Yes. Indian citizens need a Schengen visa before travelling to Iceland.
How to apply
Submit the application at a VFS Global visa application centre in India. The Embassy of Iceland in New Delhi decides all visa matters.
Visa fee
EUR 90 per adult; EUR 45 for children aged 6 to 12; no fee for children under 6. VFS Global also charges a service fee of not more than half the visa fee.
Processing time
Normally decided within 15 calendar days of a complete application; can go up to 45 days in some cases.
Stay allowed
Short stay, as printed on the Schengen visa.
Validity
As printed on the visa. A Schengen visa issued for Iceland is also valid for the other Schengen countries.
Passport
Valid at least 3 months after you plan to leave the Schengen area, with at least 2 blank pages, issued within the last 10 years.

How to apply

  1. Plan your dates – you can apply up to 6 months before arrival and no later than 15 calendar days before.
  2. Fill in the Schengen application form and collect the documents on the VFS Global checklist.
  3. Book an appointment at a VFS Global centre in India.
  4. Attend the appointment: submit the file, pay the fees and give 10 fingerprints and a photo.
  5. Track the application and collect your passport from VFS Global.

Important to know

Fingerprints are taken when you apply (with some exceptions such as young children).

The EU Entry/Exit System (EES) has been fully running since 10 April 2026: non-EU visitors have fingerprints and a facial image recorded at the Schengen border.

You must apply in the country where you legally live.

A visa lets you travel; entry is decided by the border officer.
