Documents usually needed

  • Completed and signed visa application form
  • One recent colour photo
  • Passport valid 3 months beyond the trip and issued within 10 years
  • Travel medical insurance of at least EUR 30,000 covering the whole Schengen area and trip, including repatriation
  • Flight booking and hotel reservation (or invitation letter)
  • Proof of funds – at least EUR 50 per person per day, or a sponsorship form if a host pays
  • Parental consent for minors

How to apply

  1. Make sure Finland is your main destination (most nights) or, with equal stays, your first Schengen entry.
  2. Fill the visa application form online.
  3. Book an appointment with VFS Global.
  4. Submit documents in person and give fingerprints and photo (skipped if given for a Schengen visa in the last 59 months).
  5. Track the application and collect your passport from VFS.

Important to know

Apply no earlier than 6 months and ideally at least 15 days before travel.

The Embassy of Finland in New Delhi no longer answers visa questions by phone or email – queries go to VFS.

The EU Entry/Exit System (EES) has been fully running since 10 April 2026: your passport details, fingerprints and facial image are recorded at the Schengen border instead of a passport stamp.

ETIAS applies to visa-free travellers only, so it does not replace the Schengen visa for Indian passport holders.
